Some goods came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Bahrain. The Prophet ﷺ ordered the people to spread them in the mosque --it was the biggest amount of goods Messenger of Allah ﷺ had ever received. He left for prayer and did not even look at it. After finishing the prayer, he sat by those goods and gave from those to everybody he saw. Al-ʿAbbas came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! give me (something) too, because I gave ransom for myself and ʿAqil". Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him to take. So he stuffed his garment with it and tried to carry it away but he failed to do so. He said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Order someone to help me in lifting it." The Prophet ﷺ refused. He then said to the Prophet: Will you please help me to lift it?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused. Then Al-ʿAbbas threw some of it and tried to lift it (but failed). He again said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ Order someone to help me to lift it." He refused. Al-ʿAbbas then said to the Prophet: "Will you please help me to lift it?" He again refused. Then Al-ʿAbbas threw some of it, and lifted it on his shoulders and went away. Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept on watching him till he disappeared from his sight and was astonished at his greediness. Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not get up till the last coin was distributed.

Abu Barza said, "The Prophet ﷺ used to offer the Fajr (prayer) when one could recognize the person sitting by him (after the prayer) and he used to recite between 60 to 100 Ayat (verses) of the Qur'an. He used to offer the Zuhr prayer as soon as the sun declined (at noon) and the ʿAsr at a time when a man might go and return from the farthest place in Medina and find the sun still hot. (The sub-narrator forgot what was said about the Maghrib). He did not mind delaying the ʿIsha prayer to one third of the night or the middle of the night."

My father and I went to Abu Barza-al-Aslami to ask him about the stated times for the prayers. He replied, "The Prophet ﷺ used to offer the Zuhr prayer when the sun just declined from its highest position at noon; the ʿAsr at a time when if a man went to the farthest place in Medina (after praying) he would find the sun still hot (bright). (The sub narrator said: I have forgotten what Abu Barza said about the Maghrib prayer). The Prophet ﷺ never found any harm in delaying the ʿIsha' prayer to the first third of the night and he never liked to sleep before it and to talk after it. He used to offer the morning prayer at a time when after finishing it one could recognize the person sitting beside him and used to recite between 60 to 100 verses in one or both the rakʿat."

Cover me! Story of the second encounter with Jibrīl in his full form

bukhari:4Ibn Shihāb > Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī

as he was narrating about the period of Wahī (Revelation): "While I was walking, ˹suddenly˺ I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same Angel who had visited me at the cave of Ḥirāʾ sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him, came back ˹home˺ and said, 'Cover me!' Then Allah ﷻ revealed: 'O you who covers himself [with a garment]' Arise and warn.' until His statement 'And idolatory, avoid.' (Muddaththir 74:1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."

It was corroborated by ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf and Abū Ṣāliḥ, and was corroborated by Hilāl b. Raddād from Zuhrī and Yūnus and Maʿmar said portions of it.

bayhaqi:13335Ibn Shihāb > Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ says, "Then the revelation was interrupted for some time. While I was walking, I heard a voice from the sky, so I looked up towards the sky and saw the angel who used to come to me sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I was terrified and fell to the ground. Then I went to my family and said, 'Cover me! Cover me!' So they covered me, and Allah the Almighty revealed the verse, 'O you who is enveloped, arise and warn, and your Lord glorify, and your garments purify, and the idols forsake' (Quran, Al-Muddathir 2). Abu Salamah said, 'Idols are referred to as "arrajz",' meaning false gods. Then the revelation continued."
