٢٧۔ كِتَابُ مَعْرِفَةِ الصَّحَابَةِ ؓ ص ١٨
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
أَمَّا الشَّيْخَانِ فَإِنَّهُمَا لَمْ يَزِيدَا عَلَى الْمَنَاقِبِ، وَقَدْ بَدَأْنَا فِي أَوَّلِ ذِكْرِ الصَّحَابِيِّ بِمَعْرِفَةِ نَسَبِهِ وَوَفَاتِهِ، ثُمَّ بِمَا يَصِحُّ عَلَى شَرْطِهِمَا مِنْ مَنَاقِبِهِ مِمَّا لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ فَلَمْ أَسْتَغْنِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْوَاقِدِيِّ وَأَقْرَانِهِ فِي الْمَعْرِفَةِ
[Machine] "Saeed bin Amir bin Hizyam bin Salaman bin Rabia bin Saad bin Jumah, and Umar appointed him as a leader of some troops in Syria. He died while still performing his duties in Syria in the year twenty."
«سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ حِذْيَمِ بْنِ سَلَامَانَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ جُمَحٍ وَكَانَ وَلَّاهُ عُمَرُ بَعْضَ أَجْنَادِ الشَّامِ فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ عَلَى عَمَلِهِ بِالشَّامِ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ»
[Machine] "I consider them and console them, so I gave them ten thousand (dirhams), then took it back and said, 'Surely I have servants and horses, and I am in a good state, and I want my action to be a charity for the Muslims.' Umar said to me, 'Do not do that. Surely the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, gave me wealth less than it, so I said something similar to what you said. He said to me, 'When Allah gives you wealth that you did not ask for and did not covet, then take it, for it is the sustenance that Allah has given you.'" أُرَاعِيهُمْ وَأُواسِيهُمْ فَأَعْطَاهُ عَشْرَةَ آلَافٍ فَرَدَّهَا وَقَالَ إِنَّ لِي أَعْبُدًا وَأَفْرَاسًا وَأَنَا بِخَيْرٍ وَأُرِيدُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَمَلِي صَدَقَةً عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لَا تَفْعَلْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَعْطَانِي مَالَا دُونَهَا فَقُلْتُ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قُلْتَ فَقَالَ لِي «إِذَا أَعْطَاكَ اللَّهُ مَالًا لَمْ تَسْأَلْهُ وَلَمْ تَشْرِهِ نَفْسَكَ إِلَيْهِ فَخُذْهُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ رِزْقُ اللَّهِ أَعْطَاكَ إِيَّاهُ» حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه
27.99 [Machine] The mention of Anas ibn Marthad ibn Abi Marthad Al-Ghanawi
٢٧۔٩٩ ذِكْرُ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "And Anas ibn Marthad ibn Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi, also known as Abu Yazid, was a companion of Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib. He passed away in the year twenty, in the month of Rabi al-Awwal. He had a twenty-one-year age difference with his father, as I mentioned before when talking about Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi. After him, his son Marthad came, and this is his grandson. All of them are from the companions, as Al-Dhahabi mentioned in his summary of their weakness."
«وَأَنَسُ بْنُ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيُّ يُكَنَّى أَبَا يَزِيدَ حَلِيفُ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَكَانَ مَوْتُهُ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ فِي شَهْرِ رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ وَكَانَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَبِيهِ فِي السِّنِّ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً قَدْ ذَكَرْتُ فِيمَا تَقَدَّمَ أَبَا مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيَّ وَبَعْدَهُ أَبِنْهُ مَرْثَدَ وَهَذَا الْحَفِيدُ وَكُلُّهُمْ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

٢٧۔١٠٠ ذِكْرُ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "And the leader is Said, son of Hudayr, son of Simak, son of Atiq, son of Rafi, son of Imru' al-Qays, son of Zaid, son of Abdul Ashhal. He is also called Abu Yahya and he passed away in the year twenty."
«وَأُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرِ بْنِ سِمَاكِ بْنِ عَتِيكِ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ امْرِئِ الْقَيْسِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ وَيُكَنَّى أَبَا يَحْيَى تُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ»
[Machine] "Abu Yahya Usaid ibn Hudayr died in the year twenty. He had witnessed the Battle of Uhud and was appointed as a military commander by Umar ibn al-Khattab in Medina. He was buried in al-Baqi Cemetery. He had two nicknames, Abu Yahya and Abu Hudayr. His father was Hudayr al-Katib. Usaid did not have any offspring."
«مَاتَ أَبُو يَحْيَى أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَكَانَ قَدْ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ ثُمَّ كَانَ نَقِيبًا صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَدُفِنَ بِالْبَقِيعِ وَلَهُ كُنْيَتَانِ أَبُو يَحْيَى وَأَبُو حُضَيْرٍ وَأَبُوهُ حُضَيْرُ الْكَاتِبُ وَلَمْ يُعْقِبْ أُسَيْدٌ»
[Machine] It is said that Abu Bahir was a noble and respected person among his people during the pre-Islamic era and in Islam. He was considered one of their intellectuals and had his own opinions. He was also a scribe, just like his father Al-Hudhayr al-Katib before him. Al-Hudhayr was the leader of the Aws tribe on the day of Bu'ath (a battle) and he was killed on that day. Usaid bin Hudhayr was one of the seventy Ansar (helpers) who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of Al-Aqaba according to the narrations of all narrators. He was also one of the twelve leaders and was a brother to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between Usaid bin Hudhayr and Zayd bin Haritha. Usaid did not actually participate in the Battle of Badr, nor did he or others from among the great companions participate in Badr itself, because they did not anticipate that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would engage in a battle or fight. However, Usaid did participate in the Battle of Uhud and on that day he received seven wounds. He remained steadfast with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the people fled. He also witnessed the Battle of the Trench and all the other events with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . (This information was omitted by Al-Dhahabi in his summarization due to its weakness.)
وَيُقَالُ أَبَا بَحْرٍ وَكَانَ أُسَيْدٌ شَرِيفًا فِي قَوْمِهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ يُعَدُّ مِنْ عُقَلَائِهِمْ وَذَوِي آرَائِهِمْ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَتَبَةِ وَكَانَ أَبُوهُ الْحُضَيْرِ الْكَاتِبَ كَذَلِكَ مَنْ قَبْلَهُ وَكَانَ رَئِيسَ الْأَوْسِ يَوْمَ بُعَاثَ وَقُتِلَ حُضَيْرٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَأُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ أَحَدُ السَّبْعِينَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ الَّذِينَ بَايَعُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ فِي رِوَايَةٍ جَمِيعِهِمْ وَأَحَدُ النُّقَبَاءِ الِاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ وَآخَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ وَزَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَلَمْ يَشْهَدْ أُسَيْدٌ بَدْرًا تَخَلَّفَ هُوَ وَغَيْرُهُ مِنْ أَكَابِرِ الصَّحَابَةِ مِنَ النُّقَبَاءِ وَغَيْرِهِمْ عَنْ بَدْرٍ لِأَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَظُنُّوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَلْقَى حَرْبًا وَلَا قِتَالًا وَشَهِدَ أُسَيْدٌ أُحُدًا وَجُرِحَ يَوْمَئِذٍ سَبْعَ جِرَاحَاتٍ وَثَبَتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ انْكَشَفَ النَّاسُ وَشَهِدَ الْخَنْدَقَ وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه
[Machine] He used to recite on the back of his house and he had a beautiful voice. He said, "While I was reciting, something like a cloud covered me. The woman in the house and the horse in the stable scared me, thinking that the woman might fall. So, I became afraid and went to relieve her of her fear. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Continue your recitation, for it was an Angel who was listening to your recitation."
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ حَسَنُ الصَّوْتِ قَالَ فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَقْرَأُ إِذْ غَشِيَنِي شَيْءٌ كَالسَّحَابِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَالْفَرَسُ فِي الدَّارِ فَتَخَوَّفْتُ أَنْ تَسْقُطَ الْمَرْأَةُ فَانْصَرَفْتُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَلَكٌ اسْتَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ»
[Machine] I have heard the sermon of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and whenever I witness a funeral, I have never witnessed a funeral like it before. So, I talk to myself about what has happened and what will happen to it.
سَمِعْتُ خُطْبَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِذَا شَهِدْتُ جِنَازَةً فَمَا شَهِدْتُ جِنَازَةً قَطُّ فَحَدَّثْتُ نَفْسِي سِوَى مَا هُوَ مَفْعُولٌ بِهَا وَمَا هِيَ صَائِرَةٌ إِلَيْهِ
[Machine] "Usaid ibn Hudair and Abbad ibn Bishr were with the Prophet ﷺ on a dark night in Hindis. When they left, one of them's staff illuminated and they walked in its light. When they separated, the other's staff also illuminated." This hadith is authentic according to the criteria of Imam Muslim, and he did not exclude it in his collection of hadiths.
«كَانَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ وَعَبَّادُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ظَلْمَاءَ حِنْدِسٍ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَا أَضَاءَتْ عَصَا أَحَدِهُمَا فَمَشِيَا فِي ضَوْءِهَا فَلَمَّا افْتَرَقَا أَضَاءَتْ عَصَا الْآخَرُ» صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط مسلم
[Machine] Usaid ibn Hudayr was a righteous, cheerful, and handsome man. While he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he was talking to the people and making them laugh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stabbed him in his side. Usaid said, "You hurt me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Take revenge." Usaid said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have a shirt on, but I don't." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ lifted his shirt and embraced Usaid, then he kissed his wound. Usaid said, "By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, I wanted this." This is the wording of the hadith narrated by Jarir from Husayn. The hadith in Waraqaa is shorter with a sound chain of narration, but they did not mention it. Authentic.
كَانَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا ضَاحِكًا مَلِيحًا فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُحَدِّثُ الْقَوْمَ وَيُضْحِكُهُمْ فَطَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي خَاصِرَتِهِ فَقَالَ أَوْجَعَتْنِي قَالَ «اقْتَصَّ قَالَ» يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عَلَيْكَ قَمِيصًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيَّ قَمِيصٌ قَالَ فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَمِيصَهُ فَاحْتَضَنَهُ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ يُقَبِّلُ كَشْحَهُ فَقَالَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَدْتُ هَذَا «هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ فَإِنَّ حَدِيثَ وَرْقَاءَ مُخْتَصَرٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What a noble man is Usayd ibn Hudayr."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ»
[Machine] "He sighed and prayed with us while seated. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned and they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, Ussayd is our imam, but he is sick and he prayed with us while seated.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Then pray behind him while seated, for the imam should be followed. When he prays while seated, then pray behind him while seated.' This hadith has a sound chain of narration and it has not been excluded from Sahih."
أَنَّهُ كَانَ تَأَوَّهُ وَكَانَ يَؤُمُّنَا فَصَلَّى بِنَا قَاعِدًا فَعَادَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُسَيْدًا إِمَامُنَا وَإِنَّهُ مَرِيضٌ وَإِنَّهُ صَلَّى بِنَا قَاعِدًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَصَلُّوا وَرَاءَهُ قُعُودًا فَإِنَّ الْإِمَامَ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا خَلْفَهُ قُعُودًا» صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح
[Machine] So I said to him, "Glory to Allah! You are one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and you have precedence. Why are you crying over a woman?" Then he uncovered his head and said, "You spoke the truth, by the oath of Allah. I swear, I will not cry over anyone after Saad ibn Muadh." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said something that no one else had said. So I asked him, "What did he say?" He replied, "Indeed, the Throne has shaken because of the death of Saad ibn Muadh." Aisha said, "O Usaid ibn Hudayr, it is correct on the terms of a Muslim condition that he did not lie." Adh-Dhahabi deleted it from his summarized version due to its weakness.
فَقُلْتُ لَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ أَنْتَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَكَ السَّابِقَةُ مَا لَكَ تَبْكِي عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ؟ فَكَشَفَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ صَدَقْتِ لَعَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ لَيَحِقُّ أَنْ لَا أَبْكِيَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ بَعْدَ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ وَمَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ «لَقَدِ اهْتَزَّ الْعَرْشُ لِوَفَاةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ» قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَأُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ يَسِيرُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه
27.101 [Machine] The Mention of 'Ayyad bin Ghanm al-Ash'ari
٢٧۔١٠١ ذِكْرُ عِيَاضِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "The light sea: 'Ayyad, and 'Ayyad ibn Ghannam, was among the best of what women gave birth to. He was the first to journey to Rome."
[البحر الخفيف] عِيَاضٌ وَمَا عِيَاضُ بْنُ غَنْمٍ كَانَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا أَجَنَّ النِّسَاءَ هُوَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَجَازَ الدَّرْبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ
[Machine] From his elders, they said, "Ayyad ibn Ghannam ibn Zuhair ibn Abi Shaddad ibn Rabia ibn Hilal ibn Ahayb ibn Dabbah ibn Al-Harith ibn Fehr accepted Islam before the Battle of Hudaybiyyah and witnessed the Battle of Hudaybiyyah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He had with him Umm al-Hakam bint Abi Sufyan ibn Harb. When Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah passed away, he appointed Ayyad to succeed him, and Ayyad was a righteous man. When the news of his death reached Umar ibn al-Khattab, he expressed great sorrow and mercy towards him, and he said, 'No one can take your place. Who was appointed to take care of his affairs?' They said, 'Ayyad ibn Ghannam.' Umar confirmed it and wrote to him, 'Indeed, I have appointed you to the position that Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah held, so work according to what is right for Allah upon you.' Ayyad died the day he died, and he had no wealth, nor did he owe anyone. He was buried in Sham (Greater Syria) in the year twenty at the age of sixty."
عَنْ شُيُوخِهِ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا «عِيَاضُ بْنُ غَنْمِ بْنِ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَدَّادِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ ضَبَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ » أَسْلَمَ قَبْلَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَشَهِدَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أُمُّ الْحَكَمِ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ الْوَفَاةُ اسْتَخْلَفَ عِيَاضًا عَلَى مَا كَانَ يَلِيهِ وَكَانَ عِيَاضٌ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا فَلَمَّا نُعِيَ إِلَى عُمَرَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ أَكْثَرَ الِاسْتِرْجَاعَ وَالتَّرَحُّمَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ لَا يَشُدُّ مَشَدَّكِ أَحَدٌ وَسَأَلَ مَنِ اسْتُخْلِفَ عَلَى عَمَلِهِ فَقَالُوا عِيَاضُ بْنُ غَنْمٍ فَأَقَرَّهُ وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنِّي قَدْ وَلَّيْتُكَ مَا كَانَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ عَلَيْهِ فَاعْمَلْ بِالَّذِي يَحِقُّ لِلَّهِ عَلَيْكَ فَمَاتَ عِيَاضٌ يَوْمَ مَاتَ وَمَا لَهُ مَالٌ وَلَا لِأَحَدٍ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ وَتُوُفِّيَ بِالشَّامِ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سِتِّينَ سَنَةًحذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه
«مَاتَ عِيَاضُ بْنُ غَنْمٍ سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the severest punishment for people on the Day of Judgment is the severest punishment for people in the world." Ayyad said to him, "O Hisham, we have indeed heard what you have heard and seen what you have seen, and we have accompanied those whom you have accompanied, Ibn Zariq and others."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا لِلنَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا» فَقَالَ لَهُ عِيَاضٌ يَا هِشَامُ إِنَّا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا الَّذِي قَدْ سَمِعْتُ وَرَأَيْنَا الَّذِي قَدْ رَأَيْتَ وَصَحِبْنَا مَنْ صَحِبْتَابن زريق واه
[Machine] One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "O 'Ayyad, do not marry an old woman or a barren woman, for I need you."
لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ «يَا عِيَاضُ لَا تَزَّوَّجَنَّ عَجُوزًا وَلَا عَاقِرًا فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ»
27.102 [Machine] The Mention of Bara'ah ibn Malik al-Ansari, the Brother of Anas ibn Malik
٢٧۔١٠٢ ذِكْرُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَخِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ
[Machine] Al-Bara' bin Malik bin Al-Nadr bin Dammad bin Zaid bin Haram bin Jundub bin 'Amir bin Ghanm bin 'Adi bin Al-Najjar, and his mother is Umm Sulaim bint Milhan. He is the brother of Anas bin Malik from his father's side. His mother witnessed the battles of Uhud, Al-Khandaq, and all other events with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He had a valorous position in war.
الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ ضَمْضَمِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَرَامِ بْنِ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ وَأُمُّهُ أُمُّ سُلَيْمِ بِنْتِ مِلْحَانَ وَهُوَ أَخُو أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ لِأَبِيهِ وَأُمُّهُ شَهِدَ أُحُدًا وَالْخَنْدَقَ وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ شُجَاعًا لَهُ فِي الْحَرْبِ مَكَانَةٌ
[Machine] He entered upon his brother Al-Bara' while he was lying down, placing one of his legs on top of the other, and he was singing. So he prohibited him and said, "Are you afraid that I will die on my bed while you have distinguished yourself by killing one hundred disbelievers, apart from those who have shared with me in it among the people?"
أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ الْبَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مُسْتَلْقٍ وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى يَتَغَنَّى فَنَهَاهُ فَقَالَ أَتَرْهَبُ أَنْ أَمُوتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِي وَقَدْ تَفَرَّدْتَ بِقَتْلِ مِائَةٍ مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ سِوَى مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِيهِ النَّاسُ؟
[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying that Al-Bara' ibn Malik was a man with a beautiful voice So he used to recite poetry for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during some of his journeys. While he was reciting, he approached the women, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Beware of the tents." He then stopped. Muhammad said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ disliked that the women should hear his voice."
سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ رَجُلًا حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ فَكَانَ يَرْجُزُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَرْجُزُ إِذْ قَارَبَ النِّسَاءَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِيَّاكَ وَالْقَوَارِيرَ» قَالَ فَأَمْسَكَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ «كَرِهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ تَسْمَعَ النِّسَاءُ صَوْتَهُ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "How many weak, oppressed individuals with two cloths would have fulfilled their oath if they had sworn by Allah? From them, Bara' bin Malik is an exception, for Bara' encountered a group of polytheists and they caused great harm to the Muslims." So they said to Bara': "O Bara', the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to you, 'If you had sworn an oath by Allah, I would have fulfilled it. So swear by your Lord.'" Bara' said: "I swear by you, O my Lord, for what you have bestowed upon us through their shoulders." Then they gathered on the bridge of As-Sus and caused harm to the Muslims. They said to him, "O Bara', swear by your Lord." He said: "I swear by you, O my Lord, for what you have bestowed upon us through their shoulders and for connecting me with your Prophet ﷺ ." So they granted them their shoulders and Bara' was martyred.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَمْ مِنْ ضَعِيفٍ مُتَضَعِّفٍ ذِي طِمْرَيْنِ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّ قَسَمَهُ مِنْهُمُ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَإِنَّ الْبَرَاءَ لَقِيَ زَحْفًا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَقَدْ أَوْجَعَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ فِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ» فَقَالُوا يَا بَرَاءُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَقْسَمْتَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّكَ فَأَقْسِمْ عَلَى رَبِّكَ» فَقَالَ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ لِمَا مَنَحْتَنَا أَكْتَافَهُمْ ثُمَّ الْتَقَوْا عَلَى قَنْطَرَةِ السُّوسِ فَأَوْجَعُوا فِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَقَالُوا لَهُ يَا بَرَاءُ أَقْسِمْ عَلَى رَبِّكَ فَقَالَ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ لِمَا مَنَحْتَنَا أَكْتَافَهُمْ وَأَلْحَقْتَنِي بِنَبِيِّكَ ﷺ فَمُنِحُوا أَكْتَافَهُمْ وَقُتِلَ الْبَرَاءُ شَهِيدًا
[Machine] "To his companions, 'How evil is what you have accustomed your peers to do to you!' So, he attacked the enemy, and Allah granted victory to the Muslims, and Al-Bara' was martyred that day. Abu Imran Musa ibn Harun said, 'Indeed, Al-Bara' was martyred on the day of the battle of Tustar, which took place in the twenty-first year of the Hijrah.' Al-Dhahabi did not mention him in his summary."
لِأَصْحَابِهِ بِئْسَ مَا عَوَّدْتُمْ أَقْرَانَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَحَمَلَ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاسْتُشْهِدَ الْبَرَاءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِمْرَانَ مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ «إِنَّ الْبَرَاءَ اسْتُشْهِدَ يَوْمَ تُسْتَرَ وَهِيَ مِنْ فَارِسَ وَإِنَّمَا اسْتُشْهِدَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

٢٧۔١٠٣ ذِكْرُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ؓ وَهُوَ النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ
[Machine] Al-Nu'man ibn Amr ibn Muqarrin ibn 'Amir ibn Bakr ibn Hajin ibn Nasr al-Muzani.
«النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُقَرِّنِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ بَكْرِ بْنِ هَجِينِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ»
[Machine] "Nouman bin Muqarrin Al-Muzani was killed while he was the ruler of the people in the year twenty-one."
«أَنَّ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ مُقَرِّنٍ الْمُزَنِيَّ قُتِلَ وَهُوَ أَمِيرُ النَّاسِ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ»
[Machine] The son of Muqarrin ibn A'idh ibn Mejja ibn Hijjir ibn Nasr ibn Habashiyyah ibn Ka'b ibn 'Abd ibn Thawr ibn Hadmah ibn Latim ibn 'Uthman ibn Muzaynah, also known as Abu 'Amr. He and six of his brothers were present in the Battle of the Trench with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Nu'man was one of the carriers of one of the weapons of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .
ابْنُ مُقَرِّنِ بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ مِيجَا بْنِ هِجِّيرِ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ حَبَشِيَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ بْنِ ثَوْرِ بْنِ هَدْمَةَ بْنِ لَاطِمِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مُزَيْنَةَ وَيُكَنَّى أَبَا عَمْرٍو «وَكَانَ هُوَ وَسِتَّةُ إِخْوَةٍ لَهُ شَهِدُوا الْخَنْدَقَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ النُّعْمَانُ أَحَدَ مَنْ حَمَلَ إِحْدَى أَلْوِيَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ شَاوَرَ الْهُرْمُزَانَ فِي أَصْبَهَانَ وَفَارِسَ وَأَذْرَبِيجَانَ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَصْبَهَانُ الرَّأْسِ وَفَارِسُ وَأَذْرَبِيجَانَ الْجَنَاحَانِ فَإِذَا قَطَعْتَ إِحْدَى الْجَنَاحَيْنِ فَالرَّأْسُ بِالْجَنَاحِ وَإِنْ قَطَعْتَ الرَّأْسَ وَقَعَ الْجَنَاحَانِ فَابْدَأْ بأَصْبَهَانَ فَدَخَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِالنُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ يُصَلِّي فَانْتَظَرَهُ حَتَّى قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنِّي مُسْتَعْمِلُكَ فَقَالَ أَمَّا جَابِيًا فَلَا وَأَمَّا غَازِيًا فَنَعَمْ؟ قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ غَازٍ فَسَرَّحَهُ وَبَعَثَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ أَنْ يَمُدُّوهُ وَيَلْحَقُوا بِهِ وَفِيهِمْ حُذَيْفَةُ بْنُ الْيَمَانِ وَالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ وَالْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو فَأَتَاهُمُ النُّعْمَانُ وَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُمْ نَهَرٌ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهُمُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ رَسُولًا وَمَلِكُهُمْ ذُو الْحَاجِبَيْنِ فَاسْتَشَارَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالَ مَا تَرَوْنَ أَقْعُدُ لَهُمْ فِي هَيْئَةِ الْحَرْبِ أَوْ فِي هَيْئَةِ الْمَلِكِ وَبَهْجَتِهِ؟ فَجَلَسَ فِي هَيْئَةِ الْمَلِكِ وَبَهْجَتِهِ عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ وَوَضَعَ التَّاجَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَحَوْلَهُ سِمَاطَيْنِ عَلَيْهِمْ ثِيَابُ الدِّيبَاجِ وَالْقُرْطِ وَالْأَسْوَرَةِ فَجَاءَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَأَخَذَ بِضَبْعَيْهِ وَبِيَدِهِ الرُّمْحُ وَالتُّرْسُ وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ سِمَاطَيْنِ عَلَى بِسَاطٍ لَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَطْعَنُهُ بِرُمْحِهِ فَخَرَّقَهُ لِكَيْ يَتَطَيَّرُوا فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الْحَاجِبَيْنِ إِنَّكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْعَرَبِ أَصَابَكُمْ جُوعٌ شَدِيدٌ وَجَهْدٌ فَخَرَجْتُمْ فَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ مِرْنَاكُمْ وَرَجَعْتُمْ إِلَى بِلَادِكُمْ فَتَكَلَّمَ الْمُغِيرَةُ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعْشَرَ الْعَرَبِ نَأْكُلُ الْجِيفَةَ وَالْمَيْتَةَ وَكَانَ النَّاسُ يَطَئُونَنَا وَلَا نَطَأُهُمْ فَابْتَعَثَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا رَسُولًا فِي شَرَفٍ مِنَّا أَوْسَطَنَا وَأَصْدَقَنَا حَدِيثًا وَإِنَّهُ قَدْ وَعَدَنَا أَنَّ هَا هُنَا سَتُفْتَحُ عَلَيْنَا وَقَدْ وَجَدْنَا جَمِيعَ مَا وَعَدَنَا حَقًّا وَإِنِّي لَأَرَى هَا هُنَا بَزَّةً وَهَيْئَةً مَا أَرَى مَنْ مَعِي بِذَاهِبِينَ حَتَّى يَأْخُذُوهُ فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ فَقَالَتْ لِي نَفْسِي لَوْ جَمَعْتَ جَرَامِيزَكَ فَوَثَبْتَ وَثْبَةً فَجَلَسْتُ مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ إِذْ وَجَدْتُ غَفَلَةً فَزَجَرُونِي وَجَعَلُوا يَحُثُّونَهُ فَقُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ أَنَا اسْتَحْمَقْتُ فَإِنَّ هَذَا لَا يُفْعَلُ بِالرُّسُلِ وَإِنَّا لَا نَفْعَلُ هَذَا بِرُسُلِكُمْ إِذَا أَتَوْنَا فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتُمْ قَطَعْتُمْ إِلَيْنَا وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ قَطَعْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ فَقُلْتُ بَلْ نَقْطَعُ إِلَيْكُمْ فَقَطَعْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ وَصَافَفْنَاهُمْ فَتَسَلْسَلُوا كُلُّ سَبْعَةٍ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ حَتَّى لَا يَفِرُّوا قَالَ فَرَامُونَا حَتَّى أَسْرَعُوا فِينَا فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ لِلنُّعْمَانِ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ قَدْ أَسْرَعُوا فِينَا فَاحْمِلْ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ ذُو مَنَاقِبٍ وَقَدْ شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَكِنِّي أَنَا «شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا لَمْ يُقَاتِلْ أَوَّلَ النَّهَارِ أَخَّرَ الْقِتَالَ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ وَتَهُبَّ الرِّيَاحُ وَيَنْزِلُ النَّصْرُ» فَقَالَ النُّعْمَانُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اهْتَزَّ ثَلَاثُ هَزَّاتٍ فَأَمَّا الْهَزَّةُ الْأُولَى فَلْيَقْضِ الرَّجُلُ حَاجَتَهُ وَأَمَّا الثَّانِيَةُ فَلْيَنْظُرِ الرَّجُلُ فِي سِلَاحِهِ وَسَيْفِهِ وَأَمَّا الثَّالِثَةُ فَإِنِّي حَامِلٌ فَاحْمِلُوا فَإِنْ قُتِلَ أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَلْوِي أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَإِنْ قُتِلْتُ فَلَا تَلْوُوا عَلَيَّ وَإِنِّي دَاعٍ اللَّهَ بِدَعْوَةٍ فَعَزَمْتُ عَلَى كُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْكُمْ لَمَّا أَمَّنَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ اللَّهُمُ ارْزُقِ الْيَوْمَ النُّعْمَانَ شَهَادَةً تَنْصُرُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَافْتَحْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَأَمَّنَ الْقَوْمُ وَهَزَّ لِوَاءَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ صَرِيعٍ فَذَكَرْتُ وَصِيَّتُهُ فَلَمْ أَلْوِ عَلَيْهِ وَأَعْلَمْتُ مَكَانَهُ فَكُنَّا إِذَا قَتَلْنَا رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ شُغِلَ عَنَّا أَصْحَابُهُ يَجُرُّونَهُ وَوَقَعَ ذُو الْحَاجِبَيْنِ مِنْ بَغْلَتِهِ الشَّهْبَاءِ فَانْشَقَّ بَطْنُهُ وَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَأَتَيْتُ النُّعْمَانَ وَبِهِ رَمَقٌ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِمَاءٍ فَجَعَلْتُ أَصُبُّهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ أَغْسِلُ التُّرَابَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا؟ فَقُلْتُ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلَ النَّاسُ؟ فَقُلْتُ فَتْحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ اكْتُبُوا بِذَلِكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ وَفَاضَتْ نَفْسُهُ فَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَى الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ فَقَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا أُمَّ وَلَدِهِ فَقُلْنَا هَلْ عَهِدَ إِلَيْكَ عَهْدًا؟ قَالَتْ لَا إِلَّا سُفَيْطٌ لَهُ فِيهِ كِتَابٌ فَقَرَأْتُهُ فَإِذَا فِيهِ إِنْ قُتِلَ فُلَانٌ فَفُلَانٌ وَإِنْ قُتِلَ فُلَانٌ فَفُلَانٌ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيُّ أَنَّهُ أَتَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلَ النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ مُقَرِّنٍ؟ فَقَالَ قُتِلَ فَقَالَ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا فَعَلَ فُلَانٌ؟ قُلْتُ قُتِلَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَآخَرِينَ لَا نَعْلَمُهُمْ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُمْ لَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
27.104 [Machine] The mention of his brother Suwaid ibn Muqarrin
٢٧۔١٠٤ ذِكْرُ أَخِيهِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ؓ
[Machine] We were seven people from the Banu Muqarrin tribe during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . We had a servant, and one of us slapped him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Set him free." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
كُنَّا بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَنَا خَادِمٌ فَلَطَمَهُ أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

٢٧۔١٠٥ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ الظَّفَرِيِّ وَهُوَ أَخُو أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ لِأُمِّهِ
[Machine] And Qatada bin Al-Nu'man bin Yazid bin Amr bin Sawwad bin Dhafar, and the name of Dhufur, Ka'ab bin Al-Khazraj bin Amr, and he is the grandson of Malik bin Aws, and Qatada was also known as Abu Amr and he was the grandfather of Aasim and Ya'qub bin 'Umar bin Qatada. And Aasim bin 'Umar was one of the scholars in the field of biography and other matters.
وَقَتَادَةُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَوَّادِ بْنِ ظَفَرٍ وَاسْمُ ظُفُرٍ كَعْبُ بْنُ الْخَزْرَجِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ النَّبِيتُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ وَكَانَ قَتَادَةُ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ جَدُّ عَاصِمٍ وَيَعْقُوبَ ابْنِيْ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ وَكَانَ عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ مِنَ الْعُلَمَاءِ بِالسِّيَرِ وَغَيْرِهَا

٢٧۔١٠٦ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] Because he came from Hadhramaut and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used him on Bahrain, then Umar also used him on Bahrain and died there, so Abu Huraira Al-Dawsi used him in his place. And it was only Al-Ala' bin Al-Hadhrami who died in Bahrain in the year twenty-one.
لِأَنَّهُ أَتَى مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ عُمَرَ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَتُوُفِّيَ بِهَا فَاسْتَعْمَلَ مَكَانَهُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّوْسِيَّ وَإِنَّمَا تُوُفِّيَ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ بِالْبَحْرَيْنِ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ»
27.107 [Machine] The Mention of Al-Aswad ibn Khalaf ibn Abd Yagooth.
٢٧۔١٠٧ ذِكْرُ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ خَلَفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَغُوثَ ؓ
[Machine] He saw the Prophet ﷺ giving allegiance to the people on the day of victory. He said that he sat near the house of Samurah. Al-Aswad said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ sitting, and the young and old people and women came to him and pledged allegiance to Islam and bearing witness to the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad. So, I asked, 'What is Islam?' He said, 'To believe in Allah.' And I asked, 'What is the testimony?' He said, 'The testimony that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' At this point, Al-Dhahabi remained silent in his summary."
أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ قَالَ فَجَلَسَ عِنْدَ قُرْبِ دَارِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ الْأَسْوَدُ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَسَ فَجَاءَهُ النَّاسُ الصِّغَارُ وَالْكُبَّارُ وَالنِّسَاءُ فَبَايَعُوهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَقُلْتُ فَمَا الْإِسْلَامُ؟ قَالَ «الْإِيمَانُ بِاللَّهِ» فَقُلْتُ وَمَا الشَّهَادَةُ؟ قَالَ «شَهَادَةُ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ took Hussain and kissed him. Then, he approached them (the people) and said, 'Verily, this child is a source of stinginess, cowardice, ignorance, and sadness.'"
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَخَذَ حُسَيْنًا فَقَبَّلَهُ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْوَلَدَ مَبْخَلَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ مَجْهَلَةٌ مَحْزَنَةٌ»
[Machine] "Mohammed, the son of Al-Aswad, the son of Khalaf, the son of Abd Yaghoth Al-Qurashi, his ancestry traces back to the people of Makkah."

27.108 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Khalid ibn al-Waleed
٢٧۔١٠٨ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ ؓ
[Machine] Khalid ibn Al-Walid died in the year twenty-one in Homs.
«أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ مَاتَ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ بِحِمْصَ»
[Machine] Khalid bin Al-Walid bin Al-Mughira bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum and his mother Lubbaba bint Al-Harith bin Hazn Al-Hilaliyah, the sister of Maymuna bint Al-Harith, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . Khalid was given the nickname Abu Sulaiman. Umar bin Al-Khattab appointed him to oversee the affairs of the cities of Rouha, Hurran, and Ar-Rabba. Khalid stayed there for a year and then he sought permission to resign from his position, which Umar granted. Khalid then went to Al-Madinah and settled there in his own house until he passed away in Al-Madinah in the twentieth-two year.
خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ وَأُمُّهُ لُبَابَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَزْنٍ الْهِلَالِيَّةُ أُخْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكَانَ خَالِدٌ يُكَنَّى أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى الرُّهَا وَحُرَّانَ وَالرَّبَّةَ وآمَدَ فَمَكَثَ سَنَةً وَاسْتَعْفَى فَأَعْفَاهُ فَقَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَقَامَ بِهَا فِي مَنْزِلِهِ حَتَّى مَاتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ
[Machine] I heard Yahya ibn Bukayr saying, "Khalid ibn al-Walid is also known as Abu Suleiman."
سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ بُكَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ يُكَنَّى أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ»
[Machine] "To shed tears, to the extent of leaving a stain or two, without sobbing or shrieking." Al-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.
أَنْ يُهْرِقْنَ مِنْ دُمُوعِهِنَّ سَجْلًا أَوْ سَجْلَيْنِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ لَقْعٌ وَلَا لَقْلَقَةٌ» يَعْنِي بِاللَّقْعِ اللَّطْمُ وبِالْلَقْلَقَةِ الصُّرَاخُ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "When the Prophet ﷺ finished with the armies, Khalid ibn al-Walid stayed in the camp of the armies and sent a message to the Prophet ﷺ regarding his conversion to Islam." The mentioned event has been narrated to us with authenticity by Zubaydi about the conversion of Khalid ibn al-Walid before the Battle of Khaybar.
«لَمَّا انْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ أَقَامَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بِدَارِ الْأَحْزَابِ وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِإِسْلَامِهِ» حَدَّثَنَا بِصِحَّةِ مَا ذَكَرَهُ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ مِنْ إِسْلَامِ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ قَبْلَ خَيْبَرَ
[Machine] "We were with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Khaybar. He sent me to announce that the congregational prayer is obligatory, and that no one enters Paradise except a Muslim soul." (Al-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary)
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ فَبَعَثَنِي أُنَادِي الصَّلَاةُ جَامِعَةٌ لَا تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا نَفْسٌ مَسْلَمَةٌ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[Machine] "I went intentionally to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I met Khalid ibn Al-Walid before the conquest of Mecca. He was coming from Mecca. So I said, 'Where are you going, O Abu Sulaiman?' He said, 'By Allah, the one who is called Al-Meessam has been guided, and indeed the man is a Prophet. I intend to go and accept Islam. How long will it go on like this?' He said, 'We arrived in Medina before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Khalid ibn Al-Walid arrived before us and accepted Islam and gave his pledge (to the Prophet). Then I approached and gave my pledge and left.'"
خَرَجْتُ عَامِدًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلَقِيتُ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ وَذَلِكَ قُبَيْلَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ مُقْبِلٌ مِنْ مَكَّةَ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ يَا أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ؟ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدِ اسْتَقَامَ الْمِيسَمُ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لِنَبِيٌّ أَذْهَبُ فَأُسْلِمُ فَحَتَّى مَتَى قَالَ «فَقَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَتَقَدَّمَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَأَسْلَمَ وَبَايَعَ ثُمَّ دَنَوْتُ فَبَايَعْتُ وَانْصَرَفْتُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "And he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioning Khalid ibn Al-Walid and he said, 'Yes, Abdullah is a brother of the family and a sword from the swords of Allah.' Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."
وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَذَكَرَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَأَخُو الْعَشِيرَةِ وَسَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "When the Prophet, peace be upon him, announced the news of the people of Mu'ta, he said, 'Then Khalid ibn Al-Walid took the flag, a sword from the swords of Allah, and Allah granted him victory.'"
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَمَّا نَعَى أَهْلَ مُؤْتَةَ قَالَ «ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mourned the people of Muta from the pulpit and then said, "Then Khalid ibn Al-Walid took the command, and he is a sword from the swords of Allah."
نَعَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَهْلَ مُؤْتَةَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فَأَخَذَ اللِّوَاءَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ وَهُوَ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not harm Khālid, for he is a sword from the swords of Allah, who pours upon the disbelievers."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تُؤْذُوا خَالِدًا فَإِنَّهُ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ صَبَّهُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ»

[Machine] " They asked for it but did not find it, and then they asked for it and found it, and behold, it was a wrinkle-free garment. Khalid said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Umrah and shaved his head, and people started grabbing his hair from the sides. I got ahead of them all and placed it in this garment. And whenever I carried it in battle, I would always achieve victory.'"
اطْلُبُوهَا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوهَا ثُمَّ طَلَبُوهَا فَوَجَدُوهَا وَإِذَا هِيَ قَلَنْسُوَةٌ خَلِقَةٌ فَقَالَ خَالِدٌ «اعْتَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ وَابْتَدَرَ النَّاسُ جَوَانِبَ شَعْرِهِ فَسَبَقْتُهُمْ إِلَى نَاصِيَتِهِ فَجَعَلْتُهَا فِي هَذِهِ الْقَلَنْسُوَةِ فَلَمْ أَشْهَدْ قِتَالًا وَهِيَ مَعِي إِلَّا رُزِقْتُ النَّصْرَ؟» منقطع

[Machine] Khalid ibn al-Walid passed away in the city in the year twenty-two.
«تُوُفِّيَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ»
[Machine] Yahya bin Bukair died in the city in the year seventeen or eighteen.
