[Machine] O Abu Abdur-Rahman, how do you read this Ayah "{from unsullied water}" [Muhammad: 15], do you read it as ya or alif? So he said, "I have counted all of the Quran except for this one." Abdullah said, "I read the detailed one in each rakah." He said, "Abdullah did this as the poets do. Indeed, from the best of prayer is the rukoo and the sujood, and the Quran will be recited by people whose provision does not exceed their ankles. But when it is recited, it penetrates the heart and benefits. I definitely know the equivalent(s) which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in two surahs in each rakah, then he stood and entered [prostration]. Alqamah came and entered [the prostration]. We said, Ask him about the equivalents which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in each rakah." So he entered and asked him. Then he left and said, "Twenty surahs from the beginning of the Mufassal, in the compilation of Abdullah."  

يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {مِنْ مَاءٍ غَيْرِ آسِنٍ} [محمد 15] أَيَاءً تَقْرَأُهَا أَوْ أَلِفًا؟ فَقَالَ كُلُّ الْقُرْآنِ قَدْ أَحْصَيْتُ غَيْرَ هَذَا قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَقْرَأُ الْمُفَصَّلَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ هَذًّا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ إِنَّ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ الصَّلَاةِ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَلَيَقْرَأَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ أَقْوَامٌ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا قُرِئَ فَرَسَخَ فِي الْقَلْبِ نَفَعَ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ سُورَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَخَلَ فَجَاءَ عَلْقَمَةُ فَدَخَلَ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ سَلْهُ عَنِ النَّظَائِرِ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ فَدَخَلَ فَسَأَلَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَ عِشْرُونَ سُورَةً مِنْ أَوَّلِ الْمُفَصَّلِ فِي تَأْلِيفِ عَبْدِ اللهِ  

[Machine] Abdullah is like the hair, indeed there are people who recite the Quran but it does not go beyond their throats. However, when it falls into the heart, it firmly establishes itself and benefits. Indeed, the best prayer is the bowing and prostration. And I know the similar verses that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in them two surahs in every unit of prayer. Then Abdullah stood up and entered into his tent, then he came out and said, "He has informed me about it."  

عَبْدُ اللهِ هَذٌّ كَهَذِّ الشَّعْرِ إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا وَقَعَ فِي الْقَلْبِ فَرَسَخَ فِيهِ نَفَعَ إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّلَاةِ الرُّكُوعُ وَالسُّجُودُ وَإِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهِنَّ سُورَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَدَخَلَ عَلْقَمَةُ فِي إِثْرِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَ قَدْ أَخْبَرَنِي بِهَا  

The Prophet [SAW] was asked: "Which deed is best?" He said: "Faith in which there is no doubt, Jihad in which there is no Ghulul, and Hajjatun Mabrur." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4986)   

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ أِيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ إِيمَانٌ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِ وَجِهَادٌ لَا غُلُولَ فِيهِ وَحَجَّةٌ مَبْرُورَةٌ قِيلَ أِيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ طُولُ الْقِيَامِ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ  

[Machine] Is this like this poem and prose like prose, but the Prophet ﷺ used to recite similar passages in two units of prayer: Surah Al-Rahman and Al-Najm in one unit, Al-Haqqah in one unit, Al-Toor and Al-Dhariyat in one unit, and If the Fish Is swallowed in one unit, and he is wondering and the Apostles in one unit, and smoke and when the sun is wrapped in one unit, 4692 and others increased from Israel in this hadith, and a questioner asked and those who pull out in one unit, and wail to the defrauders, and he frowned in one unit, then he mentioned what happened after it, Abu Ali Al-Rowzabari told us Muhammad bin Bakr told us Abu Dawood, Abbad bin Musa told us Ismail bin Jafar from Israel, so he mentioned it with his increase 4693 and Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz told us Abu Bakr bin Ishaq al-Faqih, Ahmad bin Salama narrated to us Ishaq bin Ibrahim, and Isa bin Yunus narrated to us Al-Amash from Shaqiq from Abdullah, so he mentioned the hadith in the sense of the hadith of Wakee’, except that he said: "The best prayer is bowing and prostrating. I know the similar ones that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in them twenty surahs in ten units."  

أَهَذًّا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ وَنَثْرًا كَنَثْرِ الدَّقَلِ لَكِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ النَّظَائِرَ سُورَتَيْنِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ الرَّحْمَنَ وَالنَّجْمَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَاقْتَرَبَتْ وَالْحَاقَّةَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَالطُّورَ وَالذَّارِيَاتِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَإِذَا وَقَعَتْ وَالنُّونَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَعَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَالدُّخَانَ وَإِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ فِي رَكْعَةٍ 4692 وَزَادَ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي هِذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَسَأَلَ سَائِلٌ وَالنَّازِعَاتِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ وَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ وَعَبَسَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ وَمَا بَعْدَهُ أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أنبأ أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَذَكَرَهُ بِزِيَادَتِهِ 4693 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إنَّ أَحْسَنَ الصَّلَاةِ الرُّكُوعُ وَالسُّجُودُ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهِنَّ اثْنَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ عِشْرِينَ سُورَةً فِي عَشْرِ رَكَعَاتٍ  

[Machine] "And I used to recite twenty Surahs in each unit of prayer, but someone informed me that they had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that each Surah has its portion from the bowing and prostrating, which was confirmed by Abdullah bin Ziyad on the authority of Aasim in the narration of Abu Al-Aliyah."  

وَأَنَا كُنْتُ أَقْرَأُ عِشْرِينَ سُورَةً فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ وَلَكِنْ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِكُلِّ سُورَةٍ حَظُّهَا مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ تَابَعَهُ عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ  

[Machine] Anas asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Who informed you about this?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I remember and recall the place where it was narrated to me."  

سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِكُلِّ سُورَةٍ حَظُّهَا مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنَسٌ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ؟ قَالَ وَإِنِّي لَأَذْكُرُ وَأَذْكُرُ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنَا فِيهِ  

[Machine] I passed by Abu Dharr wearing a cloak while I was on Hajj, so I entered his house and found him praying while he minimized his standing as much as he recited "Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar" [Surah al-Kawthar, 108:1] and "When the victory of Allah has come" [Surah al-Nasr, 110:1], and he prolonged his bowing and prostration. When he finished the prayer, I said to him, "O Abu Dharr, I saw you minimizing your standing and prolonging your bowing and prostration." He replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'No slave prostrates to Allah, or performs a bowing to Allah, except that Allah removes a sin from him and elevates him in a rank by it.'"  

مَرَرْتُ بِأَبِي ذَرٍّ بِالرَّبَذَةِ وَأَنَا حَاجٌّ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ مَنْزِلَهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ يُصَلِّي يُخَفِّفُ الْقِيَامَ قَدْرَ مَا يَقْرَأُ {إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ} [الكوثر 1] وَ {إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللهِ} [النصر 1] وَيُكْثِرُ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ رَأَيْتُكَ تُخَفِّفُ الْقِيَامَ وَتُكْثِرُ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ قَالَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً أَوْ يَرْكَعُ لِلَّهِ رَكْعَةً إِلَّا حَطَّ اللهُ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً وَرَفَعَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, when a servant stands up to pray, his sins are brought and placed on his head and shoulders, and whenever he bows or prostrates, they fall off of him."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي أُتِيَ بِذُنُوبِهِ فَجُعِلَتْ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَعَاتِقَيْهِ فَكُلَّمَا رَكَعَ أَوْ سَجَدَ تَسَاقَطَتْ عَنْهُ
