[Machine] Salim, if you want to follow the Sunnah, then migrate (to another place) for the prayer on the day of Arafah. Ibn Umar said, "He spoke the truth, they used to combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers on the day of Arafah according to the Sunnah." Ibn Shihab said, "So I said to Salim, 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that?' Salim said, 'And do they follow anything other than his Sunnah?'"

البيهقي:٩٤٥٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ثنا الرَّمَادِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ وَأَبُو صَالِحٍ أَنَّ اللَّيْثَ حَدَّثَهُمَا قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ الْحَجَّاجَ سَأَلَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ؟ قَالَ

سَالِمٌ إِنْ كُنْتَ تُرِيدُ السُّنَّةَ فَهَجِّرْ بِالصَّلَاةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ صَدَقَ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَجْمَعُونَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فِي السُّنَّةِ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ فَقُلْتُ لِسَالِمٍ أَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ سَالِمٌ وَهَلْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَهُ؟

أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فَقَالَ وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَهُمَا إِذَا فَاتَهُ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَعَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ إِنْ شَاءَ جَمَعَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ فَرَّقَ

Salim said, "In the year when Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf attacked Ibn Az-Zubair, the former asked 'Abdullah (Ibn 'Umar) what to do during the stay on the Day of 'Arafa (9th of Dhul-Hajjah). I said to him, "If you want to follow the Sunna (the legal way of the Prophet ﷺ) you should offer the Salat just after midday on the Day of the 'Arafa. 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, 'He (Salim) has spoken the truth.' " They (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) used to offer the Zuhr and Asr prayer together according to the Sunna, I asked Salim, "Did Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that ?" Salim said, "And in doing that do you (people) follow anything else except his ﷺ Sunna?"

البخاري:١٦٦٢ – وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ يُوسُفَ عَامَ نَزَلَ بِابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ؓ سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ؓ كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ
