[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were on a journey one night, and we said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would marry us." So, he mentioned the Hadith about prayer in their sleep and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah takes your souls when He wills, and returns them when He wills. Then, He orders them to fulfill their needs and perform ablution, and the sun rises, so he prays with them."  

سَرَيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ فِي سَفَرٍ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فِي نَوْمِهِمْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ قَبَضَ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُمْ فَانْتَشَرُوا لِحَاجَتِهِمْ وَتَوَضَّئُوا وَارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ  

[Machine] So the Prophet ﷺ was asleep on the road and he put his head down, then he said, "Preserve our prayers for us." The Prophet ﷺ was the first person to wake up, and the sun was on his back, so we quickly got up in alarm. He said, "Let's ride," and we did. We continued until the sun rose, then he called for a container that had some water in it, and we performed ablution with it. He mentioned the hadith, he said, "Then Bilal called for prayer, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two Rak'ahs, then he prayed the morning prayer and did as he usually did every day." Then the Prophet ﷺ rode, and we rode with him. Some of us whispered to others, "What is the expiation for neglecting our prayers?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "What is it that you are whispering about, apart from me?" We said, "O Prophet of Allah, we neglected our prayers." He said, "Do you not have me as a good example? He said, "There is no neglect in sleep. Neglect only applies to those who do not pray until the time of the next prayer comes. So if that happens, let him pray when he wakes up. And if it is from the morning, let him pray it at its appointed time." He mentioned the rest of the hadith and then Abdullah ibn Rabah said, "I used to narrate this hadith in the central mosque, and Imran ibn Husayn said to me, 'Look, young man, how do you narrate? For I was present with the Prophet ﷺ that night, and I did not feel that anyone had memorized it as well as I did.'"  

فَمَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ فَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ احْفَظُوا عَلَيْنَا صَلَاتَنَا فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَالشَّمْسُ فِي ظَهْرِهِ فَقُمْنَا فَزِعِينَ فَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فَسِرْنَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمِيضَاةٍ كَانَتْ مَعِي فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَتَوَضَّأْنَا مِنْهَا وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ ثُمَّ نَادَى بِلَالٌ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى صَّلَاةَ الْغَدَاةِ فَصَنَعَ كَمَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ ثُمَّ رَكِبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَرَكِبْنَا فَجَعَلَ بَعْضُنَا يَهْمِسُ إِلَى بَعْضٍ مَا كَفَّارَةُ مَا صَنَعْنَا بِتَفْرِيطِنَا فِي صَلَاتِنَا؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا هَذَا الَّذِي تَهْمِسُونَ دُونِي؟ فَقُلْنَا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ تَفْرِيطُنَا فِي صَلَاتِنَا فَقَالَ أَمَا لَكُمْ فِيَّ أُسْوَةٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي النَّوْمِ تَفْرِيطٌ إِنَّمَا التَّفْرِيطُ عَلَى مَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ وَقْتُ الْأُخْرَى فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا حِينَ يَسْتَيْقِظُ فَإِذَا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا عِنْدَ وَقْتِهَا وَذَكَرَ بَاقِيَ الْحَدِيثِ ثُمَّ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ إِنِّي لَأُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْجَامِعِ فَقَالَ لِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ انْظُرْ أَيُّهَا الْفَتَى كَيْفَ تُحَدِّثُ فَإِنِّي لَأَحَدُ الرَّكْبِ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا نُجَيْدٍ حَدِّثْ أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْحَدِيثِ قَالَ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ قُلْتُ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ فَأَنْتُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِالْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثْتُ الْقَوْمَ فَقَالَ عِمْرَانُ لَقَدْ شَهِدْتُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَمَا شَعَرْتُ أَنَّ أَحَدًا حَفِظَهُ كَمَا حَفِظْتُهُ  

