[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands parallel to his ears when he started his prayer. Then, when he said the takbeer, he would send them downwards. Sometimes, I would see him resting his right hand on his left hand. When he finished reciting the opening chapter of the Quran, he would become silent. And when he finished reciting a whole chapter, he would become silent as well. Then he would raise his hands parallel to his ears, say the takbeer, and bow. We would not bow until we saw him bowing. Then he would straighten up from the bow until every limb was in its proper place. Then he would raise his hands parallel to his ears, say the takbeer, and prostrate. He would place his forehead and nose on the ground. Then he would rise up as if he were an arrow, not relying on his hands. When he sat in the final part of his prayer, he would lean on his left thigh and place his right hand on his right thigh. He would point with his index finger when making supplications. And when he said the final salutation, he would rise quickly.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rode on a donkey called Ya'foor, and its reins were made of leather. He said, "Get on, O Mu'adh." I said quietly, "Should I ride behind you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Get on." So, he made me sit behind him, and the donkey stumbled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and then rode for the second time, saying, "Get on." So, I rode and the donkey went on as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back with a whip or a stick that he had with him and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right Allah has over His slaves?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His slaves is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him." Then, he continued riding as Allah willed. Then, he raised his hand and struck my back again and said, "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal, do you know what right the slaves have over Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the slaves over Allah is that He admits them to Jannah (Paradise) if they do that."

[Machine] While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we participated in the Battle of Tabuk. One night, he called for his camel and we joined him. Then, he performed the Fajr prayer and we prayed with him. After that, he mounted his camel and we accompanied him. The Prophet ﷺ began to walk and his companions and camels dispersed. The camels were grazing with their mouths upon the ground and he wore a red garment from Najran. I saw a group of people surrounding the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sleeping. I thought that they were going to take action against him. As I was in that state, my camel neighed, causing them to spoil their plan and flee. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up and turned around. He saw me and said, "O Mu'adh!" I replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah." He said, "Come." So, I approached him. He said this three times while I kept coming closer until the two riding animals almost collided. Then, Mu'adh said, "There is a word in my heart that has taken hold of me and made me sick. I did not ask you about it nor did I hear anyone else ask you about it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ask me about it." Mu'adh said, "Inform me, O Messenger of Allah, about an action that will admit me into Jannah and distance me from the Fire." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have asked about something great, yet it is easy for the one for whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish the prayer, give the Zakat, and perform Hajj to the House (i.e., Kaaba)."
