12. Ḥajj and ʿUmrah (19/34)
[Machine] He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to come to us with 'Ughaylimah bin Abi Al-Muttalib and we would ride on our camels and our thighs would rub against them. Then he said, "Do not throw the pebbles at the Jamarat (stone pillars) until the sun rises, and I do not think anyone will throw them until the sun rises."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Do not stone the Jamrah until the sun rises."
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to command his wives and those under his guardianship to pour blackness with the very first light of dawn and not to throw the pebble at the Jamrah (stoning pillars) except at sunrise."
12.218 [Machine] Who permitted her to throw it after midnight?
(the slave of Asma') During the night of Jam', Asma' got down at Al-Muzdalifa and stood up for (offering) the prayer and offered the prayer for some time and then asked, "O my son! Has the moon set?" I replied in the negative and she again prayed for another period and then asked, "Has the moon set?" I replied, "Yes." So she said that we should set out (for Mina), and we departed and went on till she threw pebbles at the Jamra (Jamrat-Al-ʿAqaba) and then she returned to her dwelling place and offered the morning prayer. I asked her, "O you! I think we have come (to Mina) early in the night." She replied, "O my son! Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave permission to the women to do so." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1679)
Asma' (Allah be pleased with her), as she was in the house at Muzdalifa, asked me whether the moon had set. I said: No. She prayed for some time, and again said: My son has the moon set? I said: Yes. And she said: Set forth along with me, and so we set forth until (we reached Mini) and the stoned at al-Jamra. She then prayed in her place. I said to her: Respected lady, we set forth (in the very early part of dawn) when it was dark, whereupon she said: My son, there is no harm in it; Allah's Apostle ﷺ had granted permission to women. (Using translation from Muslim 1291a)
[Machine] We used to do this during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Umm Salamah on the night of sacrifice. She stoned the Jamrah before dawn and then left. That was the day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was present. Abu Ali Al-Rudhabari informed us that Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us that Abu Dawud narrated to us that Harun ibn Abdullah narrated to us from Ibn Abi Fudayk in a similar manner.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sent a message to Umm Salamah on the Day of Sacrifice, commanding her to hasten the departure from Mina until she reaches Mecca, so that she can pray Fajr there. It was her turn to be with the Prophet, and he preferred that she be there with him. Al-Shafi'i told us that someone trustworthy from the people of the east informed him, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Zainab bint Abi Salamah, from Umm Salamah. She narrated the same hadith."
[Machine] That the messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded her to perform the Fajr prayer on the day of sacrifice in Mecca.
12.219 [Machine] Sacrifice of the Offering After Throwing the Pebbles
[Machine] Narrated Jabir regarding the Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ , he mentioned the stoning of the Jamrat al-Aqabah. Then he went to the slaughter area and slaughtered sixty-three camels. He gave Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) the command to slaughter, then added what was left for him and included him in his sacrifice. Then he commanded that a piece be taken from every camel, which was put in a pot and cooked. They both ate from its meat and drank from its soup.

[Machine] Naafi' said, "Ibn Umar used to say, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaved his head during the Farewell Hajj.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaved his head, and a group of his companions also shaved theirs, while some of them merely shortened their hair. Ibn Umar said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'May Allah have mercy on those who shave their heads once or twice.' Then he said, 'And may Allah have mercy on those who only shorten their hair.'"
“May Allah have mercy on those who shave (their heads).” They said: “And those who cut (their hair), O Messenger of Allah!” He said: “May Allah have mercy on those who shave (their heads).” They said: “And those who cut (their hair), O Messenger of Allah!” He said: “May Allah have mercy on those who shave (their heads).” They said: “And those who cut (their hair), O Messenger of Allah!” He said: “And those who cut (their hair).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3044)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, and those who trim their hair?" He said, "O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, and those who trim their hair?" He said, "O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads." They said, "And those who trim their hair?" He said, "And those who trim their hair."

