٢٧۔ كِتَابُ مَعْرِفَةِ الصَّحَابَةِ ؓ ص ٢٩
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
أَمَّا الشَّيْخَانِ فَإِنَّهُمَا لَمْ يَزِيدَا عَلَى الْمَنَاقِبِ، وَقَدْ بَدَأْنَا فِي أَوَّلِ ذِكْرِ الصَّحَابِيِّ بِمَعْرِفَةِ نَسَبِهِ وَوَفَاتِهِ، ثُمَّ بِمَا يَصِحُّ عَلَى شَرْطِهِمَا مِنْ مَنَاقِبِهِ مِمَّا لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ فَلَمْ أَسْتَغْنِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْوَاقِدِيِّ وَأَقْرَانِهِ فِي الْمَعْرِفَةِ
[Machine] "And Jibreel (Gabriel) peace and blessings be upon him, descended to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, 'Which of the two things do you prefer: to remain in the world with your companions or to return to your Lord with what He has promised you of the gardens of bliss with the wide-eyed maidens and the eternal bliss, and whatever your soul desires and your eyes find pleasure in?' So he consulted his companions and they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is dearer to us that you are with us, informing us about the plans of our enemies, supplicating to Allah to grant us victory over them, and informing us about news from the heavens.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Why do you not speak, O beloved?' So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, choose whatever your Lord has chosen for you.' So he accepted that from me."

وَنَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَيُّ الْأَمْرَيْنِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ تَكُونَ فِي دُنْيَاكَ مَعَ أَصْحَابِكَ أَوْ تُرَدُّ عَلَى رَبِّكَ فِيمَا وَعَدَكَ مِنْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ مِنَ الْحُورِالْعَيْنِ وَالنَّعِيمِ الْمُقِيمِ وَمَا اشْتَهَتْ نَفْسُكَ وَمَا قَرَّتْ بِهِ عَيْنُكَ فَاسْتَشَارَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَكُونُ مَعَنَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا وَتُخْبِرَنَا بِعَوْرَاتِ عَدُوِّنَا وَتَدْعُو اللَّهَ لِيَنْصُرَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ وَتُخْبِرَنَا مِنْ خَبَرِ السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا لَكَ لَا تَتَكَلَّمُ يَا حُبَابُ؟» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ اخْتَرْ حَيْثُ اخْتَارَ لَكَ رَبُّكَ فَقَبِلَ ذَلِكَ مِنِّيحديث منكر وسنده
[Machine] On the day of the Saqifah, a man from Banu Salimah known as Al-Hubab bin Al-Mundhir said, "I am its arbitrator." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about him in his summary.
يَوْمَ السَّقِيفَةِ «أَنَا جُذَيْلُهَا الْمُحَكَّكُ» رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحُبَابُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
27.155 [Machine] He follows the virtues of Zaid ibn Thabit.
٢٧۔١٥٥ يَلْحَقُ بِفَضَائِلَ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ
[Machine] Abu Hurairah said, "Today the ink of this ummah (nation) has dried up, and perhaps Allah will make from the son of Ibn Abbas a successor from it."
أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ «مَاتَ الْيَوْمَ حَبْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ وَلَعَلَّ اللَّهُ يَجْعَلُ فِي ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِنْهُ خَلَفًا»
[Machine] About six of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were Omar, Abdullah, and Zaid, whose knowledge was similar to one another. They would take some knowledge from each other. I asked Ash-Sha'bi and Al-Ash'ari, who were they? He said, "They were one of the jurists."
عَنْ سِتَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ عُمَرُ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَزَيْدٌ يُشْبِهُ عِلْمُهُمْ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا فَكَانَ يَقْتَبِسُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِلشَّعْبِيِّ وَكَانَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ إِلَى هَؤُلَاءِ؟ قَالَ «كَانَ أَحَدُ الْفُقَهَاءِ»
[Machine] "And he said, 'This is how knowledge disappears.'"
وَقَالَ «هَكَذَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ»
«هَكَذَا يُصْنَعُ بِالْعُلَمَاءِ»
«هَكَذَا يُدْفَنُ الْعِلْمُ»
[Machine] "Such is the disappearance of knowledge. Today, much knowledge has been buried."
«هَكَذَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ لَقَدْ دُفِنَ الْيَوْمَ عَلْمٌ كَثِيرٌ»
27.156 [Machine] The Mention of the Virtues of Safwan ibn Umayyah al-Jumahi.
٢٧۔١٥٦ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الْجُمَحِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "And Abu Ahyaab Safwan ibn Umayyah ibn Khalaf ibn Wahb ibn Hudhayfah ibn Jumah passed away, and he embraced Islam at the time of the conquest. He died in the year forty-three."
«وَمَاتَ أَبُو أَهْيَبَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ خَلَفِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ بْنِ جُمَحٍ وَكَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ عِنْدَ الْفَتْحِ مَاتَ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»
27.157 [Machine] Mentioning the Virtues of Uthman bin Talha bin Abi Talha
٢٧۔١٥٧ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ
[Machine] "Uthman bin Talha bin Abi Talha bin Abdul-Azza bin Uthman bin Abdul-Dar and his mother, the daughter of Saeed bin Sumayyah from the Banu Amr bin Auf of the people of Quba. He embraced Islam at the same time as Amr bin Al-Aas and Khalid bin Al-Walid. He passed away in Makkah in the year forty-three."
«عُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الدَّارِ وَأُمُّهُ بِنْتُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سُمَيَّةَ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ وَكَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ وَإِسْلَامُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فِي وَقْتٍ وَاحِدٍ وَتُوُفِّيَ بِمَكَّةَ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»
[Machine] "And from the descendants of Banī ʿAbd al-Dār ibn Qusayy, he mentioned this lineage and his mother was Sallāmah bint Saʿīd from Banī ʿAmr ibn ʿAwf, from the people of Qubāʾ. He embraced Islam before the conquest along with ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ and Khālid ibn al-Walīd, and he arrived in Medina in the month of Ṣafar, the eighth year of the Hijrah. He died in Makkah two years and forty days after the reign of Muʿāwiya."
«وَمِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ بْنِ قُصَيٍّ فَذَكَرَ هَذَا النَّسَبَ وَأُمُّهُ سَلَّامَةُ بِنْتُ سَعِيدٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ وَكَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ قَبْلَ الْفَتْحِ مَعَ إِسْلَامِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ وَخَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ وَقَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فِي صَفَرٍ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ وَمَاتَ بِمَكَّةَ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ حِينَ قَامَ مُعَاوِيَةُ»
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enter the Kaaba along with Usama bin Zaid, Bilal, and Uthman bin Talha, and no one else entered it with them." Bilal informed me that he had asked Uthman bin Talha where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had prayed. He replied, "Between the two Yemeni pillars." It has also been narrated by Shu'bah bin Uthman from his uncle Uthman bin Talha."
«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ هُوَ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَبِلَالٌ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ لَمْ يَدْخُلْهَا مَعَهُمْ أَحَدٌ» فَأَخْبَرَنِي بِلَالٌ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ» وَقَدْ رَوَى شَيْبَةُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ
[Machine] "It was narrated that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There are three qualities that will make your love for your brother sincere: greeting him when you meet him, giving him space in the gathering, and calling him by his beloved names. Abu al-Mutarrif Muhammad ibn Abi al-Wazir, from the trustworthy people of Basra and their predecessors, I do not know that I have relied on him in any narration other than this. Abu Mutarrif's reliability was doubted by Abu Hatim.'"
