Fath al-Bayan fi Maqasid al-Quran (The Opening of Clarification in the Objectives of the Quran) by Siddiq Hasan Khan al-Qinnawji (d. 1890 CE) is a fifteen-volume tafsir representing the Ahl al-Hadith scholarly tradition of 19th-century South Asia. Its objective is to provide a sound transmitted tafsir while attending to the maqasid (broader objectives) and themes of Quranic surahs, drawing on reliable narrations and the conclusions of major earlier works. The manhaj is tafsir bi-al-mathur with a thematic and maqasid orientation, reflecting Qinnawji's intellectual formation in the reformist scholarly tradition including the strong influence of Shawkani.
