27. Book of the Companions (11/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
[Machine] "The first flag pledged in Islam was by Abdullah ibn Jash."
27.38 [Machine] The Mention of the Virtues of Mus'ab al-Khair, He is the Son of Umair ibn Hashim and He was Martyred on the Day of Uhud.
[Machine] Mus'ab ibn Umair was a young man from Makkah, known for his beauty and attractiveness. His parents loved him dearly, and his mother would dress him in the finest and most delicate clothes. He was the most fragrant among the people of Makkah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would mention him and say, "I have not seen anyone in Makkah more beautiful, adorned, or blessed than Mus'ab ibn Umair." Al-Dhahabi did not provide any further summary.
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his work on the day of Uhud, he passed by Mu'adh ibn Jabal, a martyr from the Ansar, on his way. He recited the verse, "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah" [Surah Al-Ahzab 33:23].
27.39 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Saad ibn Al-Rabi ibn Amr Al-Khazraji Al-Aqabi, one of the twelve exclusive chieftains, who was a scribe and witnessed the Battle of Badr and was killed on the day of Uhud.
[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me on the day of Uhud to look for Sa'd ibn ar-Rabi' and he said to me, "If you see him, give him my greetings and tell him that the messenger of Allah asks: How do you find yourself?" So I circled among the martyrs and found him in his last breath, with seventy strikes on him, including thrusts with a spear, strikes with a sword, and arrows shot at him. I said to him, "O Sa'd, the messenger of Allah sends his greetings to you and asks: Inform me of your condition." He replied, "May peace be upon the messenger of Allah and upon you. Tell him, O messenger of Allah, I find myself smelling the scent of Paradise. And tell my people, the Ansar, that they have no excuse before Allah if they do not strive to join the messenger of Allah, while you have a leader among you." And then his soul departed, may Allah have mercy upon him.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will tell me what Saad bin Rabi'a did?" He mentioned the story in a similar way and said, "Saad informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I am among the deceased and I send my greetings to him and tell him that Saad says, 'May Allah reward you on behalf of us and all of the Ummah.'"
27.40 [Machine] The virtues of Yemen bin Jabir, the father of Hudhaifah bin Yemen, and he is one of those who witnessed the Battle of Uhud.
[Machine] We witnessed Badr, except that my father and I wanted to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so the polytheists of Quraysh attacked us and said, "You want Muhammad!" We replied, "We don't want him, we only want to go to Medina." They made us swear by Allah and make a covenant that we would go back to Medina and not fight with Muhammad ﷺ . When we passed by them, we went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what they had said and what we had said. What is your opinion? He said, "We seek Allah's help against them and nullify their covenant." Then we headed towards Medina. That is what prevented us from witnessing the Battle of Badr.
[Machine] When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went out to Uhud, Yemen bin Jabir, the father of Hudhaifa, and Thabit bin Waqsh bin Za'ura fell behind with the women and children. One of them said to his companion, who were both elderly men: "Why are we waiting? By Allah, there is not much time left in our lives except for the thirst of a donkey. We are the bravest of the people. Let us take our swords and catch up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So they entered among the Muslims without anyone knowing them. As for Thabit bin Waqsh, the polytheists killed him, and as for Hudhaifa's father, the Muslim swords clashed with him, not recognizing him. Hudhaifa said, "My father, my father." They replied, "By Allah, we did not know it was him." Hudhaifa said, "May Allah forgive you, for He is the most merciful of the merciful." The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ intended to reward Hudhaifa for this, so he gave him what he wanted, and this pleased the Prophet ﷺ .
27.41 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram bin Tha'laba bin Haram bin Ka'b bin Ghanm bin Ka'b bin Salama
[Machine] His name was Abu Jabir, and he was the father of Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Sulami Al-Ansari, and one of the distinguished companions who pledged allegiance on the night of Al-Aqaba. He was the first Muslim martyr killed on the day of Uhud. He was killed by Sufyan ibn Abd Shams Abul-A'war Al-Sulami. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for him before the defeat. Abu Abdullah Al-Asbahani informed me about all that I mentioned, narrated by Al-Hasan ibn Al-Jahm, narrated by Al-Hussein ibn Al-Faraj, narrated by Muhammad ibn Umar from his sheikhs.
[Machine] My father woke up, by Allah, on the day of Uhud drunk, then he fought until he was martyred with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Uhud.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Jabir, "O Jabir, shall I not give you glad tidings?" He said, "Yes, give me glad tidings. May Allah bless you with goodness." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Did you not feel that Allah, the Almighty, has revived your father and made him sit before Him?" He said, "Yes, my Lord, I wish for whatever You will give me." He said, "O Lord, I have not worshiped You as You deserve to be worshiped. Do You wish to return me to the worldly life so that I may be killed again along with the Prophet ﷺ ?" He said, "You have gained precedence over me. Indeed, you will return to it and you will not be sent back from it."
[Machine] "My son, I do not know if I will be one of the first to be affected tomorrow, which is Sunday. I advise you to take care of Abdullah's daughters well." So, they met and that day happened."
[Machine] When the Battle of Uhud occurred, my father called me in the night and said, "I can only see myself being killed in the first of those who are killed from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . By Allah, I have never favored anyone over you after the Prophet's life. I have a debt, so settle my debt and take care of your sisters." Then we woke up, and he became the first martyr. I buried him with the others in a grave. But I couldn't bear to leave him with the others in the grave, so I extracted him after six months, and his body was intact, just like the day I buried him, except for his ear.
[Machine] To me, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah the Almighty does not speak to anyone except from behind a veil, and He once spoke to your father, Kifah, and he whispered to me, 'And I remembered the conversation.'"
[Machine] In Paradise, we wander however we please. I said to him, "Were you not killed on the day of Badr?" He said, "Yes, but then I was revived." He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is your testimony, O Abu Jabir."
27.42 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Hanthala ibn Abdullah and the kunya of Abdullah, Abu Aamir ibn Abd 'Amr al-Ansari, who was washed by the angels.
[Machine] "It caught up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , its chain is weak."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say when Hanzala ibn Abi 'Amir was killed after he met with Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith, and then Shaddad ibn al-Aswad killed him with a sword, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the angels are washing your companion." They asked his wife, and she said, "He went out when he heard the calling and he was in a state of sexual impurity. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'That is why the angels washed him.'"
[Machine] Yes, because I saw his father on the day of Uhud he was unsheathing his sword just like a camel unsheathes. Al-Dhahabi removed it due to its weakness from the summary.

