25. Chapter of Mīm (Male) (15/33)
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said to him, "Tell me about a deed that will admit me into Jannah (Paradise) if I do it." He said, "You have asked about a great matter, yet it is easy for one for whom Allah makes it easy. Perform the obligatory prayers perfectly, give the obligatory Zakah, and do not associate anything with Allah in worship."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "The Milky Way in the sky is the sweat of the snake beneath the throne."
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to send Mu'adh to Yemen, he consulted with some of his companions, including Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, Zubayr, and Usayd ibn Hudayr. He consulted them and Abu Bakr said, "If you had not consulted us, we would not speak." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In what has not been revealed to me, I am like any one of you." So the people spoke and each person spoke his opinion. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What do you think, Mu'adh?" Mu'adh said, "I see what Abu Bakr said." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Above the heavens, Allah dislikes Abu Bakr being wrong."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to perform ablution once, twice, or three times, and he used to do all of that.
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to perform the ritual ablution (wudu) with sand, and I never saw him wipe his hands and face except for once."
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping his face with the edge of his garment during ablution.
[Machine] That the Prophet (PBUH) recited it as "Can your Lord".
[Machine] "We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaibar and we obtained some wealth, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed a portion of it among us. We were pleased with that and he left the rest as spoils of war."
[Machine] That the prophet ﷺ used to urge his companions to engage in combat.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed among us the livestock of Khaybar. Some remnants of it remained, so he sold them and put the proceeds into the shares."
[Machine] The Prophet passed by me while I was slaughtering a sheep, and he said to me, "O Mu'adh, bring it to me or show it to me." So I presented it to him, and he inserted his fingers twice between the meat and the skin, and then he said, "O Mu'adh, like this." Then he went on to pray.
[Machine] Whichever part of the day you want to, whether it be the morning or the evening, I said: surely people detest it in the evening. He asked why, I said: They say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The smell of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasing to Allah than the scent of musk." He said, "Subhan Allah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded them to use the siwak when he commanded them, knowing that there must be something in the mouth of the fasting person that needs to be removed, even if it is perfectly clean. He did not command them to rinse their mouths diligently. There is no goodness in that, rather it is evil, except for the person who has been afflicted with a disease that does not allow him to do that." I said, "Is it the same for walking in the dust for the sake of Allah? Only the one who is forced to do it and does not find any other means of protection will be rewarded." He said, "Yes, as for the one who knowingly exposes himself to hardship, he will have no reward for that."
[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ only commanded ablution as a means of cleansing, which includes washing the hands and mouth, and it is not obligatory.
25.275 [Machine] Worship of Ibn Nasi, from Abdul Rahman Ibn Ghanm, from Mu'adh.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a pregnant woman is intentionally killed, she is not to be killed until she gives birth and is provided for. And if she commits adultery, she is not to be stoned to death until she gives birth and is provided for."
25.276 [Machine] Isma'il ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn Abi al-Muhajir, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm
[Machine] "From the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: Whoever recites the Quran and acts upon what is in it, and dies while in the congregation, Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Judgment with the travelers and the rulers. And whoever recites the Quran but is negligent with it, not giving it its due importance, he will be rewarded for it twice. And whoever desires to recite it but is unable to, and does not leave it, Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Judgment with the nobles of his people, and they will be preferred over the rest of creation, just as eagles are preferred over other birds, and as an eye is preferred in a meadow over what is around it. Then a caller will call out, 'Where are those who were not distracted by the grazing of livestock from reciting My Book?' So they will rise, and one of them will be adorned with the crown of honor, and given victory with his right hand and eternity with his left. And if his parents were Muslims, they will be clothed with garments better than what is in this world and what it contains, and they will say, 'How is this for us?' And it will be said, 'Because your child used to recite the Quran.'"

[Machine] While we were riding with the Prophet ﷺ, his camel went ahead and then my camel caught up with his until I thought that his camel knew the way and was following mine, to the point that our knees touched. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you something repeatedly, but the verse {O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you} prevents me from doing so." He said, "What is it, Mu'adh?" I said, "The deed that will admit me into Paradise and keep me away from the Fire." He said, "You have asked about something great, yet it is easy for him for whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish prayer, give charity, perform Hajj to the House of Allah, and fast during Ramadan." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you of the foundation of all of this?" I said, "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He took hold of his tongue and said, "Restrain this." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be held accountable for what we say?" He said, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Mu'adh! Are people thrown into the Hellfire on their faces or on their noses for anything other than the harvest of their tongues?" He continued, "You have asked about something that is within the reach of many people. However, only a few of them do it. Many will invoke Allah, but few will respond to Him. Will I not inform you of that which encompasses all of that?" I said, "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He took hold of his tongue and said, "Restrain this." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be held accountable for what we say?" He said, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Mu'adh! Are people thrown into the Hellfire on their faces or on their noses for anything other than the harvest of their tongues?"

[Machine] That the messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A person will be with those whom he loves."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands parallel to his ears when he started his prayer. Then, when he said the takbeer, he would send them downwards. Sometimes, I would see him resting his right hand on his left hand. When he finished reciting the opening chapter of the Quran, he would become silent. And when he finished reciting a whole chapter, he would become silent as well. Then he would raise his hands parallel to his ears, say the takbeer, and bow. We would not bow until we saw him bowing. Then he would straighten up from the bow until every limb was in its proper place. Then he would raise his hands parallel to his ears, say the takbeer, and prostrate. He would place his forehead and nose on the ground. Then he would rise up as if he were an arrow, not relying on his hands. When he sat in the final part of his prayer, he would lean on his left thigh and place his right hand on his right thigh. He would point with his index finger when making supplications. And when he said the final salutation, he would rise quickly.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rode on a donkey called Ya'foor, and its reins were made of leather. He said, "Get on, O Mu'adh." I said quietly, "Should I ride behind you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Get on." So, he made me sit behind him, and the donkey stumbled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and then rode for the second time, saying, "Get on." So, I rode and the donkey went on as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back with a whip or a stick that he had with him and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right Allah has over His slaves?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His slaves is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." Then, he continued riding as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back again and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right the slaves have over Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the slaves over Allah is that He admits them to Jannah (Paradise) if they do that."
[Machine] While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we participated in the Battle of Tabuk. One night, he called for his camel and we joined him. Then, he performed the Fajr prayer and we prayed with him. After that, he mounted his camel and we accompanied him. The Prophet ﷺ began to walk and his companions and camels dispersed. The camels were grazing with their mouths upon the ground and he wore a red garment from Najran. I saw a group of people surrounding the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sleeping. I thought that they were going to take action against him. As I was in that state, my camel neighed, causing them to spoil their plan and flee. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up and turned around. He saw me and said, "O Mu'adh!" I replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah." He said, "Come." So, I approached him. He said this three times while I kept coming closer until the two riding animals almost collided. Then, Mu'adh said, "There is a word in my heart that has taken hold of me and made me sick. I did not ask you about it nor did I hear anyone else ask you about it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ask me about it." Mu'adh said, "Inform me, O Messenger of Allah, about an action that will admit me into Jannah and distance me from the Fire." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have asked about something great, yet it is easy for the one for whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish the prayer, give the Zakat, and perform Hajj to the House (i.e., Kaaba)."

[Machine] While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we went to Tabuk, and my camel stumbled one night. We stumbled with him, then he prayed Fajr, and we prayed with him. Then he set out and we set out with him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued until the companions and camels scattered. The camels were feeding themselves and behind him was a Najrani cloak. I caught sight of a ring on the Prophet's camel while he was asleep, and I thought that it would fall off him. As I was thinking like that, my camel neighed, causing the Prophet's camel to startle. The Prophet ﷺ woke up, looked around and saw me, so he said: "O Muadh." I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Come closer." So I drew nearer. He repeated that three times, so I kept drawing nearer until the two riding mounts were almost touching. Then Muadh said: "I have a word in my heart that has taken hold of me and made me anxious, I have not asked you about it, and I have not heard anyone else ask you about it." He said: "Ask me, O Muadh." He said: "Tell me, O Messenger of Allah, concerning an action which will admit me to Paradise." He said: "You have asked about a great matter, yet it is easy for him whom Allah Almighty makes it easy for: Worship Allah, associating nothing with Him, establish the prayer, give the Zakah, and do good to your parents."

[Machine] To give people what they deserve and to respect them while doing so. While he was giving people their dues, a man from the people of the desert came and said, "O Mu'adh, appoint me as a mayor (of the people of the desert) as I am from such and such a place. Perhaps I will be able to return to my people before nightfall." Mu'adh replied, "No, I swear by Allah, I will not give you (authority) until I give the people of this city (their rights) first." This means the people of the city. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "All the Prophets will enter Paradise before Sulaiman bin Dawud by forty years, and the poor Muslims will enter Paradise before their rich counterparts by forty years, and the righteous slaves will enter Paradise before others by forty years, and the people of the cities will enter Paradise before the people of the deserts by forty years, due to the blessings of cities, congregations, gatherings, and circles of remembrance. And when there is a calamity, they are secluded for it apart from others."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Glad tidings to those who engage in jihad in the cause of Allah more than they remember Allah, for every word they say, they will receive seventy thousand good deeds, and each good deed is multiplied ten times over for the one who has it with Allah. It was said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about the expenditure?' He said, 'The expenditure is equivalent to that.' Abdul Rahman said, 'So I said to Muadh, "The expenditure is only seven hundred times?" Muadh said, "Say what you understand. That is only when they spend it while they are resident in their families, not when they are on a military expedition and spend it. Allah has stored for them from the treasures of His mercy what the knowledge and description of people cannot comprehend. Those are the party of Allah, and the party of Allah, they are the predominant ones.'"

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, from Abu Hazim ibn Dinar, from Abu Idrees al-Khawlani, that he said: "I entered the mosque in Damascus, and there I saw a young man, tall and silent. When people differed in something, they would refer to him and accept his opinion. I asked about him, and it was said that he was Muadh bin Jabal. The next day, I left and found him already ahead of me in migration. I found him praying, so I waited until he finished his prayer, then I approached him from his front side and greeted him. I said, 'I swear by Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah.' He asked, 'By Allah?' I said, 'By Allah.' He asked, 'By Allah?' I said, 'By Allah.' He asked, 'By Allah?' I said, 'By Allah.' He then grabbed the edge of my garment and pulled me towards him, and said, 'Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Allah said, 'My love is obligatory for those who love each other for My sake, and sit together for My sake, and spend on each other for My sake, and visit each other for My sake.'"

[Machine] I entered the mosque of Homs and found men discussing the Prophet ﷺ with stories about him. Among them was a young man, distinguished by his radiant countenance. Whenever he spoke, everyone listened attentively, and when he expressed an opinion, they were pleased with his words. This young man was Mu'adh ibn Jabal, so we sat with him, and I said to him, "I truly love you." He took hold of my collar and pulled me toward him until my knee touched his knee. Then he said, "Shall I inform you of something that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, which was transmitted to him from Allah? He said, 'My love is obligated for those who love one another for my sake, who sit together for my sake, who visit each other for my sake, and who sacrifice for one another for my sake.'"

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who narrated from Allah ﷻ, he said: "My love is obligatory upon those who love one another, sit together, and spend for My sake."

