bayhaqi:5353Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. ʿUmar b. Ḥafṣ al-Muqriʾ Ibn al-Ḥamāmī ؒ> Aḥmad b. Salmān al-Najjād > Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. Shākir > Abū Nuʿaym > al-Walīd b. Jumayʿ > Jaddatī > Um

[Machine] Narrated Um Waraqa bint Abdullah ibn al-Harith: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit her and he would call her Al-Shahidah (the witness). She had assembled the Qur'an and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to the Battle of Badr, she asked for his permission to accompany him so that she could treat the wounded and look after the sick. Perhaps Allah, the Most High, might bless her with martyrdom. He granted her permission saying, "Indeed, Allah the Most High, has prepared martyrdom for you." So he called her Al-Shahidah. The Prophet ﷺ had commanded her to lead her household in prayer. She had a maidservant and a young boy who she had taken care of, and they killed her during Umar's rule. It was said that Um Waraqa's maid and her young boy killed her, and they fled. When they were captured, they were brought to her and crucified. They were the first two people to be crucified in Medina. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth when he said, 'Go and pay a visit to Al-Shahidah.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Come with us to visit the martyr, and give the call to prayer for him and stand for prayer, and let the people of his household perform the obligatory duties." Al-Walid ibn Abdullah ibn Jumai'a narrated this on the authority of his grandmother, and Abdur Rahman ibn Khalad al-Ansari narrated it on the authority of Umm Waraqah, with the same meaning as Abu Nuaim's narration.
