The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spend the middle ten days of Ramadan in retirement and devotion (i'tikaf) in the mosque. One year he had retirement and devotion in the mosque (as usual); when the twenty-first night came, and this night when he used to come out his devotion in the mosque, he said: He who has engaged himself in devotion along with me should do so during the last ten days; I saw that night, that was caused to forget it, but I have seen myself prostrating in water and mud on the morning following (that night), so seek it in the last ten days and seek it every night with an odd number. Abu sa'id said: Rain fell that night, the mosque that was thatched building dripped, and my eyes saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the traces of water and mud, on his forehead on the morning following the twenty-first night. أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْوَسَطَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَاعْتَكَفَ عَامًا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ لَيْلَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ وَهِيَ اللَّيْلَةُ الَّتِي يَخْرُجُ مِنْ صَبِيحَتَهَا مِنَ اعْتِكَافِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ كَانَ اعْتَكَفَ مَعِي فَلْيَعْتَكِفِ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي فِي صَبِيحَتِهَا أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي كُلِّ وِتْرٍ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَأَمْطَرَتِ السَّمَاءُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ وَكَانَ الْمَسْجِدُ عَلَى عَرِيشٍ فَوَكَفَ الْمَسْجِدُ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَايَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ انْصَرَفَ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَأَنْفِهِ أَثَرُ الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ مِنْ صَبِيحَةِ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ  

[Machine] That a man urinates while standing, and people pass by him and there is nothing in front of him to cover him, and the man wipes off the dirt from his face while he is in prayer, and he hears the caller to prayer but does not respond to him in his words, and likewise.  

أَنْ يَبُولَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا وَصَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ وَالنَّاسُ يَمُرُّونَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ شَيْءٌ يَسْتُرُهُ وَمَسْحُ الرَّجُلِ التُّرَابَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَهُوَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ وَأَنْ يَسْمَعَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَلَا يُجِيبَهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ وَكَذَلِكَ  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are four offensive things: a man urinating while standing, or wiping his forehead excessively before completing his prayer, or talking like the Mu'adhdhin calls for prayer, or praying in the way that someone disrupts his prayer." Abu Sa'id al-Malini narrated to us, Abu Ahmad bin 'Adi informed us, 'Abdus Samad bin 'Abdullah al-Dimashqi narrated to us, Duhaim informed me, Ibn Abi Fudayk informed me, Harun bin Harun bin 'Abdullah bin al-Hudair al-Taymi mentioned it. Abu Ahmad said: his narrations from al-A'raj and others are not continued by reliable narrators. Abu Ahmad said: al-Junaydi narrated to us, al-Bukhari narrated to us. Harun bin Harun said: he is not followed in his hadith, he narrates from al-A'raj, and it is said that he is the brother of Muhriz al-Taymi al-Madani. The scholar said: it has been narrated in other weak ways, and it has been narrated from Ibn Abbas that he said: he does not wipe his face with dust in prayer until he makes the Tashahhud and says the Salam."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ مِنَ الْجَفَاءِ يَبُولُ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا أَوْ يُكْثِرُ مَسْحَ جَبْهَتِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَفْرُغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ أَوْ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ يُؤَذِّنُ فَلَا يَقُولُ مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ أَوْ يُصَلِّي بِسَبِيلِ مَنْ يَقْطَعُ صَلَاتَهُ أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْمَالِينِيُّ أنبأ أَبُوأَحْمَدَ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا دُحَيْمٌ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ هَارُونَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهُدَيْرِ التَّيْمِيُّ فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ أَحَادِيثُهُ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ وَغَيْرِهِ مِمَّا لَا يُتَابِعُهُ الثِّقَاتُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ثنا الْجُنَيْدِيُّ ثنا الْبُخَارِيُّ قَالَ هَارُونُ بْنُ هَارُونَ لَا يُتَابَعُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ يَرْوِي عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ يُقَالُ هُوَ أَخُو مُحْرِزٍ التَّيْمِيِّ الْمَدَنِيِّ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ أُخَرَ كُلُّهَا ضَعِيفَةٌ وَرُوِيَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ مِنَ التُّرَابِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى يَتَشَهَّدَ وَيُسَلِّمَ  

[Machine] The angels continue to pray for humans as long as the trace of prostration is on their face. Al-Abbas said: "No one else reported this hadith." The Sheikh said: "And it was narrated to us from Sa'id bin Jubair that he considered it a form of rudeness, and from Al-Hasan that he did not see any harm in it."  

لَا تَزَالُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تُصَلِّي عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ مَا دَامَ أَثَرُ السُّجُودِ فِي وَجْهِهِ قَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ لَمْ يُحَدِّثْ بِهِ غَيْرُهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ عَدَّهُ مِنَ الْجَفَاءِ وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا
