[Machine] What stories have reached me about you that I can talk about? I had intended to expel you from Sham, but he said, "By Allah, if it were not for women, I would not have wanted to be with her for a single moment." Muawiya said, "What story do you have to tell about Tala?" He said, "Indeed, it is not permissible for me to say about the Messenger of Allah what I have not heard him say. He said, 'Whoever attributes to me what I have not said, let him take his seat in the Fire.'"  

مَا أَحَادِيثُ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ تُحَدِّثُ بِهَا؟ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْفِيَكَ مِنَ الشَّامِ فَقَالَ أَمَا وَاللهِ لَوْلَا إِنَاثٌ مَا أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ بِهَا سَاعَةً فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ مَا حَدِيثٌ تُحَدِّثُ بِهِ فِي الطِّلَا؟ فَقَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهُ مَا يَحِلُّ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا لَمْ يَقُلْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «مَنْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلِيَّ مَا لَمْ أَقُلْ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»  

[Machine] He heard Muawiyah say, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to start fasting one day before Ramadan and would say, 'Verily, the fasting of a day is like so and so, and we are preemptive. So whoever wishes to begin fasting, let him begin, and whoever wishes to leave it, let him leave.'"  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُومُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ بِيَوْمٍ وَيَقُولُ «إِنَّ الصِّيَامَ يَوْمُ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَنَحْنُ مُتَقَدِّمُونَ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ فَلْيَتَقَدَّمْ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتْرُكَ فَلْيَتْرُكْ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "You will conquer the outskirts of Persia."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «سَتَفْتَحُونَ مَنَابِتَ الشِّيحِ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Leave what leaves you."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اتْرُكُوا التُّرْكَ مَا تَرَكُوكُمْ»  

[Machine] Write a response to the letter of Your Armenian friend. "May your mother bury you and not move them with anything, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Leave the Turks as they left you.'"  

اكْتُبْ إِلَى صَاحِبِ أَرْمِينِيَةَ جَوَابَ كِتَابِهِ ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ وَلَا تُحَرِّكْهُمْ بِشَيْءٍ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «تَارِكُوا التُّرْكَ مَا تَرَكُوكُمْ»  

[Machine] Muawiyah, if I had approached you before this period, I would have cut off a part of you, then I would have stood up and prayed Dhuhr in Makkah. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "The people of the Book divided into seventy-two sects, and this nation will divide into seventy-three sects, all of them are in the Fire except one, which is the group (Al-Jama'ah)." And he said: "There will come out from my nation people who deal with desires as the dog deals with its master. Not a vein or a joint will be left except that they enter it." By Allah, O Arabs, if you do not uphold what Muhammad, ﷺ , brought, then others among the people are more deserving of upholding it.  

مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْ كُنْتُ تَقَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكَ قَبْلَ مُدَّتِي هَذِهِ لَقَطَعْتُ مِنْكَ طَائِفًا ثُمَّ قَامَ حَتَّى صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ بِمَكَّةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ افْتَرَقُوا عَلَى ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ سَتَفْتَرُقُ عَلَى ثَلَاثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً يَعْنِي الْأَهْوَاءَ وَكُلُّهَا فِي النَّارِ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً وَهِيَ الْجَمَاعَةُ» وَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ سَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ تَتَجَارَى بِهِمُ الْأَهْوَاءُ كَمَا يَتَجَارَى الْكَلْبُ بِصَاحِبِهِ فَلَا يَبْقَى مِنْهُ عِرْقٌ وَلَا مَفْصِلٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَهُ» وَاللهِ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْعَرَبِ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَقُومُوا بِمَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ لَغَيْرُكُمْ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَحْرَى أَنْ لَا يَقُومَ بِهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the people of the Book divided into seventy-two sects in their book, and this Ummah (nation) will divide into seventy-three sects, all of which are in the Fire except one, and that is the group. And indeed, there will emerge from my Ummah (nation) people who will interpret these desires just as the dog licks its owner's hand, and there will not remain a vein or joint except that they will enter it."  

