Say, ‘God! Creator of the heavens and earth! Knower of all that is hidden and all that is open, You will judge between Your servants regarding their differences.’
قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِي مَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
I asked 'A'isha, the mother of the believers, (to tell me) the words with which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commenced the prayer when he got up at night. She said: When he got up at night he would commence his prayer with these words: O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, and Michael, and Israfil, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who knowest the unseen and the seen; Thou decidest amongst Thy servants concerning their differences. Guide me with Thy permission in the divergent views (which the people) hold about Truth, for it is Thou Who guidest whom Thou wilt to the Straight Path.
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَىِّ شَىْءٍ كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلاَتَهُ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ افْتَتَحَ صَلاَتَهُ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرَائِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ إِنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
"I asked 'Aishah: 'With what did the Prophet ﷺ start his prayer?' She said: 'When he got up to pray at night he would start his prayer with the words: Allahumma Rabba Jibril wa Maika'il wa Israfil; Fatirus-samawati wal-ard, 'alim al-ghaybi wash-shahadah, anta tahkumu bayna 'ibadika fima kanu fihi yakhtalifun, Allahumma ihdini limakktulifa fihi min al-haqq innaka tahdi man tasha'ila siratin mustaqim (O Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mika'il and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your slaves concerning wherein they differ. O Allah, guide me to the disputed matters of truth for You are the One Who guides to the Straight Path)."

I asked ‘A’ishah: By what words the Prophet ﷺ used to begin his prayer when he stood up at night (to offer tahajjud prayer). She said: When he stood up at night, he began his prayer by saying: O Allah, Lord of Jibra’il, Lord of Mik’ail, and Lord of Israfil, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, the Knower of what is seen and of what is unseen; Thou decides between Thy servants in which they used to differ. Guide me to the truth where there is a difference of opinion by Thy permission. Thou guidest anyone Thou wishes to the right path.
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ بِأَىِّ شَىْءٍ كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلاَتَهُ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلاَتَهُ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
“I asked Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her]: ‘With what did the Prophet used to open his Salat when he stood up in the night?’ She said: ‘When he stood up in the night, he would open his Salat by saying: “O Allah, Lord of Jibra’il, Mika’il, and Israfil; Originator of the heavens and the earth, [and] Knower of the hidden and the seen; You judge between Your slaves concerning that which they used to differ, guide me through that which there has been difference concerning the truth, verily, You are upon a straight path (Allāhumma rabba Jibrīla wa Mīkā'ila wa Isrāfīl, fāṭira-samāwāti wal-arḍi [wa] ʿālimal-ghaibi wash-shahādati anta taḥkumu baina ʿibādika fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn, ihdini limakhtulifa fīhi minal-ḥaqqi bi'idhnika innaka tahdī man tashā'u ilā ṣirātin mustaqīm).”
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ بِأَىِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلاَتَهُ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ افْتَتَحَ صَلاَتَهُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَعَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ إِنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ
“I asked ʿAishah: ‘With what did the Prophet ﷺ start his voluntary prayers?’ She said: ‘He would say: “Allahumma Rabba Jibra’il wa Mika’il wa Israfil, Fatiras-samawati wal-ard, ʿalimal-ghaybi wash- shahadah, Anta tahkumu baina ʿibadika fima kanu fihi yakhtalifun, ihdini lima-khtulifa fihi minal-haqqi bi idhnika, innaka latahdi ila siratin mustaqim (O Allah, Lord of Jibra’il, Mika’il and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your slaves concerning that wherein they differ. Guide me to the disputed matters of truth by Your Leave, for You are the One Who guides to the straight Path).” (One of the narrators) ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿUmar said: “Bear in mind the word Jibra’il with a Hamzah - this is how it was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ.”

عَائِشَةَ ؓ بِأِيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلَاتَهُ اللهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ إِنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
They also said, ‘God, if this really is the truth from You, then rain stones on us from the heavens, or send us some other painful punishment.’
