"Your oath is as your companion understands it to be." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2121)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمِينُكَ عَلَى مَا يُصَدِّقُكَ بِهِ صَاحِبُكَ
"Your oath is as your companion understands it to be." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2121)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمِينُكَ عَلَى مَا يُصَدِّقُكَ بِهِ صَاحِبُكَ
The Messenger of Allah said: "The injuries caused by the well are without liability, [1] and beasts are without liability, and mines are without liability, and the Khumus is due on Rikaz." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2498)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْبِئْرُ جُبَارٌ وَالْمَعْدِنُ جُبَارٌ وَالْعَجْمَاءُ جُبَارٌ وَفِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمُسُ
[Machine] Umaynah ibn Hisan entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and saw him kissing Hasan or Husayn. So she said to him, "Do you kiss him, O Messenger of Allah? I have ten children and I have never kissed any one of them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy."
دَخَلَ عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ حِصْنٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَآهُ يُقَبِّلُ حَسَنًا أَوْ حُسَيْنًا فَقَالَ لَهُ تُقَبِّلْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ لَقَدْ وُلِدَ لِي عَشْرَةٌ مَا قَبَّلْتُ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ لَا يُرْحَمُ
"Abu Al-Qasim the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Woe to the heels from the Fire.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 110)
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنَ النَّارِ
The best age of my Umma is one in which I was sent (by Allah as an Apostle), then the one next to that. (The narrator said): And Allah knows best whether he stated this third (time) or not. Then there would come people who would love (to look) bulky and they would hasten to the witness box before they are asked to bear witness. (Using translation from Muslim 2534a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ أَقَالَ الثَّالِثَةَ أَمْ لَا ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ يُحِبُّونَ السَّمَانَةَ يَشْهَدُونَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْتَشْهَدُوا
“Whoever finds his exact property with a man who has become bankrupt, and then he has more right to it than anyone else.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2358)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ وَجَدَ عَيْنَ مَالِهِ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ قَدْ أَفْلَسَ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ مِمَّنْ سِوَاهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the animal is mortgaged, then its feed is the responsibility of the person who took the mortgage, and the milk of the sheep is drunk, and the expenses of the one who drinks it and rides it are also covered."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَتِ الدَّابَّةُ مَرْهُونَةً فَعَلَى الْمُرْتَهِنِ عَلَفُهَا وَلَبَنُ الدَّرِّ يُشْرَبُ وَعَلَى الَّذِي يَشْرَبُهُ نَفَقَتُهُ وَيَرْكَبُ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When they differ on the path, a distance of seven arms' length is raised between them."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا اخْتَلَفُوا فِي الطَّرِيقِ رُفِعَ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ سَبْعَةُ أَذْرُعٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Amr ibn Qays, the owner of the banner of the poets, will go to the Fire."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ صَاحِبُ لِوَاءِ الشُّعَرَاءِ إِلَى النَّارِ
[Machine] "We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the expedition of Hind (India). If I am martyred, then I will be among the best martyrs. And if I return, then I am Abu Hurayrah Al-Muharrar."
وَعَدَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غَزْوَةَ الْهِنْدِفَإِنِ اسْتُشْهِدْتُ كُنْتُ مِنْ خَيْرِ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَإِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَأَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ الْمُحَرَّرُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The obligatory prayer is an expiation for what is between it and the next prayer. And the Friday prayer is an expiation for what is between it and the next Friday prayer. And the month (of fasting) is an expiation for what is between it and the next Ramadan." He said, "Then he said after that, except for three (situations)." He said, "So I knew that this was a matter that has occurred except for associating partners with Allah, breaking a contract, and abandoning the Sunnah." He said, "As for breaking a contract, it is when you pledge allegiance to a man and then you violate it and fight against him with your sword. And as for abandoning the Sunnah, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we are familiar with associating partners with Allah, but what is breaking a contract?' He said, 'It is when you pledge allegiance to a man and then you violate it and fight against him with your sword. And as for abandoning the Sunnah, it is leaving the congregation.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصَّلَاةُ الْمَكْتُوبَةُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا بَيْنَهُمَا قَالَ وَالْجُمُعَةُ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ وَالشَّهْرُ إِلَى الشَّهْرِ يَعْنِي رَمَضَانَ إِلَى رَمَضَانَ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا بَيْنَهُمَا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ قَالَ فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ لِأَمْرٍ حَدَثَ إِلَّا مِنَ الْإِشْرَاكِ بِاللهِ وَنَكْثِ الصَّفْقَةِ وَتَرْكِ السُّنَّةِ قَالَ أَمَّا نَكْثُ الصَّفْقَةِ أَنْ تُبَايِعَ رَجُلًا ثُمَّ تُخَالِفَ إِلَيْهِ تُقَاتِلُهُ بِسَيْفِكَ وَأَمَّا تَرْكُ السُّنَّةِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمَّا الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ فَقَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ فَمَا نَكْثُ الصَّفْقَةِ؟ قَالَ فَأَنْ تُبَايِعَ رَجُلًا ثُمَّ تُخَالِفَ إِلَيْهِ تُقَاتِلَهُ بِسَيْفِكَ وَأَمَّا تَرْكُ السُّنَّةِ فَالْخُرُوجُ مِنَ الْجَمَاعَةِ
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "The intensity of heat is from the breath of Hell, so cool it down with prayer."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ شِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ فَأَبْرِدُوا بِالصَّلَاةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The virgin is proposed to, and the non-virgin is consulted." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the virgin feels shy." He said, "Her silence is her acceptance."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ وَالثَّيِّبُ تُشَاوَرُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحِي قَالَ سُكُوتُهَا رِضَاهَا
that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Trim the mustache and leave the beard to grow." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2763)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قُصُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, my father said: "He forbade a woman to marry her maternal aunt or paternal aunt."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ كَذَا قَالَ أَبِي أَنَّهُنَهَى أَنْ تُنْكَحَ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا أَوْ عَلَى خَالَتِهَا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The days of Tashreeq (i.e., the three days following Eid al-Adha) are days of eating and remembering Allah." He also said: "The days of Tashreeq are days of eating and drinking."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَّامُ التَّشْرِيقِ أَيَّامُ طُعْمٍ وَذِكْرِ اللهِ قَالَ مَرَّةً أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ
[Machine] If I had not heard it from him, meaning Al-Zuhri, then Sufyan bin Husayn narrated to me, from Al-Zuhri, from Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib, from Abu Huraira, who said that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "There is no 'Atirah' in Islam, nor 'Far'a'."
إِنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ يَعْنِي الزُّهْرِيَّ فَحَدَّثَنِي سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا عَتِيرَةَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَا فَرَعَ
“Whoever performs Hajj to this House, and does not have sexual relations nor commit any disobedience, will go back like the day his mother bore him.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2889)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ حَجَّ فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ رَجَعَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were allowed, he would have preferred to have a hundred sons, all of whom would fight in the cause of Allah."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوِ اسْتَثْنَى لَوُلِدَ لَهُ مِائَةُ غُلَامٍ كُلُّهُمْ يُقَاتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ
[Machine] I whisper (mention) them (the following) every night before sleeping: fasting three days every month, washing on Fridays, and continuing until my death on odd days.
هُشَيْمٌ فَلَا أَدَعُهُنَّ حَتَّى أَمُوتَ بِالْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَالْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Fitrah are five: Trimming the mustache, plucking the armpit hairs, clipping the nails, removing the pubes, and circumcision.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 10)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَمْسٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبْطِ وَالِاسْتِحْدَادُ وَالْخِتَانُ
