27. Book of the Companions
٢٧۔ كِتَابُ مَعْرِفَةِ الصَّحَابَةِ ؓ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to present horses, and with him was Uyaynah bin Badr Al-Fazari. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "I know more about horses than you." Uyaynah replied, "And I know more about men than you." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Who are the best of men?" Uyaynah said, "Men who carry their swords on their shoulders and their spears on the manes of their horses, from the men of Najd." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, you are wrong. The best of men are the men of Yemen, and faith is Yemeni, until it reaches Al-Lakhm, and scabs, and infectious diseases, and the meat of donkeys is better than their meat, and Hadramaut is better than Bani Harith. By Allah, I do not care if both Hariths perish. May Allah curse the four kings: Jamdah, Makhwass, A'bidah, and their sister Amardah." Then he said, "My Lord commanded me to curse the Quraysh twice, so I cursed them twice. And my Lord commanded me to pray for them, so I prayed for them twice." Then he said, "May Allah curse Tameem bin Murrah five times, and Bakr bin Wail seven times, and may Allah curse two tribes of the tribes of Bani Tameem, Muqa'is and Muladis." Then he said, "Ussayyah, who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, are the slaves of Qays, Ja'dah, and Asim." Then he said, "Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, and Ahlaf from Juhaynah are better than Bani Asad, Tameem, Ghatafan, and Hawazin on the Day of Resurrection." Then he said, "The worst two tribes among the Arabs are Najran and Banu Taghlib, and the majority of tribes in Paradise are Mudhij."

The tribes of Ansar, Muzaina and Juhaina and Ghifar and Ashja' and those from Banu 'Abdullah, they are my friends amongst the people and Allah and His Messenger are their protectors. (Using translation from Muslim 2519)
To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon. Verily it is not I that say this, but (it is) Allah the Exalted and Glorious. (who) says this. (Using translation from Muslim 2516)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to stand in prayer and supplicate against some tribes of the Arabs, saying, 'May Allah curse Ri'lān and Dhakwān and the 'Usayyah tribe who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, and Beni Lahyan.' And he would say, 'Ghifār was forgiven by Allah and He granted Sa'lamah safety. I did not say this, but rather Allah Almighty said it.' Then he would say the takbīr after supplicating against those whom he cursed." (Note: This translation might not be precise as the original text is not clear and there is a reference to a missing portion from Al-Dhahabi's work).