وَإِذْ قَالُوا۟ ٱللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَٰذَا هُوَ ٱلْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَوِ ٱئْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمࣲ
Abu Jahl said, "O Allah! If this (Qur'an) is indeed the Truth from You, then rain down on us a shower of stones from the sky or bring on us a painful torment." So Allah revealed:-- "But Allah would not punish them while you were amongst them, nor He will punish them while they seek (Allah's) forgiveness..." (8.33) And why Allah should not punish them while they turn away (men) from Al- Masjid-al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque of Mecca)..." (8.33-34)
أَبُو جَهْلٍ {اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ} فَنَزَلَتْ {وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ * وَمَا لَهُمْ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ} الآيَةَ
Abu Jahl said, "O Allah! If this (Qur'an) is indeed the Truth from You), then rain down on us a shower of stones from the sky or bring on us a painful punishment." So there was revealed:-- 'But Allah would not punish them while you (Muhammad) were amongst them, nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) Forgiveness. And why Allah should not punish them while they stop (men) from Al-Masjid-al-Haram ..' (8.33-34)
أَبُو جَهْلٍ {اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ} فَنَزَلَتْ {وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ * وَمَا لَهُمْ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ} الآيَةَ
O Allah, if he is true, then shower upon us the volley of stones from the sky or inflict upon us a grievous torment, and it was on this occasion that this verse was revealed:" 'Allah would never torment them so long as you are amongst them. And Allah is not going to torment them as long as they seek forgiveness. And why is it that Allah should not torment them and they prevent people from coming to the sacred mosque...." (viii. 34) to the end.
أَبُو جَهْلٍ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ فَنَزَلَتْ { وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ * وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلاَّ يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ} إِلَى آخِرِ الآيَةِ
[AI] "O Allah, if this is the truth from You, then rain upon us stones from the sky."
«اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ»
Say, ‘God, holder of all control, You give control to whoever You will and remove it from whoever You will; You elevate whoever You will and humble whoever You will. All that is good lies in Your hand: You have power over everything.
قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ مَٰلِكَ ٱلْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِي ٱلْمُلْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَنزِعُ ٱلْمُلْكَ مِمَّن تَشَآءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَآءُۖ بِيَدِكَ ٱلْخَيْرُۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءࣲ قَدِيرࣱ
[Disbelievers], if you were seeking a decision, now you have witnessed one: if you stop here, it will be better for you. If you return, so shall We, and your forces, though greater in number, will be of no use to you. God is with the believers.
إِن تَسْتَفْتِحُوا۟ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلْفَتْحُۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُوا۟ فَهُوَ خَيْرࣱ لَّكُمْۖ وَإِن تَعُودُوا۟ نَعُدْ وَلَن تُغْنِيَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْـࣰٔا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
God and His angels bless the Prophet- so, you who believe, bless him too and give him greetings of peace.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا
Proclaim the Pilgrimage to all people. They will come to you on foot and on every kind of swift mount, emerging from every deep mountain pass
وَأَذِّن فِي ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالࣰا وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ ضَامِرࣲ يَأْتِينَ مِن كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقࣲ
Their prayer in them will be, ‘Glory be to You, God!’ their greeting, ‘Peace,’ and the last part of their prayer, ‘Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.’
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ فِيهَا سُبْحَٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَٰمࣱۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ أَنِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
yet in [their state of] doubt they take nothing seriously.
بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكࣲّ يَلْعَبُونَ
It will fall on the disbelievers––none can deflect it––
لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعࣱ
those who are steadfast, truthful, truly devout, who give [in God’s cause] and pray before dawn for forgiveness.’
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ
Jesus, son of Mary, said, ‘Lord, send down to us a feast from heaven so that we can have a festival- the first and last of us- and a sign from You. Provide for us: You are the best provider.’
قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ٱللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَآ أَنزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدࣰا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَايَةࣰ مِّنكَۖ وَٱرْزُقْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
praying at dawn for God’s forgiveness,
وَبِٱلْأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people were displayed in front of me and I saw one prophet passing by with a large group of his followers, and another prophet passing by with only a small group of people, and another prophet passing by with only ten (persons), and another prophet passing by with only five (persons), and another prophet passed by alone. And then I looked and saw a large multitude of people, so I asked Gabriel, "Are these people my followers?' He said, 'No, but look towards the horizon.' I looked and saw a very large multitude of people. Gabriel said. 'Those are your followers, and those are seventy thousand (persons) in front of them who will neither have any reckoning of their accounts nor will receive any punishment.' I asked, 'Why?' He said, 'For they used not to treat themselves with branding (cauterization) nor with Ruqya (get oneself treated by the recitation of some Verses of the Qur'an) and not to see evil omen in things, and they used to put their trust (only) in their Lord." On hearing that, 'Ukasha bin Mihsan got up and said (to the Prophet), "Invoke Allah to make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, make him one of them." Then another man got up and said (to the Prophet), "Invoke Allah to make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Ukasha has preceded you."
