[Machine] Amr bin Abasa bin Amer bin Khalid bin Ghadirah bin Attab bin Amr bin Imru al-Qais. His mother is Ramlah bint al-Waqi'ah from the Bani Hizam tribe. He is the brother of Abu Dhar al-Ghifari through his mother. He is also known as Abu Yahya.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer facing a camel which had been taken in booty, and when he had given the salutation, he took a hair from the camel's side and said: I have no right as much as this of your booty, but only to the fifth. and the fifth is returned to you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2755)
[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was still an ordinary person. I asked him, 'Who are you?' He replied, 'I am a prophet.' I asked, 'What is a prophet?' He replied, 'I am the Messenger of Allah.' I asked him, 'Did Allah send you?' He replied, 'Yes.' I asked, 'Why did Allah send you?' He replied, 'To worship Allah alone, break the idols, and maintain family ties.' I said, 'Indeed, Allah has sent you. So who follows you in this?' He replied, 'A free man and a slave,' meaning Abu Bakr and Bilal. Then 'Amr ibn Abasa said, 'I saw myself as one-fourth of Islam, so I embraced Islam.' I then asked the Prophet, 'Can I follow you, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'No, but go back to your people. When I make my appearance, come to me.'"
