27. Book of the Companions (52/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
Umaymah is the daughter of Ruqayqah and Ruqayqah is her mother. Her father is ʿAbdullāh b. Bijād b. ʿUmayr b. al-Ḥārith ibn Ḥarithah b. Saʿd b. Taym b. Murrah. Her mother is Ruqayqa b. Khuwaylid b. Asad b. ʿAbdalʿuzzá, the sister of Khadījah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ.
Umaymah remained single and then Ḥabīb b. Kaʿb b. ʿUtayr al-Thaqafī married her. She gave birth to al-Nahdiyyah. Umaymah b. Ruqayqah lived after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and narrated from him.
[Machine] About Ummuimah, the aunt of Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , she said, "I heard her say, 'We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he bound us not to associate anything with Allah.'" Then she mentioned a narration similar to what Ibn Ishaq reported from Ibn al-Munkadir.
27.402 [Machine] Mention of Barirah, the freed slave of Aisha, and the agreement of the two sheikhs on the hadith of Yazid ibn Ruman. 6949 - On the authority of Urwah, on the authority of Barirah, that she said: "There are three things from the Sunnah that I have verified. I mentioned them to Aisha, and she had nine sheets [of hadith]. Aisha said: 'If you wish, I will count them for you and give them to you, in order to mention the complete story.'
27.403 [Machine] The mention of Layla, the confidant of Aisha
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered to relieve himself, and I entered after him but I did not see anything. However, I could smell the scent of musk. So, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did not see anything." He said, "Verily, the earth has been commanded to suffice us, the company of prophets."
27.404 [Machine] Mentioning the virtues of the tribes "and these are biographies not mentioned by the two sheikhs in their two books, some of which are
27.405 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Quraysh
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "For a man from the Quraysh, the strength is equivalent to the strength of two men from the Quraysh." Al-Zuhri said, "It means obtaining leadership."
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to Umar ibn al-Khattab, "O Umar, gather your people for me." So he gathered them, and then the Prophet entered upon them and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have gathered them. Should they come to you or should you go to them?" He said, "No, I will go to them." The Emigrants and the Helpers heard this, and they said, "There has come a revelation about the Quraysh." The onlookers and the listeners were present with them, so the Prophet stood among them and said, "Is there anyone among you other than yourselves?" They said, "Yes, among us are our allies, the sons of our brothers, and our supporters." The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "Our allies are from among us, and our supporters are from among us." Then he said, "Do you listen to those among you who are righteous? If you are among them, then it is as I have said. If not, then hearken and beware, for people will not bring their deeds to you while you bring your burdens to them." Then he called out, raising his voice, and said, "Indeed, the Quraysh are the people of trust. Whoever transgresses against them, Allah will disgrace him from his throat." He repeated this statement three times.
[Machine] While we were sitting in the courtyard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a woman passed by. A man from the people said, "This is the daughter of Muhammad." Abu Sufyan said, "Indeed, the likeness of Muhammad among the Banu Hashim is like the sweet-scented flower in the middle of the fig trees." The woman went and informed the Prophet ﷺ , so the Prophet came out with anger apparent on his face and said, "What is the matter with people's words reaching me? Verily, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, created the heavens and chose the highest, then He created creation and chose from His creation the Children of Adam, and from the Children of Adam He chose the Arabs, and from the Arabs He chose Mudar, and from Mudar He chose Quraysh, and from Quraysh He chose Banu Hashim, and from Banu Hashim He chose me. So, I am from Banu Hashim, from the best to the best. So, whoever loves the Arabs, then they should love me, and whoever hates the Arabs, then they should hate me." And it has been narrated in this chain from Muhammad ibn Dhuwān from 'Amr ibn Dīnār from Abdullah ibn 'Umar.
[Machine] While we were sitting in the courtyard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he mentioned the entire narration exactly as it happened.
[Machine] "O my son, if you are to be appointed over the people in any matter, then honor the Quraysh, for I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever humiliates the Quraysh, Allah will humiliate him.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever seeks to disgrace the Quraysh, Allah will disgrace him." This hadith was narrated by Al-Laith ibn Saad from Yazid ibn Abdullah ibn Usama ibn Al-Hadi, who heard it from Ibrahim ibn Saad. He is considered one of the trustworthy narrators when it comes to transmitting the statements of the elders from the younger generation.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever seeks to humiliate the Quraysh, Allah will humiliate him without a doubt." Yusuf ibn Abi Aqil, undoubtedly the son of al-Hakam, and the narration from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is authentic, that a child does not bear the sins of his father.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying on the pulpit, "What is the matter with people who claim that my intercession will not benefit them? By Allah, my intercession is connected to this world and the hereafter. And oh people, I will have more followers at the Pond (of Kawthar), but when I arrive, some men will stand up and say, 'This is O Messenger of Allah, I am so-and-so,' and another will say, 'This is O Messenger of Allah, I am so-and-so,' and another will say, 'This is O Messenger of Allah, I am so-and-so.' Then I will say, 'I have recognized you, but you have innovated after me and returned to disbelief.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The safety of the people of the earth from conflict is through loyalty to the Quraysh, for Quraysh are the people of Allah. But when a tribe from the Arabs opposes them, it becomes a party of Satan."
"We used to come across groups of Quraish who would be talking, but they would stop talking (when we approached). We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'What is the matter with people who talk, then when they see a man from my family they stop talking? By Allah, faith will not enter a person's heart until he loves them for the sake of Allah and because of their closeness to me.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 140)
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, when Quraysh meet each other, they greet one another with smiles. But when they meet us, they meet us with unknown faces." He became extremely angry and then said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, faith does not enter the heart of a man until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger." Al-Dhahabi remained quiet on this matter in summary.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The leaders are from Quraysh. The righteous ones among them are the leaders of the righteous, and the wicked ones among them are the leaders of the wicked. Everyone has a right, so give everyone their due right. And if I appoint a slave of Abyssinian descent as a leader over you, then listen to him and obey him as long as he does not command you to commit a sin. If he commands you to commit a sin, then none of you should choose between embracing Islam or have his neck struck, but instead he should prioritize having his neck struck, for he will lose both this world and the Hereafter after abandoning Islam." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this statement in his summary.
27.406 [Machine] The Mention of the Virtue of the Migrants
[Machine] To the Prophet ﷺ , "Do you have a fortress and a fortress that prevents the entry of foes?" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to a storage area for the Ansar and said, "Tufayl emigrated and a man from his people emigrated with him. But the man fell ill and said a word that made him distraught. He came to a horn and took a knife and cut his veins, and he died. Tufayl saw him in a dream and said, "What did Allah do to you?" He said, "He forgave me for my emigration to the Prophet ﷺ ." He said, "What is wrong with your hands?" He said, "I was told that we will not fix from you what you have damaged yourself." Tufayl narrated it to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Oh Allah, be a guardian to his parents and forgive him." And he raised his hands.
[Machine] "They are the ones who migrated with the Prophet ﷺ to Medina."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, the emigrants will have minbars (pulpits) made of gold upon which they will sit on the Day of Resurrection. They will have been saved from fear." Abu Sa'id added, "By Allah, if I had one of those minbars, I would have preferred it over my people."
27.407 [Machine] The mention of the people of Badr
[Machine] Umar ibn Al-Khattab wrote a letter to Hattib ibn Abi Balta'ah to deliver it to the people of Makkah. Allah, the Most High, revealed to His Prophet ﷺ what had happened. So the Prophet sent Ali and Zubayr to chase after them. They caught up with a woman riding a camel and they took the letter she had concealed in one of the humps. They brought it to the Prophet ﷺ who read it and then sent for Hattib. The Prophet asked him, "O Hattib, did you write this letter?" Hattib replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet asked him, "What prompted you to do this?" Hattib replied, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I am loyal to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, but I was a stranger among the people of Makkah and my family was still there. So I feared for their safety and wrote a letter that would not harm Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Perhaps it will be of benefit to my family." Umar said, "I drew my sword and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, allow me to strike his neck, for he has committed disbelief.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'O Ibn Al-Khattab, what makes you think that Allah has not seen the people of this group from the Battle of Badr? Do as you please, for I have forgiven you all.'"

