'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah reported that a man was praising another man in the presence of Ibn 'Umar. Ibn 'Umar began to throw dust towards his mouth. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When you see those who praise people, throw dust in their faces.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ

A man came and praised ‘Uthman in his face, al-Miqdad b. Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying : The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said : When you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces.

وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to throw dut in the mouths of those who praise others."

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي أَفْوَاهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ

A man came and praised ‘Uthman in his face, al-Miqdad b. Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying : The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said : When you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4804)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ

قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When a believer is praised on his face, faith blooms in his heart."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا مُدِحَ الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي وَجْهِهِ رَبَا الْإِيمَانُ فِي قَلْبِهِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Throw dirt in the mouths of those who praise excessively."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «احْثُوا فِي أَفْوَاهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

A man came and praised ‘Uthman in his face, al-Miqdad b. Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying : The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said : When you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4804)

وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وجُوهِهُمُ التُّرَابَ»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The (funeral) prayer should be offered for a child.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1507)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When a believer is praised on his face, the faith in his heart increases."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا مُدِحَ الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي وَجْهِهِ رَبَا الْإِيمَانُ فِي قَلْبِهِ»

«الشَّقِيُّ مَنْ شَقِيَ فِي بَطْنِ أُمِّهِ وَالسَّعِيدُ مَنْ وُعِظَ بِغَيْرِهِ» فَأَتَيْتُ حُذَيْفَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ وَمَا يُنْكَرُ هَذَا يَا ابْنَ وَاثِلَةَ وَأَنَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If you see those who praise others excessively, then throw dust on their faces."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Search for the dust on the faces of those who praise."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] And he said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When you see the flatterers, throw dirt on their faces.'"

وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ ordered us, when we see the flatterers, to throw dirt in their faces."

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَيْنَا الْمَدَّاحِينَ أَنْ نَحْثُوَا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, "Seek dust in the faces of those who praise."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Search for the dust on the faces of those who praise others excessively."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you see those who flatter, throw dust into their faces."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to throw dust in the faces of those who praise others." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3742)

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحْثُوَا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to throw dust in the faces of those who praise others." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3742)

وَقَالَ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ» أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ

[AI] And he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When you see the flatterers, apply dust to their faces."

وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "A believer should not hate Ali, and a hypocrite should not love him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يُبْغِضُ عَلِيًّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يُحِبُّهُ مُنَافِقٌ»

(احْثُوا في وجوهِ المدَّاحِينَ الترابَ" .

"احْثُوا في أفواهِ المدّاحين الترابَ" .

"إذَا مُدِحَ المُؤمنُ في وجهِه ربا الإِيمانُ في قلبِه" .
