[Machine] That Gabriel came down and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then he said, "Am I ordered with this?" Omar said to Urwa, "Look what you are narrating, O Urwa, or is it Gabriel who established the prayer for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the time of prayer?" Urwa said, "Bashir bin Abi Mas'ood narrated it from his father." Urwa said, "Aisha, the prophet's wife ﷺ, told me that the prophet ﷺ used to pray Asr while the sun was still in her room before it appeared."  

أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ بِهَذَا أُمِرْتُ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِعُرْوَةَ انْظُرْ مَا تُحَدِّثُ يَا عُرْوَةُ أَوْ أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ هُوَ أَقَامَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقْتَ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ بَشِيرُ بْنُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ وَلَقَدْ حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ فِي حُجْرَتِهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَظْهَرَ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Jibreel (Gabriel) came to me and granted me safety, so I prayed with him. Then he came again and granted me safety, so I prayed with him. And then he came a third time and granted me safety, so I prayed with him, until he counted five prayers." Umar ibn Abdul Aziz said, "Fear Allah and consider what you are saying, O Urwah." Urwah said, "Bashir ibn Abi Mas'ud informed me from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Jibreel came to me and granted me safety, so I prayed with him. Then he came again and granted me safety, so I prayed with him, until he counted five prayers. And so it was.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَمَّنَا فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنَا فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنَا فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى عَدَّ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ اتَّقِ اللهَ وَانْظُرْ مَا تَقُولُ يَا عُرْوَةُ فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي بَشِيرُ بْنُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ فَأَمَّنَا فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنَا فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى عَدَّ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ وَكَذَلِكَ  

'Umar b. 'Abdul 'Aziz was sitting on the pulpit and he somewhat postponed the afternoon prayer. 'Urwah b. al-Zubair said to him: "Gabriel informed Muhammed ﷺ of the time of prayer". So 'Umar said to him: "Be sure of what you are saying". 'Urwah then replied: "I heard Bashir b. Abu Mas'ud say that he heard Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Gabriel came down and informed me of the time of prayer, and I prayed along with him, then prayed along with him, then I prayed along with him, then I prayed along with him, then I prayed along with him, reckoning with his fingers five times of the prayer.' I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offering the Duhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian. Sometimes he would delay it when it was sever heat ; and I witnessed that he prayer the 'Asr prayer when the sun was high and bright before the yellowness had overcome it; then a man could go off after the prayer and reach Dhu'l-Hulaifah before the sunset, and he would pray Maghrib when the sun had set ; and he would pray the 'Isha prayer when darkness prevailed over the horizon; sometime he would delay it until the people assembled; and once he prayer the fair prayer in the darkness of dawn and at another time he prayed it when it became fairly light; but later on he continued to pray in the darkness of dawn until his death; he never prayed it again in the light of the dawn." Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted from al-Zuhri by Ma'mar, Malik, Ibn 'Uyainah, Shu'aib b. Abi Hamzah, and al-Laith b. Sa'd and others; but they did not mention the time in which he (the Prophet) had prayer, nor did they explain it. And similarly it has been narrated by Hisham b. 'Urwah and Habib b. Abu Mazruq from 'Urwah like the report of Ma'mar and his companions. But Habib did not make a mention of Bashir. And Wahb b. Kaisan reported on the authority of Jabir from the Prophet ﷺ the time of the Maghrib prayer. He said: "Next day he (Gabriel) came to him at the time of the Maghrib prayer when the sun had already set. (He came both days) at the same time." Abu Dawud said: Similarly, this tradition has been transmitted by Abu Hurairah from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: "Then he (Gabriel) led me in the sunset prayer next day at the same time." Similarly, this tradition has been narrated through a different chain by 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr b. al-'As, through a chain from Hassan b. 'Atiyyah, from 'Amr b. Shu'aib, from his father, on the authority from the Prophet ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 394)   

