١٢۔ كِتَابُ الْحَجِّ ص ١٢
[Machine] That Ibn Uthman's son died while in a state of ihram, and he did not cover his head or bring him near any fragrance.
أَنَّ ابْنًا لِعُثْمَانَ ؓ تُوُفِّيَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَلَمْ يُخَمِّرْ رَأْسَهُ وَلَمْ يُقَرِّبْهُ طِيبًا

١٢۔١٢٩ بَابُ الْغُسْلِ لِدُخُولِ مَكَّةَ
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ فَعَلَهُ
[Machine] About the talbiyah, then he stays overnight in Dhu Tuwa, then he prays the morning prayer with us, and he washes and mentions that the Prophet ﷺ used to do that.
عَنِ التَّلْبِيَةِ ثُمَّ يَبِيتُ بِذِي طُوًى ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي بِنَا الصُّبْحَ وَيَغْتَسِلُ وَيُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ

12.130 [Machine] Entering from the pass of Kadhaa
١٢۔١٣٠ بَابُ الدُّخُولِ مِنْ ثَنِيَّةِ كَدَاءَ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca during the Year of the Conquest, coming from the upper part of Mecca, and he performed the Umrah, coming from Kudaa. Hisham said: My father used to enter both of them (Mecca and Kudaa) together. And my father often used to enter Kudaa. Al-Qasim's wording was that he entered the Umrah from Kudaa. And Urwah used to enter both of them (Mecca and Kudaa) together, and he used to enter Kudaa more often. And his (Urwah's) residence was closer to it (Kudaa).
النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ مِنْ كَدَاءَ مِنْ أَعْلَى مَكَّةَ وَخَرَجَ فِي الْعُمْرَةِ مِنْ كُدًى قَالَ هِشَامٌ فَكَانَ أَبِي يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُمَا كِلَيْهِمَا قَالَ وَكَانَ أَبِي كَثِيرًا مَا يَدْخُلُ مِنْ كُدًى لَفْظُ الْقَاسِمِ وَقَالُوا وَدَخَلَ فِي الْعُمْرَةِ مِنْ كُدًى وَكَانَ عُرْوَةُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا وَكَانَ أَكْثَرَ مَا يَدْخُلُ مِنْ كُدًى وَكَانَ أَقْرَبَهُمَا إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca from its higher parts and left from its lower parts.
النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا جَاءَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ دَخَلَ مِنْ أَعْلَاهَا وَخَرَجَ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا
Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enter Mecca from the high Thaniya and used to leave Mecca from the low Thaniya. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1575)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَدْخُلُ مَكَّةَ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ الْعُلْيَا وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ السُّفْلَى
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ used to enter Mecca from the route of Kadaa'ah in the valley of Bat-haa and would exit from the lower route of Thaniyyah.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَدْخُلُ مَكَّةَ مِنْ كَدَاءَ مِنْ ثَنِيَّةِ الْبَطْحَاءِ وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ السُّفْلَى
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to enter from the upper side and leave from the lower side, and their distance was equal.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَدْخُلُ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ الْعُلْيَا وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ السُّفْلَى لَفْظُهُمَا سَوَاءٌ
12.131 [Machine] Entering Mecca day or night.
١٢۔١٣١ بَابُ دُخُولِ مَكَّةَ لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spent the night at Dhi Tuwwa until morning, then entered Mecca, and Ibn Umar used to do the same.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَاتَ بِذِي طُوًى حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ
12.132 [Machine] Entering the Mosque from the gate of Bani Shaybah
١٢۔١٣٢ بَابُ دُخُولِ الْمَسْجِدِ مِنْ بَابِ بَنِي شَيْبَةَ
[Machine] That the house was demolished after they took out its daughter. Quraysh argued about who should place the stone, and they agreed that the first person to enter through this door should do it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered through the door of Bani Shaybah and ordered for a cloth to be placed in the middle and instructed each tribe to hold onto a part of the cloth and lift it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the stone and placed it.
أَنْ هُدِمَ الْبَيْتُ بَعْدَ جُرْهُمٍ بِنَتْهُ قُرَيْشٌ فَلَمَّا أَرَادُوا وَضْعَ الْحَجَرِ تَشَاجَرُوا مَنْ يَضَعُهُ فَاتَّفَقُوا أَنْ يَضَعَهُ أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ بَابِ بَنِي شَيْبَةَ فَأَمَرَ بِثَوْبٍ فَوَضَعَ الْحَجَرَ فِي وَسَطِهِ وَأَمَرَ كُلَّ فَخِذٍ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنَ الثَّوْبِ فَيَرْفَعُوهُ وَأَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَضَعَهُ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca from the grand gate, and Quraish sat after the Stone. It has been narrated by Ibn Umar that he entered through the gate of Bani Shaybah and exited through the gate of Al-Hanatin, although the chain of narration is not reliable. We have also been narrated from Ibn Jurayj from Ata that the pilgrim may enter from wherever he wishes. He said that the Prophet ﷺ entered from the gate of Bani Shaybah and exited from the gate of Bani Makhzum towards Safa, and this is a good Mursal narration.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا قَدِمَ فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَكَّةَ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ الْأَعْظَمِ وَقَدْ جَلَسَتْ قُرَيْشٌ مِمَّا يَلِي الْحَجَرَ وَرُوِيَ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَرْفُوعًا فِي دُخُولِهِ مِنْ بَابِ بَنِي شَيْبَةَ وَخُرُوجِهِ مِنْ بَابِ الْحَنَّاطِينَ وَإِسْنَادُهُ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنْ حَيْثُ شَاءَ قَالَ وَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ بَابِ بَنِي شَيْبَةَ وَخَرَجَ مِنْ بَابِ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ إِلَى الصَّفَا وَهَذَا مُرْسَلٌ جَيِّدٌ
12.133 [Machine] Raising the hands when seeing the house
١٢۔١٣٣ بَابُ رَفْعِ الْيَدَيْنِ إِذَا رَأَى الْبَيْتَ
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "The hands are raised during the prayer, and when seeing the Ka'bah, and on Safa and Marwa, and during the evening of Arafat, and at the gathering near the Jamratayn, and on touching the deceased, that is what we hear, and in the open space (Mabsut), and near the Jamratayn, and with its meaning."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ تُرْفَعُ الْأَيْدِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا رَأَى الْبَيْتَ وَعَلَى الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَعَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ وَبِجَمْعٍ عِنْدَ الْجَمْرَتَيْنِ وَعَلَى الْمَيِّتِ كَذَا فِي سَمَاعِنَا وَفِي الْمَبْسُوطِ وَعِنْدَ الْجَمْرَتَيْنِ وَبِمَعْنَاهُ
[Machine] I didn't see anyone do this except for the Jews. We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so did we do it? 9212 Abu Ali Al-Rudhbary told us that Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us that Abu Dawood narrated to us that Yahya ibn Ma'in told us that Muhammad ibn Ja'far informed them that Shu'bah said, "I heard Abu Qaz'ah narrating and he mentioned its meaning except that he said, 'We argued with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and did not do it.' The first Shaykh (i.e., Abu 'Ali Al-Rudhbary) said, 'With his transmission, it is more famous among the people of knowledge than the Hadith of a Muhajir, and it has supporting evidences although it is Mursal (broken-chain narration). The saying in a case like this is the saying of the one who Saw (the incident) and established it."
مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُ هَذَا إِلَّا الْيَهُودَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَفَكُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ؟ 9212 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قَزَعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَدْ حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ نَكُنْ نَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ الْأَوَّلُ مَعَ إِرْسَالِهِ أَشْهَرُ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُهَاجِرٍ وَلَهُ شَوَاهِدُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مُرْسَلَةً وَالْقَوْلُ فِي مِثْلٍ هَذَا قَوْلُ مَنْ رَأَى وَأَثْبَتَ
12.134 [Machine] The statement about seeing the house
١٢۔١٣٤ بَابُ الْقَوْلِ عَنْ رُؤْيَةِ الْبَيْتِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands when he saw the Kaaba and say, "O Allah, increase the honor, magnification, dignity, and grandeur of this house, and increase the honor, magnification, and dignity of those who honor and glorify it, as well as those who perform Hajj or Umrah. This (supplication) is severed (meaning the narration ends here), and it has a trustworthy witness that is transmitted from Sufyan Ath-Thawri, from Abu Sa'id Ash-Shami, from Mak’hul, who said: "When the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah and saw the Kaaba, he raised his hands, said Takbir (Allahu Akbar), and then said, 'O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace. Grant us life with peace, O our Lord.' O Allah, increase the honor, magnification, dignity, and grandeur of this house, and increase the honor, magnification, and dignity of those who perform Hajj or Umrah, and bestow upon them honor, magnification, dignity, and piety. 9214 Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ibrahim As-Sabehani Al-Hafiz informed us, Abu Nasr Al-Iraqi reported to us, Sufyan ibn Muhammad reported to us, Ali ibn Al-Hassan Ad-Darabijirdi reported to us, Abdullah ibn Al-Walid reported to us, Sufyan informed me, Abu Sa'id Ash-Shami mentioned it."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى الْبَيْتَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ اللهُمَّ زِدْ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَمَهَابَةً وَزِدْ مَنْ شَرَّفَهُ وَكَرَّمَهُ وَعَظَّمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّهُ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَهُ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا هَذَا مُنْقَطِعٌ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ مُرْسَلٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الشَّامِيِّ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ فَرَأَى الْبَيْتَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ وَقَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ فَحَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ اللهُمَّ زِدْ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَمَهَابَةً وَزِدْ مَنْ حَجَّهُ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَهُ تَكْرِيمًا وَتَشْرِيفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا 9214 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِرَاقِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الدَّارَابَجِرْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثنا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الشَّامِيُّ فَذَكَرَهُ
[Machine] O Allah, You are the source of peace and from You comes peace. Grant us, O our Lord, a life filled with peace.
اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ حَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ
[Machine] I heard from Umar a word that no one else heard except me. I heard him say, "When he sees the House (Kaaba), he says, 'O Allah, You are peace and from You is peace. So, bestow peace upon us, our Lord, with peace.'" Al-Abbas said, I asked Yahya ibn Ibrahim ibn Tarif, "Who is this?" He replied, "He is a Yamami." I asked, "Then who is Humaid ibn Ya'qub?" He said, "He narrated from him, Yahya ibn Sa'eed al-Ansari."
سَمِعْتُ مِنْ عُمَرَ ؓ كَلِمَةً مَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ سَمِعَهَا غَيْرِي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِذَا رَأَى الْبَيْتَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ فَحَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ قَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ قُلْتُ لِيَحْيَى مَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ هَذَا؟ قَالَ يَمَامِيٌّ قُلْتُ فَمَنْ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ رَوَى عَنْهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ
12.135 [Machine] The opening of the Tawaf with Istilam
١٢۔١٣٥ بَابُ افْتِتَاحِ الطَّوَافُ بِالِاسْتِلَامِ
[Machine] From his father, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he arrived in Mecca, he would take hold of the Black Corner first before making Tawaf. He would perform three rounds out of the seven.
عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ يَقْدَمُ مَكَّةَ يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَ الْأَسْوَدَ أَوَّلَ مَا يَطُوفُ يَخُبُّ ثَلَاثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ مِنَ السَّبْعِ
[Machine] I was between the Kaaba and its curtains when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered. He began by touching the Black Stone and then circumambulated the House seven times, and then prayed behind the Station two units of prayer.
كُنْتُ بَيْنَ الْكَعْبَةِ وَأَسْتَارِهَا فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَدَأَ بِالْحَجَرِ فَاسْتَلَمَهُ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعًا وَصَلَّى خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
12.136 [Machine] Kissing the Stone
١٢۔١٣٦ بَابُ تَقْبِيلِ الْحَجَرِ
[Machine] "Indeed, I know that you are a stone that neither benefits nor harms. If I had not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissing you, I would not have kissed you, as mentioned in the narration of Thawri, and in another narration, I saw Umar receiving the stone and saying, 'By Allah, I know that you are a stone, and if I had not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissing you, I would not have kissed you,' then he came forward and kissed it."
إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ مَا تَنْفَعُ وَلَا تَضُرُّ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ يَعْلَى رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْحَجَرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَقَبَّلَهُ
[Machine] "And he said, 'Verily, I kiss you and I know that you are a stone.' Then he mentioned the narration."
وَقَالَ إِنِّي لَأُقَبِّلُكَ وَإِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الرِّوَايَةَ
[Machine] We entered Mecca during the time of the morning sunlight. The Prophet ﷺ came to the gate of the mosque, I held his camel for him, and then he entered the mosque. He began by touching the Black Stone, and he kissed it. Tears flowed from his eyes as he wept. Then he threw pebbles three times and walked around the Kaaba four times until he finished. When he finished, he kissed the Black Stone again and placed his hands on it and wiped his face with them.
دَخَلْنَا مَكَّةَ عِنْدَ ارْتِفَاعِ الضُّحَى فَأَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَابَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَنَاخَ رَاحِلَتَهُ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَبَدَأَ بِالْحَجَرِ فَاسْتَلَمَهُ وَفَاضَتْ عَيْنَاهُ بِالْبُكَاءِ ثُمَّ رَمَلَ ثَلَاثًا وَمَشَى أَرْبَعًا حَتَّى فَرَغَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَبَّلَ الْحَجَرَ وَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِهِمَا وَجْهَهُ
A man asked Ibn ʿUmar about the touching of the Black Stone. Ibn ʿUmar said, "I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ touching and kissing it." The questioner said, "But if there were a throng (much rush) round the Kaʿba and the people overpowered me, (what would I do?)" He replied angrily, "Stay in Yemen (as that man was from Yemen). I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ touching and kissing it." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1611)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُهُ وَيُقَبِّلُهُ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إنْ زُحِمْتُ؟ أَرَأَيْتَ إنْ غُلِبْتُ؟ قَالَ اجْعَلْ أَرَأَيْتَ بِالْيَمَنِ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُهُ وَيُقَبِّلُهُ
12.137 [Machine] Prostration Upon It
١٢۔١٣٧ بَابُ السُّجُودِ عَلَيْهِ
[Machine] Abu Asim An-Nabil narrated to us, Jafar ibn Abdullah said: "I saw Muhammad ibn Abbād ibn Ja’far kiss the Black Stone and prostrate on it. Then he said: 'I saw your maternal uncle, Ibn Abbas, kiss and prostrate on it.' Ibn Abbas said: 'I saw Umar ibn Al-Khattab kiss and prostrate on it.' Then he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do the same, so I did it.' This is the narration of Abu Asim, and in the narration of Attayalisi, Umar said: 'If I had not seen the Prophet ﷺ kiss it, I wouldn't have kissed it.' This is Jafar, he is Ibn Abdullah, son of Uthman, At-Tayalisi attributed his lineage to his grandfather."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ النَّبِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَبَّلَ الْحَجَرَ وَسَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ خَالَكَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يُقَبِّلُهُ وَيَسْجُدُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ قَبَّلَهُ وَسَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ هَكَذَا فَفَعَلْتُ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الطَّيَالِسِيِّ ثُمَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ لَوْ لَمْ أَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَبَّلَهُ مَا قَبَّلْتُهُ وَجَعْفَرٌ هَذَا هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ نَسَبَهُ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ إِلَى جَدِّهِ
[Machine] Abu al-Abbas al-Asamm narrated that ar-Rabi' narrated that ash-Shafi'i narrated that Sa'id narrated from Ibn Jurayj from Abu Ja'far, who said: "I saw Ibn Abbas on the day of Tarwiyah, with his head covered. He then kissed the corner [of the Ka'bah], then prostrated on it. He then kissed it, and prostrated on it three times."
ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ سَعِيدٌ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ جَاءَ يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ مُسَبِّدًا رَأْسَهُ فَقَبَّلَ الرُّكْنَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَبَّلَهُ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ prostrating on the stone. Sulaiman said: "I have not heard of it except from Sufyan, through the narration of Ibn Yaman and Ibn Abi Husayn, Abdullah ibn Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Husayn."
رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَسْجُدُ عَلَى الْحَجَرِ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ إِلَّا ابْنُ يَمَانٍ وَابْنُ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ
12.138 [Machine] Kissing the hand after receiving
١٢۔١٣٨ بَابُ تَقْبِيلِ الْيَدِ بَعْدَ الِاسْتِلَامِ
[Machine] And he said, "I have not left it since I saw the Prophet ﷺ doing it."
وَقَالَ مَا تَرَكْتُهُ مُنْذُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ
وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ حَسِبْتُ كَثِيرًا
12.139 [Machine] What is mentioned in the Black Stone and the Station?
١٢۔١٣٩ بَابُ مَا وَرَدَ فِي الْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ , وَالْمَقَامِ
He heard the Messenger of Allah saying: "Indeed the Corner and the Maqam are two corundums from the corundum of Paradise. Allah removed their lights, and if their lights had not been removed then they would illuminate what is between east and the west." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 878)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الرُّكْنُ وَالْمَقَامُ يَاقُوتَتَانِ مِنْ يَوَاقِيتِ الْجَنَّةِ طَمَسَ اللهُ نُورَهُمَا وَلَوْلَا ذَلِكَ لَأَضَاءَتَا مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, the corner (of Kaaba) and the Maqam are made of the precious stone of Paradise. If it were not for the sins of the children of Adam that have touched them, they would illuminate everything between the east and the west. And nothing touches them from any illness or ailment except that it is healed."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الرُّكْنَ وَالْمَقَامَ مِنْ يَاقُوتِ الْجَنَّةِ وَلَوْلَا مَا مَسَّهُمَا مِنْ خَطَايَا بَنِي آدَمَ لَأَضَاءَا مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا مَسَّهُمَا مِنْ ذِي عَاهَةٍ وَلَا سَقِيمٌ إِلَّا شُفِيَ
[Machine] If it were not for the impurity of ignorance that touched him, he would not have been touched by disability. And there is nothing on earth from Paradise for him except him.
لَوْلَا مَا مَسَّهُ مِنْ أَنْجَاسِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مَا مَسَّهُ ذُو عَاهَةٍ إِلَّا شُفِيَ وَمَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ غَيْرُهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Black Stone is from the stones of Paradise."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَجَرُ الْأَسْوَدُ مِنْ حِجَارَةِ الْجَنَّةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah will send the rock on the Day of Judgment. It will have two eyes with which it can see, and a tongue with which it will speak. It will bear witness against those who took it unjustly, and likewise..." (The rest of the passage is missing)
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ اللهُ الْحَجَرَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَهُ عَيْنَانِ يُبْصِرُ بِهِمَا وَلِسَانٌ يَنْطِقُ بِهِ يَشْهَدُ عَلَى مَنِ اسْتَلَمَهُ بِحَقٍّ وَكَذَلِكَ
12.140 [Machine] Receipt of the Yemeni corner in his hand
١٢۔١٤٠ بَابُ اسْتِلَامِ الرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِيِّ بِيَدِهِ
[Machine] I have not ceased to take charge of these two corners, Al-Yamani and the Black Stone, since I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taking charge of them, whether in times of hardship or in times of ease.
مَا تَرَكْتُ اسْتِلَامَ هَذَيْنِ الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْيَمَانِيِّ وَالْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ مُنْذُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُهُمَا فِي شِدَّةٍ وَلَا فِي رَخَاءٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to touch the Yemeni Corner and the Black Corner in each Tawaf, but he did not touch the other two corners.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ وَالرُّكْنَ الْأَسْوَدَ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ فِي كُلِّ طَوْفَةٍ وَلَا يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْآخَرَيْنِ
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ received the Black Stone and kissed it, and he also received the Yemeni Corner and kissed his hand. 'Umar ibn Qais al-Makki, who was weak, narrated a report about his kissing that cannot be confirmed."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَلَمَ الْحَجَرَ فَقَبَّلَهُ وَاسْتَلَمَ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ فَقَبَّلَ يَدَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْمَكِّيُّ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي تَقْبِيلِهِ خَبَرٌ لَا يَثْبُتُ مِثْلُهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss and place his right cheek on the Yemenite corner when he would take it. Abdullah bin Muslim bin Hurmuz, who was weak, excelled in this act. The narration about Ibn Abbas kissing the Black Stone and prostrating to it, unless he intended to do so with the Yemenite corner, is also referred to as such, and it corresponds to other acts.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا اسْتَلَمَ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ قَبَّلَهُ وَوَضَعَ خَدَّهُ الْأَيْمَنَ عَلَيْهِ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَالْأَخْبَارُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي تَقْبِيلِ الْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ وَالسُّجُودِ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ أَرَادَ بِالرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِيِّ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ فَإِنَّهُ أَيْضًا يُسَمَّى بِذَلِكَ فَيَكُونُ مُوَافِقًا لِغَيْرِهِ
12.141 [Machine] The two corners that lead to the stone
١٢۔١٤١ بَابُ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانِ الْحَجَرَ
[Machine] I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping any part of the house except for the Yemeni corner.
لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْيَمَانِيَّيْنِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to only touch the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ لَا يَسْتَلِمُ إِلَّا الْحَجَرَ وَالرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ
[Machine] "Abdullah bin Umar: As for the pillars, I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch any except the Yemenis, and he mentioned the hadith."
عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَمَّا الْأَرْكَانُ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمَسُّ إِلَّا الْيَمَانِيَّيْنِ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
[Machine] He heard Abdullah ibn Abbas say, "I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing the Tawaf except by touching the two Yemeni corners."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُ غَيْرَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْيَمَانِيَّيْنِ
[Machine] Muawiyah performed the Hajj pilgrimage and he would not go to any corner of the Kaaba except to touch it. Ibn Abbas said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to touch the Yemeni corner and the Black Stone." Muawiyah replied, "There is no tradition of touching any abandoned corner." Amr bin Al-Harith reported from Qatadah about the story of Muawiyah, and this is one aspect of it.
حَجَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَجَعَلَ لَا يَأْتِي عَلَى رُكْنٍ مِنْ أَرْكَانِ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا اسْتَلَمَهُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُ الْيَمَانِيَّ وَالْحَجَرَ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَرْكَانِهِ مَهْجُورٌ تَابَعَهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ دُونَ قِصَّةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ الْوَجْهِ
[Machine] I accompanied Omar, and when we reached the two Arabic corners, I said, "Won't you surrender?" And I stood between him and the wall, and he said, "Didn't you perform Tawaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Did you see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ surrendering it?" I said, "No." He said, "So for you, in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a good example, so deviate from it." Al-Shafi'i, may Allah Almighty have mercy on him, said: "As for the reason for them, we see that the house was not completed on the foundations of Ibrahim, so they are like the rest of the house."
طُفْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ ؓ فَلَمَّا بَلَغْنَا الرُّكْنَيْنِ الْعَرَبِيَّيْنِ قُلْتُ أَلَا تَسْتَلِمُ؟ وَصِرْتُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْحَائِطِ فَقَالَ أَلَمْ تَطُفْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَلِمُهُ؟ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ فَلَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ انْفُذْ عَنْكَ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى وَأَمَّا الْعِلَّةُ فِيهِمَا فَنَرَى أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يُتَمَّمْ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَكَانَا كَسَائِرِ الْبَيْتِ
(the wife of the Prophet) that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Do you know that when your people (Quraish) rebuilt the Kaʿba, they decreased it from its original foundation laid by Abraham?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Why don't you rebuild it on its original foundation laid by Abraham?" He replied, "Were it not for the fact that your people are close to the Pre-Islamic Period of ignorance (i.e. they have recently become Muslims) I would have done so." The sub-narrator, ʿAbdullah (bin ʿUmar ) stated: ʿAisha 'must have heard this from Messenger of Allah ﷺ for in my opinion Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not placed his hand over the two corners of the Kaʿba opposite Al-Hijr only because the Kaʿba was not rebuilt on its original foundations laid by Abraham. رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَلَمْ تَرَيْ أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حِينَ بَنَوَا الْكَعْبَةَ اقْتَصَرُوا عَنْ قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَفَلَا تَرُدُّهَا إِلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا حِدْثَانُ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ لَفَعَلْتُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَرَكَ اسْتِلَامَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانِ الْحَجَرَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يُتَمَّمْ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
12.142 [Machine] The hastening of circumambulation around the Kaaba when entering Mecca and the statement that it is not permissible if one is a pilgrim or a resident (in Mecca). Ata said: When the Messenger of Allah entered Mecca, he did not go to any heights until he circumambulated the Kaaba.
١٢۔١٤٢ بَابُ تَعْجِيلِ الطَّوَافِ بِالْبَيْتِ حِينَ يَدْخُلُ مَكَّةَ وَالْبَيَانِ أَنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ بِهِ إِذَا كَانَ حَاجًّا أَوْ قَارِنًا قَالَ عَطَاءٌ: لَمَّا دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ لَمْ يَلْوِ وَلَمْ يَعْرُجْ حَتَّى طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ
A person from Iraq said to him to inquire from 'Urwa b. Zubair for him whether a person who puts on Ihram for Hajj is allowed to put it off or not as he circumambulates the House. And if he says:" No, it can't be put off," then tell him that there is a person who makes such an assertion. He (Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman) then said: I asked him ( Urwa b. Zubair), where- upon he said: The person who has entered into the state of Ihram for Hajj cannot get out of it unless he has, completed the Hajj I (further) said (to him): (What) if a person makes that assertion? Thereupon he said: It is indeed unfortunate that he makes such an assertion. That person ('Iraqi) then met me and he asked me and I narrated to him (the reply of 'Urwa), whereupon he (the Iraqi) said: Tell him ('Urwa) that a person had informed him that Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done that; and why is it that Asma' and Zubair have done like this? He (Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman) said: I went to him and made a mention of that to him, whereupon he ('Urwa) said: Who is he (the 'Iraqi)? I said: I do not know, whereupon he said: What is the matter that he does not come to me himself and ask me? I suppose he is an 'Iraqi. I said: I do not know, whereupon he said: He has told a lie. Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Hajj, and 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) has told me that the first thing with which he commenced (the rituals) when he arrived at Mecca was that he performed ablution and then circumambulated the Ka'ba. Then Abu Bakr performed Hajj and the first thing with which he commenced (the Hajj) as the circumambulation of the Ka'ba and nothing besides it. So did 'Umar. Then 'Uthman performed Hajj and I saw that the first thing with which he commenced the Hajj was the circumambulation of the Ka'ba and nothing besides it. Then Mu'awiya and Abdullah b. 'Umar did that. Then I performed Hajj with my father Zubair b. al-'Awwam, and the first thing with which he commenced (Hajj) was the circumambulation of the House. He then did nothing besides it. I then saw the emigrants (Muhajirin) and the helpers (Ansar) doing like this and nothing besides it. And the last one whom I saw doing like this was Ibn 'Umar. And he did not break it (the Hajj) after performing 'Umra. And Ibn 'Umar is with them. Why don't they ask him (to testify it)? And none amongst those who had passed away commenced (the rituals of Hajj) but by circumambulating the Ka'ba on their (first arrival) and they did not put off Ihram (without completing the Hajj), and I saw my mother and my aunt commencing (their Hajj) with the circumambulation of the House, and they did not put off Ihram. My mother informed me that she came and her sister, and Zubair and so and so for 'Umra, and when they had kissed the corner (the Black Stone, after Sa'i and circumambulation), they put off Ihram. And he (the 'Iraqi) has told a lie in this matter. (Using translation from Muslim 1235)
اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ وَمَا شَأْنُ أَسْمَاءَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ فَعَلَا ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ فَجِئْتُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا؟ فَقُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَمَا بَالُهُ لَا يَأْتِينِي لَيَسْأَلَنِي أَظُنُّهُ عِرَاقِيًّا قُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَإِنْ قَدْ كَذَبَ قَدْ حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ ؓ أَنَّ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ حِينَ قَدِمَ مَكَّةَ أَنَّهُ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ حَجَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ ؓ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ حَجَّ عُثْمَانُ ؓ فَرَأَيْتُهُ أَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ حَجَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِّ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارَ يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ آخِرُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْقُضْهَا بِعُمْرَةٍ وَهَذَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ عِنْدَهُمْ أَفَلَا يَسْأَلُونَهُ؟ وَلَا أَحَدَ مِمَّنْ مَضَى مَا كَانُوا يَبْدَأُونَ بِشَيْءٍ حِينَ يَضَعُونَ أَقْدَامَهُمْ أَوَّلَ مِنَ الطَّوَافِ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَا يَحِلُّونَ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أُمِّي وَخَالَتِي حِينَ تَقْدَمَانِ لَا تَبْدَآنِ بِشَيْءٍ أَوَّلَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ تَطُوفَانِ بِهِ ثُمَّ لَا تَحِلَّانِ وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمِّي أَنَّهَا أَقْبَلَتْ هِيَ وَأُخْتُهَا وَالزُّبَيْرُ وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَطُّ فَلَمَّا مَسَحُوا الرُّكْنَ حَلُّوا وَقَدْ كَذَبَ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
[Machine] From the saying of Allah, "And then let them go to their place of hateem" [Surah Al-Hajj: 33], I said, what is meant by that is after recognizing the hateem. Ibn Abbas said, it means after recognizing and before recognizing, and he took that from the order that the Prophet ﷺ gave to his companions when he commanded them to make their way towards the Farewell Hajj.
