hakim:5449Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Aṣbahānī > al-Ḥasan b. al-Jahm > al-Ḥusayn b. al-Faraj > Muḥammad b. ʿUmar

[Machine] About Islam, when he saw that he had left his house, he opposed him. So he entered his house and urged his wife, as she was combing her hair, and he said, "Where is Abu Darda?" She said, "Your brother left suddenly and entered his house where the idol was, and with him was the qudm. He brought it down and began consecrating it repeatedly, secretly reciting names of all the devils, knowing that everything worshipped beside Allah is false. Then he left, and I heard his wife hear the sound of the qudm while he was striking that idol. She said, "You have ruined me, O son of Rawaha!" So he went out without anything until Abu Darda returned to his house. He entered and found the woman sitting, shedding tears of pity for him. He said, "What is your matter?" She said, "Your brother Abdullah bin Rawaha came to me and did what you see, so you became extremely angry." He then thought to himself, "If he had any good in him, he would have defended himself." So he set out until he reached the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and Abdullah bin Rawaha was with him. He embraced Islam, and it is said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, looked at Abu Darda, and the people were defeated, each face on the day of Uhud. He said, "What a great knight Umayr is," except that he meant through other than what is transmitted. Ibn Umar said, "I heard someone mention that Abu Darda did not witness Uhud, although he was one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and he witnessed many scenes with him." Ibn Umar said, "Abu Darda died in Damascus in the year thirty-two during the caliphate of Uthman bin Affan."

[Machine] He is called Abu Ishaq al-Ajrab, a servant of the Banu Habbar branch of the Quraysh tribe. He said, "I saw Abu Al-Darda Uwaymir ibn Qays ibn Khunasa, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with dyed reddish-yellow hair. I saw him wearing a small patched garment and he had a folded turban on his shoulders." Al-Abbas said, "I heard a man who was with me say to him, 'How long have you known him?' He replied, 'I have known him for over 100 years.' He said, 'He used to wear two socks and sandals.' He said, 'He came to Abu Ishaq about twenty to one hundred years ago.'"
