25. Chapter of Mīm (Male) (14/33)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sent Mu'adh bin Jabal and Abu Musa to Yemen and ordered them to teach the people the Quran. Mu'adh went to visit Abu Musa and found a man with him who was bound with iron chains. Mu'adh asked, "O brother, have we been sent to punish people or to teach them and command them with what is beneficial?" The man said, "I have embraced Islam and then rejected it. I swear by the One who sent Muhammad with the truth that I will not stop until I am burned with fire." Abu Musa said, "We have something for him." Mu'adh said, "By Allah, I will never stay away from him." So, they brought firewood and set it on fire, and threw him into it.

[Machine] A man embraced Islam and then indulged in stealing. Then, he came to Mu'adh and asked for his advice. Mu'adh said to him, "What is this?" The man replied, "I embraced Islam and then I started stealing." Mu'adh said, "I will not sit in a gathering where Allah's decree and the decree of His Messenger ﷺ are violated."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said while we were sitting on a mat, "Indeed, it will be a tribulation." They asked, "What should we do?" He extended his hand towards the mat and held onto it, saying, "They will do like this." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , reminded them, "Indeed, it will be a tribulation." Many people did not hear him, so Mu'adh bin Jabal said, "Don't you hear what the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , is saying?" They asked, "What did he say?" He said, "He said, 'Indeed, it will be a tribulation.'" They asked, "So what should we do, O Messenger of Allah, and how should we act?" He said, "You should return to your previous affairs."

[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah while he was praying. When he finished his prayer, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I saw you doing something that I have not seen you do in a prayer." He said, "It was a voluntary prayer of desire and caution. I asked Allah three times in it, so He gave me two and prevented me from one. I asked Him not to subject my Ummah to an enemy other than themselves, who would overpower them, so He gave it to me. And I asked Him not to send upon them a calamity that would destroy them, so He gave it to me. And I asked Him not to make their misfortune between themselves, so He turned it away from me."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "No servant (of Allah) dies while testifying that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, unless they have certainty in their heart, but they will enter Paradise." It was said to him, "Did you hear this from Mu'adh?" He said, "I heard this from Mu'adh, who narrated it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
25.261 [Machine] Abdul Rahman ibn Samurah, from Muadh ibn Jabal
[Machine] I entered the Grand Mosque in Basra and sat next to an old man with white hair and beard. He said to me, "Mu'adh bin Jabal told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Any soul that dies while testifying that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, Allah will forgive them.' " I asked him, "Did you hear this from Mu'adh bin Jabal?" The people became aggressive towards me, but he said, "Don't be aggressive towards him or blame him. Leave him alone. I heard this from Mu'adh bin Jabal, who heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." I asked the people, "Who is this?" They said, "Abdul Rahman bin Samurah."
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went out with Mu'adh bin Jabal to the gate, and when he saw him, he said, "O Mu'adh!" Mu'adh replied, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said, "Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." Mu'adh asked, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people?" The Prophet said, "Leave them to compete in good deeds, for I fear that they may depend on them (the information) and not strive in worshipping Allah."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not give the people the glad tidings?" He said, "I fear that they may rely on it [i.e., on entering Paradise without doing good deeds]."
[Machine] I heard him saying, "Verily, Mu'adh was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he said to him, 'Give glad tidings to the people that whoever dies without associating partners with Allah will enter Paradise.'"
[Machine] On the authority of 'Attab bin Moulla Hurmuz, a man from the people of Wasit, who reported from Anas bin Malik that he said: "I gave allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my hand upon this (hand) for hearing and obedience in what I am capable of. And I heard him narrating that Mu'adh bin Jabal was next to the Prophet ﷺ . So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Give glad tidings to the people that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.' Mu'adh said: 'O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't I tell the people about this?' He said: 'I fear that they will rely on it too much.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever bears witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah sincerely from their heart, will enter Paradise."
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Muslimah al-Qa'nabi narrated that Salamah ibn Wardan narrated from Anas ibn Malik that he heard him say, "Mu'adh ibn Jabal came to me, so I asked him, 'Where did you come from, O Mu'adh?' He said, 'I came from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ.' So I asked him, 'What did he say to you?' He said, 'Whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, sincerely, will enter Paradise.' So I said, 'Should I go and ask the Prophet ﷺ?' Mu'adh said, 'Yes, go.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Prophet of Allah, Mu'adh ibn Jabal informed me that you said, 'Whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, sincerely, will enter Paradise.' He replied, 'Mu'adh has spoken the truth, Mu'adh has spoken the truth, Mu'adh has spoken the truth.'"

[Machine] I was in a row behind the Prophet ﷺ and there was nothing between him and me except the saddles. He said to me, "O Mu'adh!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right Allah has over His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah over His servants is that they should worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him." Then he rode for a while and said, "O Mu'adh bin Jabal!" I said, "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, ready and obedient." He said, "Do you know what right the servants have over Allah if they do this?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants over Allah is that He will not punish them."

[Machine] Narrated from the strange Hadith of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said, "I used to ride behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on a donkey, and he said, 'O Mu'adh.' I said, 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Do you know the rights of Allah on His servants?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Indeed, their right upon Him is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him.' Then he said, 'Do you know the rights of the servants upon Allah if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Indeed, their right upon Allah if they do that is that He will not punish them.'"

[Machine] That Mu'adh ibn Jabal made a pact with the Devil during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So I went to him and said, "I have heard that you made a pact with the Devil during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He said, "Yes, I did. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me to bring him the charity dates. So I kept them in a room where I would find them decreasing every day. I complained about it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he told me, 'It is the work of the Devil, so follow him closely.' So I followed him at night, and when he left, he took the form of an elephant. When he reached the door, he entered it in a different form and approached the dates. He started eating them, so I grabbed him by my clothes and said, 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O enemy of Allah, go to the charity dates.' So I took hold of him, and they were more deserving of him than me, and I intended to take him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so that he could expose him. He made a pact with me not to return, but the next morning I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said to me, 'What did your captive do?' I said, 'He made a pact with me not to return.' He said, 'He will return, so follow him closely.' So I followed him closely on the second night, and he did the same thing. I did the same to him, and he made a pact with me not to return. So I let him go, and then I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to inform him. But as soon as I entered his presence, I heard a caller calling, 'Where is Mu'adh ibn Jabal?' He said to me, 'Mu'adh, what did your captive do?' So I told him, and he said, 'The wicked one spoke the truth, and he is a liar.' He said, 'So I continued to recite them to him, and I did not find any decrease in them.'

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone else, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands as a right upon them. A woman will never have the sweetness of faith until she fulfills the rights of her husband, even if he were to ask her willingly for herself on a camel's hump."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this matter began as mercy and prophethood, then it will become mercy and caliphate, then it will become rule that is biting, then it will become oppressive rule, then it will become corruption on the earth. They will approve of silk, adultery, and alcohol, and they will be provided for in these matters until they meet Allah."
We heard the Messenger of Allahﷺ saying, "Verily, this matter [Islam] began as mercy and prophecy, then it will be caliphate and mercy, then it will become a biting monarchy and forcefulness, and then corruption on the earth, where they indulge in adultery, silk, and alcohol and are victorious in that. They will continue to be provided for until they meet Allah, the Blessed and Exalted."

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him when he sent him to Yemen, "If anyone turns away from Islam, invite him to repent. If he repents, accept it from him, and if he does not repent, strike his neck. And if any woman turns away from Islam, invite her to repent. If she repents, accept it from her, and if she refuses, confine her."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: "Verily, Allah will give charity from your wealth upon your death, as an increase in your life, so that He may make it zakat for you in your deeds."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to light a lamp in a bronze lamp and drink from it.

[Machine] The Prophet passed by a man who was saying, "O Allah, I ask You for patience." He said, "You have asked Allah for hardship, so ask Him for well-being." He then passed by another man who was saying, "O Possessor of majesty and honor." He said, "Your supplication has been answered." He then passed by a man who was saying, "O Allah, I ask You for the perfection of Your blessings." He said, "Do you know what the perfection of blessings is?" The man replied, "No, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said, "To be protected from the Hellfire and admitted into Paradise."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he passed by a man who was saying, "O Allah, I ask for patience." The Prophet responded, "You have indeed asked Allah for difficulty, so ask Him for well-being." He then passed by another man who was saying, "O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity!" The Prophet said, "Your supplication has been answered, so ask." Finally, the Prophet passed by a man who was saying, "O Allah, I ask for the perfection of blessings." The Prophet asked him, "Do you know what the perfection of blessings is?" The man replied, "It is a supplication that I made, hoping for goodness." The Prophet said, "The perfection of blessings is entering Paradise and being saved from the Fire."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers in the Battle of Tabuk.
[Machine] He informed him that they went with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , to Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , would combine the Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers together. He delayed the prayer one day, then he went out and prayed Dhuhr and Asr together, then he entered and went out and prayed Maghrib and Isha together. Then he said, "You will come to, if Allah wills, the spring of Tabuk tomorrow, and you will come to it in the forenoon. Whoever comes to it should not touch any of its waters until I come." He said, "So we came and two men had already preceded us and the spring was like a pitcher contracting with something from the water. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , asked them, "Did you touch anything from its water?" They replied, "Yes." So he cursed them and said to them what Allah willed him to say. Then they cupped their hands a little and water gathered in them. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , washed his face and hands in it, then poured it back into the spring. The spring gushed forth with abundant water and the people drank from it. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Soon, O Mu'adh, if you live long, you will see what is here filled with gardens." This is what Ad-Dabari said, although he was mistaken and it is actually filled with Paradise.

[Machine] I heard Muadh ibn Jabal saying, "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk. He would not depart until it became cool, then he would combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers. Then he would descend when it was evening and combine Maghrib and Isha prayers."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , gathered during the Battle of Tabuk between noon, afternoon, sunset, and nightfall until we returned."

We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Tabuk expedition, and he observed the noon and afternoon prayers together and the sunset and 'Isha' prayers together. (Using translation from Muslim 706a)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ waged a campaign in Tabuk during intense heat, and he combined the prayers of Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers during the Battle of Tabuk.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ gathered between Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers in the expedition of Tabuk.

[Machine] I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and he placed me behind him. I did not touch anything softer than the skin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , nor did I find a more pleasant smell than the smell of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, "O Mu'adh, have you heard anything tonight?" I said, "No." He said, "Verily a caller from my Lord came to me, giving me glad tidings that whoever dies from my Ummah without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not go and inform the people so that they will be glad?" He said, "Leave them so that they may compete in striving on the path (of righteousness)."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand one day and said, "O Mu'adh, by Allah, I truly love you." Mu'adh replied, "By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, I truly love you." The Prophet then advised Mu'adh, saying, "I advise you, O Mu'adh, not to leave after every prayer without saying, 'O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best way.' And Mu'adh advised Sunabihi, Sunabihi advised Abu Abdul Rahman, and Abu Abdul Rahman advised Uqbah ibn Muslim."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about four qualities: about his life and how he spent it, about his youth and how he utilized it, about his wealth and how he earned it and where he spent it, and about his knowledge and how he implemented it."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There are three acts, whoever commits them has indeed been sinful: One who pledges allegiance to a leader without due right, or one who disobeys his parents, or one who walks with an oppressor. Allah says: 'Indeed, We are avengers of the criminals.'"
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ فَعَلَهُنَّ فَقَدْ أَجْرَمَ مَنْ عَقَدَ لِوَاءً فِي غَيْرِ حَقٍّ أَوْ عَقَّ وَالِدَيْهِ أَوْ مَشَى مَعَ ظَالِمٍ فَقَدْ أَجْرَمَ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ {إِنَّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنْتَقِمُونَ}

[Machine] Narrated to us a narration that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, you have not forgotten it and it has not been mixed up for you. So sit me down, and some members of the group took hold of his hand while others sat behind him. He then said, "I will narrate to you a narration that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I have not forgotten it and it has not been mixed up for me. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Every Prophet has warned his people about the Antichrist. Verily, I warn you against the Antichrist. There is no Prophet who has not warned his people about the Antichrist. Indeed, I warn you of the Antichrist. He is one-eyed, and indeed, my Lord is not one-eyed. Between his eyes is a sign written, "Kafir" (disbeliever), which is read by the literate and the illiterate. With him is Jannah (Paradise), and his hellfire is Paradise, and his Paradise is Hellfire."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not permissible for a woman to allow anyone into her husband's house without his permission, and she should not leave the house when he dislikes it. She should not abandon her husband's bed, even if he is more unjust than she is. She should not forsake him, even if he is oppressing her, until she goes to him and apologizes. If he accepts her apology, then Allah accepts her apology.

Then Mu'adh said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be held accountable for what we say and it will be written against us?" The Messenger of Allah struck the shoulder of Mu'adh several times and said, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Mu'adh! Is anything more effective in leading people to Hellfire on their faces - or he said, on their noses - than the harvest of their tongues?"