12.221 [Machine] The beginning with the right side, then with the left side
When Messenger of Allah ﷺ had thrown pebbles at the Jamra and had sacrificed the animal, he turned (the right side) of his head towards the barber, and i. e shaved it. He then called Abu Talha al-Ansari and gave it to him. He then turned his left side and asked him (the barber) to shave. And he (the barber) shaved. and gave it to Abu Talha and told him to distribute it amongst the people. (Using translation from Muslim 1305d)
12.222 [Machine] Who dressed, braided, or shaved their head?
[Machine] Abdullah bin Umar used to say: Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed me that the Prophet ﷺ ordered his wives to assume the state of ihram for the farewell Hajj. Hafsah asked him, "What prevents you from assuming ihram?" He replied, "I have already shaved my head and slaughtered my sacrificial animal, so I will not assume ihram until I perform another sacrifice." This narration is mentioned in Sahih from the hadith of Nafi' and we have also narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he shaved his head during the farewell Hajj.
[Machine] "Whoever shaves his head for the pilgrimage, it becomes obligatory for him to perform the ritual of Halq (complete head shaving). Abdullah ibn Nafi’ said, 'This is not a strong and authentic statement. It is known that it is attributed to Umar and Ibn Umar.'"
[Machine] And Abdullah bin Umar used to say: "I have indeed seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing a garment." And Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz told us, Abu Muhammad Al-Muzani narrated it to me, and he mentioned it.
[Machine] Whoever dances, braids or shaves, it is obligatory for him to perform the ritual shaving.
[Machine] "Whoever grows long hair, braids it, or shaves it off, then let him cut it. This is the correct narration from Abdullah, from Ibn Umar, from Umar, from his statement."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , anyone who lets their hair grow long should shave it, as the act of shaving has become obligatory upon them. Abu Sa'ad Al-Sufi informed us that Abu Ahmad ibn Adi narrated to us, who was informed by Ahmad ibn Ali Al-Madaini, who was informed by Yunus ibn Abdul A'la, who informed me Abdullah ibn Nafi' through Asim. And Asim ibn Umar is weak and this hadith cannot be considered as elevated in status.
[Machine] Whoever trims or braids or ties something or unties or permutes hair, then he is in accordance with his intention in doing that. He (Prophet Muhammad) said, and Ibn 'Umar said: "Shaving is obligatory."
12.223 [Machine] What is permissible by the first act of removing prohibited acts of Ihram?
[Machine] "When it is morning and if God wills, you have completed the gathering, then whoever throws the pebbles at the Jamrat al-Aqaba with seven stones and leaves, then sacrifices a sacrificial animal if he can afford it, and then shaves or shortens the hair, then he has performed all that is prohibited for him during the rites of Hajj except for wearing pleasant scents or being intimate with women. No one should come in contact with pleasant scents or women until he circumambulates the Ka'bah."
[Machine] Allah, may He be exalted, said: "When you throw the pebbles at the Jamarat with seven pebbles, and you have slaughtered and shaved your heads, then everything is permissible for you except women and perfume." Salim stated that Aisha said, "Everything became permissible for him except women." He said, "And Aisha also said, 'I prepared (perfumed) the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , for his ihram.'"
[Machine] "And I am asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the legality and obligation of it. Salim said, 'The Sunnah (way) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ deserves to be followed.'"
[Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would perfume himself when entering Ihram and would put on fragrance when exiting it before circumambulating the Kaaba."
[Machine] I purified the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my own hands using a bunch of leaves during the Farewell Pilgrimage for removing impurities and entering into the state of Ihram. They mentioned this in the authentic hadith from the narration of Ibn Juraij.
[Machine] I used to perfum the Prophet ﷺ in his Ihram before he put on Ihram, and on the day of slaughter before he circled the Ka'bah with a scent that contained musk.
[Machine] "If you have thrown the pebble, then you have been absolved of everything that was prohibited for you, except for women, until you complete the circumambulation of the Kaaba." A man then asked, "O Abu al-Abbas, what about the fragrance?" He replied, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ anointing his head with musk, so is it fragrance or not?" This is the wording of the hadith of Ibn Wahb.
[Machine] If you throw and shave, then you have completed the rites of Hajj, and everything is permitted for you except women. This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr from Yazid ibn Harun, and he added: "And if you slaughter, then everything is permitted for you except women." This was reported by Abu Al-Hasan ibn Al-Siqaa and Abu Al-Hasan Al-Muqri, who said that Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed them, who narrated it from Yusuf ibn Ya'qub, who narrated it from Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, who mentioned it and said: "It was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ. And this is one of the fabrications of Al-Hajjaj ibn Arta'ah, and the hadith is actually about performing 'Umrah and was narrated from 'Aisha, regarding the Prophet ﷺ."

[Machine] I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his state of consecration, and I perfumed him before he overflowed with the best scent I found.
[Machine] The night in which the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , made his way to Mina on the evening of the Day of Sacrifice, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was in my company. Wahb bin Zam'ah and a man from the Banu Abi Umayyah, who both had their heads shaved, entered. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to them, "Have you already shaved?" They replied, "No." He then said, "Take off your clothes." So they took them off. Wahb then asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "This is a day in which I am preparing you. Once you throw the pebbles at the Jamrat and perform the sacrifice, everything that was prohibited for you becomes permissible, except for women, until you perform Tawaf around the Ka'bah. Once it is evening and you have not performed Sa'y (between Safa and Marwah), you will return to the state of prohibition as you were before, until you perform Tawaf around the Ka'bah."

[Machine] It was the night on which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to come to me, meaning the evening of the day of sacrifice. So he came to me and Wahb bin Zam'ah entered with him, accompanied by a man from the family of Abu Umayyah, wearing a garment. The Prophet ﷺ said to Wahb, "Have you shaved your head, O Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then take off your garment." So he took it off his head and the companion of Wahb also took off his garment from his head. They asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "This is a day that has been made lawful for you. When you stone the Jamrah, you are permitted to do everything that was forbidden to you, except for women. But if you happen to start the night before you circumambulate the Ka'bah, you will become unlawful like you were before stoning the Jamrah, until you complete the circumambulation." Abu 'Ubaidah said, "Umm Qais bint Muhsin told me. She was their neighbor. She said, 'Ukkashah bin Muhsin came out from my house, accompanied by some people from the tribe of Asad, wearing garments, on the evening of the day of sacrifice. Then they returned to me at night, carrying their garments on their hands.' So I asked, 'Ukkashah, why did you go out wearing garments, and then you returned to me carrying your garments?' He said, 'O Umm Qais, this was a day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made things permissible for us. When we stone the Jamrah, we are allowed to do everything that was forbidden to us, except for women. But if we reach the night and have not yet completed circumambulation, we put our garments on our hands like this.'"

12.224 [Machine] Performing the Rami of Al-Aqaba with the First Pebble
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ continued to perform the ritual of stoning the Jamrah.
[Machine] I accompanied the Prophet ﷺ from Arafat, and he continued to perform the talbiyah until he threw the pebbles at the Jamrat al-Aqabah. He would say the takbeer with each pebble and then stop the talbiyah after the last pebble. The Sheikh said: His takbeer with each pebble is like a signal for him to stop the talbiyah after the first pebble, as we have narrated in the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud when he said: "He continues to perform the talbiyah until he throws the pebbles at the Jamrat." Regarding the narration of Fadl ibn Abbas's additional statement, it is considered strange and was narrated by Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaymah, who chose it, but it is not among the well-known narrations from Ibn Abbas regarding Fadl ibn Abbas. Allah knows best.
[Machine] Did people ignore or forget? And the one who sent Muhammad ﷺ with the truth, I indeed went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Mina to Arafat, and he did not abandon the talbiyah until he stoned the pillars except with the takbeer or the chanting, and we have narrated the meaning of this in a concise hadith narrated by Abdur-Rahman ibn Yazid from Abdullah ibn Masood.
Nafi' said: Ibn Umar used to lengthen his prayer before the Friday prayer and would offer two rak'ahs after it in his house. He used to say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would do that. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1128)
[Machine] Ali fulfilled his obligations, even until he threw the pebbles at Al-Aqaba, and we have narrated that from a group of companions, and it has been mentioned before.
12.225 [Machine] The descent to Mina.
[Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The Prophet ﷺ addressed the people in Mina and ordered them to descend to their designated places. He said, 'Let the emigrants (Muhajirun) descend here,' and he pointed to the right of the Qibla. He then said, 'Let the Ansar (Helpers) descend here,' and he pointed to the left of the Qibla. Then the people descended around them, just as I have recorded in my book from a man who was present."
‘I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should we not build you a house in Mina?’ He said: ‘No, Mina is just a stopping place for those who get there first.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3006)
[Machine] "Is there anything else?" I said, "No, He has not revealed anything else to me." Abdullah bin Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If you are between Al-Akhsabayn (two rocky mountainous paths) in Mina and you point towards the east with your hand, there is a valley called Al-Surur. Underneath it are seventy prophets.'"

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon on the day of sacrifice when a man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I thought that such and such was the case before this and that." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I thought that such and such was the case before this and that for these three." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do as you please, there is no objection." 9612 Abu Abdullah Abu Abdullah Ash-Sha'ibani informed us that Ibrahim ibn Ishaq narrated to us from Harun ibn Abdullah, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Bakr, who narrated from Ibn Jurayj and mentioned it in its meaning.

The Prophet ﷺ delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day today?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said, "Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We replied: "Yes! It is." He further asked, "What town is this?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No doubt, your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you? They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1741)
