25.192 [Machine] Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman reports from Muawiyah ibn al-Hakam.

tabarani:17047Aḥmad b. ʿAmr al-Khallāl al-Makkī > Abū Marwān al-ʿUthmānī > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh from my cousin al-Zuhrī from his uncle > Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman

[Machine] About Muawiyah ibn al-Hakam, like the hadith of Malik, "In the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ, there were eleven units of prayer, and he lay on his right side."

tabarani:17048Abū Shuʿayb ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarrānī > Yaḥyá b. ʿAbdullāh al-Bābluttī > al-Awzāʿī > Yaḥyá b. Abū Kathīr > Hilāl b. Abū Maymūnah > ʿAṭāʾ b. Yasār > Muʿāwiyah b. al-Ḥakam al-Sulamī

[Machine] I set out to a flock that belonged to me in the vicinity of Uhud and Al-Jawwaniyah. I found a wolf had attacked one of the sheep. As a human being from the children of Adam, I felt remorse just as they would. So, I struck the wolf with a blow and then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. He praised me for it and I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not free her?" He said, "Yes, bring her to me." So, I brought her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he asked, "Where is Allah?" She replied, "In the heavens." He asked, "Who am I?" She said, "You are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said, "Indeed, she is a believer, so set her free."

[Machine] I said to the Prophet ﷺ , "I have a young servant who used to tend to my livestock in the area of Uhud. When I looked after the livestock, I saw a wolf had taken one of the sheep. I felt great remorse, similar to how the children of Adam feel remorse. So, I hit her with a blow. This greatly upset the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so I asked, 'Should I set her free?' He said, 'Bring her to me.' So, I brought her to him. He asked her, 'Where is Allah?' She replied, 'In the sky.' He asked, 'Who am I?' She replied, 'The Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Set her free, for indeed she is a believer.'"

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, among us are individuals who have seizures." He said, "That is something you find within yourselves, so it does not harm you." I said, "And among us are individuals who visit fortune-tellers." He said, "Do not visit them." I said, "And among us are individuals who write poetry." He said, "The Prophet David used to write poetry, so whoever's knowledge coincides with it, he knows."

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we were in a state of ignorance and then Allah brought Islam to us. However, some of us have bad omens." He said, "That is something that they find in their hearts, so do not prevent them." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, some of us go to the fortune-tellers." He said, "No, do not go to them." I said, "And some of us write down things." He said, "The Prophet of the prophets used to write, so whoever coincides with his writing, that is acceptable."

He said, "Don't seek their help." I said, "And among us are men who believe in omens." He said, "That is something they find in their hearts, it does not harm them." I said, "And among us are men who draw lines." He said, "There was a prophet among the prophets who used to draw lines, so whoever follows his example, that is permissible for them."

[Machine] While I was with the Prophet ﷺ , a man from the people sneezed, so I said, "May Allah have mercy on you." The people stared at me with their eyes. I said, "May their mothers be excused, why are you looking at me?" He (the Prophet) said, "The people struck their hands on their thighs." When I saw that they silenced me, I remained silent. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, I did not see a better teacher before or after him. Verily, he did not strike me, nor did he humiliate me, nor did he curse me. But he said, 'Indeed, our prayer is not for the purpose of talking to people, rather it is for glorifying Allah, praising Him, and reciting the Quran.'"

[Machine] I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and a man from the people sneezed. So I said, "May Allah have mercy on you." The people stared at me with their eyes, so I said, "Leave me alone, what is your concern in looking at me?" They began to strike their thighs with their hands, and I understood that they were trying to silence me, so I remained quiet. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished praying, he asked about Abu Huwa and my mother, saying that they did not hit me, nor humiliate me, nor curse me. Then he said, "In this prayer, there is nothing of the speech of people. It is only glorification, magnification, and recitation of the Quran," or as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.