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who stated: "They (the companions) mentioned a story about their slumber during prayer until they were not awakened until the sun rose upon them. So we stood up hastily for our prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Take it easy, take it easy, until the sun rises.' Then he said: 'Whoever prays these two Rak'ahs before the Fajr prayer, they are better than the world and all that is in it.' He said: 'So he prayed them, and whoever did not pray them, then the prayer was called for and he led us in prayer. When he had finished he said: 'We were, by the grace of Allah, not occupied with anything of this world which distracted us from our prayer, but our souls were in the Hand of Allah and He would send them when He willed. So whoever catches up with this prayer of ours good in the morning, let him pray with it, but do not follow it with anything else.' Muhammad bin Isma'il Al-Bukhari said: 'It is not necessary to follow the statement of one who forgets a prayer to pray it when he remembers it in its proper time in the morning.' Abu Bakr Al-Farisi informed us on the authority of Ibrahim bin Abdullah on the authority of Abu Ahmad bin Faris, who said: 'Muhammad mentioned it.' The Shaykh (Bukhari) may Allah have mercy upon him said: 'This wording indicates that this statement is weak, and the correct version is that which was narrated from Sulaiman bin Al-Mughirah, that Imran bin Husain, one of the riders, was the one who mentioned it, as Abdullah bin Rabah narrated it from him. He (Sulaiman) declared in the narration of this Hadith that it is not obligatory to pray anything else with the Qada.'  

فَحَدَّثَنَا قَالَ ثنا أَبُو قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَارِسُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةَ نَوْمِهِمْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ فَمَا اسْتَيْقَظْنَا إِلَّا بِالشَّمْسِ طَالِعَةً عَلَيْنَا فَقُمْنَا وَهِلِينَ لِصَلَاتِنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رُوَيْدًا رُوَيْدًا حَتَّى تَعَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُصَلِّي هَاتَيْنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ فَلْيُصَلِّهِمَا قَالَ فَصَلَّاهُمَا مَنْ كَانَ يُصَلِّيهِمَا وَمَنْ كَانَ لَا يُصَلِّيهِمَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ فَنُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّا بِحَمْدِ اللهِ لَمْ نَكُنْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا شَغَلَنَا عَنْ صَلَاتِنَا وَلَكِنَّ أَرْوَاحَنَا كَانَتْ بِيَدِ اللهِ أَرْسَلَهَا إِذَا شَاءَ فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ مِنْ غَدٍ صَالِحًا فَلْيُصَلّ مَعَهَا مِثْلَهَا قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ لَا يُتَابَعُ فِي قَوْلِهِ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا وَلِوَقْتِهَا مِنَ الْغَدِ أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْفَارِسِيُّ أنبأ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أنبأ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ فَارِسٍ قَالَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَالَّذِي يَدُلُّ عَلَى ضَعْفِ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ وَأَنَّ الصَّحِيحَ مَا مَضَى مِنْ رِوَايَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ أَحَدُ الرَّكْبِ كَمَا حَدَّثَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ عَنْهُ وَقَدْ صَرَّحَ فِي رِوَايَةِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ بِأَنْ لَا يَجِبَ مَعَ الْقَضَاءِ غَيْرُهُ  

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an expedition or raid. When it was approaching dawn, we got married. We did not wake up until the intense heat of the sun woke us up, making the people panic and surprised. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up, he ordered us to depart. So we set off until the sun rose. Then we descended and the people fulfilled their needs. Then he ordered Bilal to make the call to prayer and we performed two units of prayer. Then he led the congregation prayer. Afterwards, we asked the Prophet ﷺ , "Shouldn't we delay it until its appointed time tomorrow?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Allah forbids you from consuming usury but accepts it from you. Similarly..."  

سَرَيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزَاةٍ أَوْ قَالَ سَرِيَّةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي آخِرِ السَّحَرِ عَرَّسْنَا فَمَا اسْتَيْقَظْنَا حَتَّى أَيْقَظَنَا حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ فَجَعَلَ الْقَوْمُ مِنَّا يَنْتَبِهُ فَزِعًا دَهِشًا فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنَا فَارْتَحَلْنَا ثُمَّ سِرْنَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ نَزَلْنَا فَقَضَى الْقَوْمُ حَوَائِجَهُمْ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَذَّنَ فَصَلَّيْنَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ فَقُلْنَا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَلَا نَقْضِيَهَا مِنَ الْغَدِ لِوَقْتِهَا فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَاكُمُ اللهُ عَنِ الرِّبَا وَيَقْبَلُهُ مِنْكُمْ وَكَذَلِكَ  

