ahmad:7160 – Muḥammad b. Fuḍayl > ʿUmārah > Abū Zurʿah > And Lā Aʿlamuh Illā > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] Jibril sat with the Prophet ﷺ and looked up at the sky. Suddenly, an angel descended. Jibril said, "Indeed, this angel has not descended since the day he was created, before the Hour. When the angel descended, he said, 'O Muhammad, your Lord has sent me to you. So, am I to be a king or a Prophet?' Jibril said, 'Be humble to your Lord, O Muhammad.' The Prophet replied, 'Rather, I am but a servant of Allah and His Messenger.'"  

أحمد:٧١٦٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ قَالَ وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَلَسَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا مَلَكٌ يَنْزِلُ فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَلَكَ مَا نَزَلَ مُنْذُ يَوْمِ خُلِقَ قَبْلَ السَّاعَةِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قَالَ يَامُحَمَّدُ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ أَفَمَلِكًا نَبِيًّا يَجْعَلُكَ أَوْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا؟ قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ تَوَاضَعْ لِرَبِّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَالَ بَلْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا

ابن حبّان:٦٣٦٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَلَسَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا مَلَكٌ يَنْزِلُ فَقَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ هَذَا الْمَلَكُ مَا نَزَلَ مُنْذُ خُلِقَ قَبْلَ السَّاعَةِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ أَمَلَكًا جَعَلَكَ لَهُمْ أَمْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ تَوَاضَعْ لِرَبِّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَالَ ﷺ «لَا بَلْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا»
