٢٧۔ كِتَابُ مَعْرِفَةِ الصَّحَابَةِ ؓ
[Machine] Um Nubayh, the daughter of Al-Hajjaj, the mother of Abdullah ibn Amr, was a woman who used to present gifts to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and show kindness to him. One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited her and asked, "How are you, O Um Abdullah?" She replied, "I am well, by my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah." He then asked, "And how is Abdullah?" She replied, "He is well, by his father and mother. Abdullah is a man who has renounced worldly pleasures. He has forbidden sleep, so he does not sleep. He has forbidden meat, so he does not eat it, and he does not fulfill the rights of his family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Where is he?" She said, "He left quickly, and he is about to return, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When he comes back to you, detain him with me." Abdullah did not delay in returning, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Verily, you have rights upon yourself, and your family also has rights upon you."
