[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are a people who recently embraced Islam after the era of ignorance, and among us are men who seek the help of soothsayers." He said, "Don't seek their help." I said, "And among us are men who believe in omens." He said, "That is something they find in their hearts, it does not harm them." I said, "And among us are men who draw lines." He said, "There was a prophet among the prophets who used to draw lines, so whoever follows his example, that is permissible for them."
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِالْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَقَدْ جَاءَ اللهُ بِالْإِسْلَامِ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ قَالَ «فَلَا تَأْتُوهُمْ» قُلْتُ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ قَالَ «ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُونَهُ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ فَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ» قُلْتُ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ قَالَ «كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ فَذَاكَ»
