25. Chapter of Mīm (Male) (23/33)
[Machine] I saw Al-Miqdad, the warrior of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sitting on a coffin made of sailboat wood in Hims, which was superior to it in quality. He intended to go on a military expedition, so I said, "May Allah excuse you." He said, "The verse of Al-Ba'athah has not been revealed to us yet: 'And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows.'"
رَأَيْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَارِسَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا عَلَى تَابُوتٍ مِنْ تَوَابِيتِ الصَّيَارِفَةِ بِحِمْصَ قَدْ أَفْضَلَ عَنْهَا مِنْ عَظْمِهِ يُرِيدُ الْغَزْوَ فَقُلْتُ لَقَدْ أَعْذَرَ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ أَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا سُورَةُ الْبَعُوثِ {انْفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا}
[Machine] I was the companion of Al-Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad during the period of Jahiliyyah. He was a man from Bahrā'. He shed blood among them, so he fled to Kindah and swore allegiance to them. Then he shed blood among them, so he fled to Makkah and swore allegiance to Al-Aswad ibn 'Abd Yaghooth.
[Machine] "It is only four thousand, so he argued with Umar. Uthman said, 'I lent him seven thousand.' Muqdad said, 'He swears that it is seven thousand?' Umar said, 'You have done justice, but he refused to swear.' He said, 'Take what he has given you.' He said, 'By Allah, the one besides whom there is no other god, it is only seven thousand.' Umar said, 'So what prevents you from swearing? Indeed, it is day and night.'"
25.399 [Machine] The percentage of al-Miqdad, his description, age, and death.
[Machine] Al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad passed away on the cliff, and men carried him to the city on their shoulders in the year thirty-three. Uthman bin Affan, also known as Abu Ma'bad, led the funeral prayer and he was around seventy years old.
[Machine] That I ask the Prophet ﷺ about (the ruling of) vaginal discharge and his daughter was present with me, so I commanded Al-Miqdad to ask him, and he replied, "It requires performing ablution."
[Machine] Ali ibn Abi Talib asked al-Miqdad to ask the Messenger of Allah about a man who plays with his wife and talks to her until he ejaculates. If it were not for the fact that I feel shy towards him and that his daughter is under me, I would have asked him myself. al-Miqdad asked him, and the Messenger of Allah said, "He should wash his private part, then perform ablution, and then sprinkle his genitals."
[Machine] I asked Al-Miqdad to inquire about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for if it were not for his daughter under me, I would have asked him about one of us if he approaches his wife and harms her without possessing her. So Al-Miqdad asked the Prophet ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you harms [his wife] without having intercourse with her, then let him wash his private parts and both of them [male and female]."
25.400 [Machine] What did Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad do?
25.401 [Machine] Ali ibn Abi Talib, from Miqdad ibn Aswad
[Machine] Ali asked the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , about a man who plays with his family and then has seminal discharge. So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a man who plays with his family and has seminal discharge?" He said, "He should wash his private parts and perform ablution for prayer."
[Machine] A man came and praised Uthman, so Mikdad stood up and dusted his face with dirt. Uthman asked him, "What is wrong with you?" He replied, "As for me, I do not leave anything I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Dust the faces of those who praise excessively.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Search for the dust on the faces of those who praise."
25.403 [Machine] Al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddad al-Fihri, from Al-Miqdad.
[Machine] "When we migrated to Medina, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided us into groups of ten. I was in the group with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . We had a sheep that we would drink its milk among ourselves. One night, it was my turn to take care of it, but I was hungry, so I drank its milk. The Prophet ﷺ came but I did not sleep. He went to the container where we used to put the milk, but he did not find anything in it. I was disturbed, so I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should I slaughter it for you?' He said, 'No.'"
[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ when he said, "We are ten, ten in a house, ten in a house." Then I was with the Prophet ﷺ and we had a sheep with us."
25.404 [Machine] Tariq ibn Shihab Al-Ahmasi, from Al-Miqdad
[Machine] When we arrived in the city, we were a group of ten. Each of us stayed in a different house. We only had one sheep that we used for its milk. Whenever the Prophet ﷺ came to us, we would drink its milk and leave the Prophet's ﷺ share for him. One night, when the Prophet ﷺ came to us and drank the milk, he said, "Let us have some rest." Miqdad said, "The Prophet is taking a long time, I wonder if someone has invited him." I drank the milk and when the night passed, someone came and entered the house. When he entered, he greeted without making any noise, then he went to the vessel. When he didn't find anything, he remained silent. Then he said, "O Allah, feed the one who has fed us tonight." I quickly grabbed a knife and approached him with it. He wiped his chest with it and something came out. Then he drank it and went to sleep.

[Machine] A delegation from the people of Iraq sent to 'Uthman and they praised him, so Al-Miqdad began to throw dirt on their faces and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to throw dirt on the faces of those who praise."

I was in the company of Talha bin 'Ubaidullah, Saʿd, Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad and ʿAbdur Rahman bin ʿAuf and I heard none of them narrating anything from Messenger of Allah ﷺ but Talha was talking about the day (of the battle) of Uhud. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2824)

[Machine] I came to the city with two friends of mine, and we started approaching people, but no one helped us. So we went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are extremely hungry, and we approached people, but no one helped us." So he took us to his house, and he had four she-goats. He said, "O Miqdad, milk them." The Prophet ﷺ then divided the milk among all of us present. I used to do that, so I lifted my portion to give it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but he delayed and I went to lie down on my bed. My conscious said to me, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has gone to the house of a family from the Ansar and eaten and drunk enough, even if you drank this drink." My conscious continued to bother me until I drank it. When it settled in my stomach, the effects of what had happened to me were cured. My conscious then said to me, "Now a thirsty person is coming, someone who will not find anything." So I went to bed and wrapped the garment around me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then came and gave a greeting loud enough to wake the sleepers and not to wake the sleepers. Then he went to the bowl, uncovered it, but found nothing. He said, "O Allah, feed those who have fed me, and give drink to those who have given me drink." So I seized the opportunity of his supplication, stood up, took the knife, and approached the sheep. I looked at one of them, patted her, then looked at another, patted her, then looked at another, but they were all pregnant. I looked at all of them and found them pregnant. So I took the bowl and milked in it, and said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Drink." He said, "The news, O Miqdad." I said, "Drink first." Then I said, "Drink, O Messenger of Allah." So he drank until he was satisfied. Then I took from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and drank, and then I told him what had happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is a blessing that came from the heavens. Why did you not inform me so I could give drink to your two friends?" I said, "If I suffered, it wouldn't matter if both you and I were the cause of it."

[Machine] I asked, O Messenger of Allah, what do you think if I differ with a polytheist and he strikes me twice, severing my hands. When I incline to strike him back, he says, "There is no god but Allah." Should I kill him or spare him? He replied, "Spare him." I asked, even if he severs my hands? He said, "Even if he does." I repeated this question two or three times, and then the Prophet ﷺ said, "If you kill him after he says, 'There is no god but Allah,' you will be like him before he said it, and he will be like you. But if you spare him, Allah will love you."
[Machine] He told him about Al-Miqdad bin Amr Al-Farsi, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was a man from Kindah and an ally of the Banu Zuhrah. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if I meet a man from the polytheists and we clash with each other and exchange blows? I overpower him and have the ability to kill him. Should I kill him or spare him?" He said, "No, spare him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if he cuts off one of my hands?" He said, "Even if he does so." So, I reconsidered and he said, "If you kill him after he says, 'There is no god but Allah,' then you are in the same position as he was before he said it, and he is in the same position as you were before you killed him."

Al Miqdad bin Al Aswad reported that he said “Apostle of Allaah ﷺ tell me if I meet a man who is a disbeliever and he fights with me and cuts off one hand of mine with the sword and then takes refuge by a tree and says “I embraced Islam for Allah’s sake. Should I kill him, Apostle of Allaah ﷺ after he uttered it (the credo of Islam)? The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “Do not kill him”. I said “Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, he cut off my hand. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said, Do not kill him. I f you kill him, he will become like you before you kill him and you will become like him before he uttered his credo which he has uttered now. [Machine] Al-Miqdad said to the Prophet ﷺ, "O Prophet of Allah, what do you think if I meet a disbeliever who fights me and strikes one of my hands with a sword, causing it to be severed, then he seeks refuge from me behind a tree and says, 'I have submitted to Allah (become Muslim).' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not kill him, for if you kill him, then you will be in the same position as he was before he said the statement, and you were in the same position as he was before he said it.'"

That Al-Miqdad bin ʿAmr Al-Kindi, who was an ally of Bani Zuhra and one of those who fought the battle of Badr together with Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him that he said to Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Suppose I met one of the infidels and we fought, and he struck one of my hands with his sword and cut it off and then took refuge in a tree and said, "I surrender to Allah (i.e. I have become a Muslim),' could I kill him, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, after he had said this?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You should not kill him." Al- Miqdad said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! But he had cut off one of my two hands, and then he had uttered those words?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "You should not kill him, for if you kill him, he would be in your position where you had been before killing him, and you would be in his position where he had been before uttering those words." [Machine] Al-Qa'nabi reported from Malik, who reported from Bakr ibn Sahl, who reported from Abdullah ibn Yusuf, all of them reported from Malik ibn Anas, who reported from Abu Nadhrah, who reported from Sulaiman ibn Yasir, who reported from Al-Miqdad that Ali commanded him to ask the Prophet ﷺ about a man who experiences ejaculation when he approaches his wife, what should he do? And I have his daughter and I feel shy to ask him. Al-Miqdad said, "So I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about that, and he said, 'If one of you experiences it, then let him perform ghusl, cleanse his private parts, and perform ablution for prayer.'"

[Machine] A man from Ghaafiq had a debt of one hundred dinars to a man from Mahrah during the time of Uthman. They acquired a good wealth and Al-Mahri said, "I will quickly give you seventy dinars for you to forgive me of the one hundred." The one hundred dinars were a result of a dispute, and the Ghaafiqi agreed to it. Then Al-Miqdad passed by them and took hold of his camel's reins to bear witness. When he finished telling them the story, he said, "Both of you have been granted permission for war from Allah and His Messenger."

[Machine] The strange thing about a group of people I passed by suddenly is that they desire chaos. They claim that Allah will test them in it, just as He tested His Messenger and his companions. By Allah! I have heard the Messenger of Allah say, "Indeed, the one who avoids fitnah is happy, but if he is tested, he remains patient."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "The heart of the son of Adam changes faster than a boiling pot when it is heated."

[Machine] "Fortunate are these two eyes that have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . By Allah, I wish we had seen what you have seen and witnessed what you have witnessed, so that we could approach him. He said, 'What does a man gain by wishing for a presence that Allah has concealed from him? He does not know how he would be if he witnessed it.' By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in the company of people who were pushed into the depths of Hell, but they did not respond to him and did not believe in him. Doesn't Allah forbid any one of you? Don't you recognize the blessings of your Lord, affirming what your Prophet ﷺ came with? You have been saved from calamity without anyone else. By Allah, the Prophet ﷺ was sent in the most severe circumstances. No Prophet was sent during a period of ignorance where they did not see any religion better than idol worship. He brought forth a criterion that distinguished between truth and falsehood, and between a person and his child, to the extent that a man may see his father, son, or brother as a disbeliever, while Allah has opened the lock of his heart with faith, so that he knows that whoever enters the Hellfire is doomed. His eyes do not become content, even though he knows that his loved one is in the Fire. And indeed, it is what Allah has said, 'Our Lord! Grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying: "There will not remain on the face of the Earth a house made of mud or brick, nor a tent, but Allah will cause Islam to enter it, either by honorable victory or by humiliation and submission. Either Allah will elevate them or He will lower them, and they will pay the Jizya (tax)."
I heard Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) as saying: On the Day of Resurrection, the sun would draw so close to the people that there woum be left only a distance of one mile. Sulaim b. Amir said: By Allah, I do not know whether he meant by" mile" the mile of the (material) earth or dn instrument used for applying collyrium to the eye. (The Prophet is, however, reported to have said): The people would be submerged in perspiration according to their deeds, some up to their. knees, Some up to the waist and some would have the bridle of perspiration and, while saying this, Allah's Apostle ﷺ pointed his hand towards his mouth. (Using translation from Muslim 2864)
[Machine] I do not speak of anyone as good or evil until I see the outcome of their actions after hearing what I have heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He asked, "And what have you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He replied, "I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The heart of the son of Adam is more inclined to fluctuation than anything else when it becomes heated.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "People will be gathered from the time of miscarriage to the white-haired elderly, 33 generations in the creation of Adam, the beauty of Yusuf, and the character of Ayub, with kohl-lined eyes and long eyelashes."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ asked them about fornication and they said it is forbidden, as Allah and His Messenger have forbidden it. He said, "It is better for a man to fornicate with ten women than to fornicate with his neighbor's wife." He asked them about theft, and they said it is forbidden, as Allah and His Messenger have forbidden it. He said, "It is easier for a man to steal from ten sheep than to steal from his neighbor's house."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever loves Allah and His Messenger sincerely, is truthful and not dishonest, and loves the believers, then his status is like that of a person who is thrown into fire and tastes the taste of faith." Or he said, "He has reached the pinnacle of faith." Doubts arose from Safwan's matter.
