3. Ṣalāh (Ritual Prayer)

٣۔ كِتَابُ الصَّلَاةِ

3.41 [Machine] Facing the Qibla with the Adhan and Iqama

٣۔٤١ بَابُ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ بِالْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ

bayhaqi:1838Abū Ṣāliḥ b. Abū Ṭāhir Ibn b. Yaḥyá b. Manṣūr al-Qāḍī > Jaddī Yaḥyá b. Manṣūr > Abū Bakr ʿUmar b. Ḥafṣ al-Sadūsī > ʿĀṣim b. ʿAlī > al-Masʿūdī > ʿAmr b. Murrah > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Laylá > Muʿādh b. Jabal

[Machine] Prayer was mentioned in three situations. First, the state of facing the Qibla (direction of prayer). Then, the state of being preceded by another prayer. And in between, the state of the call to prayer (adhan). He said that they used to gather for prayer and one would call the others to prayer until they became harsh or almost harsh. Then, a man named Abdullah ibn Zaid came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, while I am in a state between sleeping and waking, I saw a person wearing two green garments standing and facing the Qibla. He said, 'Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest), Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest), Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest),' until he completed the adhan twice, twice. Then, in the last adhan, he said, 'Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest), Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest), La ilaha illallah (There is no god but Allah).' Then, he waited for a moment and stood up and said the same as he said before, except that he added, 'The prayer has been established, the prayer has been established.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Teach it to Bilal." Thus, Bilal was the first to call to prayer and Umar ibn al-Khattab came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the same thing happened to me as happened to Abdullah ibn Zaid, except that he reached you before me with its meaning."