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from the Battle of Khaibar, he travelled during the night. When we felt sleep, he halted for rest. Addressing Bilal he said: Keep vigilance at night for us. But Bilal who was leaning against the saddle of his mount was dominated by sleep. Neither the Prophet ﷺ nor Bilal nor any of his Companions could get up till the sunshine struck them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up first of all. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was embarrassed and said: O Bilal ! He replied: He who detained your soul, detained my soul, Messenger of Allah, my parents be sacrificed for you. Then they drove their mounts to a little distance. The Prophet ﷺ perfumed ablution and commanded Bilal who made announcement for the prayer. He (the Prophet) led them in the Fajr prayer. When he finished prayer, he said: If anyone forget saying prayer, he should observe it when he recalls it, for Allah has said (in the Qur'an): "Establish prayer for my remembrance". Yunus said: Ibn Shihab used to recite this verse in a similar way (i.e. instead of reciting the word li-dhikri - for the sake of My remembrance - he would recite li-dhikra - when you remember). Ahmad (one of the narrator) said: 'Anbasah (a reporter) reported on the authority of Yunus the word li-dhikri (for the sake of my remembrance). Ahmad said: The word nu'as (occurring in this tradition) means "drowsiness". (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 435)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ قَفَلَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ سَارَ لَيْلَةً حَتَّى إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْكَرَى عَرَّسَ وَقَالَ لِبِلَالٍ اكْلَأْ لَنَا اللَّيْلَ فَصَلَّى بِلَالٌ مَا قُدِّرَ لَهُ وَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَلَمَّا تَقَارَبَ الْفَجْرُ اسْتَنَدَ بِلَالٌ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ مُوَاجِهَ الْفَجْرِ فَغَلَبَتْ بِلَالًا عَيْنَاهُ وَهُوَ مُسْتَنِدٌ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا بِلَالٌ وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ حَتَّى ضَرَبَتْهُمُ الشَّمْسُ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوَّلَهُمُ اسْتِيقَاظًا فَفَزِعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَيْ بِلَالُ فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَخَذَ بِنَفْسِي الَّذِي أَخَذَ بِنَفْسِكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ اقْتَادُوا فَاقْتَادُوا رَوَاحِلَهُمْ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاة فَصَلَّى بِهُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ مَنْ نَسِيَ الصَّلَاةَ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَالَ {أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي} [طه 14] قَالَ يُونُسُ وَكَانَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ يَقْرَؤُهَا لِذِكْرَى وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَحْمَدَ لِلذِّكْرَى قَالَ يُونُسُ وَكَانَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ يَقْرَؤُهَا كَذَلِكَ قَالَ أَحْمَدُ قَالَ عَنْبَسَةُ يَعْنِي عَنْ يُونُسَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ لِذِكْرَى قَالَ أَحْمَدُ الْكَرَى النُّعَاسُ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Move away from the place where you have been struck with negligence.' He then ordered Bilal to call the Adhan (call to prayer), establish the prayer, and he himself prayed. And this is the news."  

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَحَوَّلُوا عَنْ مَكَانِكُمُ الَّذِي أَصَابَتْكُمْ فِيهِ الْغَفْلَةُ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَذَّنَ وَأَقَامَ وَصَلَّى وَهَذَا الْخَبَرُ  

We stopped for rest along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and did not awake till the sun rose. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ then told us that everybody should take hold of his camel's nosestring (get out of this ground) for it was the place where devil had visited us. We did accordingly. He then called for water and performed ablution and then performed two prostrations. Ya'qub said: Then he prayed (performed) two prostrations. then takbir was pronounced for prayer and then he offered the morning prayer (in congregation). (Using translation from Muslim 680b)   

عَرَّسْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ نَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِيَأْخُذْ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ بِرَأْسِ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَإِنَّ هَذَا مَنْزِلٌ حَضَرَنَا فِيهِ الشَّيْطَانُ فَفَعَلْنَا ثُمَّ دَعَا بِالْمَاءِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ  