I offered the night prayer behind Abu Hurairah. He recited Surah Inshiqaq ("When the sky is rent asunder") and prostrated himself. I asked him: What is this prostration ? He replied: I prostrated myself on account of this (surah) behind Abu al-Qasim (i.e. the Prophet). I shall continue prostrating on account of this till I meet him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1408)
صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ صَلَاةَ الْعَتَمَةِ أَوْ قَالَ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ فَقَرَأَ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ سَجَدْتُ فِيهَا خَلْفَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ فَلَا أَزَالُ أَسْجُدُهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَاهُ
when a fly alights in anyone’s vessel, he should plunge it all in, for in one of its wings there is a disease, and in the other is a cure. It prevents the wing of it is which there is a cure, so plunge it all in (the vessel). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3844)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا وَقَعَ الذُّبَابُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَإِنَّ فِي أَحَدِ جَنَاحَيْهِ دَاءً وَفِي الْآخَرِ شِفَاءً وَإِنَّهُ يَتَّقِي بِجَنَاحِهِ الَّذِي فِيهِ الدَّاءُ فَلْيَغْمِسْهُ كُلَّهُ
The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you comes to an assembly, he should give a salutation and if he feels inclined to get up, he should give a salutation, for the former is not more of a duty than the latter. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5208)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا انْتَهَى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْمَجْلِسِ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقُومَ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ فَلَيْسَ الْأُولَى بِأَحَقَّ مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ
A son does not repay what he owes to his father unless he buys him and emancipates him if he finds him in slavery. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5137)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَجْزِي وَلَدٌ وَالِدَهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَجِدَهُ مَمْلُوكًا فَيَشْتَرِيَهُ فَيُعْتِقَهُ
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "Indeed, the Imam is meant to be followed, so when he says 'Allahu Akbar,' then all of you say 'Allahu Akbar.' And when he bows, then all of you bow. And when he says 'Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah,' then say 'Rabbana lakal hamd.' And when he prays sitting, then all of you pray sitting, all together."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا أَجْمَعِينَ
"Whoever takes the responsibility of judge, or is appointed as judge between the people, then he has been slaughtered without a knife." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1325)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ جُعِلَ قَاضِيًا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَقَدْ ذُبِحَ بِغَيْرِ سِكِّينٍ
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "Do you know what backbiting is?" They responded, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "It is mentioning your brother with something he dislikes."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الْغِيَابَةُ؟ قَالُوا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا لَيْسَ فِيهِ
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet ﷺ offered the funeral prayer for Najashi and said four Takbir. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1538)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ فَكَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it the gates of heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2106)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَمَضَانُ شَهْرٌ مُبَارَكٌ افْتَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ صِيَامَهُ تُفْتَحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَتُغْلَقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَحِيمِ وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ مَنْ حُرِمَ خَيْرَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ
A person addressed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him: Can any one of us say prayer in one garment? He said: Do all of you possess two garments? (Using translation from Muslim 515c)
نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَيُصَلِّي أَحَدُنَا فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ؟ قَالَ أَوَكُلُّكُمْ يَجِدُ ثَوْبَيْنِ؟
Aslam, Ghifar or some people from Muzaina, Juhaina (with the variation of words) are better in the eye of Allah than Asad, Ghatfan, Hawizin and Tamim. The narrator said: I think he also said:" On the Day of Resurrection." (Using translation from Muslim 2521c)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَأَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارٌوَشَيْءٌ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ وَجُهَيْنَةَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ وَمُزَيْنَةَ خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ اللهِ قَالَ أَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ أَسَدٍ وَغَطَفَانَ وَهَوَازِنَ وَتَمِيمٍ
There is a time on Friday at which no Muslim would stand and pray and beg Allah for what Is good but He would give it to him; and he pointed with his hand that (this time) is short and narrow. (Using translation from Muslim 852b)
أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ إِنَّ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ لَسَاعَةً لَا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي يَسْأَلُ اللهَ خَيْرًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ اللهُ إِيَّاهُ وقَالَ بِيَدِهِ قُلْنَا يُقَلِّلُهَا يُزَهِّدُهَا
