"I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night. He started reciting Surat Al-Baqarah and he recited one hundred verses, then did not bow, rather he continued. I thought: 'He will complete it in two rak'ahs, but he continued.' I thought: 'He will complete it and then bow,' but he continued until he recited Surat An-Nisa', then Al Imran. Then he bowed for almost as long as he had stood, saying while bowing: 'Subhan Rabbial-azim, Subhan Rabbial-azim, Subhan Rabbial-azim ( Glory be to my Lord Almighty, Glory be to my Lord Almighty, Glory be to my Lord Almighty).' Then he raised his head and said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him). Then he prostrated and made his prostration lengthy, saying: "Subhan Rabbial-A'la, Subhan Rabbial-A'la, Subhan Rabbial-A'la (Glory be to my Lord Most High, Glory be to my Lord Most High, Glory be to my Lord Most High). And he did not come to any verse that spoke of fear or glorifying Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, but he said something appropriate." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1133)   

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَاسْتَفْتَحَ بِسُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ فَقُلْتُ يَقْرَأُ مِائَةَ آيَةٍ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ فَمَضَى فَقُلْتُ يَخْتِمُهَا ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ فَمَضَى حَتَّى قَرَأَ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ وَآلَ عِمْرَانَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِنْ قِيَامِهِ فَيَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى لَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا تَخْوِيفٌ وَتَعْظِيمٌ إِلَّا ذَكَرَهُ  

[Machine] We have a Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , who said, "Recite it in your Rukoo' (bowing position)." When the verse "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Surah Al-A'la, verse 1] was revealed, he said, "Recite it in your Sujood (prostration)." Abu Ali Al-Rouzabari reported to us, that Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us, who narrated from Abu Dawood, who narrated from Ahmed ibn Yunus, who narrated from Al-Laith, meaning Ibn Saad, who narrated from Ayyub ibn Musa or Musa ibn Ayyub, who narrated from a man from his people, from Uqbah ibn Amer, with a similar meaning. He added, saying, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , when he would bow, he would say, 'Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great, and with His praise,' three times. And when he would prostrate, he would say, 'Glory be to my Lord, the Most High, and with His praise,' three times." Abu Dawood said, "We fear that this addition may not be preserved."  

لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى} [الأعلى 1] قَالَ لَنَا اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ 2556 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا اللَّيْثُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى أَوْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ بِمَعْنَاهُ زَادَ فِيهِ قَالَ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَكَعَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ثَلَاثًا وَإِذَا سَجَدَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى وَبِحَمْدِهِ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَهَذِهِ الزِّيَادَةُ نَخَافُ أَنْ لَا تَكُونَ مَحْفُوظَةً  

Sa’d reported that he heard his father or his uncle say ; I witnessed the Prophet ﷺ while offering prayer. He used to stay in his bowing and his prostration as long as one uttera the words “Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him” three times. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 885)   

رَمَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَكَانَ يَتَمَكَّنُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ قَدْرَ مَا يَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ثَلَاثًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you bows down in prayer, he should say, 'Subhan Rabbiyal Adheem' (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great) three times, for his bowing is complete and that is the least. And when he prostrates, he should say, 'Subhan Rabbiyal A'la' (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) three times, for his prostration is complete and that is the least." This is narrated by 'Awn ibn Abdullah, who did not reach Abdullah ibn Mas'ud.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَكَعَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَدْ تَمَّ رُكُوعُهُ وَذَلِكَ أَدْنَاهُ وَإِذَا سَجَدَ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى يَعْنِي ثَلَاثًا فَقَدْ تَمَّ سُجُودُهُ وَذَلِكَ أَدْنَاهُ هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ عَوْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ  

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, we are always traveling, so how should we perform the prayer?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Perform three tasbihs (glorifications of Allah) during the ruku' (bowing) and three tasbihs during the sujood (prostration). And this is also prescribed."  

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَا نَزَالُ سَفَرًا أَبَدًا فَكَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ ﷺ سَبِّحُوا ثَلَاثَ تَسْبِيحَاتٍ رُكُوعًا وَثَلَاثَ تَسْبِيحَاتٍ سُجُودًا وَهَذَا أَيْضًا مُرْسَلٌ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say often in his prostration, 'Subhanaka wa bihamdik, Allahumma ighfirli' (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You, O Allah, forgive me).' Abu Amr Al-Adib informed us that Abu Bakr Al-Isma'ili informed me, who was informed by Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan, who narrated from Ibn Khallad, who narrated from Yahya, who narrated from Mansur, who mentioned it and said, 'Glory be to You, O our Lord, and praise be to You, O Allah, forgive me.'"  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ فِي رُكُوعِهِ سُبْحَانَكَ وَبِحَمْدِكَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي يَتَأَوَّلُ الْقُرْآنَ 2561 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا ابْنُ خَلَّادٍ ثنا يَحْيَى ثنا مَنْصُورٌ فَذَكَرَهُ وَقَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي يَتَأَوَّلُ الْقُرْآنَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say in his rukoo' (bowing) and sujood (prostration): "Subhanal quddus, Rabbul malaa'ikati war-rooh."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ  

[Machine] Narrated from the Prophet ﷺ : When he began the prayer and mentioned supplications, and He said in it, and when he bowed he said, "O Allah, I bow to You, and in You I believe, and to You I submit. My hearing, sight, and bones humble to You. I think he said, "My mind and nerves".  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ فِيهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ لَكَ رَكَعْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ خَشَعَ لَكَ سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي وَعِظَامِي أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ وَمُخِّي وَعَصَبِي  

ʿO Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed and to You I have submitted. You are my Lord. My hearing my sight, my brain, my bones and my sinews submit to You. Whatever my feet carry is for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 960)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا ابْتَدَأَ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ لَكَ رَكَعْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ أَنْتَ رَبِّي خَشَعَ لَكَ سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي وَمُخِّي وَعَظْمِي وَمَا اسْتَقَلَّتْ بِهِ قَدَمِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