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُرِضَتْ عَلَىَّ الأُمَمُ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ يَمُرُّ مَعَهُ الأُمَّةُ وَالنَّبِيُّ يَمُرُّ مَعَهُ النَّفَرُ وَالنَّبِيُّ يَمُرُّ مَعَهُ الْعَشَرَةُ وَالنَّبِيُّ يَمُرُّ مَعَهُ الْخَمْسَةُ وَالنَّبِيُّ يَمُرُّ وَحْدَهُ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ كَثِيرٌ قُلْتُ يَا جِبْرِيلُ هَؤُلاَءِ أُمَّتِي قَالَ لاَ وَلَكِنِ انْظُرْ إِلَى الأُفُقِ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ كَثِيرٌ قَالَ هَؤُلاَءِ أُمَّتُكَ وَهَؤُلاَءِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا قُدَّامَهُمْ لاَ حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ عَذَابَ قُلْتُ وَلِمَ قَالَ كَانُوا لاَ يَكْتَوُونَ وَلاَ يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلاَ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فَقَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ قَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "From my followers there will enter Paradise a crowd, seventy thousand in number, whose faces will glitter as the moon does when it is full." On hearing that, 'Ukasha bin Mihsan Al-Asdi got up, lifting his covering sheet, and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Invoke Allah that He may make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, make him one of them." Another man from the Ansar got up and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Invoke Allah to make me one of them. "The Prophet ﷺ said (to him), "'Ukasha has preceded you."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ وَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ سَبَقَكَ عُكَّاشَةُ
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying "From among my followers, a group (o 70,000) will enter Paradise without being asked for their accounts, Their faces will be shining like the moon." 'Ukasha bin Muhsin Al-Asadi got up, lifting his covering sheet and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." The Prophet ﷺ said! "O Allah! Make him from them." Then another man from Al-Ansar got up and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." On that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "'Ukasha has anticipated you."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هِيَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ فَقَامَ عُكَاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ قَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ سَبَقَكَ عُكَاشَةُ
Seventy thousand (persons) of my Ummah would enter Paradise without rendering an account. Upon this a person said: Messenger of Allah. pray to Allah that He make me one of them. He (the Holy Prophet) said: O Allah! make him one of them. Then another stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He make me one of them. He (the Holy Prophet) said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you in this matter.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: A group of my Ummah consisting of seventy thousand persons would enter Paradise; their faces would be as bright as the brightness of the full moon. Abd Huraira said: 'Ukkasha b. Mihsan al-Asadi then stood up wrapping the blanket around him and said: Messenger of Allah, supplicate (before) Allah that He should make me one among them. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, make him among them. Then stood up a man from the Ansa and said: Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He should make me one among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you in this matter.
قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying "From among my followers, a group (o 70,000) will enter Paradise without being asked for their accounts, Their faces will be shining like the moon." [AI] I heard Abu Al-Qasim ﷺ saying, "Seventy thousand people from my nation will enter paradise without being held accountable." A man then said, "Pray to Allah to make me one of them." Allah replied, "O Allah, make him one of them." Then another man stood up and said, "Pray to Allah to make me one of them." Allah responded, "Ukkashah has preceded you in this."
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فقال اللهُمْ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ فَقَالَ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Seventy thousand people from my Ummah (followers) will enter Paradise without being held to account." Then 'Ukkashah bin Mihsan said: "O Messenger of Allah, supplicate to Allah to make me among them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allahumma aij'alhu minhum (O Allah, make him among them)." Then another person said: "O Messenger of Allah, supplicate to Allah to make me among them." He ﷺ said: "Sabaqaka biha 'Ukkashah (Ukkashah has beaten you to it)."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ فَقَالَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ ادْعُ اللهَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ آخَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Seventy thousand people from my Ummah (community) will enter Paradise without being held accountable." Ukasha said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "You are one of them." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ukasha has preceded you in asking for this."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The first group from my ummah (followers) to enter Paradise will be like the moon on a full moon night, then those who come after them will be like the brightest star in the sky. Ukkashah ibn Mihsan stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me among them.' He said, 'O Allah, make him among them.' Then another man stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me among them.' He said, 'Ukkashah has beaten you to it.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَحْسَنِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ إِضَاءَةً فِي السَّمَاءِ فَقَامَ عُكَاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ قَدْ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, the first group from my Ummah to enter Paradise will be like the full moon on a clear night, then those who follow them will be like the brightest star in the sky." Ukashah stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me among them." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, make him among them." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me among them." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Ukashah has surpassed you in that."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ أَوَّلَ زُمْرَةٍ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَحْسَنِ كَوْكَبٍ إِضَاءَةً فِي السَّمَاءِ» فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ «سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The first group to enter Paradise will have faces shining like the full moon on a night of a lunar eclipse. Then those who follow them will have faces as bright as the brightest star in the sky." Ukasha ibn Muhsin stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." He said, "O Allah, make him one of them." Another person stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." He said, "Ukasha has already reached that position."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ وُجُوهُهُمْ عَلَى ضَوْءِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَحْسَنِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ أَضَاءَتْ فِي السَّمَاءِ» فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمُ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» فَقَامَ آخِرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ «سَبَقَكَ إِلَيْهَا عُكَّاشَةُ»
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "The nations were presented to me, and I saw my nation, and I was amazed by their countless number and their appearance, as they filled the plains and mountains. Then Allah said, 'O Muhammad, are you pleased?' I said, 'Yes, my Lord.' Allah said, 'With them are also seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being held accountable. They are those who do not seek omens, do not burn themselves with branding, and do not seek blessings through the performance of actions. Rather, they put their trust in their Lord.' Ukkashah said, 'O Allah, make me one of them.' Allah replied, 'You are one of them.' Then another man said, 'O Allah, make me one of them.' Allah said, 'Ukkashah has preceded you in asking for that.'"
