1. Purification (11/28)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Istinja' (cleansing after using the bathroom) is done with three stones or with earth if a stone is not found. And one should not perform Istinja' with something that has already been used for Istinja' once." Uthman al-Tarayfi spoke about it and narrated it from an unknown group of people. And Allah knows best. And it was also narrated from another perspective by Anas, but its authenticity is not confirmed.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perform istinja' (cleansing after using the toilet) with three stones or with earth if there are no stones available, and if there is nothing with which to perform istinja' that has been used before." Abu Ahmad ibn 'Adiyy al-'Aammatu said, "Most of what Ibrahim ibn Abi Humaid narrates is not followed by anyone."
1.132 [Machine] The prohibition of touching the penis during urination with the right hand.
[Machine] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "When one of you wakes up, he should not touch his private parts with his right hand, nor blow into a container, nor clean himself with his right hand."
1.133 [Machine] Prohibition of performing istinja' (cleaning after using the toilet) with the right hand
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you enters the restroom, do not use his right hand for istinja and do not touch his private parts with his right hand." This hadith is narrated by Hisham al-Dastuwa'i in the two authentic narrations and is also reported by Salman and Abu Hurairah.
I see that your friend even teaches you about the excrement. He replied; Yes, he has in fact forbidden us that anyone amongst us should cleanse himself with his right hand, or face the Qibla. He has forbidden the use of dung or bone for it, and he has also instructed us not to use less than three pebbles (for this purpose). (Using translation from Muslim 262b)
The Apostle of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) as saying: I am like father to you. When any of you goes to privy, he should not face or turn his back towards the qiblah. He should not cleanse with his right hand. He (the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) also commanded the Muslims to use three stones and forbade them to use dung or decayed bone. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 8)
The Prophet ﷺ used his right hand for taking his food and drink and used his left hand for other purposes. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 32)
[Machine] The right hand of the messenger of Allah ﷺ was used for purification, food, and drink, while the left hand was used for other needs and avoiding harm.
1.134 [Machine] Abstaining from urination
The Prophet ﷺ urinated and Umar was standing behind him with a jug of water. He said: What is this, Umar? He replied: Water for you to perform ablution with. He said: I have not been commanded to perform ablution every time I urinate. If I were to do so, it would become a sunnah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 42)
[Machine] It was narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ saw a scorpion, he would mention it and say, "Abdullah bin 'Adi narrated from Isa bin Yazdad, from his father, that Zam'ah bin Salih said: 'I heard Ibn Hammad mention it from Al-Bukhari.' Abdullah was also known as Isa bin Azdad and this hadith is only known through him."
1.135 [Machine] How to Perform Istinja
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was asked about istitaba (the act of wiping over shoes) so he said: "Doesn't anyone among you find three stones, two for cleaning the private parts and one for the anus? This is what was mentioned in his book."
[Machine] Abu Al-Hasan Al-Daraqutni, the Hafiz, said: "Its chain of narrators is good, meaning the chain of narrators of this hadith is reliable."
1.136 [Machine] The aggregation of door events
1.137 [Machine] The translation of the heading "الْوُضُوءِ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ وَالْغَائِطِ" into English is "Ablution from urine and feces.
[Machine] The man complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that something occurs to him during prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not break your prayer until you hear a sound or smell an odor." Ash-Shafi'i said in the narration of Abu Sa'id, "When the Sunnah proved that the man should leave the prayer due to a smell, the smell was from the path of excrement, and there was more of it."
[Machine] Bala Jarir then performed ablution and wiped over his socks. He was asked, "Why are you doing this even though you have already reached maturity?" He replied, "Yes, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do the same, he performed ablution and wiped over his socks." Ibrahim said, "This narration amazed them because the Islam of Jarir came after the revelation of the verse of wiping over the socks."
[Machine] I went to Safwan bin Assal and I said to him: "You were one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and it has been bothering me that I have traces of urine and feces on my socks. Please tell me anything you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this." He replied: "He used to command us, when we were traveling or on a journey, not to remove our socks for three days and nights except in a state of major impurity, but it is permissible to remove them for urination, defecation, or sleep."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us to wipe over the two socks three times for a traveler, except when in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). However, it is permissible to wipe over the socks in the case of minor impurities such as excrement, urine, or wind. Abu al-Walid said, "He did not mention wind other than the wind of Mis'ar." And Abu Bakr al-Harithi informed us that Ali ibn Umar al-Hafiz narrated to us, who narrated from Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Mubashir, and Abu Abdullah Ahmad ibn Amr ibn Uthman al-Wasit narrated from them, who narrated from Ahmad ibn Sinan, who narrated from Ali. And Abu al-Tayyib Yazid ibn al-Hasan ibn Yazid al-Bazzaz narrated from Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Hassani, who said, "Waqi' informed us, who narrated from Mis'ar," and he mentioned it with similar wording. Ali said, "He did not mention in this hadith 'other than wind' from anyone other than Waqi'."
1.138 [Machine] Performing ablution from impurity and seminal discharge
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the situation of his daughter, so I ordered Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad to ask him. He said, "He washes his private parts and performs ablution."
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the mazi (pre-seminal fluid) for the sake of Fatimah, so I ordered a man to ask him and he said about it that it invalidates wudhu according to the two Sahihs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) from the hadith of Shu'bah.
[Machine] To ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what should be done if one experiences a discharge, I feel shy to ask him as I have a daughter. Al-Miqdad said, "So I asked him and he said, if any of you finds that, let him wash his intimate parts and perform ablution for prayer, like this."
ʿAli b. Abū Ṭālib said: I sent al-Miqdād b. al-Aswad to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him about the madhī (pre-seminal fluid) that comes out of a man: how should he deal with it? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do wuḍū and sprinkle water on your private parts.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 823)
[Machine] The passage translates to: "Seminal fluid (al-mani), prostatic fluid (al-madhy), and urine (al-wadi). As for seminal fluid, it requires ghusl (full ritual bath) and for the other two, they require ablution (wudu). This was narrated by Ibrahim from Ibn Mas'ood who said: 'Al-wadi is the fluid that comes after urination, and it requires ablution.'"
1.139 [Machine] Wudu's release from blood, release from one of the two paths, and others like worms or stones or others.
[Machine] That Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh asked the Prophet ﷺ for a ruling on menstruation and said, "I am experiencing Istihadah (abnormal bleeding) and I do not become pure. Should I leave the prayer?" He replied, "This is only a vein, it is not menstrual bleeding. So when the actual menses begin, leave the prayer and when it ends, wash the blood traces and perform ablution, then pray. This is only abnormal bleeding, it is not menstruation."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "A woman experiencing menstruation stops praying during her period. She then performs ghusl (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution) for each prayer, and she fasts, prays, and recites the Quran. In this Hadith, we mention some of what has been said about it, by the Will of Allah Almighty, in the book of menstruation."
[Machine] Indeed, ablution is only from what comes out and not from what goes in. And indeed, breaking the fast is from what goes in and not from what comes out. It has also been narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib from his saying, and it has been narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that it is not established.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wudu is made from what comes out, not what goes in." And it is narrated from Ata ibn Abi Rabah that he said about the one who performs wudu and a worm comes out of his anus, "Wudu is still valid." And Hasan and a group also said the same.
1.140 [Machine] The process of ablution through air escaping from one of the two paths
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The prayer of anyone who does anything that requires ablution is not accepted until they perform ablution." A man from Hadramaut asked, "What is meant by 'require ablution', O Abu Huraira?" He replied, "It refers to things like passing gas or urinating."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'There is no ablution except with water or wind.' And this is a concise and complete statement."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If any one of you has pain in his abdomen, but is doubtful whether or not anything has issued from him, be should not leave the mosque unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell. (Using translation from Muslim 362)
1.141 [Machine] The Importance of Performing Wudu' (ablution) after sleep
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prayed all his prayers on the day of the conquest with one ablution and wiped over his socks. Umar said to him, "I saw you doing something today that you did not used to do before." He replied, "I purposely did it, O Umar."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes up from sleep, do not put his hand in the ablution water until he washes it, for he does not know where his hand has spent the night."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you wakes up from sleep and wants to perform ablution, then let him pour water over his hands, for he does not know where his hands have been during the night."
[Machine] "I came to Safwan ibn 'Assal al-Muradi and said to him: I have an itching sensation in my chest when I wipe over my socks after relieving myself. I used to be one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , so I came to ask you if you have heard anything from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this matter. He replied: Yes, he used to command us that when we are traveling or on a journey, we should not remove our socks for three days and nights, except for janabah (major ritual impurity). But on the other hand, if it is due to urination, defecation, or sleep, we can remove them."
ʿThe anus, for the eye [in another version of this report, it says, ʿThe eye, for the anus…’ which sounds more apt], is like the string that ties up a waterskin; whoever goes to sleep, let him do wudoo’.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 887)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "The eye is the spearhead of the devil. So when the eye sleeps, the spearhead is released."
[Machine] Al-Walid ibn Muslim and Marwan are more established than Abu Bakr ibn Abi Maryam.
[Machine] If one of you sleeps while lying down, then let him perform ablution. This is a message.
[Machine] If one of you places his side, let him perform ablution.
[Machine] Washing is obligatory for every person who sleeps, except for those who merely doze off.
[Machine] To place his side while it has been narrated that it should be raised and its raising is not correct.
[Machine] Omar used to sleep a little in the Masjid al-Haram and then perform ablution.
[Machine] He used to, when sleep overcame him during the night, go to his bed, lie down, sleep like birds, then wake up, perform ablution, and return to prayer.
[Machine] Ata and Mujahid said, "Whoever falls asleep while in the position of bowing or prostration should perform ablution."
[Machine] "He used to see that one who sleeps while sitting or standing should perform ablution. This was narrated by Ath-Thawri from Hisham from Al-Hasan who said: When one sleeps while sitting or standing, he should perform ablution. Thus said Al-Muzani, may Allah have mercy upon him."
1.142 [Machine] Leaving ablution while sitting
[Machine] The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wait for the last prayer of the night until their heads would droop, then they would pray without performing ablution. Abu Dawud added on the authority of Shu'bah, from Qatadah, during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .
[Machine] The companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to sleep and then get up to pray without performing ablution during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .
[Machine] I have seen the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being woken up for prayer, and I would hear one of them making a noise, and then they would stand up and pray without performing ablution. Ibn Al-Mubarak said: "This is our practice when we are sitting, and Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi and Al-Shafi'i also narrated this hadith, and their narrations in this regard are mentioned in the books of Khalafiyat."
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, I have a need." So he began speaking to him privately until the people or some of the people fell asleep. Then he performed the prayer with them without mentioning ablution."
[Machine] That Abdullah bin Umar used to sleep while sitting and then pray without performing ablution.
[Machine] Whoever falls asleep while sitting does not need to perform ablution, but if they lie down to sleep, they must perform ablution. This narration has been reported from Zaid ibn Thabit, Abu Hurairah, and Abu Umamah. Some of our companions argued with evidence
[Machine] I was sitting in the mosque in the city when a man embraced me from behind. I turned around and there was the Prophet ﷺ . So I asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, is it obligatory for me to perform ablution?" He replied, "No, until you have put your side (to the ground)." This narration is exclusively reported by Bahru bin Kunayz As-Siqaa'i from Maymun Al-Khayyat, and it is weak and cannot be relied upon.