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Whoever forgets a prayer, then let him offer it as soon as he remembers it, and there is no expiation for it except that. Then he recited the verse, 'Establish prayer for My remembrance' [Surah Taha, verse 14]."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا وَلَا كَفَّارَةَ لَهَا إِلَّا ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ قَتَادَةُ {أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي} [طه 14]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, his expiation is to pray it whenever he remembers it."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً أَوْ نَامَ عَنْهَا فَكَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا  

[Machine] We were returning from Al-Hudaybiyah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when we got married. He asked, "Who will guard us for our prayers?" Shu'bah said, "Who will take care of us?" Bilal said, "I will." Al-Mas'udi narrated in his Hadith that he said to him, "You sleep." Then he asked again, "Who will guard us for our prayers?" Ibn Mas'ud said, "I said, 'I will, O Messenger of Allah.'" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You sleep, so I guarded them until the dawn broke. I then slept and we did not wake up except by the sun. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and did what he used to do. Then he said, "If Allah wanted you not to sleep, you would not have slept. But He wanted it to be for those who come after you, so do the same. Whoever among you sleeps or forgets..."  

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَرْجِعَهُ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَعَرَّسْنَا فَقَالَ مَنْ يَحْرُسُنَا لِصَلَاتِنَا؟ وَقَالَ شُعْبَةُ مَنْ يَكْلَؤُنَا؟ فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا قَالَ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ إِنَّكَ تَنَامُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَحْرُسُنَا لِصَلَاتِنَا؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قُلْتُ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّكَ تَنَامُ فَحَرَسْتُهُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ فِي وَجْهِ الصُّبْحِ أَدْرَكَنِي مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَنِمْتُ فَمَا اسْتَيْقَظْنَا إِلَّا بِالشَّمْسِ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَنَعَ مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَوْ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا تَنَامُوا عَنْهَا لَمْ تَنَامُوا وَلَكِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ تَكُونَ لِمَنْ بَعْدَكُمْ فَهَكَذَا فَافْعَلُوا مَنْ نَامَ مِنْكُمْ أَوْ نَسِيَ  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer and remembers it after its due time, should offer it as soon as he remembers it.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَوَقْتُهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا كَذَا  

"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Last night a big demon (afreet) from the Jinns came to me and wanted to interrupt my prayers (or said something similar) but Allah enabled me to overpower him. I wanted to fasten him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that all of you could See him in the morning but I remembered the statement of my brother Solomon (as stated in Quran): My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to anybody after me (38.35)." The sub narrator Rauh said, "He (the demon) was dismissed humiliated." (Using translation from Bukhārī 461)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ عِفْرِيتًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ تَفَلَّتَ عَلَيَّ الْبَارِحَةَ لِيَقْطَعَ عَلَيَّ الصَّلَاةَ فَأَمْكَنَنِي اللهُ مِنْهُ فَذَرَعْتُهُ وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَرْبِطَهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى تُصْبِحُوا فَتَنْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ كُلُّكُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ دَعْوَةَ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي قَالَ فَرَدَّهُ خَاسِئًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "I encountered the Shaytan, so I grabbed him and strangled him until I felt the coolness of his tongue in my hand. He said, 'You have hurt me, you have hurt me. If it were not for the supplication of Sulaiman, ﷺ , I would have been tied to a post in the mosque, and the children of Medina would have looked at me.' Jabir ibn Samurah narrated this from the Prophet, ﷺ , with a similar meaning."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَيَّ الشَّيْطَانُ فَتَنَاوَلْتُهُ فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَخَنَقْتُهُ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ بَرْدَ لِسَانِهِ عَلَى يَدِي وَقَالَ أَوْجَعْتَنِي أَوْجَعْتَنِي وَلَوْلَا مَا دَعَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لَأَصْبَحَ مُنَاطًا إِلَى أُسْطُوَانَةٍ مِنْ أَسَاطِينِ الْمَسْجِدِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ تَابَعَهُ جَابِرُ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ فَرَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمَعْنَاهُ