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي بِوَقْتِ الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ يَحْسِبُ بِأَصَابِعِهِ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ وَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ حِينَ تَزُولُ الشَّمْسُ وَرُبَّمَا أَخَّرَهَا حِينَ يَشْتَدُّ الْحَرُّ وَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ بَيْضَاءُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَهَا الصُّفْرَةُ فَيَنْصَرِفُ الرَّجُلُ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فَيَأْتِي ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ قَبْلَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ وَيُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ حِينَ تَسْقُطُ الشَّمْسُ وَيُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ حِينَ يَسْوَدُّ الْأُفُقُ وَرُبَّمَا أَخَّرَهَا حَتَّى يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ وَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ بِغَلَسٍ ثُمَّ صَلَّى مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَأَسْفَرَ بِهَا ثُمَّ كَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِغَلَسٍ حَتَّى مَاتَ لَمْ يَعْدُ إِلَى أَنْ يُسْفِرَ وَتَفْسِيرُ كَيْفِيَّةِ صَلَاةِ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ وَهُوَ فِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَغَيْرِهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "The Angel Gabriel led me in prayer twice near the House (the Kaaba). He prayed the Dhuhr prayer with me when the sun had passed its zenith, and its shade was equivalent to its own length. Then, he prayed the Asr prayer with me when the shadow of everything was equal to its length. Then, he prayed the Maghrib prayer with me when the fasting person broke their fast. Then, he prayed the Isha prayer with me when the twilight had disappeared. Then, he prayed the Fajr prayer with me when eating and drinking are prohibited for the fasting person. Then, he prayed the Dhuhr prayer with me the next day when the shadow of everything was equal to its length. Then, he prayed the Asr prayer with me when the shadow of everything was equal to its length. Then, he prayed the Maghrib prayer with me when the fasting person broke their fast. Then, he prayed the Isha prayer with me for the first third of the night. Then, he prayed the Fajr prayer with me when the dawn appeared. Then, he turned to me and said, 'O Muhammad, this is the timing of the Prophets before you, and the timing during these two timings (meaning the time between Dhuhr and Asr, and between Maghrib and Isha) is 1703.' Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Ahmad bin Abdan informed us, Ahmad bin Ubaid As-Saffar told us, Ismail bin Ishaq told us, Ibrahim bin Hamzah Az-Zubayri told us, Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad Ad-Darawardi told us, from Abdul Rahman, who is the son of Al-Harith bin Abdullah bin Ayyash bin Abi Rabiah Al-Makhzumi, who narrated this story from Hakim mentioned it in its meaning. We have also narrated it from Jabir bin Abdullah, Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari, Abdullah bin Umar, and Abu Hurairah, and Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, regarding the story of Gabriel leading the Prophet, ﷺ , in prayer in Makkah. It is also confirmed by Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari and Buraidah bin Al-Hasaib, and Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As regarding the prayer timings in other than this story, and we convey its narration, if Allah wills."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَّنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ مَرَّتَيْنِ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ فَصَلَّى بِيَ الظُّهْرَ حِينَ مَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَكَانَتْ بِقَدْرِ الشِّرَاكِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْعَصْرَ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مِثْلَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْمَغْرِبَ حِينَ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْعِشَاءَ حِينَ غَابَ الشَّفَقُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْفَجْرَ حِينَ حَرُمَ الطَّعَامُ وَالشَّرَابُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الظُّهْرَ مِنَ الْغَدِ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مِثْلَ ظِلِّهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْعَصْرَ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مِثْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْمَغْرِبَ حِينَ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْعِشَاءَ لَثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِيَ الْفَجْرَ فَأَسْفَرَ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ هَذَا وَقْتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَالْوَقْتُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْوَقْتَيْنِ 1703 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ عَنْ حَكِيمٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ فِي قِصَّةِ إِمَامَةِ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ وَثَبَتَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ وَبُرَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْحَصِيبِ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي مَوَاقِيتِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي غَيْرِ هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ وَنَحْنُ نَأْتِي عَلَى رِوَايَتِهَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى
