27. Book of the Companions (42/53)
[Machine] As for the two sheikhs, they did not mention anything beyond the virtues. We have started in the first mention of the companion by discussing his lineage and death, then we mentioned what is valid about their conditions from their virtues that they did not mention. So I did not forget to mention Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi and his peers in knowledge.
[Machine] When Anas entered upon Al-Hajjaj, he commanded his head to be brought and then said, "O people of Sham, do you recognize this? This is the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Then he said, "Do you know why I brought his head?" They said, "The prince knows." He said, "Indeed, he endured afflictions in the first turmoil and hid his feelings in the last turmoil." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
[Machine] Abdul Malik, write to Al-Hajjaj, "O boy!" So he wrote to him, "Woe to you! I feared that no one would be able to fix things in your hands. So when my letter reaches you, go quickly to apologize to Anas ibn Malik."
[Machine] Anas said, "O Abu Muhammad, take from me, for I have taken from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has taken from Allah, the Almighty. And you will not take from anybody who is more credible than me."
[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and whenever he spoke about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he would say, or as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
[Machine] I asked Musa ibn Anas, "How many battles did the Prophet ﷺ participate in?" He replied, "He fought in twenty-three battles and led eight expeditions where the months were settled." Then I asked, "How many battles did Anas participate in with the Prophet ﷺ ?" He replied, "He took part in eight battles."
[Machine] "From the Messenger of Allah, may peace be upon him, a man said: 'Did you hear it from the Messenger of Allah, may peace be upon him?' He became extremely angry and said: 'By Allah, not everything we tell you did we hear from the Messenger of Allah, may peace be upon him. Rather, some of us would inform others and would not accuse one another.'"
27.253 [Machine] Mentioning the knowledge of a group of the companions and what has reached us from their virtues, mentioning them has been delayed compared to others, as well as the knowledge of their birth and times of their death
27.254 [Machine] Hamal bin Malik bin al-Nabighah al-Hudhali
[Machine] "Hamal bin Malik bin Al-Nabighah bin Jabir bin Ubaid bin Rabia bin Kaab bin Al-Harith bin Kathir bin Hind bin Tabikha bin Lihiyan bin Huthayl Al-Hudhali has a house in Basra."
[Machine] "Allah's Messenger ﷺ decreed in the case of a fetus, and then Hamal ibn Malik ibn al-Nabighah al-Hudhali stood up and said, 'O Amir al-Mu'minin, I was between two women, meaning two slave-girls of mine, and I came out and one of them struck the other with a piece of wood and killed her, and she also killed what was in her womb.' So the Prophet ﷺ passed judgment regarding the fetus of a slave or a slave-girl. 'Umar said, 'Allah is the Greatest, had we not heard about this, we would have decided differently.'"
27.255 [Machine] Mention of Aqeel ibn Abi Talib
[Machine] And it was his right and honor that his mention be close to his brothers and relatives, but it was delayed due to the scarcity of his narrations and mention in the books of the Imams.
[Machine] Abu Talib had three sons: Aqeel, Ja'far, and Ali. Each one of them was ten years older than his companion in loyalty.
[Machine] Aqeel ibn Abi Talib came to Kufa, Basra, and Sham, and he died during the caliphate of Muawiyah.
[Machine] That the Quraysh faced severe crises and Abu Talib had many dependents. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his uncle Abbas, who belonged to the lesser branch of the Hashemite clan, "O Abu al-Fadl, your brother Abu Talib has many dependents and the people are suffering from what you see from this crisis. So come with me to him and we will relieve him of some of his dependents. You take one of his sons and I will take one, and we will take care of them on his behalf." Abbas agreed, so they went until they reached Abu Talib and said to him, "We want to relieve you of some of your dependents so that the people may see what they are going through." Abu Talib replied, "If you leave me Aqeel, then do as you please." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took Ali and held him close to himself, and Abbas took Ja'far and held him close to himself. Ali remained with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until Allah made him a prophet and he followed him and believed in him. Abbas took Ja'far and Ja'far remained with Abbas until he embraced Islam and became independent.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Aqil ibn Abi Talib, 'O Abu Yazid, Indeed, I love you with two loves: a love for your kinship with me and a love for the knowledge I had of the love of my uncle for you.' Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say to Ali, "Verily, I love you, O Ali, with two kinds of love: love for you and love for the love of my father, Abu Talib. Beware of that." This statement is found in the hadith.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out of a house with his uncles Abbas, Hamza, Ali, Ja'far, and Uqail. They were working in a land. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his uncles, "Choose from among them." One of them said, "I choose Ja'far," and the other said, "I choose Ali." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You both have made a good choice, so I choose Ali."
[Machine] Talha is a small sapling that grew due to the intensity of the heat. Because of the scorching heat of the summer, he started looking for shade and walking in it. So we approached him and Abu Talib said, "Your cousins claim that you harm them in their gatherings and councils, so refrain from that." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ lifted his eyes to the sky and said, "What do you see from this sun?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "I am not able to leave that from you, so that you may be occupied with it." Abu Talib said, "We have never lied about my nephew before, so go back."
[Machine] Rather say: "May Allah bless you and bless upon you."
27.256 [Machine] The mention of Maqil ibn Yasār al-Muzani
[Machine] "Ma'qil ibn Yasār ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Haraq ibn Lu'ayy ibn Ka'ab ibn 'Abd ibn Thawr ibn Hadmata ibn Lātim ibn 'Uthmān ibn 'Amr ibn Add ibn Ṭābikhah, known as Aba 'Ali, had a position in Basra. Ma'qil ibn Yasār died during the rule of Ibn Ziyad in the year fifty-eight."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to judge between my people, so I said, "How can I judge them well?" He said, "Just make a decision between them." So I asked, "How can I make a fair decision?" He said, "Just judge between them, for indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is with the judge as long as he does not commit injustice intentionally." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Follow the Book of Allah and do not lie about anything from it. If you are uncertain about something, ask the people of knowledge, as they will inform you. Believe in the Torah, the Injeel (Gospel), and believe in the Criterion (Quran) for it contains clarification. It is the intercessor, and it is the one that will be pleaded with, and it is the one that will debate, and it is the one that will be summoned." Al-Dhahabi did not mention this in his summary.
[Machine] "O commander of the faithful, Asbahan has been hit on the head."
27.257 [Machine] The Mention of Abdullah ibn Mughaffal al-Muzani

[Machine] "And Abdullah ibn Mughaffal al-Muzani is known as Abu Sa'id. He mentioned this lineage and added to it that his mother is al-Attilah bint Muawiyah ibn Qurrah ibn Muzaynah, and he has a house in Basra in the presence of the mosque."
[Machine] "If I die, then add camphor to my last washing and wrap me in two shrouds and a shirt, for the Prophet ﷺ did the same." (Al-Dhahabi did not mention this in his summary.)

27.258 [Machine] Mention of Ka'b and Bujair sons of Zuhair
[Machine] "Wa Ka'ab ibn Zuhayr and Bujayr ibn Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma, and the name of Abi Sulma is Rabi'ah ibn Rabah ibn Qurt ibn al-Harith ibn Qatadah ibn Halaawah ibn Tha'labah ibn Thawr ibn Hadmata ibn Latim ibn Uthman ibn Amr ibn Add ibn Tabikha, they came to the Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam and became his companions."

خَرَجَ كَعْبٌ وَبُجَيْرٌ ابْنَا زُهَيْرٍ حَتَّى أَتَيَا أَبْرَقَ الْعَزَّافِ فَقَالَ بُجَيْرٌ لِكَعْبٍ اثْبُتْ فِي عَجَلِ هَذَا الْمَكَانَ حَتَّى آتِيَ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ [Machine] Ka'b ibn Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma recited in the Mosque: "Su'aad has appeared. My heart is today infatuated and captivated by her, never before has my love been so intensely expressed."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ recited a poem by Ka'b ibn Zuhayr that Suad was revealed in his mosque in the city of Madinah. When his words reached the part: "Indeed the Messenger is a sword that is illuminated by, and a scimitar from the swords of Allah, unsheathed in the youth of Quraysh," one of the youths from the people of Makkah who had embraced Islam [said], "They refer to the belly of Makkah when they became Muslims." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ signaled with his chin towards them so they would listen to him. And Bujayr ibn Zuhayr wrote to his brother Ka'b ibn Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma, intimidating and inviting him to Islam, and he mentioned him in verses: "Who will inform Ka'b? Do you have any criticism against the one I address, even though she is most devoted to Allah, not Al-Uzza or Al-Laat alone? So, seek salvation when the salvation is there, and submit to me on a day where no one will escape, except those with pure hearts, submitting. So the religion of Zuhayr is not invalid, and the religion of Abi Sulma is forbidden upon me."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah after leaving Ta'if, Bujair Ibn Zuhair Ibn Abi Salma wrote a letter to his brother Ka'b Ibn Zuhair Ibn Abi Salma informing him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had killed some men in Makkah who used to insult and harm him. He also mentioned that the remaining poets of Quraysh, Ibn Al-Ziba'ra and Hubayrah Ibn Abi Wahb, had fled in every direction. He advised Ka'b to seek forgiveness from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if he had any need, as the Messenger would not kill anyone who came to him repentant. If he did not do so, he should flee for his own safety. Ka'b responded to his brother's message with a poem in which he praised the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and expressed his fear for his own life. It is mentioned that Ka'b showed this poem to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and it became well-known. Ka'b then left until he reached Madinah, where he stayed with a man who had a connection with him from Juhayna tribe. The next morning, he went with this man to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was praying Fajr (before sunrise). Ka'b prayed with the people and then the man pointed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Approach him and seek his safety." The man later told Ka'b that he had approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and placed his hand in His hand, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not recognize him. Ka'b said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am Ka'b Ibn Zuhair, who has come to you seeking safety and repentance. Would you accept it from me if I bring him to you?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes." Ka'b then said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am Ka'b Ibn Zuhair."
