[Machine] That Umar consulted the people regarding the emancipation of a woman. Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba said, "I bear witness that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruling in favor of freeing a male or female slave on the day of Ghurrah (headdress). He said, 'Do you have anyone who can testify with you?' So Muhammad bin Maslamah testified for him."

[Machine] He tightened his clothes and took a bundle with him, then set off until he reached them. He said to the people, "Throw a garment towards me." He sat on it and said, "O people of the Arabs, I have realized what prompted you to come to us. You are a people who do not find enough food in your own lands to satisfy yourselves. So take what we give you of food to meet your needs. We are a Zoroastrian people and we dislike killing you, even though you encroach upon our land." Al-Mughirah said, "By Allah, that is not true. We did not come here for that reason. Rather, we used to be a people who worshipped rocks and idols. So when we saw a rock that was better than the one we had, we would throw ours and take the better one. We did not know our Lord until 'Allah sent to us a Messenger from among ourselves.' He invited us to Islam and we followed him. He commanded us to fight against our enemies who left Islam, not for the sake of food. But we came to kill your fighters and subdue your offspring. As for what you mentioned about food, by Allah, we used to swear we would never eat enough food for us to feel satisfied, and sometimes we could not even find water. So we came to this land of yours and found an abundance of food. By Allah, we will not leave it until it is ours or yours." Al-'Ijl (the Persian) said, "True, and tomorrow your eye will be removed by a man from Qadisiyyah (a place in Persia)." His eye was indeed damaged the following day by an arrow.

[Machine] From Abu Firas, a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , from Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba, who said: I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I desire women." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go to so-and-so and look at them, for it is more likely to establish affection. If you are pleased with her, then marry her." So he went to them and greeted them, and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me and commanded you to show yourself to me." I said, "Yes." So she unveiled her face and said, "Look." Then I married her, and I never married anything more beloved to me than her, and indeed, I married sixty women.

[Machine] Four people were buried in the grave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, one of them was Abdurrahman bin Awf. Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba was known as the most recent person to make a covenant with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I would be the last person to make a covenant with him.

One night I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey. He asked (me), "Have you got water with you?" I replied, "Yes" So he got down from his she-camel and went away till he disappeared in the darkness of the night. Then he came back and I poured water for him from the pot (for the ablution). He washed his face and hands while he was wearing a woollen cloak (the sleeves of which were narrow), so he could not take his arms out of it. So he took them out from underneath the cloak. Then he washed his forearms and passed his wet hands over his head. Then I tried to take off his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather), but he said, "Leave them, for I have performed ablution before putting them on." And so he passed his wet hands over them. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5799)

[Machine] To the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , I said, "Do you have any water?" He said, "Yes." So, he descended from his ride and walked until he disappeared from my sight. When he came back, I handed him the container of water. He performed ablution, washed his hands and face, and there was a narrow garment with short sleeves on him. He pulled out his hand from under the garment and washed his arms and wiped his head. Then, I intended to remove his shoes, but he said, "Leave them, for I have put them on while they are still pure." So, he wiped over his shoes.

So, I held onto his camel and we continued until I couldn't see him anymore. Then he came back and I poured water for him to perform ablution. He struggled to lift his arms, and his sleeve became tight. So, he took out his arms from under the sleeve and performed ablution. He washed his hands, face, and arms, and wiped over his feet. I said, "Shouldn't you take off your socks?" He said, "I have entered them in a state of purity."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ hit my back with a stick that he had with him, and I straightened up. I kept straightening up until we reached a point on the earth that I did not know where it was. Then he stopped and I got off. He disappeared from my sight, and then he came and asked, "Do you have any water?" I had a small water container with me, so I poured it over him. He washed his hands and his face, and then he went to wash his arms. He was wearing a tight Syrian cloak with narrow sleeves. He pulled his hands out from under the cloak and washed his hands, face, and arms. Ibn 'Awn mentioned that he wiped something from the top of his head and his turban, but I don't know if I got it right or not. He also wiped over his slippers, and then he asked, "What do you need?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have no need." Then we set off and reached the people, and Ibn 'Awf had already led them in the Fajr prayer. He prayed one unit of prayer with them, and I went to inform him that the Prophet prevented me from calling the adhan. So we prayed whatever we had missed, and we made up what we had come late for.

[Machine] He informed him that he had accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to relieve himself, so I carried a container with water in it for him before the Fajr prayer. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to me, I took a container from his hand with the water. He washed his hands three times, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose, then washed his face. Then he began to take off his lower garment from his arms, but it became too tight around his wrists, so he put his hands inside the lower garment up to his elbows, then he performed ablution over his feet. Then he began his prayer and I followed him until we found the people had already made 'Abdul-Rahman ibn 'Awf lead the prayer. The Prophet ﷺ caught up with one of the two Rak'ahs and prayed the last Rak'ah with the people. When 'Abdul-Rahman ibn 'Awf finished his prayer and said the Taslim, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to complete his prayer. This surprised the Muslims and they increased in glorification (saying Subhan Allah). When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he approached them and said, "You have done well" or "You were correct". He was pleased that they had performed the prayer at the correct time. Ibn Shihab said: Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'd narrated to me from Hamza ibn al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah with a similar narration to the Hadith of 'Abbad ibn Ziyad, and he added: Al-Mughirah said, "I wanted to inform 'Abdul-Rahman ibn 'Awf, but the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Leave him.' So I mentioned the matter to him (Ibn Shihab) in the same way."
