"Al-Hakam, son of Amr, son of Mujadda, son of Hithym, son of Al-Harith, son of Nuaiala, son of Mulayk, son of Damarah, son of Bakr, son of Abd Manata, son of Kinana."

«الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُجَدَّعِ بْنِ حِذْيَمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نُعَيْلَةَ بْنِ مُلَيْكِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ»  

hakim:5865Aḥmad b. Yaʿqūb > Mūsá b. Zakariyyā > Khalīfah b. Khayyāṭ

[Machine] Al-Hakam bin Amr bin Mujadda bin Hithaym bin Hulwan bin Al-Harith bin Nu'ayla bin Mulayk bin Damarah, and his mother is Umamah bint Malik bin Al-Ashhal bin Abdullah bin Ghifarin. He died in Khorasan while he was the ruler there in the year 51.

«الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُجَدَّعِ بْنِ حِذْيَمِ بْنِ حُلْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نُعَيْلَةَ بْنِ مُلَيْكِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ وَأُمُّهُ أُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْأَشْهَلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غِفَارٍ مَاتَ بِخُرَاسَانَ وَهُوَ وَالٍ عَلَيْهَا سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَخَمْسِينَ»

[Machine] "And Al-Hakam bin Amr bin Mujadda bin Hizyam bin Al-Harith bin Nuayla bin Mulayk bin Dhamrah bin Bakr bin Abd Manat bin Kinana, and Nuayla, the brother of Ghifar bin Mulayk, was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ until he passed away. Then he moved to Basra and settled there. Ziyad bin Abi Sufyan appointed him as a governor of Khorasan until he died there in the year fifty."

«وَالْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُجَدَّعِ بْنِ حِذْيَمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نُعَيْلَةَ بْنِ مُلَيْكِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ وَنُعَيْلَةُ أَخُو غِفَارِ بْنِ مُلَيْكٍ صَحِبَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ حَتَّى قُبِضَ ثُمَّ تَحَوَّلَ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فَنَزَلَهَا فَوَلَّاهُ زِيَادُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَلَى خُرَاسَانَ حَتَّى مَاتَ بِهَا سَنَةَ خَمْسِينَ»

[Machine] I was with Hakam ibn Amr al-Ghifari when Ali ibn Abi Talib's messenger came to him. Ali ibn Abi Talib said to him, "Indeed, the commander of the faithful says to you that you are the most deserving of those who have assisted us in this matter." Hakam ibn Amr al-Ghifari replied, "I heard my intimate friend, your cousin, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When the situation is like this or similar to this, take a sword made of wood.'" Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his summary.  

الحاكم:٥٨٦٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ التَّاجِرُ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ السَّهْمِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي حَاجِبٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيِّ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَسُولُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَقُولُ لَكَ إِنَّكَ أَحَقُّ مَنْ أَعَانَنَا عَلَى هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ خَلِيلِي ابْنَ عَمِّكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا كَانَ الْأَمْرُ هَكَذَا أَوْ مِثْلَ هَذَا أَنِ اتَّخِذْ سَيْفًا مِنْ خَشَبٍ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[Machine] I heard Ahmad ibn Shayban saying, "Al-Hakam ibn 'Amr, Rifa'a ibn 'Amr, and 'Ali ibn 'Amr accompanied the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . Then Ziyad succeeded as the ruler of Khorasan, and the reason for his death was that he cursed himself while he was sick. He had a book read to him, and Ziyad and Muawiya responded to it. His prayer was answered, and he died while he was sick. Before him, Buraydah al-Aslami died, and we all buried them in the graveyard of Huseyn in Marw, opposite Abu Hamza al-Sukkari's bathhouse. I have visited their graves." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.

سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ شَيْبَانَ يَقُولُ «الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَرَافِعُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَعُلَيَّهُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو صَحِبُوا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ثُمَّ إِنَّ زِيَادًا وَلِيَ الْحُكْمَ عَلَى خُرَاسَانَ وَكَانَ سَبَبُ وَفَاتِهِ أَنَّهُ دَعَا عَلَى نَفْسِهِ وَهُوَ بِمَرْوَ فِي كِتَابٍ قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ وَرَدَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ زِيَادٍ وَآخَرَ مِنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَاسْتُجِيبَتْ دَعْوَتُهُ وَمَاتَ بِمَرْوَ وَكَانَ مَاتَ قَبْلَهُ بُرَيْدَةُ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ فَدُفِنَا جَمِيعًا فِي مَقْبَرَةِ حُصَيْنٍ بِمَرْوَ مُقَابِلَ حَمَّامِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ السُّكَّرِيِّ قَدْ زُرْتُ قَبْرَيْهِمَا» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[Machine] "That white and yellow be chosen for him, and not to divide gold and silver among the Muslims." The ruler wrote to him, "After you have written a mention of the book of the Commander of the Faithful, and indeed I found the book of Allah before the book of the Commander of the Faithful. And I swear by Allah, if the heavens and the earth were sewn together for a servant, and he feared Allah, He would make a way out for him from among them. And peace." The ruler ordered a caller to call out, so he called out that they should come forward to receive their shares. And when Mu'awiyah saw what the ruler had done in dividing the spoils, he turned to the one who had imprisoned and restricted him and said, "Indeed, I am a disputant." The gold was not mentioned in the summary by Al-Dhahabi.  

الحاكم:٥٨٦٩فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ بَالَوَيْهِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ ثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيِّ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ بَعَثَ زِيَادٌ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيَّ عَلَى خُرَاسَانَ فَأَصَابُوا غَنَائِمَ كَثِيرَةً فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَمَا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَتَبَ

أَنْ يَصْطَفِيَ لَهُ الْبَيْضَاءَ وَالصَّفْرَاءَ وَلَا تَقْسِمُ بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ذَهَبًا وَلَا فِضَّةً فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ الْحَكَمُ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّكَ كَتَبْتَ تَذْكُرُ كِتَابَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِنِّي وَجَدْتُ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ قَبْلَ كِتَابِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِنِّي أُقْسِمُ بِاللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ رَتْقًا عَلَى عَبْدٍ فَاتَّقَى اللَّهَ لَجَعَلَ لَهُ مِنْ بَيْنَهُمْ مَخْرَجًا وَالسَّلَامُ» أَمَرَ الْحَكَمُ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَى فَيْئِكُمْ فَقَسَمَهُ بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ لَمَّا فَعَلَ الْحَكَمُ فِي قِسْمَةِ الْفَيْءِ مَا فَعَلَ وَجَّهَ إِلَيْهِ مَنْ قَيَّدَهُ وَحَبَسَهُ فَمَاتَ فِي قُيُودِهِ وَدُفِنَ فِيهَا وَقَالَ «إِنِّي مُخَاصِمٌ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[Machine] "Do you not know why I came to you? Do you not remember that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ received the command from his commander to stand and then fall into the fire, the man was about to fall into it but he managed to grab hold of him? Then the Prophet ﷺ said, 'If he had fallen into it, he would have entered the Hellfire. There is no obedience in the disobedience of Allah.' Al-Hakam said, 'Yes.' 'Imran said, 'I only wanted to remind you of this hadith.'"  

الحاكم:٥٨٧٠حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ أَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ وَيُونُسٌ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الشَّهِيدِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ زِيَادًا اسْتَعْمَلَ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيَّ عَلَى جَيْشٍ فَلَقِيَهُ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فِي دَارِ الْإِمَارَةِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ

لَهُ أَتَدْرِي فِيمَ جِئْتُكَ؟ أَمَا تَذْكُرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَلَغَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ أَمِيرُهُ قُمْ فَقَعْ فِي النَّارِ فَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ لَيَقَعَ فِيهَا فَأَدْرَكَهُ فَأَمْسَكَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ وَقَعَ فِيهَا لَدَخَلَ النَّارَ لَا طَاعَةَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ» قَالَ الْحَكَمُ بَلَى قَالَ عِمْرَانُ إِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُذَكِّرَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح

[Machine] There was a man from the people, why do you say this? And you have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "None of you should wish for death due to a hardship that has befallen him." He said, "I have heard what you have heard, but I rush to sell wisdom, abundant conditions, leadership of young boys, shedding of blood, severing family ties, and a growing trend that will occur at the end of time, where they take the Quran as songs." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this summary.  

الحاكم:٥٨٧١أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ ثَنَا جَمِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّائِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُعَلَّى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ قَالَ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيُّ يَا طَاعُونُ خُذْنِي إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ

لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ لِمَ تَقُولُ هَذَا؟ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ» ؟ قَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ مَا سَمِعْتُمْ وَلَكِنِّي أُبَادِرُ سِتًّا بَيْعَ الْحَكَمِ وَكَثْرَةَ الشَّرْطِ وَإِمَارَةَ الصِّبْيَانِ وَسَفْكَ الدِّمَاءِ وَقَطِيعَةَ الرَّحِمِ وَنَشْوًا يَكُونُونَ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْقُرْآنَ مَزَامِيرَسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
