Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying “Locusts are counted along with what is caught in the sea (i.e., the game of the sea).” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1853)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْجَرَادُ مِنْ صَيْدِ الْبَحْرِ  

[Machine] "We were afflicted with a plague of locusts, so a man was striking them with his whip while in a state of ihram. It was said to him, 'Surely, this is not correct.' So, this was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ , who said, 'Indeed, it is only from the catch of the sea.'"  

أَصَبْنَا ضَرْبًا مِنْ جَرَادٍ فَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَضْرِبُ بِسَوْطِهِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَصْلُحُ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا هُوَ مِنْ صَيْدِ الْبَحْرِ
