[Machine] Abu Huraira entered the mosque of the Zuraiqiyin and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands in supplication when he entered prayer, then he would remain silent for a moment, asking Allah for His favor. And he would say takbir when he lowered his head and when he bowed."  

دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ مَسْجِدَ الزُّرَقِيِّينَ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا ثُمَّ سَكَتَ هُنَيْئَةً يَسْأَلُ اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَكَانَ يُكَبِّرُ إِذَا خَفَضَ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ  

[Machine] Three things that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do and people abandoned despite his teachings. When he stood up for prayer, he would say it in this way and Abu 'Aamir would point with his hand, not separating his fingers and not clasping them.  

ثَلَاثٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَعْمَلُ بِهِنَّ تَرَكَهُنَّ النَّاسُ كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ هَكَذَا وَأَشَارَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ بِيَدِهِ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّجْ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ وَلَمْ يَضُمَّهَا  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spread his fingers apart when he started the prayer.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ نَشَرَ أَصَابِعَهُ نَشْرًا  

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raise his hands while praying, and it has been reported in this narration that this was before the takbeer.  

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا يَعْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَقَدْ قِيلَ فِي هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ قَبْلَ التَّكْبِيرِ  

[Machine] I have not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up in prayer, whether obligatory or voluntary, except that he would raise his hands towards the sky, supplicate, and then say the takbir after following it. This was reported by Jarir from Ibn Ishaq in a hadith, and it was narrated in another hadith that he said: "When one of you begins the prayer, let him raise his hands and face the qibla with the palms of his hands, except that this narration is weak so I struck it out."  

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَرِيضَةً وَلَا تَطَوُّعًا إِلَّا شَهَرَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَدْعُو ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ بَعْدُ تَابَعَهُ جَرِيرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي حَدِيثٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِذَا اسْتَفْتَحَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلْيَرْفَعْ يَدَيْهِ وَلْيَسْتَقْبِلْ بِبَاطِنِهِمَا الْقِبْلَةَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ ضَعِيفٌ فَضَرَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ