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted looked upon the people of Badr and said, 'Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you.'"
27.408 [Machine] Recitation of the virtues of the Ansar
“When the Day of Resurrection comes, I will be the leader of the Prophets and the one who addresses them, and the one among them who will agree to intercede, and it is no boast.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4314)
[Machine] He said, "Indeed, the last sermon that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered, he said, 'O congregation of Emigrants, indeed you have increased in number while the Ansar (Helpers) have ceased to exist. And they are my trust that I seek refuge with. So honor their righteous and overlook their wrongdoers.'"
[Machine] The prophet ﷺ went out during his illness, with his head wrapped in a cloth, and said, "Indeed, people have increased while the Ansar [the supporters of the Prophet] have decreased until they become like salt in the food. So whoever among you is entrusted with any task, let him accept from the well-doers among them and overlook the wrongdoers."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying on the pulpit addressing the Ansar (the Helpers): "Surely, people are the armor of each other, and the Ansar are my flag. If people go one way and the Ansar go another way in a valley, I would go with the Ansar. Whoever honors the Ansar, Allah will honor him. Whoever disrespects them, Allah will disrespect him. Whoever troubles them, Allah will trouble him. He then pointed to himself and said, 'If it were not for the emigration, I would have been one of the Ansar.'"
[Machine] He entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while he was in the pain in which he died, and he said, "Say salaam to your people, for indeed they do not know hardship and patience." Authenticated by the chain of narration, but it was not included in Sahih collections.
[Machine] Usaid ibn Hudayr al-Ashhali came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was distributing food. He mentioned to him that there was a family among the Ansar from the Banu Dhafar who were in need. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Most of the household members are women." He then said to Usaid, "O Usaid, you have left us until what we had in our hands is gone. When you hear that something has been brought to us, please inform us about the people of that household." After that, some food from Khaybar came to him, which included barley and dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed it among the people, among the Ansar, and among the family mentioned earlier. He gave generously to all three. Usaid bin Hudayr expressed his gratitude by saying, "May Allah reward you, O Prophet of Allah, the best reward or bestow goodness upon you." The Prophet ﷺ responded, "And may Allah grant you the best of rewards, O people of the Ansar. Indeed, I know that you are gentle, patient, and will continue to support and uphold the matter after me. So remain patient until you meet me at the Hawd (on the Day of Judgment)."
[Machine] Indeed, the Ansar were facing difficult times, so they went to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him to pray for them or to dig a river for them. The Prophet ﷺ was informed about their request, and he said, "Do not ask me today for anything except that I will give it to you." When they heard what the Prophet ﷺ said, they said, "Pray to Allah for us for forgiveness." He said, "O Allah, forgive the Ansar and the children of the Ansar and the children of the children of the Ansar."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ received young boys from the young boys of the Ansar, as well as maidens and slaves. He said, "By Allah, I love you all." This is an authentic narration according to the conditions of Muslim, and it was not excluded by Adh-Dhahabi in his summary.

[Machine] Al-Hayyan, from the Ansar, felt proud and said, "Among us are those whose death caused the throne of the Most Merciful to shake, like Sa'd bin Mu'adh. Among us are those who were protected from harm, like Aasim bin Thabit bin Al-Afalah. Among us are those whom the angels washed, like Hanzalah bin Al-Rahib. Among us are those whose testimony was accepted by two witnesses, like Khuzaymah bin Thabit." The Khazraj tribe said, "Among us are four who compiled the Qur'an, and no one else did so. They are Ubay bin Ka'b, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Zaid bin Thabit, and Abu Zaid."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to present horses, and with him was Uyaynah bin Badr Al-Fazari. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "I know more about horses than you." Uyaynah replied, "And I know more about men than you." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Who are the best of men?" Uyaynah said, "Men who carry their swords on their shoulders and their spears on the manes of their horses, from the men of Najd." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, you are wrong. The best of men are the men of Yemen, and faith is Yemeni, until it reaches Al-Lakhm, and scabs, and infectious diseases, and the meat of donkeys is better than their meat, and Hadramaut is better than Bani Harith. By Allah, I do not care if both Hariths perish. May Allah curse the four kings: Jamdah, Makhwass, A'bidah, and their sister Amardah." Then he said, "My Lord commanded me to curse the Quraysh twice, so I cursed them twice. And my Lord commanded me to pray for them, so I prayed for them twice." Then he said, "May Allah curse Tameem bin Murrah five times, and Bakr bin Wail seven times, and may Allah curse two tribes of the tribes of Bani Tameem, Muqa'is and Muladis." Then he said, "Ussayyah, who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, are the slaves of Qays, Ja'dah, and Asim." Then he said, "Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, and Ahlaf from Juhaynah are better than Bani Asad, Tameem, Ghatafan, and Hawazin on the Day of Resurrection." Then he said, "The worst two tribes among the Arabs are Najran and Banu Taghlib, and the majority of tribes in Paradise are Mudhij."

When the Prophet ﷺ arrived, he said to him, "O Aamir, accept Islam and you will be safe." Aamir replied, "Yes, but I will have the cattle and you will have the pasture." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "This is not how it works. Either accept Islam as it is or leave." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Aamir, go and we will discuss your matter tomorrow." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a message to the Ansar and asked, "What do you think? I have invited this man but he refuses to accept Islam unless he has the cattle and I have the pasture." They said, "Whatever Allah wills, then you may do as you please, O Messenger of Allah." They did not take anything from us except two headbands, so we took two from them. Allah and His Messenger know best." Aamir returned to the Prophet ﷺ and he said to him, "Accept Islam and you will be safe, O Aamir." Aamir replied, "It is only on that condition." He refused to accept unless he had the cattle and the Prophet ﷺ had the pasture. The Prophet ﷺ refused and Aamir said, "By Allah, I will gather an army against you, including horses and men." The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah forbid that to happen to you, the sons of the tribe of Aws and Khazraj." Then Aamir left and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, take care of him." Allah caused him to be killed before he reached his people. Aamir said when the sacrificial animal took hold of him, "O Aal-Aamir, this is a fat cow, like a fat young beast. It destroyed him in an instant, separate from his people." Al-Dhahabi did not mention anything further about it in his summary.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever ascends the mountain of Marar, he will be shielded from what was shielded from the Children of Israel." The first to ascend it was the horses of Banu Khazraj, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "All of you are forgiven, except for the owner of the red camel." So, a Bedouin who had lost his camel came to him, and we told him to go and ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to seek forgiveness for him. He said, "I would rather find my lost camel than have the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek forgiveness for me."

[Machine] I heard three things from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about Banu Tamim: "I will never harbor hatred towards the people of Tamim. Aisha made a vow when she was still married to Isma'il's descendants, and some people from Banu Al-Anbar were taken as captives. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Aisha, 'If you wish, you can fulfill your vow by setting free one of these captives.' So, Aisha liberated a captive from them and made him part of Isma'il's descendants. The Prophet ﷺ then brought some blessings from the charity given to the people of Sa'd. When he saw it, he said, 'These are blessings from my people,' and he made them his people. He also said, 'They are the fiercest warriors in battles.'"

[Machine] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying about Allah's saying, "You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind." [Quran 3:110] He said, "You are seventy nations, the best and most honorable of them in the sight of Allah, the Almighty."

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Huraira, in his statement, Allah the Almighty says: "You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah." (Surah Al-Imran, 3:110) "You will surely drag them in chains and enter the religion 'Islam'."

[Machine] The Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed every prophet has followers, and we have followed you, so pray to Allah that He makes our followers from among us." So he prayed for them, "O Allah, make their followers from among them." I attributed this narration to Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Layla and he said, "This claim was made by Zaid bin Arqam." The chain of narrators is authentic, but it was not mentioned in a Sahih collection.

[Machine] "I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ , and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do you know who among the people of faith has the best faith?' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is it the angels?' He said, 'They are indeed, and that is fitting for them, as Allah has bestowed upon them a status that He has not given to others.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about the prophets who were honored by Allah Almighty with prophecy and messengership?' He said, 'They are likewise, and they deserve that. Allah has bestowed upon them a status that He has not given to others.' They said, 'So who are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'They are people who will come after me, believed in me without seeing me, and they find the pages hanging and they act according to what is written on them. These are the best people in faith.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah created mankind, He chose the Arabs, then He chose from the Arabs the Quraysh, then He chose from the Quraysh the Banu Hashim, and then He chose me from the Banu Hashim. So, I am the best of the best." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about summarizing this.
