27. Book of the Companions (45/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me while I was milking and said, "Leave the one who calls for milk." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.

27.303 [Machine] The Mention of Wabisa ibn Ma'bad al-Asadi
[Machine] "Al-Nashajee's father Ma'bad bin Qais bin Ka'b bin Fahd bin Munqidh bin Al-Harith bin Tha'labah bin Doudan bin Asad bin Khuzaymah settled in Kufa and later moved to Al-Jazeera, where he passed away."
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Do not use the backs of animals as pulpits, and the worst of these animals is the mule." This is a weak hadith.
27.304 [Machine] The Mention of Khuraim bin Fatik Al-Asadi
[Machine] "Khuraim bin Fatik bin L'Akram bin Shaddad bin Amr Al-Asadi" translates to "Khuraim, son of Fatik, son of L'Akram, son of Shaddad, son of Amr Al-Asadi."
«خُرَيْمُ بْنُ فَاتِكِ بْنِ لْأَخْرَمِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسَدِيِّ»
[Machine] I went out with camels to graze them, and lightning struck one of them and paralyzed it. I propped it up and leaned on the arm of another camel. This incident happened during the Prophet's ﷺ time. Then I said, "I seek refuge in the greatness of this valley." He said, "That is how they used to do in the days of ignorance (before the advent of Islam). But then, a caller shouted and said, 'The sea, the storm!' Woe to you, seek refuge in Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, the One who has revealed the Haram (sanctified) and the Halal (permissible), and the One who has Oneness. Do not pay attention to what is terrifying, when they mention Allah on the vast distances, in the plains, the mountains, and in narrow winding valleys. The true guardian in travails is piety and righteous actions."
I said, "O caller, by what is diverting and can be seen as correct according to you, or misleading?"
He said, "This is the Messenger of Allah, the One who possesses goods. He has brought Yasin and Ha-Mim verses in chapters and verses that are prohibited and lawful. He orders fasting and prayer and forbids people from being negligent. There were evil deeds in the days that passed."
I said, "Who are you, may Allah have mercy on you?"
He said, "I am Malik ibn Malik. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me from the land of the people of Najd."
I said, "If I had someone to take care of my camels, I would have come to see him to believe and have faith in him."
He said, "I will take care of them until I bring them safely to your family, if Allah wills."
So I took one camel from the herd and went to Madinah. I arrived when people were praying on Friday, so I said, "They are performing their prayers, then I will enter. I am leaving now, my camel is thirsty." Abu Dhar came out and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ says 'Come in.'" So I entered. When the Prophet ﷺ saw me, he said, "What happened to the old man who assured you to bring your camel back safely to your family? Hasn't he delivered it safely to them?" I said, "May Allah have mercy on him." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, may Allah have mercy on him." Khuraym said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and his Islam is beautiful." The end.

He heard him saying, 'O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, Michael, and Israfil, and Muhammad ﷺ , I seek refuge in You from the Fire, three times.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."

[Machine] Abu Ubaydah was named Abu al-Lahm (Father of Meat) because he refused to eat meat.
[Machine] And he said, he said, "Muhammad ibn Umar said, 'My father Al-Lahm used to descend to the yellow area in three parts of the city, and Umair, his attendant, used to descend with him.'"
[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, Hatim ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Yazid ibn Abi 'Ubayd said: I heard Umair, the servant of Abu al-Lahm, saying: My master ordered me to prepare meat for him, so a poor man came to me and I fed him from it. My master struck me, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him about it. The Prophet ﷺ called my master and asked him: Why did you hit him? He replied: He fed my food without my permission. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The reward is between you both." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.

[Machine] While we were walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a restricted area of ar-Rawha, we were riding on a lame donkey. So I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Leave it." Then, the owner of the donkey, who was a man from Bahz, came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is your opinion about this donkey?" So the Prophet ﷺ commanded Abu Bakr to divide it among the companions. As they were passing by a deer tied under a tree with an arrow, the Prophet ﷺ commanded a man not to take it. So the people moved on and left it.

[Machine] That some men from his people and others from the Arabs came to him and said, "Indeed, Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib has emerged, calling to a religion other than our religion." So Qabith stood up and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When he entered upon him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Sit down, O Qabith." So Qabith became silent. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Are you the one who said, 'If the women of the Quraysh were to come out with their ability, they would turn Muhammad and his companions away?'" Qabith said, "By the One Who sent you with the truth, I did not speak those words with my tongue, my lips did not stammer with them, and I did not hear anyone say them from me. It is only something that whispered in my soul. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that you are His slave and Messenger. And what you have brought is the truth."