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأُمَمُ بِالْمَوْسِمِ فَرَأَيْتُ أُمَّتِي فَأَعْجَبَتْنِي كَثْرَتُهُمْ وَهَيْئَتُهُمْ قَدْ مَلَؤُوا السَّهْلَ وَالْجَبَلَ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَرَضِيتَ؟ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ أَيْ رَبِّ قَالَ وَمَعَ هَؤُلَاءِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلَا يَكْتَوُونَ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ» فَقَالَ عُكَّاشَةُ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ «سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seventy thousand people from my Ummah (community) will enter Paradise without being held accountable." قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ» قَالَ فَقَالَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» فَقَالَ آخَرُ «ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ » سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ «
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seventy thousand of my Ummah (followers) will enter Paradise without being held accountable. They do not seek Ruqyah (protection through recitation), nor do they believe in the influence of evil omens, and they put their trust in their Lord."
Upon hearing this, 'Ukkasha bin Mihsan stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, make him one of them."
Then, another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make me one of them." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Ukkasha has preceded you in that."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ لَا يَكْتَوُونَ وَلَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ» فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ «سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ»
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying "From among my followers, a group (o 70,000) will enter Paradise without being asked for their accounts, Their faces will be shining like the moon." 'Ukasha bin Muhsin Al-Asadi got up, lifting his covering sheet and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." The Prophet ﷺ said! "O Allah! Make him from them." Then another man from Al-Ansar got up and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." On that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "'Ukasha has anticipated you." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5811)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هِيَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ ادْعُ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah bestow your blessings on their measures, bless their Mudd and Sa." The Prophet ﷺ meant the people of Medina.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي صَاعِهِمْ وَمُدِّهِمْ يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah! Bestow Your Blessings on their measures, and bestow Your Blessings on their Sa' and Mudd." He meant those of the people of Medina.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي صَاعِهِمْ وَمُدِّهِمْ يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah! Bestow Your Blessings on their measures, Sa' and Mudd (i.e., of the people of Medina).
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ وَصَاعِهِمْ وَمُدِّهِمْ
Allah bless them in their measurements, bless them in their sa's and bless them in their mudd.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي صَاعِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مُدِّهِمْ
O Allah, bless us in our sa' and mud and shower with its blessings two other blessings (multiply blessings showerted upon it).
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا وَمُدِّنَا وَاجْعَلْ مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ بَرَكَتَيْنِ
[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "O Allah, bless us in our city, O Allah, bless us in our scales, and grant us two blessings with every blessing."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مُدِّنَا اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا وَاجْعَلْ مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ بَرَكَتَيْنِ

We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when we were in the Harrah, at as-Suqya (a halting place between Makkah and Madinah) which belonged to Saʿd bin Abi Waqqas, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿBring me some water for wudoo’.” When he had done wudoo he stood up and turned to face the qiblah, then he said takbeer, then he said: O Allah, Ibrahim was Your slave and Your close friend; he prayed for blessing for the people of Makkah. I am Muhammad, Your slave and Your Messenger; I am praying to You for the people of Madinah - bless their mudd and saʿ [weights and measures] as You blessed the people of Makkah, double the blessing You bestowed upon the people of Makkah, a twofold blessing.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 936)
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْحَرَّةِ بِالسُّقْيَا الَّتِي كَانَتْ لِسَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْتُونِي بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَانَ عَبْدَكَ وَخَلِيلَكَ دَعَا لِأَهْلِ مَكَّةَ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَأنا مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ أَدْعُوكَ لِأَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ تَبَارَكَ لَهُمْ فِي مُدِّهِمْ وَصَاعِهِمْ مِثْلَيْ مَا بَارَكْتَ لِأَهْلِ مَكَّةَ مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ بَرَكَتَيْنِ» أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي مِكْيَالِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي صَاعِهِمْ وَفِي مُدِّهِمْ» يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ