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ ثَلَاثُ يَصْفِينَ لَكَ وُدُّ أَخِيكَ تُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا لَقِيتَهُ وَتُوَسِّعُ لَهُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ وَتَدْعُوهُ بِأَحَبِّ أَسْمَائِهِ إِلَيْهِ «أَبُو الْمُطَرِّفِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْوَزِيرِ مِنْ ثِقَاتِ الْبَصْرِيِّينَ وَقُدَمَائِهِمْ لَا أَعْلَمُ أَنِّي عَلَوْتُ لَهُ فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِ هَذَا» أبو مطرف ضعفه أبو حاتم
27.158 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaynah
٢٧۔١٥٨ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ ؓ
[Machine] About the Prophet, peace be upon him, it is said, "Indeed, Abdullah was only the servant of Allah who saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, and his mother's womb was illuminated."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَبُحَيْنَةُ أُمُّهُ»
[Machine] "On his side". The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had his beard trimmed with a pair of scissors. Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Husayn al-Baqir and Muhammad ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Thawban narrated from Abdullah ibn Malik ibn Buhayna.
عَنْ جَنْبَيْهِ» وَاحْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِلَحْيِ جَمَلٍ وَقَدْ رَوَى أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْبَاقِرِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ
27.159 [Machine] Regarding the narration of Al-Baqir
٢٧۔١٥٩ أَمَا حَدِيثُ الْبَاقِرِ ؓ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to perform the Fajr prayer, and Bilal was with him. He led the prayer and passed by me, saying, "You should pray four (rak'ahs) for Fajr." Sheikh Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq narrated that I am Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Ziyad, reporting from Abu Hummah, who reported from Abu Qura, who reported from Ibn Juraij and Sufyan Ath-Thawri, who reported from Ja'far ibn Muhammad. They mentioned the hadith in a similar manner.
خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ فَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ فَمَرَّ بِي وَقَالَ تُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا أَنْبَأَ الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ثَنَا أَبُو حُمَةَ ثَنَا أَبُو قُرَّةَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ وَسُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ
27.160 [Machine] As for the narration of Muhammad ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Thawban
٢٧۔١٦٠ وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him while he was standing and praying the morning prayer in front of him. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not perform this prayer before noon and after it, and make a separation between them.'" Imam Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ مُنْتَصِبٌ يُصَلِّي بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ» فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا تَجْعَلُوا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَبَعْدَهَا وَاجْعَلُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَصْلًا» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
27.161 [Machine] Mentioning the virtues of Nafi' ibn 'Utbah ibn Abi Waqqas
٢٧۔١٦١ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ نَافِعِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ؓ
[Machine] "Nafi' ibn 'Utbah ibn Malik ibn Ahya ibn 'Abd Manaf ibn Zuhrah, and his mother is from Kinanah, and her name is Zaynab bint Jabir."
«نَافِعُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافِ بْنِ زُهْرَةَ وَأُمُّهُ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ وَاسْمُهَا زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَابِرٍ»
[Machine] "And it is said that his mother is Aatikah bint Awf, the sister of Abdur Rahman ibn Awf."
وَيُقَالُ أُمُّهُ عَاتِكَةُ بِنْتُ عَوْفٍ أُخْتُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ»
[Machine] Some people from the Arabs came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to greet him, and they were wearing wool. So I stood up and said, "I will sit between these people and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Then I said to myself, "He is the savior of the people." Then my soul refused anything other than going to him. He said, "I heard him saying, 'They will wage war against the Arabian Peninsula and Allah will conquer it. Then they will wage war against Persia and Allah will conquer it. Then they will wage war against the Dajjal (Antichrist) and Allah will conquer him.'"
قَدِمَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْهِ عَلَيْهِمُ الصُّوفُ فَقُمْتُ فَقُلْتُ لَأَحُولَنَّ بَيْنَ هَؤُلَاءِ وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي هُوَ نَجِيُّ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ أَبَتْ نَفْسِي إِلَّا أَنْ أَقُومَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «يَغْزُونَ جَزِيرَةَ الْعَرَبِ فَيَفْتَحُهَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ يَغْزُونَ فَارِسَ فَيَفْتَحُهَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ يَغْزُونَ الدَّجَّالَ فَيَفْتَحُهُ اللَّهُ» موسى بن عبد الملك واه
27.162 [Machine] The virtues of Abdul Rahman bin Azhar.
٢٧۔١٦٢ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ ؓ
[Machine] "Abdul Rahman, son of Azhar, son of Awf, son of Abdul Harith, son of Zuhrah, son of Kilab, and he is also known as Abu Zubair. His mother is Bukayrah, daughter of Abdul Yazid, son of Hashim, son of Muttalib, son of Abdul Manaf. He witnessed the Battle of Hunayn with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
«عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَزْهَرَ بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ كِلَابٍ وَيُكَنَّى أَبَا زُبَيْرٍ وَأُمُّهُ بُكَيْرُةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ شَهِدَ حُنَيْنًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the example of a servant when he is afflicted with adversity or fever is like a piece of iron that is put into the fire; its impurities are removed and its goodness remains." Al-Dhahabi did not comment on it in the summary.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْعَبْدِ حِينَ يُصِيبُهُ الْوَعْكُ أَوِ الْحُمَّى كَمَثَلِ حَدِيدَةٍ أُدْخِلَتِ النَّارَ فَيَذْهَبُ خَبَثُهَا وَيَبْقَى طِيبُهَا» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
27.163 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Abdullah ibn Adi ibn Al-Hamra Al-Thaqafi.
٢٧۔١٦٣ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْحَمْرَاءِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "And Abdullah bin Adi bin Al-Hamra bin Rabia bin Abi Amro bin Ahayb bin Ilaaj bin Abdullah Az-Za'ira, and his mother is the daughter of Shareeq bin Amro bin Ahayb, the sister of Akhnas bin Shareeq."
«وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْحَمْرَاءِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ عِلَاجِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى وَأُمُّهُ بِنْتُ شَرِيقِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَهْيَبَ أُخْتُ الْأَخْنَسِ بْنِ شَرِيقِ»
[Machine] "And Abdullah bin Adi bin Al-Hamra As-Saqqafi, also known as Abu Amr."
«وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْحَمْرَاءِ الثَّقَفِيُّ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَمْرٍو»
[Machine] "He informed him that he heard the Prophet ﷺ while he was standing in Al-Hazwara in Mecca, saying: 'By Allah, you are the best land of Allah and the dearest land to Allah. If I had not been expelled from you, I would not have left.'"
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ بِالْحَزْوَرَةِ بِمَكَّةَ «وَاللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَخَيْرُ أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَأَحَبُّ أَرْضٍ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أُخْرِجْتُ مِنْكِ مَا خَرَجْتُ»

٢٧۔١٦٤ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ الْفِهْرِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] "And Abu Abdur-Rahman, Habib ibn Muslima ibn Malik ibn Wahb ibn Tha'labah ibn Wathilah ibn Amr ibn Sinan al-Fihri."
«وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَبِيبُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْفِهْرِيُّ»
[Machine] I heard Habib ibn Muslimah saying, "I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing the voluntary prayer of Witr."
سَمِعْتُ حَبِيبَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ يَقُولُ «شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَفَّلَ الثُّلُثَ»
27.165 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Abu Rifaa'ah Abdullah ibn Al-Harith Al-Adawi
٢٧۔١٦٥ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ أَبِي رِفَاعَةَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْعَدَوِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] When Abdul Rahman ibn Samura ibn Habib opened Sistan, he was accompanied by Abu Rifa'a Abdullah ibn Al-Harith ibn Asad ibn Adi ibn Malik ibn Tameem ibn Adi ibn Abdul Manat ibn Udd ibn Tabikha. He had companions with him. He marched with the army, and when night came, he stood up to pray, then lay down at the end of the night. His companions forgot about him, and a group of the enemy came and killed him.
لَمَّا افْتَتَحَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ بْنَ حَبِيبٍ سِجِسْتَانَ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ أَبُو رِفَاعَةَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ تَمِيمِ بْنِ الدؤلِ بْنِ جَبَلِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ بْنِ أُدِّ بْنِ طَابِخَةَ وَلَهُ صُحْبَةٌ «فَسَارَ فِي الْجَيْشِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي اللَّيْلِ قَامَ يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ رَقَدَ فِي آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ وَنَسِيَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ فَأَتَاهُ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْعَدُوِّ فَذَبَحُوهُ»

٢٧۔١٦٦ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْقُرَشِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] He heard from him Abdullah bin Ubaidullah bin Abi Muleikah.
سَمِعَ مِنْهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ»
[Machine] He got married to Umm Yahya, the daughter of Abi Ihab. Umm Thawiba, his mother, came and said, "I breastfed both of you." So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that, along with the rest of the conversation.
أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّهُ ثُوَيْبَةُ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ وَذَكَرَ بَاقِيَ الْحَدِيثِ
27.167 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Muhammad bin Muslimah al-Ansari.
٢٧۔١٦٧ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ
[Machine] Regarding the narration of 'Urwah about the naming of those who participated in the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Banu Za'urah bin 'Abdul Ashhal, Muhammad bin Muslimah bin Khalid bin 'Adiy bin Mujadda'ah bin Harithah bin Al-Harith.
عَنْ عُرْوَةَ فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ بَنِي زَعُورَاءَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ مُجَدَّعَةَ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ
عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "Muhammad ibn Maslamah al-Ansari died in the year forty-three."
«مَاتَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»
[Machine] "Muhammad ibn Maslamah died in the city in the year forty-six. At that time, he was seventy-seven years old and was tall and bald."
«مَاتَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ سَنَةَ سِتٍّ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ابْنُ سَبْعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ طَوِيلًا أَصْلَعَ»
[Machine] "I will not settle in Egypt until this turmoil is resolved among the Muslim community."
لَا أَسْتَقِرُّ بِمِصْرَ مِنْ أَمْصَارِهِمْ حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ هَذِهِ الْفِتْنَةُ عَنْ جَمَاعَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَصحيح
[Machine] "We do not include any evil from their territories until the matter is clarified as it has been clarified. This is a great virtue with a strong chain of narration."
لَا نَشْتَمِلُ عَلَى سَيِّءٍ مِنْ أَمْصَارِهِمْ حَتَّى يَنْجَلِيَ الْأَمْرُ عَنْ مَا انْجَلَى «هَذِهِ فَضِيلَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ»
[Machine] I was sitting with Muhammad ibn Muslama, when the daughter of Dahak ibn Khalifa passed by. Muhammad began to look at her intently, so I said, "Glory be to Allah! You are the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and yet you do this?!" He replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'If Allah places the speech of a woman in a man's heart, it is not a sin for him to look at her.'"
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ فَمَرَّتِ ابْنَةُ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ فَجَعَلَ يُطَارِدُهَا بِبَصَرِهِ فَقُلْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ تَفْعَلُ هَذَا وَأَنْتَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا أَلْقَى اللَّهُ خِطْبَةَ امْرَأَةٍ فِي قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ فَلَا بَأْسَ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ, when he looked at them, said, "The faces have succeeded." It has a sound chain of narration, and it was not narrated by two sound narrators.
النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ «أَفْلَحَتِ الْوُجُوهُ» صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, it is narrated that he went out to Ghatafan and said, "Who is with the son of Al-Asraf? He has harmed Allah and His Messenger." Muhammad bin Maslamah Al-Harithi said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you want me to kill him?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a while and then said, "Go to Sa'd bin Mu'adh and consult him." So, I went to Sa'd bin Mu'adh and mentioned the matter to him. He said, "Go on the guidance of Allah, and take with you the son of my brother Harith bin Aws, and Ubada bin Bishr Al-Ashhali, and Abu 'Abs bin Jabr Al-Harithi, and Abi Nailan Salkan bin Qays Al-Ashhali." So, I met them and told them the story. They all came with me except Salkan, and he said, "O nephew, I trust you, but I do not want to do anything until I consult the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So, I told the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he said, "Go with your companions." We went to him at night, and we found him in a fortress. 'Abbad bin Bishr recited a poem describing their killing and capturing, and he said, "I shouted to him, but he did not respond to my voice. Then, a person came down from above the wall, and I returned to him. He asked, "Who is calling?" I said, "Your brother 'Abbad bin Bishr, and here is our shield as a pledge for two months or a half. They have taken them for two months and have never been deprived of luxury without poverty." Then, he came towards us swiftly and said, "You have come for a matter, and in our oaths, we have white iron and black iron by which we punish and destroy. I said to my companion when the swords began to flash, "This is a false kill!" And Ibn Maslamah Al-Muradi attacked him, screaming at him like a lion on the prey. Abu 'Abs bin Jabr tightened his sword on him, and Abu 'Abis bin Jabr struck him with his sword, and Allah was our support and ally, bestowing upon us His favor and granting us victory. A group of generous people joined us, and a Hud came to them with truth and righteousness."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَيَخْرُجُ فِي غَطَفَانَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ لِي بِابْنِ الْأَشْرَفِ؟ فَقَدْ آذَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ؟» فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْحَارِثِيُّ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتُحِبُّ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ؟ فَصَمَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ائْتِ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ فَاسْتَشِرْهُ» قَالَ فَجِئْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ امْضِ عَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ وَاذْهَبْ مَعَكَ بِابْنِ أَخِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ وَبِعَبَّادِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ الْأَشْهَلِيِّ وَبِأَبِي عَبْسِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ الْحَارِثِيِّ وَبِأَبِي نَائِلٍ سِلْكَانَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْأَشْهَلِيِّ قَالَ فَلَقِيَتْهُمْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ فَجَاءُونِي كُلُّهُمْ إِلَّا سِلْكَانَ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَنْتَ عِنْدِي مُصَدَّقٌ وَلَكِنْ لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا حَتَّى أُشَافِهَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «امْضِ مَعَ أَصْحَابِكَ» قَالَ فَخَرَجْنَا إِلَيْهِ لَيْلًا حَتَّى جِئْنَاهُ فِي حِصْنٍ فَقَالَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ فِي ذَلِكَ شِعْرًا شَرَحَ فِي شِعْرٍ قَتْلَهُمْ وَمَذْهَبِهِمْ فَقَالَ [البحر الوافر] صَرَخْتُ بِهِ فَلَمْ يَعْرِضْ لِصَوْتِي وَوَافَى طَالِعًا مِنْ فَوْقِ جَدْرِ فَعُدْتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَنِ الْمُنَادِي؟ فَقُلْتُ أَخُوكَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ وَهَذِي دَرْعُنَا رَهْنًا فَخُذْهَا لَشْهَرَيْنِ وَفَى أَوْ نِصْفِ شَهْرِ فَقَالَ مَعَاشِرٌ سَغِبُوا وَجَاعُوا وَمَا عُدِمُوا الْغِنَى مِنْ غَيْرِ فَقْرِ فَأَقْبَلَ نَحْوَنَا يَهْوِي سَرِيعًا وَقَالَ لَنَا لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ لِأَمْرِ وَفِي أَيْمَانِنَا بِيضٌ حِدَادٌ مُجَرَّبَةٌ بِهَا نَكْوِي وَنَفْرِي فَقُلْتُ لِصَاحِبِي لَمَّا بَدَانِي تُبَادِرُهُ السُّيُوفُ كَذَبْحِ عَيْرِ وَعَانَقَهُ ابْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْمُرَادِيُّ يَصِيحُ عَلَيْهِ كَاللَّيْثِ الْهِزْبَرِ وَشَدَّ بِسَيْفِهِ صَلْتًا عَلَيْهِ فَقَطَّرَهُ أَبُو عَبْسِ بْنُ جَبْرِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَادِسَنَا وَلِيًّا بِأَنْعَمِ نِعْمَةٍ وَأَعَزِّ نَصْرِ وَجَاءَ بِرَأْسِهِ نَفَرٌ كِرَامٌ أَتَاهُمْ هُودُ مِنْ صِدْقٍ وَبِرِّسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "To strike with this upon what is in this," Muhammad ibn Muslimah said to him, "Sit down, for we have struck with this upon what is in this before you were born." He continued to speak to him until he returned, "With a sound chain of narration according to the conditions of the two famous sheikhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) and they did not exclude it." According to the condition of Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
أَنْ نَضْرِبَ بِهَذَا عَلَى مَا فِي هَذَا فَقَالَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ «اجْلِسْ فَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا بِهَذَا عَلَى مَا فِي هَذَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تُولَدَ» فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُكَلِّمُهُ حَتَّى رَجَعَ «صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will deal with this wicked person?" Muhammad ibn Maslamah said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go to him, O Allah, assist him." So Muhammad ibn Maslamah stood up. Jabir said, "By Allah, I have never witnessed a fight between two men like I witnessed between them. When one of them approached the other, a tree came between them. One of them sought refuge behind it from his companion. When he hid behind it with something, his companion found what was behind it until he reached him. They kept maneuvering their swords. Muhammad ibn Maslamah struck him with his sword, and it penetrated him. However, Marhab was unable to remove his sword. Muhammad hit him and killed him."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ لِهَذَا الْخَبِيثِ مَرْحَبٍ؟» فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ «قُمْ إِلَيْهِ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنْهُ» فَقَامَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ قَالَ جَابِرٌ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ حَرْبًا بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ شَهِدْتُهُ مِثْلَهُمَا لَمَّا دَنَا أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ وَقَعَتْ بَيْنَهُمَا شَجَرَةٌ فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَلُوذُ بِهِ مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ فَإِذَا اسْتَتَرَ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ وَجَدَ صَاحِبَهُ مَا يَلِيهِ مِنْهَا حَتَّى يَخْلُصَ إِلَيْهِ فَمَا زَالَا يَتَحَرَّفَانِهِ بِأَسْيَافِهِمَا فَضَرَبَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ سَيْفَهُ بِالدَّرَقَةِ فَوَقَعَ فِيهَا سَيْفًهُ وَلَمْ يَقْدِرْ مَرْحَبٌ أَنْ يَنْزِعَ سَيْفَهُ فَضَرَبَهُ مُحَمَّدٌ فَقَتَلَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said when he arrived at Khaybar: "Tomorrow, I will give the flag to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he loves Allah and His Messenger." When the next day came, a group of his companions competed for it. He called upon Ali, who had an eye infection, and put saliva in his eyes, then gave him the flag while the people stood up with him. They encountered the people of Khaybar, and whenever he entered a battle, he would recite, "By the sea complied with its limit; indeed, Khaybar knew that I am Harb, the brave champion, when swords are ready to burn, sometimes I stab, and sometimes I strike." He fought with Ali, and they both struck each other twice. Ali struck him on the head until the sword bit into it with its teeth, and the people of the army heard the sound of his strike, so they killed him. He was not the last of the people who were defeated, as the first of them doors were opened, and he said, "This is a major gate that I have brought out among the gates."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَمَّا نَزَلَ بِحَضْرَةِ خَيْبَرَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ اللِّوَاءَ غَدًا رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ تَطَاوَلَ لَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ «فَدَعَا عَلِيًّا وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَتَفَلَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ وَأَعْطَاهُ اللِّوَاءَ وَنَهَضَ مَعَهُ النَّاسُ» فَلَقُوا أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ فَإِذَا مَرْحَبٌ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ يَرْتَجِزُ وَإِذَا هُوَ يَقُولُ [البحر الرجز] قَدْ عَلِمَتْ خَيْبَرُ أَنِّي مَرْحَبٌ شَاكِي السِّلَاحِ بَطَلٌ مُجَرَّبُ إِذَا السُّيُوفُ أَقْبَلَتْ تَلَهَّبُ أَطْعَنُ أَحْيَانًا وَحِينًا أَضْرِبُ فَاخْتَلَفَ هُوَ وَعَلِيٌّ بِضَرْبَتَيْنِ فَضَرَبَهُ عَلِيٌّ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ حَتَّى عَضَّ السَّيْفُ بِأَضْرَاسِهِ وَسَمِعَ أَهْلُ الْعَسْكَرِ صَوْتَ ضَرَبْتِهِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَمَا أَتَى آخِرُ النَّاسِ حَتَّى فُتِحَ لِأَوَّلِهِمْ «هَذَا بَابٌ كَبِيرٌ قَدْ خَرَّجْتُهُ فِي الْأَبْوَابِ»
27.168 [Machine] The virtues of Sa'id bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nu'ayl, the tenth of the ten.