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "The prayer of two men, where one of them leads the other, is more virtuous in the sight of Allah than the prayer of forty individuals performed individually. The prayer of four men, where one of them leads the other, is more virtuous in the sight of Allah than the prayer of eighty individuals performed individually. And the prayer of eight men, where one of them leads the other, is more virtuous in the sight of Allah the Exalted than the prayer of one hundred individuals performed individually."

[Machine] "It was a matter that saddened me in myself that I did not ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, nor did I hear anyone asking him about it. So I waited for the opportunity until one day I entered upon him while he was performing ablution. I found him free and feeling content. So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, may I ask you?' He said, 'Yes, ask about what concerns you.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is faith?' He said, 'Forbearance and patience.' I said, 'Which believers have the best faith?' He said, 'Those who have the best character.' I said, 'Which Muslims are the best?' He said, 'Those from whose hands and tongues other Muslims are safe.' I said, 'Which jihad is the best?' He bowed his head and remained silent for a long time until I feared that I had burdened him. I wished that I had not asked him after I heard him say yesterday, 'The greatest sin among Muslims is to ask about something that has not been forbidden. Therefore, it is forbidden for them because of his question.' So I sought refuge with Allah from the anger of Allah and the anger of His Messenger ﷺ . He raised his head and said, 'How did you phrase your question?' I said, 'Which jihad is the best?' He said, 'A word of justice before an oppressive ruler.' This was narrated by Abu Badr al-Rawi on the authority of Abdullah bin Ubayd bin Umair, whose name is Bashir bin Al-Hakam, a scholar from Basra. This hadith is considered weak, according to Al-Hakim."

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us during one of the prayers, either noon or afternoon prayer, while carrying Al-Hasan or Al-Hussein. He went forward and placed them near his right foot, and the messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated for a long time. I lifted my head among the people and saw that the messenger of Allah ﷺ was prostrating and the boy was riding on his back. So, I sat down and prostrated. When the messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, some people said, "O messenger of Allah, you prostrated in this prayer in a way that we have never seen before, something you were commanded to do or something that was revealed to you?" He replied, "No, that was not the case. Rather, my son was riding me, so I disliked to hurry him until he fulfills his need." The narration is authentic.

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited this verse: "So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, and none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]" (Surah Al-Fajr, 26). Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his concise summary.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me and what he taught me is this: Observe the five prayers regularly. He said: I told (him): I have many works at these times; so give me a comprehensive advice which, if I follow, should be enough for me. He said: Observe the two afternoon prayers (al-asrayn). But the term al-asrayn (two afternoon prayers) was not used in our language. Hence I said: What is al-asrayn? He said: A prayer before the sunrise and a prayer before the sunset (i.e. the dawn and the afternoon prayers). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 428)

[Machine] Mu'asabu al-Habr is the son of 'Umayr ibn 'Ubaid ibn Hashim ibn 'Abd Manaf ibn 'Abd ad-Dar ibn Qusayy. He is the reciter (of the Quran) whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to the Ansar to recite the Quran to them in Madinah before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He embraced Islam with him, along with many other people, and he participated in the Battle of Badr.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting at Quba' with a group of people when Mus'ab ibn 'Umair came to him wearing a garment that barely covered him, and his people were poor. He greeted them and they returned his greeting. The Prophet ﷺ praised him and spoke highly of him. Then he said, "I have seen him with his parents in Makkah, they used to honor him and treat him kindly, and there was no young man from the Quraish like him. Then he left all that seeking the pleasure of Allah and the support of His Messenger. Know that he will not come to you except like this and this until Persia and Rome are opened before you. One of you would go in the morning wearing a dress and in the evening he would be wearing something else, and he would have breakfast with you in one place and have dinner with you in another place." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, are we better today or that day?" He said, "No, you are better today than you were on that day. If only you knew what I know of this world, you would have been at peace with it." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his summary.

[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Suhail ibn Bayda'ah, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , were together on a camel, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Suhail ibn Bayda'ah!" He raised his voice twice or three times, and Suhail responded to him. The people heard the voice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so they knew that he was calling them. Those who were in front of him sat down, and those who were behind him followed him until they gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah, Allah will make Paradise obligatory for him and prohibit him from the Fire." This narration has a good chain of transmission.
