[Machine] "Abu Jandal bin Suhail bin Amr embraced Islam in Mecca a long time ago, but his father, Suhail bin Amr, imprisoned him and kept him chained. He prohibited him from migrating. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ established the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, Suhail bin Amr came to him and the Messenger of Allah agreed to what Suhail desired. Abu Jandal, who was still in chains, approached the Messenger of Allah in protest. The Messenger of Allah returned him to his father due to the agreement between them.

However, Abu Jandal managed to escape later on and caught up with Abu Basir, who was in Al-'Ays with a group of Muslims. Whenever a trade caravan from Quraysh passed by them, they would intercept it and kill those whom they were able to overpower, taking their belongings. Abu Jandal remained with Abu Basir until the death of Abu Basir. Abu Jandal then went ahead and joined the Muslims who were in Madinah under the leadership of the Messenger of Allah. He continued to participate in battles and fought in the path of Allah after the death of the Messenger of Allah until he died due to a plague called Amawas in the 18th year of the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab."