٢٧۔١٦٨ ذِكْرُ مَنَاقِبِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ عَاشِرِ الْعَشَرَةِ ؓ
[Machine] “Amr ibn Nufayl and Al-Khattab ibn Nufayl are the two brothers of the father of Umar.”
«أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ نُفَيْلٍ وَالْخَطَّابَ بْنَ نُفَيْلٍ وَالِدُ عُمَرَ أَخَوَانِ لِأَبٍ»
[Machine] Sa'id ibn Zaid ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl came from Sham after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke to him and shot an arrow for him. He said, "And what is my reward, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "And your reward is [to be] with me."
سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ قَدِمَ مِنَ الشَّامِ بَعْدَمَا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ بَدْرٍ فَكَلَّمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ لَهُ بِسَهْمِهِ قَالَ وَأَجْرِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ وَأَجْرُكَ
[Machine] About Ibn Ishaq's narration about the name of the person who witnessed the Battle of Badr among the Muslims with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, from the Bani Adi bin Ka'b bin Fahr bin Malik, he said, "Sa'id bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufayl bin Abd al-Uzza bin Rabah bin Qurt bin Raza bin Adi bin Ka'b bin Lu'ay bin Ghalib bin Fahr bin Malik and his mother was Fatimah bint Bajjah from the tribe of Khuzay'ah."
عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ «وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ رَبَاحِ بْنِ قُرْطِ بْنِ رَزَاحِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَأُمُّهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ بَعْجَةَ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ»
[Machine] "That Sa'id son of Zaid son of 'Amr son of Nufayl is known as Abu al-A'war."
«أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ يُكَنَّى أَبَا الْأَعْوَرٍ»
[Machine] "Sa'id ibn Zaid ibn Amr ibn Nufayl had long curly hair and he was known by the nickname Abu al-A'war."
«كَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ أَدَمَ طُوَالًا أَشْعَرَ وَكَانَ يُكَنَّى أَبَا الْأَعْوَرِ»

[Machine] It was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that a nation would be raised for five years. It is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sa'id ibn Zaid ibn 'Amr will embrace Islam before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enters the house of Al-Arqam and before he calls people to Islam." Sa'id ibn Zaid witnessed the battles of Uhud, Al-Khandaq (the Trench), and all the other scenes with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , but he did not witness the Battle of Badr.
أَنْ يُوحَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِخَمْسِ سِنِينَ فَرُوِيَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يُبْعَثُ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَسْلَمَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَارَ الْأَرْقَمِ وَقَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ فِيهَا النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَشَهِدَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أُحُدًا وَالْخَنْدَقَ وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَشْهَدْ بَدْرًا
[Machine] That Saad bin Abi Waqqas washed Sa'eed bin Zaid with a tree.
«أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ غَسَّلَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ بِالشَّجَرَةِ»