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ افْتَرَقُوا فِي كِتَابِهِمْ عَلَى ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً وَتَفْتَرِقُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةُ عَلَى ثَلَاثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً يَعْنِي الْأَهْوَاءَ كُلُّهَا فِي النَّارِ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً وَهِيَ الْجَمَاعَةُ وَإِنَّهُ يَخْرُجُ فِي أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ تُجَارِي بِهِمُ تِلْكَ الْأَهْوَاءُ كَمَا يَتَجَارَى الْكَلْبُ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَلَا يَبْقَى عِرْقٌ وَلَا مَفْصِلٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَهُ»  

[Machine] "That Mu'awiya said: 'I saw them wiping the Prophet's ﷺ sweat, so when he finished wiping his head, he placed his hands on the front of his head, then he wiped them until he reached his nape, and then he returned them until he reached the place he began from.'"

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ «أَرَاهُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَسْحَ رَأْسِهِ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى مُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ بَلَغَ بِهِمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْقَفَا ثُمَّ رَدَّهُمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي مِنْهُ بَدَأَ»  

[Machine] "He (the narrator) said: I saw them wetting the Prophet's ﷺ hair (during ablution). When the water reached the front of his head, he placed his two hands on the front of his head, then passed them over it until he reached the back of his head, then returned them until he reached the place from where he began." Al-Walid said: Abdullah bin Al-Ala'a bin Zabr informed me, who narrated it from Abu Al-Azhar, who narrated it from Muawiyah, and Hariz bin Uthman informed me, who narrated it from Abdul Rahman bin Maisara, who narrated it from Al-Miqdam bin Ma'di Karib, who narrated it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, something similar to that."  

«أَنَّهُ أَرَاهُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَسْحَ رَأْسِهِ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى مُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ مَرَّ بِهِمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْقَفَا ثُمَّ رَدَّهُمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي مِنْهُ بَدَأَ» قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ زَبْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَزْهَرِ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بِذَلِكَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] He witnessed Muawiyah performing ablution, wiping both the outer and inner parts of his ears, and said, "This is the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."  

أَنَّهُ حَضَرَ مُعَاوِيَةَ تَوَضَّأَ فَمَسَحَ أُذُنَيْهِ ظَاهِرَهُمَا وَبَاطِنَهُمَا وَقَالَ «هَذَا وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»  

[Machine] About the ablution of Muawiyah, he demonstrated to them the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he performed ablution three times except for washing his feet a specific number of times.  

عَنْ وُضُوءِ مُعَاوِيَةَ يُرِيهُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا إِلَّا غَسْلَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِغَيْرِ عَدَدٍ  

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If you search for the faults of the people, you will corrupt them, or will nearly corrupt them. AbudDarda' said: These are the words which Mu'awiyah himself from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Allah benefited him by them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4888)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّكَ إِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ النَّاسِ أَفْسَدْتَهُمْ أَوْ كِدْتَ أَنْ تُفْسِدَهُمْ» قَالَ يَقُولُ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ كَلِمَةٌ سَمِعَهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَفَعَهُ اللهُ بِهَا  

[Machine] "He used to teach people the Tashahhud while he was on the pulpit, and it is as follows: 'Greetings, prayers, and good deeds are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.'"  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَّشَهُّدَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عَبَّادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ»  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ prohibited excessive actions. Isa narrated from Ru'h bin 'Ubada from Al-Awza'i who said, "Excessiveness refers to the difficulty and severity of matters."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ الْغُلُوطَاتِ» قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ وَثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ قَالَ «وَالْغُلُوطَاتُ صُعَابِ الْمَسَائِلِ وَشِدَادُهَا»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There will always be a group among my Ummah who will remain steadfast and unaffected by those who forsake them, until the command of Allah comes while they are prominent among the people."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَزَالُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أُمَّةٌ قَائِمَةٌ لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللهِ وَهُمْ ظَاهِرُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ»  

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You must be truthful, for it leads to righteousness and they are both in Paradise. And beware of dishonesty, for it leads to wickedness and they are both in the Hellfire."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَهُمَا فِي النَّارِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that migration is of two types: one is to abandon evil deeds, and the other is to migrate to Allah and His Messenger. Migration will not end as long as repentance is accepted and repentance will continue to be accepted until the sun rises from the west. When it rises, it will rise upon every heart according to what is in it. And people will be judged according to their actions.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْهِجْرَةُ هِجْرَتَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَنْ يَهْجُرَ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَالْأُخْرَى أَنْ يُهَاجِرَ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَلَا تَنْقَطِعُ الْهِجْرَةُ مَا تُقُبِّلَتِ التَّوْبَةُ وَلَا تَزَالُ التَّوْبَةُ مَقْبُولَةً حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنَ المَغْرِبِ فَإِذَا طَلَعَتْ طَلَعَ عَلَى كُلِّ قَلْبٍ بِمَا فِيهِ وَكَفَى النَّاسَ الْعَمَلَ  

[Machine] I have accompanied the Prophet ﷺ and listened to him, and I have heard him say most in his prayers, "Subhanaka Rabbil 'Alameen."  

لَقَدْ رَفَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَاسْتَمَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَسَمِعْتُ أَكْثَرَ صَلَاتِهِ أَنْ يَقُولَ «سُبْحَانَكَ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»  

[Machine] Grant my request, O Amir al-Mu'minin, for by Allah, my need is great. I have become a father of ten, a brother of ten, and an uncle of ten. When Marwan and Ibn Abbas came back, they found Muawiyah sitting on his bed. Muawiyah said to Ibn Abbas, "By Allah, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, 'When the sons of rulers reach thirty, they will distort the signs of Allah between them, deceive His servants, and distort His book. When they reach ninety-nine and four hundred, their destruction will come faster than ripening fruit.'" Ibn Abbas said, "Yes, O Allah, indeed." So Marwan mentioned his need, and Marwan bin Abd al-Malik sent him back to Muawiyah to discuss it with him. When he left, Muawiyah said, "By Allah, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , mentioned this and said, 'The four Abu al-Jababir?' Ibn Abbas said, "Yes, O Allah, indeed."  

اقْضِ حَاجَتِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ مُؤْنَتِي لَعَظِيمَةٌ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أَبَا عَشَرَةٍ وَأَخَا عَشَرَةٍ وَعَمَّ عَشَرَةٍ فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ مَرْوَانُ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ جَالِسٌ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَنْشُدُكَ اللهَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَمَا تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا بَلَغَ بَنُو الْحَكَمِ ثَلَاثِينَ رَجُلًا اتَّخَذُوا آيَاتِ اللهِ بَيْنَهُمْ دُوَلًا وَعِبَادَهُ خَوَلًا وَكِتَابَهُ دَغَلًا فَإِذَا بَلَغُوا تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ وَأَرْبَعَمِائَةٍ كَانَ هَلَاكُهُمْ أَسْرَعَ مِنَ الثَّمَرَةِ» ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ فَذَكَرَ مَرْوَانُ حَاجَةً لَهُ فَرَدَّ مَرْوَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَكَلَّمَهُ فِيهَا فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَنْشُدُكَ اللهَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَمَا تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَكَرَ هَذَا فَقَالَ «أَبُو الْجَبَابِرَةِ الْأَرْبَعَةِ؟» فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ  

[Machine] I heard Muawiyah on the pulpit and he was not known for talking much about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah the Almighty brought forth the descendants of Adam from his loins until they filled the earth, and they were like this." Then Ja'far crossed his hands, placing one hand on top of the other.  

سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَكَانَ قَلِيلَ الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى أَخْرَجَ ذُرِّيَّةَ آدَمَ مِنْ صُلْبِهِ حَتَّى مَلَؤُا الْأَرْضَ وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا» فَضَمَّ جَعْفَرٌ يَدَيْهِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى  

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "There will always be a group of my Ummah who will remain steadfast in the command of Allah. Those who betray them or oppose them will not be able to harm them until the command of Allah comes and they will be prominent among the people."  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي قَائِمَةً بِأَمْرِ اللهِ لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللهِ وَهُمْ ظَاهِرُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ»  

[Machine] "He mentioned to them, the wudhu (ablution) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , that he wiped his head until water dripped from it or almost dripped, and that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished wiping his head, he put his palms on the front of his head and then passed them until he reached the back of his head, and then he brought them back until he reached the place from where he began."  

«أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ لَهُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ حَتَّى قَطَرَ الْمَاءُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ أَوْ كَادَ أَنْ يَقْطُرَ وَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَلَغَ مَسْحَ رَأْسِهِ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى مُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ مَرَّ بِهِمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ بِهِمَا الْقَفَا ثُمَّ رَدَّهُمَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي مِنْهُ بَدَأَ»  

[Machine] I heard Abu Al-Azhar say that Muawiyah stood at the monastery of Misr on the gate of Hims and said, "Indeed, fasting is on this day and this day, and we are advancing tomorrow." So, Malik bin Hubayrah stood up to him and said, "O Muawiyah, is this an opinion you have seen or something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Fast the month and keep it a secret.'"  

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَزْهَرِ يَقُولُ قَامَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بِدَيْرِ مِسْحَلٍ الَّذِي عَلَى بَابِ حِمْصٍ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنَّ الصِّيَامَ يَوْمُ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَإِنَّا مُتَقَدِّمُونَ غَدًا فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ مَالِكُ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَاوِيَةُ أَرَأْيٌ رَأَيْتَهُ أَمْ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «صُومُوا الشَّهْرَ وَسِرَّهُ»  

[Machine] He used to send a guard from his guards to me, who would bring me bread and milk. They used to say, "This is the day of Ashura, and the Prophet ﷺ used to fast it, and we are fasting. So whoever wants to fast, let them fast."  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَبْعَثُ حَرَسًا مِنْ حَرَسِهِ إِلَيَّ كَنَاكِرُونَ كُبَّةٍ وَقَرُوا يَقُولُ «إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَصُومُهُ وَنَحْنُ صَائِمُونَ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَصُومَهُ فَلْيَصُمْهُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A nation that does not uphold justice and where the weak do not receive their rights from the strong is not honored."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تُقَدَّسُ أُمَّةٌ لَا يُقْضَى فِيهَا بِالْحَقِّ وَيَأْخُذُ الضَّعِيفُ حَقَّهُ مِنَ الْقَوِيِّ غَيْرَ مُتَعْتَعٍ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Goodness is a habit and evil is a conflict." Ibn Bint Shurahbil added in his narration from the Prophet ﷺ , "And whoever Allah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْخَيْرُ عَادَةٌ وَالشَّرُّ لَجَاجَةٌ» زَادَ ابْنُ بِنْتِ شُرَحْبِيلَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «وَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»  

[Machine] We were sitting in the mosque when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, "You are talking about me being the first among you to pass away, and that I will be followed by others, meaning some of you by others." Then he recited this verse, saying, "Say, He is the One who is able to send upon you a punishment from above you or from beneath your feet." Until he reached, "For every news, there is a time. Soon you will know." Then he said, "A group from my Ummah will not cease fighting for the truth, clearly visible, regardless of those who betray them or oppose them, until the command of Allah comes on that." Then he recited this verse, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection."  

كُنَّا جُلُوسًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ إِذْ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّكُمْ تَتَحَدَّثُونَ أَنِّي مِنْ آخِرِكُمْ وَفَاةً وَأَنِّي مِنْ أَوَّلِكُمْ وَفَاةً وَتَتْبَعُونِي أَفْنَادًا» يَعْنِي بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا ثُمَّ نَزَعَ بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَقَالَ {قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ} حَتَّى بَلَغَ {لِكُلِّ نَبَإٍ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ} ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا تَبْرَحُ عِصَابَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي يُقَاتِلُونَ عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ لَا يُبَالُونَ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ وَلَا مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللهِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ» ثُمَّ نَزَعَ بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {يَا عِيسَى إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَيَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَجَاعِلُ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوكَ فَوْقَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ}  

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»  

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Migration will not end until repentance ends, and repentance will not end until the sun rises in the west. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2479)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَنْقَطِعُ الْهِجْرَةُ حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ التَّوْبَةُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَلَا تَنْقَطِعُ التَّوْبَةُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "No nation is sanctified if its weak are not given their rights by its strong, and they are not oppressed." So if he says yes, carry it to me by mail. He asked him, and he said yes. So he carried it by mail from Egypt to Sham. Muawiyah asked him, and he informed him. Muawiyah said, "I have also heard it, but I preferred to confirm it."  

سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا قُدِّسَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَا يَأْخُذُ ضَعِيفُهَا حَقَّهُ مِنْ قَوِيِّهَا وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُضْطَهَدٍ» فَإِنْ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَاحْمِلْهُ إِلَيَّ عَلَى الْبَرِيدِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ فَحَمَلَهُ عَلَى الْبَرِيدِ مِنْ مِصْرَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَسَأَلَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَأَنَا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ وَلَكِنْ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَثَّبَتَ  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Behold, every intoxicant is unlawful upon every believer."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَلَا إِنَّ كُلَّ مُسْكِرٍ عَلَى كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ حَرَامٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever dies without an Imam, dies a death of ignorance."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَاتَ بِغَيْرِ إِمَامٍ مَاتَ مَيْتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً»  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If Allah wants to do good for somebody, he makes him comprehend the Religion (i.e. Islam), and Allah is the Giver and I am Al-Qasim (i.e. the distributor), and this (Muslim) nation will remain victorious over their opponents, till Allah's Order comes and they will still be victorious." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3116)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever Allah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا فَلْيُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»  

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ forbade exaggeration."  

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْأُغْلُوطَاتِ»  

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , that he said, "I am only a deliverer (of the message), and Allah is the Guide, the One who distributes (provisions), and Allah is the Giver. So whoever receives something good from me, it is a blessing from Allah upon him. And whoever receives something bad from me, it is a result of his own ignorance and desire. That is the one who eats but does not become satisfied."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُبَلِّغٌ وَاللهُ يَهْدِي وَقَاسِمٌ وَاللهُ يُعْطِي فَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ مِنِّي شَيْءٌ بِحُسْنِ هَدْيٍ وَرَغْبَةٍ فَذَاكَ الَّذِي يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ شَيْءٌ بِسُوءِ هَدْيٍ وَسُوءِ رَغْبَةٍ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ»  

[Machine] Abu Hazzaan Atiyyah ibn Abi Jameelah narrated to them that Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan would attribute it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and that he said, "Verily, I am only a conveyer, and Allah guides. Verily, I am only a distributor, and Allah provides. So whoever receives any good from us with good guidance and good desire, then that is what is blessed for them. And whoever receives any evil from us with bad guidance and bad desire, then that is what they consume but do not become satisfied."  

أَنَّ أَبَا هَزَّانَ عَطِيَّةَ بْنَ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ يَرُدُّهُ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَيَرُدُّهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُبَلِّغٌ وَاللهُ يَهْدِي وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا قَاسِمٌ وَاللهُ يُعْطِي فَمَنْ جَاءَهُ مِنَّا شَيْءٌ بِحُسْنِ هَدْيٍ وَحُسْنِ رَغْبَةٍ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ جَاءَهُ مِنَّا شَيْءٌ بِسُوءِ هَدْيٍ وَسُوءِ رَغْبَةٍ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am only a deliverer (of the message), while Allah guides and divides, and Allah gives. So whoever receives from me something with good guidance and good desire, then that is the one who is blessed in it. And whoever receives from me something with bad desire and bad guidance, then that is the one who eats but does not feel satisfied."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُبَلِّغٌ وَاللهُ يَهْدِي وَقَاسِمٌ وَاللهُ يُعْطِي فَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ عَنِّي شَيْءٌ بِحُسْنِ هَدْيٍ وَحُسْنِ رَغْبَةٍ فَذَاكَ الَّذِي يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ عَنِّي شَيْءٌ بِسُوءِ رَغْبَةٍ وَسُوءِ هَدْيٍ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ»  

I heard Mu'awiya say (while delivering a sermon from the pulpit) that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: A group of people from my Umma will continue to obey Allah's Command, and those who desert or oppose them shall not be able to do them any harm. They will be dominating the peeple until Allah's Command is executed (i. e. Resurrection is established). (Using translation from Muslim 1037c)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَزَالُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أُمَّةٌ قَائِمَةً عَلَى أَمْرِ اللهِ لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ أَوْ خَذَلَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللهِ وَهُمْ ظَاهِرُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ»  

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Who-ever loves to meet Allah, Allah (too) loves to meet him and who-ever hates to meet Allah, Allah (too) hates to meet him".

ʿAisha, or some of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ said, "But we dislike death." He said: It is not like this, but it is meant that when the time of the death of a believer approaches, he receives the good news of Allah's pleasure with him and His blessings upon him, and so at that time nothing is dearer to him than what is in front of him. He therefore loves the meeting with Allah, and Allah (too) loves the meeting with him. But when the time of the death of a disbeliever approaches, he receives the evil news of Allah's torment and His Requital, whereupon nothing is more hateful to him than what is before him. Therefore, he hates the meeting with Allah, and Allah too, hates the meeting with him." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6507)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللهِ أَحَبَّ اللهُ لِقَاءَهُ وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللهِ كَرِهَ اللهُ لِقَاءَهُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "One should refrain from riding on the skins of wild animals and from building tall buildings."  

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَنْهَى عَنِ الرُّكُوبِ عَلَى جُلُودِ السِّبَاعِ وَعَنْ تَشْيِيدِ الْبِنَاءِ»  

[Machine] It was revealed on the day of Arafah, on a Friday, then this verse was recited, "So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." And he (Prophet Muhammad) said, "Indeed, it is the last verse that was revealed."  

نَزَلَتْ فِي يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {فَمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا} وَقَالَ إِنَّهَا آخِرُ آيَةٍ نَزَلَتْ  

‘Whoever lies upon me intentionally, then let him take his seat in the Fire’. (Using translation from Muslim 3)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلِيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»  

[Machine] I heard Muawiyah on the pulpit saying, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , used to say when he finished praying: 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Over all things capable. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and no wealth or fortune can benefit the possessor against You.'"  

سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا انْفَتَلَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ»  

[Machine] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'O Allah, whoever I have cursed during the time of ignorance and then he entered Islam, make that a means of bringing him closer to You."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ مَنْ لَعَنْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ قُرْبَةً لَهُ إِلَيْكَ»  

[Machine] When he gave his sermon, he said, "Indeed, wealth is our wealth and spoils are our spoils. Whoever we wish to give, we give, and whoever we wish to prevent, we prevent. But no one answered him. When the second Friday came, he said the same thing, and still no one answered him. When the third Friday came, he said the same thing again, and a man from the congregation stood up and said, "No, indeed, wealth is our wealth and spoils are our spoils. Whoever comes between us and it, we will fight him with our swords and return it to Allah." Muawiyah then descended and sent for the man, bringing him in. The people said, "This man is doomed." But when people entered, they found the man lying on the bed with Muawiyah. Muawiyah said to the people, "Indeed, this man brought me to life. May Allah bring him to life. I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say, 'There will be leaders after me who will speak and will not be answered. They will fight each other in the Fire, just as monkeys do.' And I spoke on the first Friday and no one answered me. I feared that I would be among them. Then I spoke on the second Friday and no one answered me. Then I said to myself, 'Indeed, I am among the people.' Then I spoke on the third Friday and this man stood up and answered me, so he brought me to life. May Allah bring him to life."  

عِنْدَ خُطْبَتِهِ إِنَّمَا الْمَالُ مَالُنَا وَالْفَيْءُ فَيْئُنَا فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَعْطَيْنَاهُ وَمَنْ شِئْنَا مَنَعْنَاهُ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْجُمُعَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ قَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْجُمُعَةُ الثَّالِثَةُ قَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ حَضَرَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ كَلَّا إِنَّمَا الْمَالُ مَالُنَا وَالْفَيْءُ فَيْئُنَا فَمَنْ حَالَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ حَاكَمْنَاهُ إِلَى اللهِ بِأَسْيَافِنَا فَنَزَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ فَأَدْخَلَهُ فَقَالَ الْقَوْمُ هَلَكَ الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ النَّاسُ فَوَجَدُوا الرَّجُلَ مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لِلنَّاسِ إِنَّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ أَحْيَانِي أَحْيَاهُ اللهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «سَيَكُونُ أَئِمَّةٌ مِنْ بَعْدِي يَقُولُونُ وَلَا يُرَدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ يَتَقَاحَمُونَ فِي النَّارِ كَمَا تَتَقَاحَمُ الْقِرَدَةُ» وَإِنِّي تَكَلَّمْتُ أَوَّلَ جُمُعَةٍ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلِيَّ أَحَدٌ فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمْتُ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلِيَّ أَحَدٌ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي إِنِّي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمْتُ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَقَامَ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ فَرَدَّ عَلِيَّ فَأَحْيَانِي أَحْيَاهُ اللهُ  

[Machine] He said, "Fasting is not from the Sunnah during travel."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «لَيْسَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ الصَّوْمُ فِي السَّفَرِ»