مِنْ قَوْلِ اللهِ ﷻ {ثُمَّ مَحِلُّهَا إِلَى الْبَيْتِ الْعَتِيقِ} [الحج 33] قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ بَعْدَ الْمُعَرَّفِ قَالَ فَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْمُعَرَّفِ وَقَبْلَهُ وَكَانَ يَأْخُذُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَصْحَابَهُ حِينَ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَحِلُّوا فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ
While I was sitting in the company of Ibn 'Umar, a person came to him and said: Is it right for me to circumambulate the House before I come to stay (at 'Arafat)? Ibn 'Umar said: Yes. whereupon he said: Ibn Abbas, however, says: Do not circumambulate the House until you come to stay at 'Arafat. Thereupon Ibn 'Umar said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ Performed the Hajj and circumambulated the House before coming to stay (at 'Arafat). If you say the Truth, is it more rightful to follow the saying of the Prophet ﷺ or the words of Ibn Abbas? (Using translation from Muslim 1233a)
ابْنُ عُمَرَ ؓ قَدْ حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْمَوْقِفَ فَيَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ أَوْ بِقَوْلِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا

١٢۔١٤٣ بَابُ طَوَافِ النِّسَاءِ مَعَ الرِّجَالِ
Umm Salamah said I complained to the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ that I was ill. He said “Perform the circumambulation riding behind the people”. She said “I performed circumambulation and the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ was praying towards the side of the House(the Ka’bah) and reciting “by al Tur and a Book inscribed”.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1882)
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ شَكَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنِّي أَشْتَكِي قَالَ طُوفِي مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّاسِ وَأَنْتِ رَاكِبَةً قَالَتْ فَطُفْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَئِذٍ يُصَلِّي إِلَى جَنْبِ الْبَيْتِ يَقْرَأُ بِ الطُّورِ وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ
Ibn Juraij said, " ʿAta informed us that when Ibn Hisham forbade women to perform Tawaf with men he said to him, 'How do you forbid them while the wives of the Prophet ﷺ used to perform Tawaf with the men?' I said, 'Was this before decreeing of the use of the veil or after it? ʿAta took an oath and said, 'I saw it after the order of veil.' I said, 'How did they mix with the men?' ʿAta said, 'The women never mixed with the men, and ʿA'ishah used to perform Tawaf separately and never mixed with men. Once it happened that ʿA'ishah was performing the Tawaf and woman said to her, 'O Mother of believers! Let us touch the Black stone.' ʿA'ishah said to her, 'Go yourself,' and she herself refused to do so. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ used to come out in night, in disguise and used to perform Tawaf with men. But whenever they intended to enter the Kaʿbah, they would stay outside till the men had gone out. I and ʿUbaid bin ʿUmair used to visit ʿA'ishah while she was residing at Jauf Thabir." I asked, "What was her veil?" ʿAta said, "She was wearing an old Turkish veil, and that was the only thing (veil) which was screen between us and her. I saw a pink cover on her." وَقَدْ طَافَ نِسَاءُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قُلْتُ أَبَعَدَ الْحِجَابِ أَوْ قَبْلُ؟ قَالَ إِي لَعَمْرِي لَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتُهُ بَعْدَ الْحِجَابِ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ يُخَالِطْنَ الرِّجَالَ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُخَالِطْنَ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ ؓ تَطُوفُ حَجِرَةً مِنَ الرِّجَالِ لَا تُخَالِطُهُمْ فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ انْطَلِقِي نَسْتَلِمْ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ انْطَلِقِي عَنْكِ فَأَبَتْ فَخَرَجْنَ مُتَنَكِّرَاتٍ بِاللَّيْلِ وَيَطُفْنَ مَعَ الرِّجَالِ وَلَكِنَّهُنَّ كُنَّ إِذَا دَخَلْنَ الْبَيْتَ قُمْنَ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَنْ وَأُخْرِجَ الرِّجَالُ وَكُنْتُ آتِي عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَنَا وَعُبَيْدٌ وَهِيَ مُجَاوِرَةٌ فِي جَوْفِ ثَبِيرٍ فَقُلْتُ وَمَا حِجَابُهَا؟ قَالَ هِيَ فِي قُبَّةٍ تُرْكِيَّةٍ لَهَا غِشَاءٌ وَمَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهَا غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ وَرَأَيْتُ عَلَيْهَا دِرْعًا مُوَرَّدًا

١٢۔١٤٤ بَابُ مَا يُقَالُ عِنْدَ اسْتِلَامِ الرُّكْنِ
The Prophet ﷺ wore the mantle under his right armpit with the end over his left shoulder, and touched the corner (Black Stone), then uttered "Allah is most great" and walked proudly in three circuits of circumambulation. When they (the Companions) reached the Yamani corner, and disappeared from the eyes of the Quraysh, they walked as usual; When they appeared before them, they walked proudly with rapid strides. Thereupon the Quraysh said: They look to be the deer (that are jumping). Ibn Abbas said: Hence this became the sunnah (model behaviour of the Prophet). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1889)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اضْطَبَعَ فَاسْتَلَمَ فَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ رَمَلَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ وَكَانُوا إِذَا بَلَغُوا الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ وَتَغَيَّبُوا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مَشَوْا ثُمَّ يَطْلُعُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَرْمُلُونَ تَقُولُ قُرَيْشٌ كَأَنَّهُمُ الْغِزْلَانُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً
