12. Ḥajj and ʿUmrah (16/34)
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he used to perform tawaf during Umrah until he reached the Black Stone and during Hajj until he threw the Jamrah.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed Umrah until he reached the Rukn (corner) but we didn't follow his narration because we found the Makkan scholars verifying it on the authority of Ibn Abbas. The Sheikh said that his statement is a mistake and Ibn Abi Layla is known for his frequent errors, especially when narrating from Ata. The people of narration weakened him despite his high status in jurisprudence. It has also been narrated from Al-Muthanna ibn Al-Sabbah on the authority of Ata in a Marfu' form (attributed to the Prophet). Its chain of narration is weaker than what we mentioned.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed three Umrah pilgrimages. All of this indicates that the Talbiyah (a Muslim prayer uttered during pilgrimage) should not be interrupted until the black stone is reached. It is narrated from Al-Hajjaj, from 'Ata', from Ibn Abbas, raised, and Al-Hajjaj ibn Arta'ah is not relied upon as a source. It is also narrated from Abu Bakr, raised, that he went out with him during part of his tenure and he did not interrupt the Talbiyah until he reached the black stone. And its chain of narration is weak.
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out during some of his life and I went out with him. He did not stop reciting the Talbiyah until he reached this stone. This isn't a strong chain of narration and Allah knows best."
12.181 [Machine] The singular and the paired are sufficient with one circumambulation and one Sa'y after Arafah, if they have already performed Sa'y after Tawaf al-Qudum, they limit themselves to Tawaf around the Ka'bah after Arafah and they perform the rite of Tahallul.
[Machine] With the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj, we performed Umrah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has brought a sacrificial animal should enter the state of Ihram for Hajj along with Umrah, and he should not come out of the state of Ihram until he completes both of them together." I came forward while I was menstruating and, therefore, I did not complete circumambulation of the House (Kaaba) or go between Safa and Marwa. I complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Uncover your head, comb your hair, and perform Hajj with the intention of Umrah, leaving Hajj." I acted according to his instructions. When we finished Hajj, he sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman ibn Abu Bakr to Tan'iim, and I performed Umrah. He said, "This is the place where you should complete your Umrah." Those who performed Umrah alongside with Hajj circumambulated the House and went between Safa and Marwa, then they untied their hair and completed another circumambulation after returning from Mina, whereas those who combined Hajj and Umrah performed only one circumambulation.
[Machine] The Prophet and his companions performed only one tawaf between Safa and Marwa, not more than that.
[Machine] She has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reward you with one tawaf between Safa and Marwa for your Hajj and Umrah.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to Aisha, "Your tawaf around the Kaaba and between Safa and Marwa is sufficient for your Hajj and Umrah." And with its chain of narration, Ash-Shafi'i said that Ibn Uyaynah reported from Ibn Abi Najeeh, from Ata'ah, from Aisha, from the Prophet ﷺ with a similar narration. Ash-Shafi'i said, "And perhaps Sufyan said from Ata'ah, from Aisha, and perhaps he said from Ata'ah that the Prophet ﷺ said to Aisha. The Sheikh said..."
Your circumambulation would suffice both Hajj and Umra. She, however, felt reluctant. Thereupon the Prophet ﷺ sent her with 'Abd al-Rahman to Tan'im and she performed Umra (with separate rituals) after Hajj. (Using translation from Muslim 1211x)
[Machine] He heard Jabir saying that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Aisha while she was crying, so he asked her, "Why are you crying?" She said, "I cry because people have performed Hajj and Umrah, and I have not performed Hajj or circumambulated the Kaaba. Hajj season has come." He said, "Indeed, this is a matter that Allah has ordained upon the daughters of Adam. So, perform Ghusl (ritual bath), and your family too, for Hajj, and then perform Hajj." She said, "So, I did that. When I purified myself, he said, 'Now, perform Tawaf (circumambulation) between Safa and Marwa.' After you have completed your Hajj and Umrah, she said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel that in myself regarding my Umrah that I did not do Tawaf until I performed Hajj.' He said, 'Go on, Abdur Rahman, and perform it from the provision of honey.'"
[Machine] In the Prophet's Hajj, he performed Umrah and when she was at Sarif, she experienced menstruation and this troubled her. So, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, you are just like the daughters of Adam. What afflicts them also afflicts you." When she arrived at Baha', the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded her to perform Hajj. After completing her rituals, when she reached Al-Hasba, she intended to perform Umrah. The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "You have already completed your Hajj and Umrah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a man who was easy-going. When he approved of something, he followed through with it." Matar bin Al-Zubair said that Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, would do the same when she performed Hajj.
[Machine] If there is a hindrance between me and the Kaaba, then I will do as we did with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the disbelievers of Quraysh prevented him from reaching the Kaaba, he performed the Umrah, then shaved his head and returned. And I bear witness to you all that I have obligated myself to perform Umrah, then he went out towards the tree and performed another Umrah. Until when he reached the outskirts of the desert, he said, "There is no difference between the two. If there is a hindrance between me and Umrah, then I have obligated myself to perform Hajj along with the Umrah." He said, "But on that day, there is no sacrificial animal (Hady)." So he continued until he reached Qudayd, where he bought a sacrificial animal, performed the Ihram, and performed the Tawaf around the Kaaba, Safa, and Marwa. And he used to say, "Whoever combines Hajj and Umrah, it is sufficient to perform one Tawaf, and he should not end the state of Ihram until he ends both Hajj and Umrah."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever performs both Hajj and Umrah together, they shall perform one Tawaf and one Sa'i for both. They shall continue in their state of Ihram until they are released from both. We have been narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah, from the Prophet ﷺ , that Umrah is included in Hajj until the Day of Resurrection, and it is said that it is included in some actions of Hajj, so they are combined in one action. The companion should not perform more than one Tawaf for both, and the same applies to Sa'i. They should not be restricted except with one state of Ihram. Al-Shafi'i narrated from an old man, whom I think is Ibrahim ibn Muhammad, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, who said regarding the companion: "He shall perform two Tawafs and two Sai's." Al-Shafi'i said: "This is in line with our statement, meaning that the companion performs Tawaf when he first enters the Kaaba and when he reaches Safa and Marwa, and then he performs another Tawaf for visiting the Kaaba." Some people say that he performs two Tawafs and two Sai's, and they use a weak narration from Ali and Ja'far that supports their argument. However, our statement has been narrated from the Prophet ﷺ . The Sheikh (Al-Shafi'i) said: "The most authentic narration regarding the two Tawafs is what has been narrated from Ali."
[Machine] I met Ali, and I had performed the pilgrimage, and he had also performed the pilgrimage and umrah. So I asked him, "Can I do the same as you have done?" He said, "That would have been possible if you had started with the umrah." I asked, "How can I do it then if I want to?" He said, "Take some water and pour it on yourself, then perform two circumambulations and walk between Safa and Marwah seven times. And it is not permissible for you to engage in prohibited acts until the day of sacrifice." Mansour said, "So I mentioned that to Mujahid, and he said, 'We used to only give advice regarding one circumambulation. But now, don't do it like that.'" This was narrated from Fudayl from Mansour, and Ath-Thawri also narrated it from Mansour, but he did not mention the walking between Safa and Marwah. Similarly, Shu'bah, Ibn Uyaynah, and Abu Nasr narrated this, but this is unknown. If it is correct, then it can be understood that he meant the initial circumambulation and the circumambulation of visitation, and he intended one walking between Safa and Marwah.