The (members) of the first group to get into Paradise would have their faces as bright as full moon during the night, and the next to this group would have their faces as bright as the shining stars in the sky, and every person would have two wives and the marrow of their shanks would glimmer beneath the flesh and there would be none without a wife in Paradise. (Using translation from Muslim 2834a)
إِمَّا تَفَاخَرُوا وَإِمَّا تَذَاكَرُوا الرِّجَالُ أَكْثَرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَمِ النِّسَاءُ؟ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَوَ لَمْ يَقُلْ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا عَلَى أَضْوَإِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ فِي السَّمَاءِ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ زَوْجَتَانِ ثِنْتَانِ يُرَى مُخُّ سَاقِهِمَا مِنْ وَرَاءِ اللَّحْمِ وَمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَعْزَبُ
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade drinking (directly) from the mouth of a water skin.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3421)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يُشْرَبَ مِنْ فِي السِّقَاءِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man should not prevent his neighbor from fixing a plank or a piece of wood in his wall."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ رَجُلٌ جَارَهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ خَشَبَتَهُ أَوْ قَالَ خَشَبَةً فِي جِدَارِهِ
"The best of charity is that which is given when you are self-sufficient, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those for whom you are responsible." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2534)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا صَدَقَةَ إِلَّا عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ
Messenger of Allah, lo. Khadija is coming to you with a vessel of seasoned food or drink. When she comes to you, offer her greetings from her Lord, the Exalted and Glorious, and on my behalf and give her glad tidings of a palace of jewels in Paradise wherein there is no noise and no toil. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira through another chain of transmitters with a slight variation of wording. (Using translation from Muslim 2432)
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذِهِ خَدِيجَةُ قَدْ أَتَتْكَ بِإِنَاءٍ مَعَهَا فِيهِ إِدَامٌ أَوْ طَعَامٌ أَوْ شَرَابٌ فَإِذَا هِيَ أَتَتْكَ فَاقْرَأْ عَلَيْهَا السَّلَامَ مِنْ رَبِّهَا وَمِنِّي وَبَشِّرْهَا بِبَيْتٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مِنْ قَصَبٍ لَا صَخَبَ فِيهِ وَلَا نَصَبَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Allah has appointed me as a guardian for those who go out in His path, and they do not go out except for jihad in my cause, and belief in me and affirming my message. They are guaranteed by me that they will enter paradise or be returned to the dwelling from which they departed, receiving whatever reward or spoils they have obtained. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is no word spoken in the cause of Allah, except that it will come on the Day of Judgment in the form it was spoken. Its color will be like blood and its scent will be like musk."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ انْتَدَبَ اللهُ ﷻ لِمَنْ خَرَجَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِي وَإِيمَانًا بِي وَتَصْدِيق رَسُولِي فَهُوَ عَلَيَّ ضَامِنٌ أَنْ أُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ أَوْ أُرْجِعَهُ إِلَى مَسْكَنِهِ الَّذِي خَرَجَ مِنْهُ نَائِلًا مَا نَالَ مِنْ أَجْرٍ أَوْ غَنِيمَةٍ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ مَا مِنْ كَلْمٍ يُكْلَمُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ إِلَّا جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ كُلِمَ لَوْنُهُ لَوْنُ دَمٍ وَرِيحُهُ رِيحُ
O Allah, grant pardon to those who got their heads shaved. They (Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Messenger of Allah, (what about those) who get their hair cut? He said: O Allah, grant pardon to those who get their heads shaved. They said: Messenger of Allah, (what about those) who got their hair clipped? He said: O Allah, grant pardon to those who get their heads shaved. They said: Messenger of Allah, (what about those) who get their hair clipped? He said: (O Allah, grant pardon to) those who get their hair clipped. (Using translation from Muslim 1302a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Which charity is the most superior in reward?" He replied, "The charity which you practice while you are healthy, niggardly and afraid of poverty and wish to become wealthy. Do not delay it to the time of approaching death and then say, 'Give so much to such and such, and so much to such and such.' And it has already belonged to such and such (as it is too late)." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1419)
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا؟ قَالَ أَمَا وَأَبِيكَ لَتُنَبَّأَنَّهُ أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَخْشَى الْفَقْرَ وَتَأْمُلُ الْبَقَاءَ وَلَا تَمَهَّلْ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ قُلْتَ لِفُلَانٍ كَذَا وَلِفُلَانٍ كَذَا وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفُلَانٍ
[Machine] Jibril sat with the Prophet ﷺ and looked up at the sky. Suddenly, an angel descended. Jibril said, "Indeed, this angel has not descended since the day he was created, before the Hour. When the angel descended, he said, 'O Muhammad, your Lord has sent me to you. So, am I to be a king or a Prophet?' Jibril said, 'Be humble to your Lord, O Muhammad.' The Prophet replied, 'Rather, I am but a servant of Allah and His Messenger.'"
جَلَسَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا مَلَكٌ يَنْزِلُ فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَلَكَ مَا نَزَلَ مُنْذُ يَوْمِ خُلِقَ قَبْلَ السَّاعَةِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قَالَ يَامُحَمَّدُ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ أَفَمَلِكًا نَبِيًّا يَجْعَلُكَ أَوْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا؟ قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ تَوَاضَعْ لِرَبِّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَالَ بَلْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا
The last hour will not come before rising of the sun in its place of setting. When it rises (there) and the people see it, those who are on it (the earth) will believe. This is the time of which the Qur’anic verse says: “. . .no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then, if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4312)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا فَإِذَا طَلَعَتْ وَرَآهَا النَّاسُ آمَنَ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَذَلِكَ حِينَ {لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا} [الأنعام 158]
Abstain from Saum-Wisal. They (his Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, but you observe Saum Wisal. Upon this he said: You are not like me in this matter, for I spend my night (in a state) that my Lord feeds me and provides me drink Devote yourselves to the deeds (the burden of which) you can bear. (Using translation from Muslim 1103b)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِثْلِي إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever begs from people so as to accumulate more riches, he is asking for alive coal from hell, so let him ask for a lot or a little.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1838)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ سَأَلَ النَّاسَأَمْوَالَهُمْ تَكَثُّرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَسْأَلُ جَمْرًا فَلْيَسْتَقِلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ لِيَسْتَكْثِرْ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept silence between the takbir and the recitation of Qur’an. So I asked him, for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom: What do you say during you period of silence between the takbir and the recitation? He replied (that he said): O Allah, purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from filth. O Allah, wash away my sings with snow, water and hail. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 781)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كَبَّرَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ سَكَتَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي أَرَأَيْتَ سُكَاتَكَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ أَخْبِرْنِي مَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ أَقُولُ اللهُمَّ بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ اللهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ كَالثَّوْبِ الْأَبْيَضِ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ كَمَايُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ اللهُمَّ اغْسِلْنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ بِالثَّلْجِ وَالْمَاءِ وَالْبَرَدِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ أَبِي كُلُّهَا عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ إِلَّا هَذَا عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ
“The first group to enter Paradise will enter with (faces) like the moon in the night when it is full. Then those who follow them will be shining with a light brighter than the brightest star in the sky. They will not urinate or defecate, or blow their noses or spit. Their combs will be of gold, their sweat will be musk, their braziers (receptacle for holding live coals for burning incense) will be pearls and their wives will be houris. Their form will be that of a single man, the form of their father Adam, sixty forearm’s length tall.’” Another chain reports the same. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4333)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَشَدِّ ضَوْءِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ فِي السَّمَاءِ إِضَاءَةً لَا يَبُولُونَ وَلَا يَتَغَوَّطُونَ وَلَا يَتْفُلُونَ وَلَا يَمْتَخِطُونَ أَمْشَاطُهُمُ الذَّهَبُ وَرَشْحُهُمُ الْمِسْكُ وَمَجَامِرُهُمُ الْأَلُوَّةُ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمُ الْحُورُ الْعِينُأَخْلَاقُهُمْ عَلَى خَلْقِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى صُورَةِ أَبِيهِمْ آدَمَ فِي طُولِ سِتِّينَ ذِرَاعًا
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, Allah says: "Who is more unjust than one who asserts partners with Allah, while he himself creates nothing, and they are created?", "Let them create a grain, or let them create a small seed, or let them create a single hair!" Then he called for ablution and performed ablution, and washed his arms up to the elbows, and when he washed his feet, he went beyond the ankles. So I said, "What is this?" He said, "This is the limit of adornment."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذَهَبَ يَخْلُقُ خَلْقًا كَخَلْقِي فَلْيَخْلُقُوا ذَرَّةً أَوْ فَلْيَخْلُقُوا حَبَّةً أَوْ لِيَخْلُقُوا شَعِيرَةً ثُمَّ دَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ حَتَّى جَاوَزَ الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ فَلَمَّا غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ جَاوَزَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ إِلَى السَّاقَيْنِ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ هَذَا مَبْلَغُ الْحِلْيَةِ
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Two words which are light on the tongue and heavy in the Balance, and beloved to the Most Merciful: Subhan-Allah wa bi hamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-'Azim (Glory and praise is to Allah, glory is to Allah the Almighty)." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3806)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَتَانِ خَفِيفَتَانِ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ ثَقِيلَتَانِ فِي الْمِيزَانِ حَبِيبَتَانِ إِلَى الرَّحْمَنِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيمِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sees me in a dream has indeed seen me, for Satan cannot imitate me." Ibn Fudayl once said, "Someone may imagine me, but the true and righteous dream of a believer is a part of the seventy parts of Prophethood."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ رَآنِي فِيالْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَتَمَثَّلُ بِي وَقَالَ ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ مَرَّةً يَتَخَيَّلُ بِي وَإِنَّ رُؤْيَا الْعَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ الصَّادِقَةَ الصَّالِحَةَ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ
