27. Book of the Companions
[Machine] Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, hired the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for two trips to Jarash, each trip for a fee of Qalush.
[Machine] "The first woman that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married was Khadijah bint Khuwaylid bin Asad bin Abd al-Uzza. He married her in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, and her father, Khuwaylid bin Asad, performed the marriage."
[Machine] "Khadijah passed away before the migration in a year."
[Machine] "Abu Talib and Khadijah bint Khuwaylid died in the same year, three years before the Prophet ﷺ migrated to Medina. Khadijah was buried in Hujun, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed in her grave. She was married to him for twenty-eight years." Muhammad said, "The kunyah of Khadijah is Umm Hind, and she had a son and a daughter when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her. The mother of Khadijah is Fatimah bint Zaydah bin Al-Asamm, and her mother is Hala bint 'Abd Manaf."
[Machine] "Khadijah bint Khuwaylid passed away at the age of sixty-five. This statement is incorrect, because I believe she did not reach the age of sixty."
[Machine] Khadijah, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, gave birth to two boys and four girls: Al-Qasim, Abdullah, Fatimah, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, and Umm Kulthum.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Praise be to Allah who has given me bread (food) and dressed me in silk and married me to Khadijah, whom I love."
[Machine] On Monday, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, and Khadijah prayed with him. It was mentioned that he offered Ali to pray on Tuesday, so he accepted Islam and said, "Let me decide, or should I command Abu Talib to pray?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "It is an Amanah (trust)."
Ali then said, "In that case, I will pray," and he prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on Tuesday.
[Machine] "He is a prophet, and no one obeyed him in his command except for this woman and this boy. This woman is Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, his wife, and this boy is Ali ibn Abi Talib, his cousin. Afeef al-Kindi said, 'He became a Muslim, and his Islam was excellent. I wish I had become a Muslim on that day so that I would have a quarter of his Islam.'"
[Machine] Narrated Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , said that the first thing that Allah's Messenger ﷺ started receiving from Allah was true dreams during his sleep. And he would not see any dream but it would come true like bright daylight. Then solitude was made dear to him and he used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many nights before coming back to his wife Khadija. She informed him of her conviction of his Prophethood and supported him through her wealth and efforts. Then Allah's Messenger ﷺ returned with that experience of true inspiration, his heart was beating violently, and then he went to Khadija and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him until his fear was over and then he told Khadija everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! But have the glad tidings, for by Allah, Allah shall never disgrace you as you keep good relations with your kith and kin, speak the truth, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously, and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones." Then Khadija went along with him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza bin Qusai. Waraqa was the son of her paternal uncle, i.e., her father's brother, who during the Pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to him, "O my cousin! Listen to the story of your nephew." Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" The Prophet ﷺ described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same Namus (i.e., Gabriel, the Angel who keeps the secrets of Allah) whom Allah had sent to Moses ﷺ . I wish I were young and could live till the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Messenger ﷺ asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days of Waraqa's death, Allah's Messenger ﷺ received the Divine Inspiration and the Verse of Al-Qur'an, 2.286 (Surat Al-Baqarah) was revealed to him.

[Machine] "Khadijah was the first woman to believe in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." It was omitted by Al-Dhahabi from the summary due to its weakness.
[Machine] "Khadijah was the first person to believe in Allah and believe in His Messenger ﷺ, before prayer was obligatory." This statement was deleted by Al-Dhahabi from the summary [of narrators] due to its weakness.
[Machine] I came to Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman while he was in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I heard him saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, 'Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was the foremost among the women of the world in embracing faith in Allah and in me ﷺ.'" Adh-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “The best women (of her time) was Maryam bint ‘Imran, and the best woman (of her time) is Khadeejah.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 640)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have been commanded to give glad tidings to Khadijah of a house in Paradise made of reeds, without any noise or fatigue." This is based on the condition set by Muslim.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been commanded to give glad tidings to Khadijah of a house in Jannah (Paradise) made of reeds, with no noise or tiredness in it."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'I have been commanded to bring good news to Khadijah of a house in Paradise made of reeds.' Abu Abdul Rahman said, 'I said to my father, indeed Yahya ibn Ma'in criticizes Aamir ibn Salih.' He said, 'What does he say?' I said, 'He claims that he heard from Hajjaj.' He said, 'I have observed that Hajjaj hears from unreliable sources, and this is a flaw for a person to hear from someone who is younger or older than him according to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim.'"
Gabriel came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! This is Khadija coming to you with a dish having meat soup (or some food or drink). When she reaches you, greet her on behalf of her Lord (i.e. Allah) and on my behalf, and give her the glad tidings of having a Qasab palace in Paradise wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue (trouble) . " (Using translation from Bukhārī 3820)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew four lines on the ground and said, "Do you know what this is?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most virtuous women of the people of Paradise are Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Fatimah bint Muhammad, and Maryam bint Imran." And I believe he said, "And the wife of Pharaoh."
[Machine] "I found in my father's book, written in his own handwriting, that Saad bin Ibrahim bin Saad and Ya'qub bin Ibrahim said that my father narrated to me from Salih who narrated from Ibn Shihab who narrated from Urwah who said: Aisha said to Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , 'Shall I not give you good news? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: The noblest ladies of the people of Paradise are four: Maryam, the daughter of Imran; Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah; Khadijah, the daughter of Khuwaylid; and Asiyah, wife of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), on the condition mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim.'"
"I did not envy any woman as I envied Khadijah - and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not marry me except after she had died - that was because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her glad tidings of a house in Paradise made of Qasab, without clamoring nor discomforts in it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3876)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ did not marry anyone else while Khadijah was alive." Aisha said, "I have never seen anyone more jealous of his wives than me over Khadijah, because of how often he would mention her."
[Machine] Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, while Khadijah was with him. He said, "Indeed, Allah sends His greetings to Khadijah." She replied, "Indeed, Allah Himself is the source of peace, and upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah."
