27. Book of the Companions (47/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken ill and I was with him in a group of Muslims, Bilal was called for prayer. He said, 'Choose someone to lead the people in prayer.' So I went out and found Umar among the people, and Abu Bakr was absent. I said to Umar, 'Stand up and lead the people in prayer.' He stood up and when he said the takbeer (the opening phrase of prayer), the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard his voice. Umar was a loud speaker. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Where is Abu Bakr? May Allah not blame him or the Muslims for that.' He sent for Abu Bakr and after Umar had finished that prayer, Abu Bakr led the people in prayer. Abdullah ibn Zam'a said, 'Umar said to me, "What did you do to me, O Ibn Zam'a? By Allah, when you told me to lead the people in prayer, I did not think that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had commanded it. If it were not for that, I would not have led the people in prayer." I said, 'By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not command me. But when I did not see Abu Bakr, I thought that you were the most entitled to lead the people in prayer.'"

27.338 [Machine] The Mention of Abi Umamah Al-Bahili
[Machine] The translation of "شَبَّابُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ وَمَاتَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ سَنَةَ سِتٍّ وَثَمَانِينَ" into English is:
"Shabab, son of Khayyat, and Abu Ummamah passed away in the year sixty-eight."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah sent me to my people to invite them to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and to present to them the principles of Islam. So I went to them while they were watering their camels and milking them, and drinking the milk. When they saw me, they greeted me and said, 'Welcome, O Suddi bin Ajlan!' Then they said, 'We have heard that you have become a follower of this man (referring to the Prophet Muhammad). I replied, 'No, but I have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and the Messenger of Allah has sent me to you to present Islam and its principles.' While we were in this discussion, they brought a vessel filled with blood, and they gathered around it to eat it. They said, 'Come, O Suddi!' I said, 'Woe to you! I have come to you from the one who forbids you from consuming this, as Allah has revealed to him.' They asked, 'What is that?' I said, 'Allah has revealed this verse to him: 'Forbidden to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine...' (Quran 5:3) until 'except what you slaughter.' (Quran 5:3) I then invited them to Islam, but they refused. I said to them, 'Woe to you! Can you bring me some water to drink? I am extremely thirsty.' They replied, 'No, we will let you die of thirst.' So, I wrapped my head in my turban and fell asleep under the intense heat. Then, someone came to me in a dream with a glass cup that no one has ever seen anything better than, and it contained a drink that no one has ever tasted anything more delicious than. I was able to drink from it, and after I finished drinking, I woke up. By Allah, I did not feel thirsty or experience thirst after that sip.' I heard them saying, 'A man from our people has come to you, but you did not honor him with a taste. So, bring me a taste of what they would have given me.' I said, 'I have no need for it. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, has fed and provided me. I showed them my stomach, and then they all embraced Islam one after another.' This is the narration of Suddi bin Hirmuz, who Ibn Ma'in deemed as weak."

[Machine] Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah ibn Mu'awiyah ibn Qushayr ibn Ka'ab ibn Rabiah ibn 'Amir, his lineage traces back to Abdullah ibn Al-Jarud.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, who is the most righteous?" He said, "Your mother." And he mentioned the Hadith that we did not write down except from the narration of Ibn 'Awn from Bahz, except from him.
27.340 [Machine] The mention of Malik ibn Haidah, the brother of Muawiya.
[Machine] "He said to his brother Malik ibn Haidah, 'Come with us to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , for he knows you but does not know me. He has imprisoned some people from my neighbors, so we went to him. Malik ibn Haidah said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have embraced Islam and my neighbors have embraced Islam. Leave them alone.' But he did not respond. Then he repeated his request, but he did not respond again. So he got angry and said, 'If you do that, they claim that you call to one thing and do something else.' So I scolded and reprimanded him. He asked, 'What did he say?' They said, 'He said such and such.' He then said, 'If I do that, then it is upon me and not upon them. Leave his neighbors alone.' Al-Dhahabi did not comment on this in his summary."

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I will be absent from water for months, and my family will be with me, will I be affected by them?" He said, "Yes, even if you are absent for twenty years." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married twelve Arab women who were chaste. This was followed by Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, and Al-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married twelve women. Qatadah ibn Di'amah and other scholars disagreed with him on this matter. As for Qatadah's opinion on this, Ad-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.

Abu Ubayda Ma'mar Ibn Al-Muthanna disagreed with them, and his saying, may Allah have mercy on him, is closer to the truth. Al-Dhahabi did not mention it in the summary.

[Machine] Urwa wrote to Al-Walid ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Aisha after the death of Khadijah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw Aisha in a dream three times, and it was said to him, 'This is your wife Aisha.' Aisha was six years old on the day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her and he consummated the marriage with her. He then brought her to Medina when she was nine years old. It is criticised for the reliability of its chain of narrators.

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ was asked, 'Who is the most beloved person to you?' He replied, 'Aisha.' It was then said, 'We do not mean from your family members.' He said, 'Then Abu Bakr.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sent me on an expedition with Abu Bakr and Umar. When I returned, I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who do you love the most?" He asked, "What do you want to know that for?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I just want to know." He said, "Aisha." I said, "I meant among the men?" He said, "Her father." Al-Dhahabi did not mention this incident in his summary.

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, who among your wives will be with you in Paradise?" He replied, "As for you, you will be among them." She said, "It crossed my mind that you did not marry a virgin other than me." The authenticity of the chain of narration is correct and it has not been rejected.
[Machine] Aisha said, "I saw myself on a hill and there were cows being slaughtered around me." So I said to her, "If your vision is true, then you will be in the midst of a battle." She replied, "I seek refuge in Allah from your evil words! How terrible what you have said!" So I said to her, "Perhaps if this happens, it will benefit you." She said, "By Allah, having Ali descend from the sky is more beloved to me than that." After some time, it was mentioned to her that Ali had killed Thumadah. So she said to me, "When you arrive in Kufa, write down the names of those who witnessed that incident from those you know in the city." When I arrived, I found that people were divided into different factions, so I wrote down ten names from each faction who witnessed the incident. He said, "So I went to her with their testimonies." She said, "May Allah curse 'Amr ibn Al-'As, for he claimed that he killed him in Egypt."

[Machine] Muawiyah said to Ziyad, "Who is the most knowledgeable among the people?" He replied, "You, O Amir al-Mu'minin." Muawiyah then asked him, "Who do you support?" Ziyad replied, "As for when you decide to support me, it is Aisha." Al-Dhahabi omitted this from the summary.

[Machine] "Aisha was the most knowledgeable and understanding among the people and had the best opinions in general." The author, Al-Dhahabi, did not comment further in the summary.
27.344 [Machine] The mention of Umm Al-Mu'minin Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab.
[Machine] Hafsah bint Umar ibn al-Khattab ibn Nufayl ibn Abdul Aziz ibn Rabah ibn Abdullah ibn Qurṭ ibn Razah ibn Adi ibn Ka'b ibn Luay ibn Ghalib, and her mother was Zainab bint Mazh'un ibn Habib ibn Wahb ibn Hudhafah ibn Jumah, and she was among the Emigrants.
[Machine] Afterwards, the Prophet ﷺ married Hafsah, the daughter of Umar ibn Al-Khattab, and she was previously married to Khunays ibn Hudhafah As-Sahmi.
[Machine] "Do you have any interest in marrying Hafsah?" So he turned away from me and did not come to me at all. Then Umar, the Prophet ﷺ's companion, came to him and complained to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Would it be better for me to marry Hafsah and marry Uthman to Umm Kulthum?" So the Prophet ﷺ married Hafsah and Uthman married Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.