27.44 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Saad Ibn Muadh Ibn Nu'man Ibn Amr Al-Qais Ibn Zaid Ibn Abdul-Ashhal Al-Khazraji Al-Ansari
[Machine] Sad (name of a person) was a man whom Allah made his face shine in the fire, then Sad lived after being struck by an arrow for about a month until he ruled over the tribe of Qurayzah by the order of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He then returned to the city of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but his speech erupted and he died during the night. Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him, "Who is the one for whom the doors of heaven have been opened and the throne of the Most Merciful has shaken?" So the Prophet ﷺ went out to Sad and found that he had died. Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about him in the summary.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The throne trembled for the death of Saad ibn Muadh."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Saad as he was being buried, "Verily, the Throne moved for this righteous servant and the gates of heaven were opened for him." (Authentic)
[Machine] Shook by the love for meeting Allah, the Throne implies the bed. He said, "And his parents were raised onto the Throne. Its wood was decayed." He said, "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered his grave and it became narrow. When he came out, it was said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what confined you?' He said, 'Sa'd was pressed into the grave as a confinement, so I supplicated to Allah to release him.'"
[Machine] "Let not your tears flow and your sorrow depart, for verily your son is the first whom Allah will make laugh, and the Throne will shake for him." (Sahih Isnad, not mentioned in Sahih)
"When the funeral of Sa'd bin Mu'adh was carried, the hypocrites said: 'How light his funeral is.' And this was due to his judgment concerning Banu Quraizah. So this reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Indeed, the angels were carrying him.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3849)
[Machine] So I said to him, "Glory be to Allah! You are one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and you have experienced something in the past that made you cry for a woman?!" He then uncovered his head and said, "You are right, by the oath of Allah. I have the right not to cry for anyone after the death of Saad bin Muadh, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stated something that no one else has ever said. She asked him, "And what did he say?" He replied, "He said, 'The Throne of Allah shook at the death of Saad bin Muadh.'" She said, "And he (Saad bin Muadh) used to walk between me and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Throne of the Most Merciful shook for the death of Saad ibn Muadh." A man said to Jabir, "But Al-Bara says, 'The bed shook'." Jabir replied, "Between these two pillars, Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj, there were strong vibrations." I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Throne of the Most Merciful shook for the death of Saad ibn Muadh."

[Machine] Haritha, my cousin's son, departed on the day of Badr wearing armor to engage in battle. He was struck by an arrow and killed. My aunt came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my son Haritha, if he is in paradise, I will have patience and hope for reward. Otherwise, you will see what I will do." The Messenger of Allah replied, "O mother of Haritha, there are many gardens in paradise, and Haritha is in the highest level of paradise, Al-Firdaus."

[Machine] Ja'far ibn Abi Talib struck a man from the Romans and cut him into two halves. One of his halves fell into a vineyard. In his half, thirty or thirty-one wounds were found. Ja'far migrated to the land of Abyssinia in the second migration, and with him was his wife Asma bint Umais. He remained in the land of Abyssinia until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ migrated to Al-Madinah. Then Ja'far migrated to Al-Madinah and he was in Khaybar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I don't know which of the two events to be more joyful about, the conquest of Khaybar or the arrival of Ja'far." He said, "Ja'far was called Abu Abdullah."

