hakim:5210Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Aṣbahānī > al-Ḥasan b. al-Jahm > al-Ḥusayn b. al-Faraj > Muḥammad b. ʿUmar > al-Ḥārith b. Hishām b. al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar b. Makhzūm Faḥaddathanī Salīṭ b. Muslim > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿIkrimah

[Machine] She said, "What are you doing to me in front of people, announcing our relationship before both of them?" He said, "Are you renting me to the polytheists?" So he left and she said, "O mother of Hanin, I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have never seen anything from my son that I could barely escape from him. I hired him for protection against the polytheists, and he started to chase them to kill them.' The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, 'That was not for him. I have already granted rewards to those who deserve them and granted safety to those who deserve it.' So I went back to them and informed them, and they went back to their homes. It was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, that Al-Harith bin Hisham and Abdullah bin Abi Rabee'ah were sitting among their friends, whispering in the midst of a dark gathering. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, 'There is no way to them. We have granted them safety.' Al-Harith bin Hisham said, 'I felt shy for the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, to see me and to mention my vision in every place among the polytheists. Then I mentioned his kindness and mercy, so I met him while he was entering the mosque. He greeted me with glad tidings and waited until I approached him to greet him and bear witness to the truth. He said, 'Praise be to Allah who guided you. There was no one like you who was ignorant of Islam.'" Al-Harith said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like Islam being unknown."

[Machine] "O people, I did not come out of my own desire from among you, nor did I choose one place over another for myself. Rather, this matter had already been decided and certain men from the Quraysh were chosen by Allah to carry out this task. Those men were not from the tooth or homes of Mecca. By Allah, if the mountains of Mecca were made of gold and we spent it all in the way of Allah, we would not have reached one day of their days. And I swear by Allah, if they were to miss out on worldly gains, we would seek to match them in the Hereafter. So fear Allah, for a man who goes out as a warrior has gone out (for the sake of Allah)." And he went out as a warrior toward Sham (Syria) and was martyred. The narration ends here.

[Machine] "He fought alongside them and escaped with his head intact. Tamra and Lujam were the reins of his horse. Al-Harith ibn Hisham apologized for running away that day. Allah knows what I left behind in their fight until they threw my horse down to the ground. It was covered in foam and I realized that if I tried to fight one, I would be killed and my enemy would not be harmed by my attack. So, I turned away from them and my loved ones among them desired punishment for them on the day of the ambush. Then, I joined a battle with the polytheists, but I continued to hold onto polytheism until I embraced Islam on the day of the conquest of Mecca. Aisha narrated this story about Al-Harith."

[Machine] He asked the Prophet ﷺ , "How does inspiration come to you?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "It comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and it breaks off from me, and I remember what is said. Sometimes the angel comes to me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I remember what he says." I do not know of anyone who narrated this hadeeth from Aisha except Al-Harith Ibn Salim. This hadeeth has been narrated by the companions of Hishaam from his father, from Aisha, regarding Al-Harith Ibn Hishaam asking about this hadeeth.
