tabarani:17270ʿAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal from my father > Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm > Yūnus b. ʿUbayd > Ḥumayd b. Hilāl > Hiṣṣān b. Kāhil

[Machine] I entered the Grand Mosque in Basra and sat next to an old man with white hair and beard. He said to me, "Mu'adh bin Jabal told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Any soul that dies while testifying that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, Allah will forgive them.' " I asked him, "Did you hear this from Mu'adh bin Jabal?" The people became aggressive towards me, but he said, "Don't be aggressive towards him or blame him. Leave him alone. I heard this from Mu'adh bin Jabal, who heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." I asked the people, "Who is this?" They said, "Abdul Rahman bin Samurah."

tabarani:17273Abū Muslim al-Kashhī > Muʿādh b. ʿAwdh Allāh > Sulaymān al-Taymī > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went out with Mu'adh bin Jabal to the gate, and when he saw him, he said, "O Mu'adh!" Mu'adh replied, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said, "Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." Mu'adh asked, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people?" The Prophet said, "Leave them to compete in good deeds, for I fear that they may depend on them (the information) and not strive in worshipping Allah."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not give the people the glad tidings?" He said, "I fear that they may rely on it [i.e., on entering Paradise without doing good deeds]."

[Machine] I heard him saying, "Verily, Mu'adh was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he said to him, 'Give glad tidings to the people that whoever dies without associating partners with Allah will enter Paradise.'"

tabarani:17276Bakr b. Muqbil > Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm from my father > Shuʿbah > ʿAttāb a freed slave of Hurmuz a man from Ahl Wāsiṭ > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] On the authority of 'Attab bin Moulla Hurmuz, a man from the people of Wasit, who reported from Anas bin Malik that he said: "I gave allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my hand upon this (hand) for hearing and obedience in what I am capable of. And I heard him narrating that Mu'adh bin Jabal was next to the Prophet ﷺ . So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Give glad tidings to the people that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.' Mu'adh said: 'O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't I tell the people about this?' He said: 'I fear that they will rely on it too much.'"

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Muslimah al-Qa'nabi narrated that Salamah ibn Wardan narrated from Anas ibn Malik that he heard him say, "Mu'adh ibn Jabal came to me, so I asked him, 'Where did you come from, O Mu'adh?' He said, 'I came from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ.' So I asked him, 'What did he say to you?' He said, 'Whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, sincerely, will enter Paradise.' So I said, 'Should I go and ask the Prophet ﷺ?' Mu'adh said, 'Yes, go.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Prophet of Allah, Mu'adh ibn Jabal informed me that you said, 'Whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, sincerely, will enter Paradise.' He replied, 'Mu'adh has spoken the truth, Mu'adh has spoken the truth, Mu'adh has spoken the truth.'"

[Machine] I was in a row behind the Prophet ﷺ and there was nothing between him and me except the saddles. He said to me, "O Mu'adh!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right Allah has over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His servants is that they should worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he rode for a while and said, "O Mu'adh bin Jabal!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right the servants have over Allah if they do this?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants over Allah is that He will not punish them."