[Machine] My father, who breastfed me from the Banu Murrah tribe, informed me, "It is as if I am seeing Ja'far ibn Abi Talib on the day of the Battle of Mu'tah. He dismounted from his horse, looked back at it, and then fought until he was killed."

He signaled with his hand and said, "O Asma, this is Ja'far ibn Abi Talib with Jibril (Gabriel) and Mikail (Michael), who greeted us. So return the greeting to them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed me that he had encountered the polytheists on a certain day before his arrival. He said, "I met the polytheists and was injured in my body with seventy-three wounds from stabbing and throwing. I took the banner in my right hand and it was cut off. Then I took it with my left hand and it was also cut off. Allah compensated me by giving me wings with which I fly in Paradise along with Jibril and Mikail (peace be upon them). I eat from its fruits whatever I wish." Asma said, "Congratulations to Ja'far for what Allah has blessed him with." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and informed the people about it. He said, "After that, no one in the world knew what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had informed them, so Ja'far al-Tayyar (the flyer) was named."

27.47 [Machine] The mention of the virtues of Zaid al-Habb ibn Haritha ibn Sharahil ibn Abdul-Uzza.
[Machine] The translation of the provided Arabic text into English is:
The love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captivated the Banu Qayn tribe. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid bought him with four hundred dirhams. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her, she gifted him to him.
[Machine] What we have is better for them, so they agreed until they carried Jabalah and Asma and left Zaid. Then a group of horses from Tihamah, from the Banu Fazara, attacked Tayyi and captured Zaid, and they took him to the market of Ukaz. The Prophet ﷺ saw him before he was sent and said to Khadijah, "O Khadijah, I saw a boy in the market with qualities like Kit and Kait; he has intelligence, good manners, and beauty. If I had wealth, I would buy him." So Khadijah commanded Waraqah bin Nawfal to buy him from her wealth. She said, "O Muhammad, give me this boy as a gift from yourself." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Khadijah, I only want to adopt him." She agreed, and she raised and adopted him. He was called Zaid bin Muhammad. Then a man from the tribe of Hayy saw Zaid and recognized him, and he said, "Are you Zaid bin Harithah?" Zaid said, "No, I am Zaid bin Muhammad." The man said, "No, you are Zaid bin Harithah, from the lineage of your father and your uncles, Kit and Kait. They have exhausted themselves and spent their wealth for your sake." Then Zaid recited a poem expressing his love for his people. Harithah wept and did not know what to do, whether Zaid was still alive or not. Oh, by Allah, I do not know, but I ask, O Sahl, is the plain easier for you or the mountain? Oh, I wish I knew if you would return to me one day. My sorrow for you is so long, and I wonder, will you ever come back to me? I will strive and never tire of walking the mountains, and I will not tire of making tawaf or the camels. Perhaps death will visit me before you do. Every soul will taste death, so may Allah bless me with a good family and a prosperous offspring. Harithah came to him when he was with his brothers and family in Makkah. He went to the Prophet ﷺ and found him sitting in the courtyard of the Kaaba with a group of his companions, including Zaid bin Harithah. When they saw Zaid, they recognized him, and he recognized them. However, they did not rise in reverence for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said, "O Zaid!" But he did not respond. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Who are these, O Zaid?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah, this is my father, my uncle, my brother, and these are my relatives." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Go and greet them, O Zaid." So Zaid stood and greeted them, and they greeted him. Then they said to him, "Come with us, O Zaid." He replied, "I only desire the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; I do not desire anyone else in return." They said, "O Muhammad, we will give you this boy as compensation, so name your price." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I ask you to bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the final Prophet and Messenger, and that you accept Islam. They agreed and accepted Islam. Then they said, "What

[Machine] Harithah ibn Sharahil was crying over the loss of his son Zaid, and he said, "I cried over Zaid, but I do not know what happened to him." Then he recited the long poem, which was omitted by Al-Dhahabi in his summary due to its weakness.

[Machine] I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, send my brother Zaid with me." He said, "He is here. If he wishes, I will not prevent him." Zaid then said, "No, by Allah, I will not choose anyone over you." Jabalah said, "I said, 'Indeed, my brother's opinion is better than mine,' (this hadith is authentic with an unbroken chain of narrators and it is a witness to the previous narration)."
[Machine] About Ibn Ishaq, "Among those who participated in the Battle of Badr with the Prophet peace be upon him was Zaid ibn Harithah ibn Sharahil Al-Kalbi, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him." Al-Dhahabi excluded this from the summary.