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Hajj. As for those who performed Umrah, they completed it. And as for those who performed Hajj or combined both Hajj and Umrah, they did not complete it until the day of sacrifice. This is the narration of Yahya bin Yahya."

12.183 [Machine] The multiplication of circumambulation around the Kaaba as long as in Mecca
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever performs Tawaf around the Kaaba seven times, counting it, for him will be written a good deed for every step he takes, and a bad deed will be erased from him, and his rank will be elevated, and he will be granted a reward equal to freeing a slave."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever performs seven circuits and prays two units of prayer after each circuit, it will be equivalent to freeing a slave. It is not mentioned in its chain of narration whether his father should be mentioned or not, and there is a difference of opinion regarding the interpretation of the hadith." Some of them mentioned it from him, while others did not mention it.
[Machine] He (the narrator) heard his father saying to Ibn 'Umar, "Why do I see you only performing these two pillars (of Hajj) and not others?" He (Ibn 'Umar) said, "If I do that, then I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, 'Indeed, performing them erases sins.'" He (the narrator) said, "And I heard him saying, 'Whoever performs Tawaf around the Ka'bah seven times and then prays two Rak'ahs, he will have the reward of setting free a slave and will have a good deed written for him, and a sin will be forgiven for him, and his rank will be elevated.' And this indicates that both the father and the son heard it (the saying) from the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "O sons of 'Abd Manaf, I do not know why you prevent a group from performing circumambulation (tawaf) around this house (the Kaaba) for an hour at night or during the day."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed Tawaf seven times, then he performed Tawaf seven more times because he loved to show his strength to the people. In another narration, it is mentioned that he performed Tawaf seven times and then performed Tawaf seven more times because he loved to see or show his strength to the people. Others have commented on this text and said that he performed Tawaf seven times around the Kaaba and seven times between Safa and Marwa, so this entrance cannot be the mentioned gate. And Allah knows best.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed Tawaf around the Kaaba for three circuits, then approached the Maqam and prayed six units of prayer behind it. He would make taslim (saying the salutation) to the right and left in every two units of prayer. Abu Hurairah said: "Al-Sughani Muhammad bin Ishaq intended to teach us, with Ahmad bin Janab reporting in his chain of narration."
[Machine] I did not misunderstand, but I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pair and I would like to pair, not with someone strong. There was permission for that with al-Miswar ibn Makhrama and Aisha, but Ibn Umar disliked that.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to address the people before the pilgrimage and inform them about their rituals.
when the Prophet came back from the Umrah of Al-Jirranah, he sent Abu Bakr to lead the Hajj. We wnet the him until, when he was in Al-Urj, the Iqamah for Subh was said, and he stood up to say the Takbir while he heard the grunting of a camel behind him, and he did not say the Takbir. He said: "This is the grunting of the camel of the Messenger of Allah has had second thoughts about the Hajj, and may be he is here, and we will pray with him." But it was 'Ali on the camel. Abu Bakr said to him: "(Have you come) as a leader or as messenger?" He said: "No, as a messenger, sent by the Messenger of Allah with a declaration of innocence to recite it to the people in the stations of Hajj. So we came to makkah and one day before the day of At-Tarwiyah Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and addressed the people telling them about their rituals. When he finished, Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and recited the declaration of innocence to the people until he finished it. Then we went out with hm and on the day of Arafat. Abu Bakr stood up and addressed people, telling them about rituals. When he finished, Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and recited the declaration of innocence to the people until he finished it. Then on the day of Sacrifice, we departed (Ifadah) and when Abu Bakr came back, eh addressed the people, telling them about their departure (Ifadah), sacrifice and rituals. When he finished, Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and recited the declaration of innocence to the people until he finished it. On the first day of An-Nafr (The 12th of Dhul-Hijjah), Abu Bakr stood up and addressed the people, telling them how to offer their sacrifice and how to stone the Jamrat, and teaching them their rituals. When he had finished, "Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and recited the declaration of innocence to the people until he finished it. (Daif) Abu Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai) said: Ibn Khuthaim is not strong in Hadith, and I only narrated this so it would not be considered to be from Ibn Juraij from Abu Az-Zubai. And we did not write it except from Ishaq bin Rahuyah bin Ibrahm. And yahya bin Saeed Al-Qattan did not abandon the narrations of Ibn Khuthaim, or dod Abdur-Rahamn. However, Ali bin Al-Madini said: "Ibn Khuthaim is Munkar in Hadith," and Ali bin Al-Madini is more knowledgeable of Hadith. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2993)

[Machine] We entered upon Jabir bin Abdullah, and he mentioned the hadith about the Prophet's ﷺ Hajj. He said, "Then the people came and performed tawaf and shortened their hair, except for the Prophet ﷺ and those who were with him as they had brought sacrificial animals with them. When the day of Tarwiyah came and they headed towards Mina, they announced the Hajj and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rode (his mount) and prayed Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr in Mina. Then he stayed for a while until the sun rose and he ordered for a dome made of hair and it was struck with a spear made of nimrah (a type of wood). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then went on, and the Quraysh did not doubt that he would remain standing near the Sacred Masjid (Kaaba) as the Quraysh used to do in the pre-Islamic era. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted them permission, until he arrived at Arafah and found that the dome had been struck with a spear made of nimrah, so he stayed in it."

A’ishah said “Quraish and those who followed their religion used to station at Al Muzdalifah and they were called Al Hums and the rest of Arabs used to station at ‘Arafah. When Islam came, Allaah the most High commanded His Prophet ﷺ to go to ‘Arafah and station there then go quickly from it. That is in accordance with the words of Him Who is exalted “Then go quickly from where the people went quickly.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1910)

[Machine] Sufyan, referring to Quraysh, which was called "Al-Hums". Quraysh did not go beyond the Haram and they would say, "We are the people of Allah, we do not leave the Haram." The rest of the people would stand at Arafah, and this is the saying of Allah, "Then depart from the place whence all the people depart" (Quran, Al-Baqarah 2:199). Sufyan Al-Ahmas Al-Shadid in his religion said, "This is the statement of Isma'ili, the narration of Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah to his saying, 'From Al-Hums, what does he have here?'"
12.189 [Machine] The Friday sermon on the day of Arafah after noon, combining the Dhuhr and Asr prayers with adhan and two iqamahs.
[Machine] We entered upon Jabir ibn Abdullah and he mentioned the narration about the Prophet's ﷺ farewell pilgrimage and his descent at Namira. He said, "When the sun started to decline, he ordered for Al-Quswa (his camel) to be saddled for him, so it was saddled for him. He rode until he reached the bottom of the valley, then he addressed the people and mentioned the same narration in his sermon as he had done previously in this narration, where we mentioned it in its context from this book. Then Bilal called the Adhan (the call to prayer), and then he established the Dhuhr prayer. Then he established the Asr prayer, and he did not offer anything between them."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went to the place of 'Arafah and delivered the first sermon to the people. Then Bilal called the adhan. Then the Prophet ﷺ began the second sermon. After completing the sermon, Bilal made the iqamah (call to establish the prayer) and the Prophet ﷺ led the Dhuhr prayer. Then Bilal made the iqamah again and the Prophet ﷺ led the Asr prayer. Sheikh Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Abi Yahya said that this detailed account is unique to Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Abi Yahya. In the hadith of Hatim bin Ismail, there is no mention that the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon before Bilal called the adhan, except that there is no mention of the Prophet ﷺ giving a second sermon. And Allah knows best.
[Machine] Salim, if you want to follow the Sunnah, then migrate (to another place) for the prayer on the day of Arafah. Ibn Umar said, "He spoke the truth, they used to combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers on the day of Arafah according to the Sunnah." Ibn Shihab said, "So I said to Salim, 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that?' Salim said, 'And do they follow anything other than his Sunnah?'"

[Machine] Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: During the Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ , he rode until he reached Al-Mawqif (the standing place), then he directed the belly of his camel towards the rocks, and placed the rope of the sheep in front of him, facing the qibla (direction of prayer). He remained standing until the sun set.

Jabir reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying “I halted here in ‘Arafah and the whole of ‘Arafah is a place of halting. I halted here in Al Muzdalifah and the whole of Al Muzdalifah is a place of halting. I sacrificed the animals here and the whole of Mina is a place of sacrifice. So sacrifice in your dwellings. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1936)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The whole of Arafah is a standing place, and rise above the bottom of Urana. And the whole of Muzdalifah is a standing place, and rise above Muhsir.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Remove the burden from the weak and make it easier for the oppressed."
