27. Book of the Companions
[Machine] I heard Yahya ibn Ma'een say, "The two garments of the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ are Abu Abdullah."
[Machine] "Two garments belonged to the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Its origin was from Yemen. It was taken as booty, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gifted it to him. He became known as Abu Abdullah. He died in Hims in the year fifty-four."
[Machine] "And from what reached us regarding the news of Hims, and from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and from the allies of Quraysh, Thawban ibn Budjdud, who was also known as Abu Abdullah, was a man from the Alhân tribe. He was captured as a prisoner, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set him free and said to him: 'Oh Thawban, if you wish to join those whom you were with, then you are one of them. And if you wish to remain with us, the household of the Messenger of Allah, upon the allegiance to the Messenger of Allah.' Thawban responded: 'Rather, I will remain on the allegiance to the Messenger of Allah.' He then passed away in Hims during the reign of Abdullah ibn Qurt."
[Machine] To me, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you take an oath to commit a sin, leave it and throw the remnants of ignorance under your feet. Beware of drinking alcohol, for Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, has not sanctified its drinker." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, supplication repels destiny, and indeed, righteousness increases in provision. Indeed, a person may be deprived of provision due to sin that befalls him." Ibn Qarin is a liar.
[Machine] "Thawban, the slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated: I was standing in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a Jew passed by us and said, 'Peace be upon you, O Muhammad.' I pushed him away forcefully, almost causing harm to him. He asked, 'Why did you push me?' I replied, 'Don't you say 'O Messenger of Allah?' The Jew said, 'Indeed, we call him by the name his family gave him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, my name that my family gave me is Muhammad.' The Jew said, 'I came to ask you,' and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, 'How can I benefit you if I speak to you?' The Jew replied, 'I will listen with my ears.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ picked up a stick and said, 'Ask.' The Jew asked, 'Where will people be on the day when the earth and heavens are changed except for the earth and the heavens?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'They will be in darkness before the resurrection.' The Jew asked, 'Who will be the first to be granted permission?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'The poor emigrants.' The Jew asked, 'What will be their appearance when they enter Paradise?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'It will be an increase in the livers like that of the fish (the Prophet Yunus).' The Jew asked, 'What will be their sustenance in the shadow (of Paradise)?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'The slaughtered animals from Paradise, which they used to eat from its edges.' The Jew asked, 'What will be their drink?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'A river called Salsabil.' The Jew said, 'You have spoken the truth.'" Similar narration can be found in Bukhari and Muslim.
