Crying is from Satan

tabarani:17440Abū Zurʿah ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAmr > Abū al-Yamān > Ṣafwān b. ʿAmr > Rāshid b. Saʿd > ʿĀṣim b. Ḥumayd > Muʿādh b. Jabal

that when he (the Prophet ﷺ) sent him to Yemen, he left along with him advising him. Muʿādh was riding while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking ˹next˺ to his ride. When they were done ˹reaching the farewell point˺, he said, "O Muʿādh, it may be that you you may not meet me after this year of mine and that you may walk by my Masjid and my grave." Muʿādh b. Jabal then started to cry out of sadness to part from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Don't cry O Muʿādh for the crying ˹loudly˺ is from Satan."