So I got up from there and went to Ubada ibn As-Samit, and Ubada said to me, "What is better than that? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'My love is due to those who love each other for my sake, and my love is due to those who sit with each other for my sake, and my love is due to those who visit each other for my sake.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless a servant who hears my words and does not add anything to them. Indeed, there may be someone who understands a religious knowledge better than the one who carries it."
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, teach me a deed that if I do it, I will enter Paradise." He said, "Do not associate partners with Allah, even if you are burned, and obey your parents, even if they take your wealth. And do not drink alcohol, for it is the key to every evil. Do not intentionally abandon prayer, for whoever intentionally abandons prayer, Allah will have no obligation towards him. Do not dispute with those in authority, and if you find that you have wealth, spend it on your family. And do not raise your stick against them, and treat them kindly for the sake of Allah. Do not turn your back on the enemy."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The first thing that my Lord forbade me from after the worship of idols is drinking alcohol and being intimate with men."
[Machine] On the Day of Judgment, the scribe, the one with intellect, and the one doomed to destruction will be brought forward. The scribe will say, "Oh Lord, had You given me intelligence, he whom You favored with intelligence would not have been happier with his intellect than me." And the one doomed to destruction will say, "Oh Lord, had You given me a longer life, he whom You favored with a longer life would not have been happier with his lifespan than me." And the one doomed to destruction in infancy will say, "Oh Lord, had You sent a messenger to me, he whom You favored with Your covenant would not have been happier with Your covenant than me." Then the Lord will say, "Indeed, I command you with a command. Will you willingly obey Me?" They will say, "Yes, by Your honor, Oh Lord." So He will say, "Go then, enter Hellfire, and if they enter, it will not harm them in the least." Then obligations from the fire will come upon them, and they will think that they have destroyed everything that Allah has created. Then He will command them a second time, and they will return in the same manner. So the Lord will say, "I created you with My knowledge, and you will return to My knowledge." And then the fire will seize them.
“Shall I not tell you about the kings of Paradise?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘A weak and oppressed man who wears tattered clothes and is not paid any heed. If he swears (an oath) by Allah, Allah fulfills it.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4115)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned one day the trials and tribulations and emphasized their severity. Ali ibn Abi Talib asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the way out of them?" He ﷺ replied, "The Book of Allah contains narrations of what happened before you, news of what will come after you, and the clarification of the differences among you. Whoever abandons it will be defeated by Allah, and whoever follows guidance other than it will be led astray by Allah. It is the strong rope of Allah, the wise reminder, and the straight path. When the jinn heard it, they said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an.' It is something that tongues do not differ on, nor can a multitude of people bring forth its equal."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "O Allah, whoever believes in me, confirms my truthfulness, and testifies that what I have brought is the truth, then decrease his wealth and children and hasten his death towards You. And whoever does not believe in me, or confirm my truthfulness, and knows that what I have brought is the truth from You, then increase his wealth and children and prolong his life."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "Whoever feeds a believer until he is full from hunger, Allah will admit him through one of the gates of Paradise, which none will enter except those who are like him."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Paradise is not permissible for a disobedient person, and whoever meets Allah having broken his allegiance will meet Him while he is stubborn. And whoever separates from the community, even slightly, while deliberately doing so, has removed the bond of Islam from his neck. And whoever dies without an imam of the community, there is no obedience for him, and he dies the death of ignorance."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The traitor's flag on the Day of Judgment will be at his buttocks."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was shown that I and my Ummah were placed on one side of the scale, and it tipped. Then Abu Bakr was placed on one side of the scale, and it tipped. Then Umar was placed on one side of the scale, and it tipped. Then Uthman was placed on one side of the scale, and it tipped. Then the scale was raised."

[Machine] Twelve of them left their father in their house, the youngest of them who had gathered his beard. So, she stood up and greeted Mu'adh and two men from her sons holding her finger and she said, "Who sent you, O man?" Mu'adh said to her, "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sent me." The woman said, "The Messenger of Allah sent you and you are the Messenger of the Messenger of Allah? Won't you tell me, O Messenger of the Messenger of Allah, the rights of a man upon his wife?" Mu'adh said, "She should fear Allah as much as she can, and she should listen and obey." The woman said, "I swear by Allah, I will insist that you tell me the rights of a man upon his wife." So, Mu'adh said to her, "Didn't you agree to listen and obey and fear Allah?" She said, "Yes, but I left an old man as a sheikh in the house." Mu'adh said, "By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Mu'adh, if you return to him and find leprosy has pierced his flesh and has come out of his nostrils, and you find his nostrils running with pus and blood, then throw them (the rights of a man upon his wife) into the basket so that you may fulfill his rights as you did before."

[Machine] I came to the mosque of Damascus and there was a group of companions of Muhammad ﷺ , and among them was a young man with intense black eyes and a radiant face. Whenever they disagreed about something, they would refer it to the young man. So, I asked my companion, "Who is this?" He said, "This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Those who love each other for the sake of Allah will be upon pulpits of light, under the shade of the Throne of the Most Merciful on a day when there is no shade except His shade.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Those who love each other for the sake of Allah will be in the shade of the Throne on a day when there is no shade except His shade. They will be on pulpits of light and will be envied by the Prophets and the truthful (Siddeeqeen)."
25.284 [Machine] Mu'adh suffers from depression.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "The most fearful thing I fear for my nation are three: a man who reads the Book of Allah until you see joy on his face and he is adorned with the garment of Islam, and then Allah takes it away from him, causing him to draw his sword against his neighbor and accuse him of shirk (associating partners with Allah). It was said: O Messenger of Allah, who is more deserving of this accusation, the one who throws or the one who is being thrown at? He said: The one who throws. And a man to whom Allah has given authority, so he says: Whoever obeys me has obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys me has disobeyed Allah. And a man who is misled by the Hadiths, and whenever he cuts off one of its branches, he invents a longer one. If the Antichrist (Dajjal) appears, he will follow him."
