عَنِ الْوَاقِدِيِّ  

[Machine] Then, Salama ibn Hisham escaped after that and caught up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Madinah, and this was after the Battle of the Trench. His mother, Duba'ah bintu 'Amir ibn Qarazh ibn Salama ibn Qushair ibn Ka'ab ibn 'Amir ibn Rabee'ah [Al-Bahr Ar-Rajz], said, "They are the lords of the sanctified Kaaba, he shows his hand to every enemy, his hand that provides punishment for ambiguous matters and his hand that bestows favors." He continued to be with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he went out with the Muslims to the Levant when Abu Bakr sent the armies for the jihad against the Romans. Salama was then martyred in Marj As-Suffar in the month of Muharram in the fourteenth year of the caliphate of 'Umar.  

ثُمَّ إِنَّ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ أَفْلَتَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَحِقَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّهُ ضُبَاعَةُ بِنْتُ عَامِرِ بْنِ قَرَظِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ قُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ [البحر الرجز] لَا هُمَّ رَبَّ الْكَعْبَةِ الْمُحَرَّمَةِ أَظْهِرْ عَلَى كُلِّ عَدُوٍّ سَلَمَهْ لَهُ يَدَانِ فِي الْأُمُورِ الْمُبْهَمَةِ كَفٌّ بِهَا يُعْطِي وَكَفٌّ مُنْعِمَهْ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الشَّامِ حِينَ بَعَثَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجُيُوشَ لِجِهَادِ الرُّومِ فَقُتِلَ سَلَمَةُ شَهِيدًا بِمَرْجِ الصُّفَّرِ فِي الْمُحَرَّمِ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ ؓ
