12. Ḥajj and ʿUmrah (21/34)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ permitted his companions to throw stones one day and to abstain from it another day. Ibn Uyaynah mentioned this and likewise Rouh bin Al-Qasim narrated it from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr, as if they are both attributing it to Abu Al-Baddah, the grandfather, and his father Asim bin Adi.
12.236 [Machine] The license to graze during the day and roam at night if they wish.
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed the camels' herders to throw stones (at the camels) at night.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The shepherd throws (stones) at night and grazes during the day." With this chain of narration, Ibn Wahb reported to me that Yahya ibn Ayyub informed me from Umara ibn Ghaziyyah from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim from Abu Salamah ibn Abdur Rahman from the Prophet ﷺ something similar.
It was narrated from Abu Baddah bin ‘Asim, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ granted permission for some shepherds to stone one day and to not stone (the next) day. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3036)
12.237 [Machine] The sermon of the Imam in Mina during the middle of the days of Tashreeq.
We saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing (the people) in the middle of the tashriq days when we were staying near his mount. This is the address of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ which he gave at Mina. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1952)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "Do you know which day is this?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "This is the day of the Raya (gathering)." They said, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "This is one of the middle days of Tashriq (the three days following the Day of Sacrifice)." He then said, "Do you know which place is this?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "This is Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram (the Sacred Monument)." Then he said, "I do not know whether I will ever meet you at this place after this year. And I do know that your blood, your wealth, and your honor are as sacred to one another as the sacredness of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours. Behold! Have I conveyed the message?" The people replied, "Yes." He then said, "O Allah, bear witness!" He repeated this action three times, then he passed away not long after reaching Madinah.
[Machine] This Surah was revealed when the help of Allah and the victory came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the middle of the days of Tashriq. He knew that this was the farewell, so he ordered his camel, the Qaswa, to be prepared for him, and she was prepared for him. He rode on her and stopped at Al-Aqaba, and the people gathered. He said, "O people, he mentioned the speech in his sermon."
12.238 [Machine] Who hastened within two days after the day of sacrifice?
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing at Arafat, then some people from the people of Najd approached him and asked him about Hajj. He said, "Hajj is on the day of Arafat. Whoever reaches it before the dawn prayer has indeed performed Hajj and completed the days of Mina, which are three days of Tashreeq. And whoever delays, there is no sin upon him." [Al-Baqarah 203]
[Machine] "In His saying, 'So whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him' [Al-Baqarah 203]. He said, 'Whoever hastens [his departure] in two days, he will be forgiven, and whoever delays [until the third] - he will be forgiven."
12.239 [Machine] Translation: "Whoever the sun sets for on the first day of Al-Nafar (the day of departure) in Mina, should stay until he throws the pebbles on the third day after noon.
[Machine] From Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, it is said that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The weak narration is the saying of Al-Hasan, Jabir bin Zaid, and An-Nakha'i."
[Machine] When the day of the final confrontation dawns, the time for the battle has come, and Talhah ibn 'Amr al-Makkī, a weak-hearted individual, is ready.
12.240 [Machine] Who leaves anything from throwing until the days of Mina are over?
[Machine] "Whoever forgets or leaves out something from their ritual, they should spill blood." Malik said, "I do not know." He said, "Did he leave it or forget it?" The sheikh said, "Yes, it is like that."
12.241 [Machine] No license for a temporary accommodation in Makkah during the nights of Mina.
[Machine] 'Umar ibn al-Khattab does not allow anyone from the pilgrims to spend the nights in Mina behind Al-Aqaba.'
12.242 [Machine] License for the people of Suqaya to stay overnight in Makkah during the nights of Mina.
[Machine] That Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to spend some nights in Makkah for the sake of his watering. So he granted him permission.
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib to spend a few nights in Makkah for the sake of his watering station. Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us that Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, that Ahmad ibn Sahl narrated to us, that Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, that Isa ibn Yunus mentioned it.
12.243 [Machine] What was said at the beginning of throwing?
[Machine] When Ibrahim, the friend of Allah, ﷺ , came to perform the rituals, Shaytan appeared to him at the stone of Al-Aqaba and threw seven pebbles at him until they buried into the ground. Then Shaytan appeared to him again at the second stone, and threw seven more pebbles at him until they buried into the ground. Then Shaytan appeared to him at the third stone, and threw seven more pebbles at him until they buried into the ground. Ibn Abbas said, "You stone the Shaytan, but you follow the religion of your father."
[Machine] Jibril ﷺ came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and took him to show him the rituals. Thabeer opened for him, then he entered Mina and he saw Jamra, then he saw it crowded, then he saw it in Arafat. The Shaytan tempted the Prophet ﷺ at the first Jamra, so he threw seven pebbles at him until he vanished. Then he tempted him at the second Jamra, so he threw seven pebbles at him until he vanished. Then he tempted him at the Jamra of Al-Aqabah, so he threw seven pebbles at him until he vanished. This is how it was narrated by 'Abdan bin 'Uthman from Abu Hamzah, who mentioned it exclusively. This is the narration of 'Ata' ibn As-Sa'ib.
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed tawaf around the Kaaba on a camel, and it was his habit. He said, "They have told the truth and lied." I said, "What did they tell the truth and lie about?" He said, "They told the truth that he performed tawaf on a camel, but it is not a habit. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not turn people away from him or prevent them from receiving his words. He would perform tawaf on a camel until they could hear his words, and their hands could not reach him." I said, "They claim that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw pebbles at the Kaaba, and that it is a habit." He said, "They told the truth and lied." I said, "What did they tell the truth and lie about?" He said, "They told the truth that he threw pebbles, but it is not a habit. Indeed, the Quraysh said, 'Leave Muhammad and his companions until they die the death of a wild dog.' When they made peace with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and agreed to come from the following year to stay in Mecca for three days, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , his companions, and the polytheists came from the direction of Qa'iqi'an. He said to his companions, 'Put on your ihram garments, and it is not a habit.' I said, 'And your people claim that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked between Safa and Marwa, and it is a habit.' He said, 'They told the truth. Indeed, when Ibrahim ﷺ was shown the rituals, Satan appeared to him at Al-Mas'a, but Jibril ﷺ preceded him. Ibrahim ﷺ then went with him until they reached Mina. Ibrahim ﷺ said to him, 'Muna, this is the place where the people stay.' Then, he went to the middle Jamarat, and Satan appeared to him. He threw seven pebbles until he was finished. Then, he went to the final Jamarat, and he threw at it. Ibn Abbas said, 'Do you know why Arafah is called Arafah?' They said, 'No.' He said, 'Because Jibril ﷺ said to him, 'Did you know?' Ibn Abbas said, 'Do you know how the Talbiah was performed?' I said, 'How was it performed?' He said, 'When Ibrahim ﷺ was commanded to call the people to Hajj, the mountains were commanded to lower their heads, and the valleys were raised for him. He called the people to Hajj, and they were announced to the people. Thereafter, the rest of the Hadith was mentioned in a similar manner, except that he said, 'He performed tawaf between Safa and Marwa on a camel.' And he added when he said, 'Then, Jibril ﷺ took him to the final Jamarat, and Satan appeared to him. He threw seven pebbles at it until he was finished. Then, he went to the remaining parts of the Hadith in a similar manner.' Ibn Abbas said, 'Naghaf are worms that are found in the nostrils of sheep.'"

[Machine] He was afflicted by someone who ordered him to carry weapons on a day when it is not permissible to carry them. He said, "If we had known it was him, we would have punished him." This is because the people went out to mobilize and a man from the guards of Al-Hajjaj exposed his sword and struck the back of Ibn Umar's foot. He was ordered to be punished until he died from it. This is a summarized narration from Abu Nuaim, and this is the narration from Abu Al-Nadr.

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "It is not permitted for any of you to carry weapons in Makkah." And Abu Zakariyya bin Abi Ishaq informed us, narrating from Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ya'qub, narrating from Ibrahim bin Muhammad As-Saydalani, who mentioned something similar to it.

12.245 [Machine] The Boy's Pilgrimage
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ traveled and when he arrived in Al-Rawha, he met a group of people and greeted them. He asked them who they were, and they replied that they were Muslims. He then asked, "Who are these people?" They answered, "They are Muslims." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised a young boy to him, who was with a woman, and she asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, is this child performing Hajj?" He replied, "Yes, and you will be rewarded as well."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a woman while she was holding a child. It was said to her, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So she took hold of the child's arm and said, "Is this a pilgrimage?" He ﷺ replied, "Yes, and you will receive the same reward."
[Machine] A woman raised her son in a cradle and breastfed him on the way to Mecca. She asked, "O Messenger of Allah, is this considered Hajj?" He replied, "Yes, you will receive the reward for it, or as they say."
“A woman held up a child of hers to the Prophet ﷺ during Hajj and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, is there Hajj for this one?’ He said: ‘Yes, and you will be rewarded.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2910)
[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking on the road to Makkah, a woman called out to him from a rocky area, and she grabbed the shoulder of a little boy and lifted him up. She asked, "Is this boy performing Hajj, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied to her, "He is performing Hajj, and you will also receive the reward."
the Messenger of Allah passed by a woman when she was in her seclusion and had a child with her. She said: "Is there Hajj for this one?'' He said: "Yes, and you will be rewarded.''(sahih) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2649)
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, is this a pilgrimage?" He said, "Yes, and you will have a reward." He (Sulayman) said, "And Sulayman narrated to us, on the authority of Mu'adh, on the authority of Ali ibn al-Madinii, on the authority of Yahya ibn Sa'id and Ibn Mahdi (stating), 'And Sulayman narrated to us, on the authority of al-Hadrami, on the authority of Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah, on the authority of Abu Usamah - all of them from Sufyan, from Muhammad ibn Uqbah, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet ﷺ , with a similar narration, with no difference in wording.'"

[Machine] The traveler said to me, "During the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the measurement of a sa' was a certain amount, and one-third of that measurement is what you have today. It was increased during the time of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz." The traveler continued, "I performed Hajj along with the Prophet ﷺ when I was a young boy."

[Machine] We performed the Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and women and children were with us. We made Tawaf on behalf of the children and threw the pebbles on their behalf. Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdan informed us that Ahmad ibn Ubayd narrated to us from Ali ibn al-Saqr ibn Nasr from Sa'dawayh from Mansour ibn Abi al-Aswad from Ash'ath from Abu Zubair from Jabir, who mentioned him with this wording that Ayyman ibn Nabil mentioned.

12.246 [Machine] Entering the House and Praying Inside it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca on a camel belonging to Usama bin Zaid and dismounted in the courtyard of the Kaaba. He called for Usama bin Talha to bring the key, and when he arrived, the Prophet ﷺ opened the door and entered along with Usama, Bilal, and Usama bin Talha. The people crowded around them at the door, and then they opened it. Abdullah said, "I hurried to the people and found Bilal by the door. I asked him, 'Where did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray?' He said, 'Between the two front pillars.' I forgot to ask him how many rak'ahs he prayed."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered the Kaaba along with Usama bin Zaid, Uthman bin Talhah al-Hajabi, and Bilal. He closed the door behind him and stayed inside. Abdullah bin Umar asked Bilal when he came out, "What did the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , do?" Bilal replied, "He placed a pillar on his left side, two pillars on his right side, and three pillars behind him. The Kaaba at that time had six pillars. Then he performed the prayer, reciting the Qanabi Hadith."
[Machine] He asked Bilal where did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray? Meaning, in the Kaaba. So Bilal showed him where he prayed, and he did not ask him how many prayers he performed. Ibn Umar, when he entered the house, would face its front and put the door behind his back, then he would walk until he was close to the wall, about the distance of three cubits, then he would pray, choosing the place that Bilal informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray in.
Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Mecca through its higher region on the day of the Conquest (of Mecca) riding his she-camel on which Usama was riding behind him. Bilal and ʿUthman bin Talha, one of the servants of the Kaʿba, were also accompanying him till he made his camel kneel in the mosque and ordered the latter to bring the key of the Kaʿba. He opened the door of the Kaʿba and Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered in the company of Usama, Bilal and ʿUthman, and stayed in it for a long period. When he came out, the people rushed to it, and ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar was the first to enter it and found Bilal standing behind the door. He asked Bilal, "Where did the Prophet ﷺ offer his prayer?" He pointed to the place where he had offered his prayer. ʿAbdullah said, "I forgot to ask him how many rakʿat he had performed." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2988)
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Mecca, he refused to enter the Kaaba as it contained idols. So he ordered them to be removed. They then brought out the statues of Ibrahim and Ismail, which were holding the arrows in their hands. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah curse them! By Allah, they knew well that they never used to swear by those (idols)." Then he entered the Kaaba and made takbeer in its corners, but he did not pray in it. This is the wording of the Hadith of Abu Imran and the Hadith of the Qadi is shortened, that the Prophet ﷺ entered the Kaaba and made takbeer in its corners, then he descended and did not pray.
The Prophet ﷺ ordered Umar ibn al-Khattab who was in al-Batha' at the time of the conquest (of Makkah) to visit the Ka'bah and obliterate all images in it. The Prophet ﷺ did not enter it until all the images were obliterated. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4156)
The Prophet ﷺ entered the Kaʿba and found in it the pictures of (Prophet) Abraham and Mary. On that he said' "What is the matter with them ( i.e. Quraish)? They have already heard that angels do not enter a house in which there are pictures; yet this is the picture of Abraham. And why is he depicted as practicing divination by arrows?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 3351)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever enters a house enters in a good deed and leaves behind a bad deed, and leaves forgiven for him." Abdullah ibn Al-Muammal mentioned this hadith, but he is not considered a strong narrator.
[Machine] Aisha used to marvel at how a Muslim raises his gaze towards the roof when entering the Kaaba, as an act of reverence and magnification of Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Kaaba, and his gaze did not leave the place of his prostration until he left it.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, all of your wives have entered the house except for me." He said, "Go to your close relatives and let them open the door for you." She said, "So I went to them and said, 'Indeed, the Messenger of Allah commands you to open the door for me.'" She said, "So he took the keys and went with her to the Messenger of Allah and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have not opened the door at night, neither in the pre-Islamic period nor in Islam.'" He said to Aisha, "When your people built the house, the expenses became tight for them, so they left a part of the house in stone. Go and pray two Rak'ahs in the stone area."

[Machine] I asked Abdullah Ibn Abi Awfa, "Did the Prophet ﷺ enter the Kaaba during his Umrah?" He replied, "No."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left me while he was content and joyful, then he returned to me and he was sad. So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you left me while you were like this and that." He said, "I entered the Kaaba and wished that I had not done so. I fear that I have caused my Ummah to suffer after me." The Sheikh said, "This took place during his Hajj, and the hadith of Ibn Abi Aufa in his Umrah does not contradict the other hadith."
