27. Book of the Companions (46/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
[Machine] "From Urwah, in naming those who witnessed the Battle of Badr, Abu Burdah ibn Niyar."
[Machine] I met my uncle Abu Burdah and he had a flag with him, so I asked him where he was going. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to a man who married his father's wife after him, to strike his neck and take his wealth." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.
27.323 [Machine] The Mention of 'Uwaym ibn Sa'idah.
[Machine] It is said that he is an ally of the Bani Amr ibn Awf, and it is also said that he is one of their own.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, chose me and chose companions for me, and He made from among them ministers, helpers, and in-laws. Whoever insults them, the curse of Allah, the angels, and all of mankind is upon him. His deeds will not be accepted on the Day of Judgment, neither his charity nor his justice."

[Machine] Abu Lubabah Bashir ibn Abdul-Mundhir and Harith ibn Hattab "went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and went with him to the Battle of Badr. He sent Abu Lubabah back to Madinah and shot two arrows for them along with the companions of Badr."
[Machine] When Allah accepted the repentance of Abu Lubabah, Abu Lubabah said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have abandoned my people's land where I committed a sin, and I have pledged to give all my wealth as charity for the sake of Allah, the Almighty, and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Lubabah, a third of your wealth will suffice." Abu Lubabah then donated a third of his wealth. (Note: The statement by Al-Dhahabi was not included in the given text.)

[Machine] "There is no harm in what the man threw in the talisman of stones," said Abdullah bin Amr bin Uthman. I mentioned that to Abdullah bin Umar, and he said, "Abu Hubbah (the man) spoke the truth, and Abu Hubbah was from the Badriyyin (those who participated in the Battle of Badr)." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summarization.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I ascended until I reached a level where I heard the scratching of the pens."

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrating to the star. People prostrated with him. Al-Muttalib said, ‘I did not prostrate with them that day, and I was still a polytheist at that time.’ Al-Muttalib then said, ‘So I will never refrain from prostrating to it.’ Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."

They will not give anything to anyone without taking from their religion like it.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent on this citation, and Al-Dhahabi said in Al-Mizan, 'Al-Hakim asked him about Malik's fabricated traditions.'"

[Machine] "That the name of the son of Umm Maktoom is Amr bin Qais."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, circled around during his pilgrimage on his young she-camel, while Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum held onto its reins.
[Machine] "Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, his mother is Umm Maktum and her name is Atikah bint Abdullah ibn Ankathah ibn Amr ibn Makhzum. And he is Amr ibn Qais ibn Zaidah ibn Al-Asamm ibn Harim ibn Rawahah ibn Abd Ma'is ibn Amr ibn Lu'ayy. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'If you have come to me with these two names altogether, then I have come to him.'"
[Machine] "The first of those who migrated and joined us was Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr, and after him, 'Amr ibn Umm Maktum, the blind one, came to us."
Honorning Umm Maktūm on whose behalf Allah admonished his Prophet ﷺ
I entered upon ʿĀʾishah and there was a blind man with her and she was cutting up utruj (a ctirus fruit) for him and he was eating it with honey. She then said, "This ˹honor for Umm Maktūm˺ has remained since on whose behalf Allah ﷻ admonished his Prophet ﷺ " The Mother of the Believers then desired to ˹mention the reason for˺ revelation of Sūrat ʿAbasa wa-Tawallá.
I entered upon ʿĀʾishah and there was a blind man with her and she was cutting up utruj (a ctirus fruit) and serving it to him with honey. Then I asked her, "Who is this man, O Mother of the Believers?" She then said, "This is Umm Maktūm, the one on whose behalf Allah ﷻ admonished his Prophet ﷺ " She said ˹that once˺, "Umm Maktūm came to the Prophet ﷺ and with him were ʿUtbah and Shaybah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced them ˹despite Umm Maktūm.˺ Then ˹the āyāt˺ were revealed: "He frowned and turned away; When the blind man came to him." (ʿAbasa 80:1-2) ˹who was˺ Umm Maktūm.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went out one morning and said, "The Fire has been kindled for the people of the Fire, and trials have come like patches of dark night. If you only knew what I know, you would laugh a little and weep a lot."
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am an elderly blind man with a spacious house, and I do not have anyone to guide me. Between me and the mosque, there are trees and rivers. Do I have an excuse to pray in my house?" He asked, "Do you hear the Adhan (call to prayer)?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Then respond to it."

"My father took me for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah during the Farewell Hajj, and I was seven years old." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 925)
[Machine] "And in it, died Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, meaning in the year one hundred and ninety-one."
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bringing out Abdullah ibn Khatal from among the curtains of the Kaaba and he killed him patiently. Then he said, 'No one from the Quraysh should be killed after this except with patience.'"
27.333 [Machine] Mention of Abu Hashim ibn Utbah
[Machine] "Abu Hashim, son of Utbah ibn Rabia ibn Abd Shams ibn Abd Manaf, his mother was Khunas bint Malik ibn al-Mudarrib ibn Hujr ibn Abd ibn Ma'is ibn Aamir ibn Luay, and he was blind in one eye. He was killed in the battle of Yarmouk during the time of Muawiya."
[Machine] Abu Huraira arrived in Damascus and stayed with Abu Kulthum Al-Saddusi. We visited him and discussed the middle prayer. We disagreed about it, so Abu Huraira said, "You disagreed about it just as we did when we were in Quba, near the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . And there was a righteous man with us, Abu Hashim ibn Utba ibn Rabi'ah. He stood up and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and had a discussion with him. Then he came back to us and informed us that it is the Asr prayer."
[Machine] "O uncle, what makes you cry? Is it pain or sadness over this worldly life?" He replied, "No, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a covenant with me that I have not fulfilled. He said to me, 'O Abu Hashim, wealth will come to you from people.'" Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.
27.334 [Machine] The Mention of Abu Al-As Ibn Ar-Rabi'
[Machine] "Abu Al-'As ibn Al-Rabiah was the husband of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and the cousin of her mother, Hala bint Khwailid, the sister of Khadijah. The name of Abu Al-'As's father is Muhasham, and he was known as Jirw Al-Bat'ha. Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was born to Abu Al-'As and his wife, Ali ibn Abi Al-'As and Ummama, the daughter of Abu Al-'As. Abu Al-'As passed away in the eleventh year of Abu Bakr's caliphate."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) annulled Zainab's marriage to Abi Al-As by the first marriage, and nothing else was mentioned. This is a valid chain of narration according to the condition of Muslim. It has been narrated that the Prophet (pbuh) returned her to him with a new marriage, which is incorrect."
[Machine] Zainab, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, embraced Islam before her husband Abu Al-As by a year. Then, Abu Al-As also embraced Islam. The Prophet ﷺ sent her back with a new marriage contract. This statement is false, and perhaps he meant that she migrated before him by a year.
27.335 [Machine] The mention of Abdullah ibn 'Amir ibn Kareez.
[Machine] Abu Musa, "A noble young man from the Quraysh tribe has come to you, respected by mothers, aunts, and female relatives. He speaks about the wealth among you, saying such and such, or that he possesses many virtues. He was the one who conquered Khorasan and made Nishapur forbidden for pilgrimage, out of gratitude to Allah the Almighty. He also performed the ritual of offering water (siqaya) in Arafah."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever is killed while defending their wealth is a martyr." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
27.336 [Machine] The mention of Hind and the halo of my father Hala's son.
[Machine] Hind daughter of Abu Halaah daughter of Malik, one of the descendants of Usaid bin Amr bin Tameem, a confederate of the Banu Abdildar, and the daughter of Khadijah.
[Machine] "Abu Halah is the husband of Khadija, his name is Hind bin Al-Nabbash bin Zurarah, and their children are Hind and Halah. Hind witnessed Hind's martyrdom."
[Machine] Regarding the adornment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , the mentioning of the hadith in its entirety.
[Machine] He entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was lying down, so the Prophet ﷺ woke up and embraced Hala, bringing her closer to his chest and said, "Hala, Hala, Hala," as if he ﷺ was delighted by her resemblance to Khadijah.
27.337 [Machine] The mention of Abdullah son of Zama'a son of Al-Aswad.
