[Machine] A delegation from the people of Iraq sent to 'Uthman and they praised him, so Al-Miqdad began to throw dirt on their faces and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to throw dirt on the faces of those who praise."
بَعَثَ وَفْدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ فَجَعَلُوا يُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ يَحْثُو فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ وَقَالَ «أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us that we should throw dust upon the faces of those who shower too much praise.
قَامَ رَجُلٌ يُثْنِي عَلَى أَمِيرٍ مِنَ الأُمَرَاءِ فَجَعَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ يَحْثِي عَلَيْهِ التُّرَابَ وَقَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثِيَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ
"A man stood and praised one of the 'Amirs so Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad threw dust in his face and said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to throw dust in the faces of those who praise others.'"
قَامَ رَجُلٌ فَأَثْنَى عَلَى أَمِيرٍ مِنَ الأُمَرَاءِ فَجَعَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ يَحْثُو فِي وَجْهِهِ التُّرَابَ وَقَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
[Machine] A man came to Uthman and praised him on his face, so Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad started sprinkling dust on his face and saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us that when we meet those who flatter others, we should throw dust on their faces."
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ فَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ فِي وَجْهِهِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ يَحْثُو فِي وَجْهِهِ التُّرَابَ وَيَقُولُ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا لَقِينَا الْمَدَّاحِينَ أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ
